I recently bought a 10 gallon fish tank for my glofish. The employee at the Montebello petco Wendalyn was a big help. There were questions I need answers for and also Wendalyn gave me information on how to care for my tank and fish. She was a big help and now I go to her for questions about my aquarium. A big thank you to Wendalyn. read more

Omg! I always take my dog to PETCO and this time for more than a week trying to make an appointment online, after so many attempts on the phone, they finally answer me and make me an appointment. WHERE THEY TELL ME BY PHONE THAT THEY DO NOT RECOMMEND CUTTING THE HAIR, accept. When taking it to the appointment only for the bathroom, when arriving the employees have an attitude and especially the one that will attend to my dog, he touches it and says that he cannot bathe it. Just excuses, it seems that they did not feel like doing it or were filled with appointments. My big anger is that they make me waste my time and attitude. Waiting there 5 minutes and they 3 talking about how bad customers care for their dogs. I DO NOT RETURN TO RETURN! read more

I always bring my dog for his grooming appointments with Ashley, she's super nice to him and takes really good care of him. My dog is not a friendly dog as he's a rescued he doesn't really like people as much but he's really comfortable with her. She takes good care of him.. She always get excited to see him as well as he does.. since she first time she groomed him she told me it would be a good idea to do the VIP treatment as he gets a lot of anxiety is he doesn't know the place or we are not there. That way he gets the attention he needs to be calm. She's very gentle with I really appreciate that.. my dog is my baby.. he always ends up looking handsome. Ashley every time I pick him up she asked if want to reschedule his groomer appointments which makes it a lot more easier for me sometimes it's hard to call to schedule appointments or the app isn't working for appointments. read more

Took my dog here because they are local. My dog has never been to a groomer, I've always given him a bath at home. However, his nails desperately needed to be cut and I wanted him to get a haircut. They asked a bunch of questions and said to give them 3-4 hours. I get a text an hour later to pick him up because he was to stressed out from his nails. Went to pick him up, expecting him to at least be clean... NOPE! You're telling me it took you an hour to attempt to do his nails? That's ridiculous. I purchased a nail cutter and nail file, went home, and cut his nails myself with NO PROBLEM! I believe the guy who was supposed to take care of him just didn't want to do anything. When I got there I heard the other girls talking, stating he wasn't even there yet. I will NEVER bring him back here! read more

I enjoyed this location very much, because of the cleanliness of the store. The young ladies working the fish section were not knowledgeable of some of the stock, like the glow fish. Nice staff, a good selection of aquarium decor. read more

This review is for the dog trainer Estefany. She is amazing in the way she is able to train my two cocker spaniel puppies. First of all, it was really hard to find a consistent day and time that worked for both me and my puppies daddy but thankfully Estefany created a late class at 7pm for us! Every week she showed us new commands to practice at home and how to correct our puppies behaviors such as jumping on people or the bed, nipping, digging, and potty training. Estefany is also very understanding and sympathetic when I have to miss a week of training due to my chronic neck pain which sometimes keeps me bed ridden all day. She is an awesome dog trainer and all around good person. I would recommend her anyone who has a dog that needs a little guidance in the right direction! THANK YOU ESTEFANY!!! YOU ARE THE BEST!!! read more

This review is for the grooming department. I frequently take my dog in for cut and bath and make the appointment a week in advance. They always do a great job with grooming my dog but the past couple of times they have either rescheduled my appointment or canceled. Today, my boyfriend went in to drop off my dog and he was 6 minutes late and the lady in grooming told him that, "since the groomer had no more dogs she went home" so he asked if they had grace period in which she responded 15 minutes. So I don't understand how she couldn't have any more dogs if we had an appointment and we were still within the grace period. It was a complete waste of time and a waste of gas. A courtesy call or text would have been good to have. I have waited around for them at times (sometimes over 15 min) when they were running late but I was understanding because I know stuff happens sometimes. This is our first time running a little behind but for them to keep canceling and rescheduling once we arrive is extremely unprofessional and frustrating. read more

I was at this Petco location on Tuesday trying to shop for my pets . I couldn't leave fast enough. The store is so hot it's unbearable . I feel bad for both the animals aswell as the employees. It's way too hot I can't imagine how hot it is when in summer can get upto 120. This is ridiculous. The employees provide excellent customer service and the store is clean but honestly having a store so hot is not okay . I would hate to work here it's way to hot . I know the store doesn't have the control of the ac and thermostat but it's inhumane to have employees work in these conditions aswell as i can imagine the poor animals posably overheating . This needs to change read more

I only gave a star because I can't write a review unless I do give it a star. Ugh! This place is atrocious the management here have no regard for this store's upkeep. 5-stars for their Positive Dog Training classes! We signed up our Ruxin for the Adult Level 1 since he's 3-years old and it seemed like he already knew quite a bit before we brought him home from a shelter. Actually, this class was more to train us humans. Hahaha! Our previous dog pretty much ruled us and our house and we quickly realized from the first class that we've been doing it all wrong all those years. Nicole was our trainer for this 6-week course and along with going through the basics, she was also great about giving us a lot of helpful information in other categories (ex.- grooming, diet, etc.) We'll be back for Adult Level 2 at the end of the summer and will be sure to sign up with her again. Rude and lazy staff. They do not have the ability to go above and beyond for the customer. I have visited this store on multiple occasions for different services and there's always something that makes me leave the store bothered. Apparently, my information can never be found on their system. I have registered my information for the rewards program at this store 3 times. Never returning to this store. South Gate location is much better! Now, I'll be commuting further out, but with the acknowledgment of having a better customer service. read more

Petco Store 3/5 -The cashiers here are always friendly and very helpful. Never had a complaint :) Petco Grooming 3.5/5 Took my puppy here to get the blowout special and had a good time. Ivan was sooo gentle and kind to my sweet puppy. I was worried they'd be too heavy handed but I got lucky with Ivan. I was satisfied he got the job done AND that he was nice to my scared yet obidient pup. Trust goes a long way and I would definitely trust him to work on my pup again. Overall, Service 4/5 Cleanliness: 3/5 Price 4/5 (their promo/specials are worth it) Note: They are very strict about vaccinations so if you're a first timer, make sure you bring proof of rabies vaccination. read more

I would give this review a 5 if could, but the lack of consideration of the pets in this high heat is concerning. I feel that walking into an establishment that has no regards to the environment outside and how it effects not just the pets but the employees and customers is dreadful. I have worked for companies before and know that some companies control the actual temperature in the stores and the associates have no control. your associates are amazing and the selection outstanding, but not being able to shop in the store because of the heat is unacceptable. I would like to get a response and a time frame on we can resolve this. thank you read more

Nice, clean store, always find what we're looking for easily and the staff is helpful. I love that I can take my dog in here, need more places with that option but I understand that people do not clean up after themselves, I've seen it twice at this store. My one gripe is how sad the bettas look, I always want to buy all of them and make them happy and healthy! I try to avoid that area but my boyfriend loves going to get items for his aquariums, so we've bought four already. read more

I went shopping at petco and I saw this groomer leaving her dog alone on the table. I usually shop at Petsmart but petco was close by and I saw this. I don't think that is very safe for the dog because he can fall and choke himself. These are two different occasions where I come buy food and I see the same groomer leave a dog on the table alone. Hope petco does something to fix it . It was 2 times July 7 th and July 30th read more

Had to get the princess her food, so stopped by on our way home. Nestled in the corner of a strip mall, but pretty convenient off of the freeway. The store was nicely kept up and clean. Not what you would expect for the area, but a really pleasant shopping experience. read more

Wow everything is marked up in the store. Didn't check the receipt until I got home and noticed everything was 2-3x the price than stated online at Petco.com. This place is my go to place for pet supplies. Having three bunnies is costly but with the rewards program and discounts I save about $5-10 when I buy things. They have the paper litter, oxbow brand and so many toys my rabbits love to throw around and chew on. Sometimes their stock is limited and I can not find what I need but I just hop over to the Montebello petco and they are stocked with variety of food but i usually see a limited toy selection. read more

Horrible service. Wish there was NEGATIVE 0 stars Rating ! took my fluffy 10 year old Maltese poodle for a trimming around the face , legs and back area. I brushed her every other day and they said the hair was tangled and cut her hair down. BUT they shaved her down to her skin without my consent . i had agreed for shorter hair but this was horrible. the hair cut was uneven with longer parts through out her body. Below is a picture of her the night before the "trimming" but next to it is the picture of what they did. I've been a customer of Petco for 5 years but I wont even be back for food and will share this horrible experience with all friends and family. read more

First of all my dog is only 10 pounds. Came to get get my dog groomed and got " Eliane " , it started off with her telling me the grooming session was going to be 1.5 hours - 2 hours , 2 hours later I call to ask for an update because I didn't get any call. When calling the another groomer answered the phone and said that there was an issue my dog , that he would move when blow drying ( which is very normal for any dog ) and that he is CURRENTLY ( 2 hours in the appt ) " Kennel drying " upon asking what the heck that is they said he was in a cage with a fan in front of him giving him a " light breeze " . After I stressed how that was not okay they said I can't even speak to the groomer Eliane because shes on her LUNCH BREAK, and I told her that it was not okay for Elaine to go on a lunch break during a service !! my dogs fur does not dry from a light breeze fan , I knew he was cold and who knows how long he was in the cage . Washing only takes 10 - 15 minutes max . Elaines coworker then states that my pet was only wet from" his feet ". SO IS HE WET OR DID SHE JUST WANNA GO ON HER LUNCH AND THROW MY DOG IN CAGE . If you come here for grooming do not get Elaine. Elaine's coworker said my pet would be ready in another hour ! I took myself right over there and picked up my dog half wet ( not just his feet ) the first thing he did was pee on the grass , if they are gunna leave my dog in cage for 2 hours they could at least take him to use the restroom. The whole time I was there Elaine still didn't get back from her lunch who knows how much longer he would have been in that cage wet read more

Very limited supplies, the customer service rep lacked knowledge of store products. The rep had no clue on what to recommend for shampoo products. Very disappointing the lack of knowledge. This store is not worth the trip. I have tried to find items in there and the shelves are mostly empty every time I have been there in the past 2 years. Used to be ok but no longer. Vet is gone.
