Took my 2 year old rescue dog for a full grooming. The groomer personality was NOT customer service friendly. She did okay with the job. Nails were clipped (I asked to watch but she said only from a window 10 to 15 feet away). I had thought the buffing was included and stated that. She asked me, "do you want buffing?" and I clarified I wanted everything included in what I paid for. Without reply, she took the dog over and did the buffing. After the wash and blow dry, she brought my pup to me as if finished. I said that the website stated that the package I bought included a 15 minute "professional" brush out. She immediately turned (again without comment) and took the dog back to the work table. She brushed him for 10 minutes. Took him to check out and the clerk charged my an extra $12 for the "buffing". I told her what I had told the groomer and she said no, this is the fee for buffing nails. No apologies for misunderstanding, about the same lack of "customer service friendly" as the groomer. I will NEVER return to the McMinnville store. read more

Might have been more understanding if the woman who called didn't have a f*** off attitude, no apologies, and go about saying stuff like "I'm just the one that has to make these calls". If you have a cat, do not even bother with the Vetco appointments you can set up here. The way they do them is at a table by the cash registers in the middle of the floor, so no enclosed room. That alone made me nervous about taking my cat out of the carrier, but it never even came to that because my cat was so upset (probably in part from all the animal smells and noises) that he was hissing and batting. At that point they said there was no way they would do him. I don't know many cats that love the vet either so if they are prone to hissing, don't even waste the time slot. For the prices they charge you might as well see an actual vet anyway. To get the three tops shots it was quoted as $109, so take that as you will. For cats, it seems like a poor environment for vaccinations, unless you have a chill cat that is harness trained so you can make sure they won't bolt. read more

Our new family pup is a rescue -- and his past must have been pretty tough. He doesn't have any experience going out into the world and mingling. So we chose the Petco in McMinnville as his first venture out into the mix. I love that leashed pups are welcome in the store that sells their goodies and necessities. We wandered the aisles and the new dog was fascinated by all the smells and sounds and obviously-doggie-stuff that filled the shelves. Other dogs and their people were there --even a few that were loud and boisterous (the dogs, not the people) -- but pup was just alert and mildly interested. Never afraid or too interested. :D Everybody knows what these big pet stores sell -- and this one has a bit of it all. -- even a variety of OSU and UofO doggie t-shirts and jerseys. (maybe next fall.) What we found for pup was a really big and challenging chew stick. When I held it out for him to sniff a thumbs up or down -- it was a clear YES. He took it and carried it up to the check-out like a real pro. And he surrendered it long enough to check out -- then took it back sooo politely. Success in 1. We'll be back. read more

Horrible grooming department!!!! Your dog is not safe with these groomers. Especially the manager with short bleached blonde hair!!!!!! Brought my 2 pugs in for a nail trim. The blonde manager put my dog on the table and lowered it until my dogs was choking and yellped in pain. I watched the whole thing horrified. I complained and she told me she would not do my dogs nails, because she was holding her breath, during the service.What the hell! My dog was severely choked and hurt. When I notified Petco, they blamed my dog, and let the manager put my dogs on the no service list. DO NOT bring any animals you care about to this Petco. The one in Keizer, does a great job and does not abuse the pets they work on! read more

My dog just finished basic level one training. I bought a package that ends with the canine good citizen test. The trainer Lily has very little experience owning and training dogs. She was never able to give me good advice for my specific dog issues. The advice she did give also was not effective for herself with my dog either. I also found her delivery to be preachy. On our fourth class she told me she did not think my dog could pass the canine good citizens test. I was floored by her pronunciation seeing as my dog had 10 more classes still unfulfilled. I was not able to write a review on the actual petco site. They stated my purchase was too long ago, however, my dog finished her classes Oct 22nd, today is October 30th... does that seem an unreasonable amount of time. read more

Today, after work, I was really looking forward to shopping for pet supplies and check out buying some birds and supplies for a friend. I went into the McMinnville store. Before I started shopping, I asked where their restroom was. One of the male checkers bluntly stated, "They are closed to the public". I went to back of the store and saw some other employees there. I asked for a manager. A girl named Misha said both of us are. I have to tell you she had a snotty attitude. I explained to her I have a medical condition that makes it urgent for me to get to a restroom quick and she reluctantly, begrudgingly let me use the restroom. She said we have this policy because people mess it up and I'm tired of cleaning it! What? So, you are going to punish the rest of us who spend lots of money at your store? Needless to say, I walked out and without shopping there. Will someone please tell me what has happened to customer service and professionalism? I wonder if the owners or corporate would appreciate their attitudes and losing money for the store? read more

I have gone to Pet Co twice in the last couple of weeks for some fish related items. Both times I have encountered a young women in the fish department who has possible the worst customer service skills on the planet. If she is on a project, say putting things away, she will not help you no matter how politely you ask for assistance. Nor will she be bothered to call one of her associates to help you. Your going to have to track someone else down in the store and drag them back there to get help, while she stands there and offers unsolicited advice. Someone needs to tell this young lady that if the store does not sell anything then she does not have a job. read more

We took our dog Charlie in for the $55 grooming service. We got a better outcome cleaning him ourself at the self wash for $12... The groomer didn't go over the seven checks, and Charlie didn't even smell like he had a bath the same day. We weren't at all satisfied. read more

Do NOT have your pets groomed here. The grooming manager (at the time of the review) is completely incompetent and has no formal training in grooming. She shaved and cut my cat and trimmed her whiskers. Who in their right mind cuts a cat's whiskers? If you want proper grooming, fork up some proper cash and go to a certified groomer. As far as the rest of the store goes, no surprises. It's a chain store so it's identical to all others. The staff are very blase and I don't blame them. But there are better local stores like Nature's Pet or Pet Stop Inn. read more

I take my service dog Cowboy every 4 weeks for his grooming. I just love it there. He looks great every time. I get the appointments that work for me. There is no way I could do all the services he gets myself and at the price. They take the time to know what I wanted and make sure he is happy. He hates to get his face dried with the blow dryer so the take the time to dry his head and/or as needed place him in kennel for a bit with the blower going. read more

Petco is supposed to allow mask exemptions. There is even a sign on the door that states so. I had never had a problem until the manager came up to me at my last visit (after doing all my shopping) and asked for my vaccination card and refused to serve me without it. If you're there for self groom the price is right at $10 and groomers are helpful. The rest of the store. Dog food is expensive and store brand causes the runs. Returning was eventful. No discount for vets. Wilco is expensive but beats them on price with discount. The rest of the store staff is not happy to be there and less happy if you are. read more

I love the way my senior dog is treated at Petco. At 16 years old she is still a fur blizzard at home and needs deshedding quite frequently. Her skin and muscles are touchy though and she requires a very gentle hand with frequent breaks. That's exactly what she gets and actually loves to go for grooming. Five stars! read more

People have to remember grooming goes through employees regularly each year, so if you had a bad experience try them again and switch groomers:) I'm always greeted at the door and everyone is always helpful. If I don't like the service, I tell the manager. If I find a better deal elsewhere, they honor those prices. Don't forget to use your petco rewards! read more

Went to get my puppy groomed (shots and everything uptodate). The lady who talked to me has the worst customer service I have seen at a petco, she was very insist on talking to me at the back of the room where it was very hard to a) hear her b) the dog she was working on seemed to be tied up to the point of not being able to even move his head at all. I decided to drive all the way back to where I actually live (5 hours away) with a puppy who really really needed a bath. read more

I must say that in the beginning I was happy with the people I dealt with in the Petco grooming department. However, over the past year they have done nothing but disappoint. Over charge, lousy grooming, unhappy dog (who used to love going in) and whoever the new manager is in this dept. certainly could use a course in manners. She is rude, disrespectful and from what I have witnessed, not patient enough to deal with a stressed out animal. I will go in for necessities but nothing else. I apologize to my poor little dog for not making the change sooner. If you are only there for your paycheck then you need to find another job. read more
