we took our two toddlers to get fish at 7:30 and the worker would not give us fish. she said she was "too busy" as she was putting stickers up. had to leave with two crying toddlers because she couldn't take 2 minutes to take a fish out. honestly... the negligence that is portrayed at this store is sad... all of the animals seem in a depressive state... and it's always a few and if not all of the fish tanks that are "down"because of ick... I walked in and asked the woman if they had any kittens for adoption. She said that they had one and it was over there and pointed. She was more interested in playing with her phone than helping me. I found a locked room and the kitten was in a cage clear in the back. I couldn't see anything. I went back to the woman and asked if I needed to be let into the room. She said that I needed to fill out an application before I could see it. She barely looked upfront her phone. She was not interested in customer service at all. My daughter just adopted a cockapoo and I was visiting with my Cavapoo. While buying supplies, I asked Ashley a trainer about issues we were having with the dogs getting along. She more than calmed our fears. I was afraid my dog growling he would hurt the other dog. She explained he was just adjusting to the altitude now another dog. When we got home we had more confidence and took them off leash and realized the Cavapoo was just afraid of the other dog and hid. Gave 2 stars instead of 1 only because the Cashier was very nice and helpful, Saved me $40 by signing me up for free membership. But not 5 stars cuz The manager. He approaches the checkout counter while I'm waiting for the receipt cashier lets him know that I paid cash and he very clearly wanted me to know, how annoyed he was by giving me a huge eye roll with a nasty glare. It was so obvious that it was awkward to not acknowledge his reaction so I just said very nicely. I am so sorry I didn't have anything else, but cash and even though he is literally 2 feet from me and I'm apologizing for paying cash, (because of his unprofessional reaction) he completely ignores me as if I never even said anything. Probably picking up on The awkward silence from her manager, thethat cashier reassured me for him that it was OK- it was just that the drawer was already counted down. I said oh I'm sorry i didn't realize.. and she again was very nice and said don't worry about it. Now they were not even closed yet!! Sure, they did close in about 5 min.. I was in my car driving away at 7:55. So sorry asshole Manager but if your store stays open until 8, you just may have a customer paying in cash near closing time.. so don't count your drawer down ahead of time. Or If you do - Don't be a complete prick to a paying customer if they do pay in cash. It's your fault everyone who's worked retail knows that it's a risk counting down a drawer early for this reason and sometimes you win and sometimes you don't but that's on you and wether u feel like it's Worth the risk or not. I really like their dog grooming facilities, fish area - not so much. 5 stars for dog grooming and overall staff in the store. My dog jumps over the counter when we arrive at the store so she can greet the groomer. She's been afraid at other grooming places. I'm not sure how they've made her so excited to be there, but she is very happy when she visits. 2 stars for the fish area. The employees are awesome and answer a lot of questions, but the fish tend to have diseases. The last one we purchased there died after a week. read more

The idiot at the register, Eric, told the guy to pull it down over his whole face. The guy said he had a medical condition, COPD, and that he couldn't because it made it hard to breathe. Absolutely horrible staff. Rude and unprofessional. Made a purchase and a small donation which told us we would be given a small bag with the donation, then they told us they are out of donation gift bags. We asked if we could change it to a smaller donation then and was told no. So then we lightly commented maybe don't advertise for something you don't have at which point the man checking us out got defensive and angry, we decided to drop the issue but he proceeded to yell at us even as we were leaving the store. Grooming services have gone downhill, not a good experience and my dog is traumatized after his last experience there. They kept him for 4 hours before even starting to work on him and then complained because he was agitated and didn't want to be touched. the experience was so bad to the point he shook in fear when I tried to bring him today. If I show up, 10 mins to close with exactly what I want already chosen and I will be using a card for the transaction, then it should be simple to handle the transaction. Have had our Dogs at this store for grooming for years, Manager hasn't called back yet. Called in the AM to schedule my dogs nails done, Ones limping, As always I call and say it Cassie and Max's dad, lady on the other end has no personality, She knows I us!!!!!!!!Won't look us by owners name, has to be a phone number. I ask why are you being so difficult! I have to call back because I don't know my wife's number by heart. So I call back to a endless ring. I took our dog in to get his nails trimmed. I have never seen him so upset, struggling, yipping, and shrieking before. I was afraid he'd have a stress heart attack and finally told them that was enough and to stop. The two women on didn't seem to know how to handle him. I found out later they pinched his penis so hard that they left a blood blister and pinch marks. We took pictures in case anyone is skeptical. That's inappropriate and abusive. Never again. Don't trust them with your pet. I should add that we had his nails trimmed at another place about 6 weeks before this. He was completely calm throughout it, with no problems. read more

Everyone who works at the grooming facility is absolutely amazing! I lived in the area and recently moved to Westminster but am more than happy to drive down to this location to him a bath and a nail trim, it is well worth the drive. There are a couple employees who recognize my dogs name when I call, they sound happy to have him in. Their trainer is amazing. The rest of the place is ok. They do have some harder to find items. The groomers I would avoid at all cost. It was HORRIBLE not only did we have an appointment scheduled it took them five hours to actually begin his appointment!!! Kept him locked in a kennel the whole time with no water our poor baby was so thirsty when we picked him up, we kept going back to check on him to see when they were going to get him in to see they never begun. His appointment was at 10 am and he wasn't ready for pick up at 6!!! SO RIDICULOUS also his hair cut was NOT what we wanted it was uneven and she cut one of his nails too short... so again DO NOT use this Petco they were so rude and inconsiderate of your time! One little sidenote we have a thrive membership and we are supposed to get a discount for grooming the cashier said she does not know how to apply it nor does she know anyone that does!!! Awful service I will never step foot in this store again!!! If you guys are needing to get your pet groomed and have no other choice other than a mom and pop shop that is what I recommend but the Belmar store took much better care of him and had him in and out and it only took an hour and a half! They always seem to do the right thing for their customers, however, when I came in about 6-7 weeks ago, they went above and beyond for me. I wanted to buy a large terrarium and they had some on sale for 50% off. At the time I noticed the sale, there were still a couple weeks left and I needed to wait until pay day to make the purchase. When I came in to make the purchase, I realized that I had flubbed the expiration date on the sale and it had actually ended a couple days earlier. I explained my mistake to one of their associates and asked if there was any way she could give me a deal(like 10 or 15% off). She called the store manager over for me, (already doing more than she needed to do), and she explained my flub to him. He was happy to extend the sale offer for me and I was able to get the full discount(50%!!)...way above and beyond what I expected. I'm moving to the Green Mountain area in December and there is another Petco in BelMar, however, I'm going to be traveling to this store as they've always been great to me! Thanks! read more

I will never take my dog back here. First, it's more expensive than other groomers. Second, her haircut was a total hack job with uneven spots everywhere. Finally, and most importantly, they clipped her nails but didn't buff them (because "she didn't like it"...even though she's been groomed two other times at a different place and did just fine) so she was left with razor sharp nails that now tear her skin when she scratches herself. What a waste of $60+ and had I know this is how she was going to turn out, I would have never left a tip at the register (you pay at the register and include tip BEFORE they bring you your dog). Word to the wise. Don't go here for grooming or if you do, see your dog before you tip. read more

I love PetCo and this one is nice and close to our neighborhood. The petco is easy to navigate and they have fish, birds, cats and other animals for sale inside. It's great too because you can bring your best friend (dog) in for a haircut! The staff is super friendly and have always been helpful. Sometimes they are short staffed at the cash wrap. read more

I checked online for a new collar and the website said this was available for store pickup. As this store is not far I decided to drive over and just purchase. I looked in the collar section and did not see the one I wanted so I asked the guy at the front register. I explained to Eric that I had looked online and that it showed the product was eligible for pickup. Eric proceeded to tell me that they did not have the collar, the website is never correct with what they actually have in the store, mind you, he never checked inventory or even moved from his spot. Another employee heard the conversation and said " we have those in a different area. She proceeded to take me to the display and there it was. Ok strike one for Eric, I went to pay and the price came up as $19.99, I explained to Eric, I was pretty sure the website said $10 ish, again Eric was dismissive and said the website prices were always incorrect. I did not argue as I did not have my phone with me to check. Returned home and looked again at the website, price was $10.11 not a discount or coupon or website purchase only and available for pickup. I called and was greeted by Kristina, store manager and explained the situation. She proceeded to spin this in all kinds of ways, but my bottom line was why were they selling this product for double the website price even though if purchased online you can drive to the store and pick it up for half the cost. Gouge much, she proceeded to tell me that they could not offer any discount in addition the website price, NOT ASKING FOR THAT JUST HONER THE WEBSITE PRICE! Finally she vacillated to the fact that Eric should have looked to verify the price and upon returning to the store she refunded the difference with what I would describe as a dismissive attitude. LESSON, BRING THE ADD WITH YOU AND HOLD YOUR GROUND OR PAY 100% MARKUP. read more

So, I was just in this store with my daughter. We were having a ball looking at all the 50% off items..I found the perfect harness for my dog. It was in the bottom of the bin..My daughter found a lot of 50% off items and we got bones etc..When we got up to the register. I asked the sales associate where I can find calming drops for dogs, she bluntly asked what kind. Being I have never purchased them, I had no idea what kind, so that's what I said, that I have no idea. She than sarcastically said. "Well, than I dont know either". I thought that was quite brazen of her, as if it was me, I would have immediately just told the customer where they were and that there were various kinds and collars as well. Than when she was checking me out. She did not give me the 50% off on my harness. I was actually quite disappointed. As I really wanted it. She than said she did not know how it kept ending up in the 50% bin.. So, I did not get it..After my purchase. My daughter and I walked out. But than I decided to go back in to see if I could find another, or a manager that could possibly help. As I was walking out. I saw, Molly the Sales associate. My review is to share with you, my dog Toby, was 86'd! I had taken my adorable little Yorkie in for a haircut for a 1pm appointment. At 4:30pm I still had not heard from them to pick up Toby as they forgot to call me the last time they groomed him. I went to Petco at 4:30pm to pick up Toby when I was informed they had not gotten to him!! I had somewhere to be at 5pm, so I asked they give Toby to me. I am then informed I owe for a $25 bath! I refused, and the manager credited the $25 bath. Today, when I tried to make an appointment, I was informed my little Toby was no longer welcome!! I am probably the only person who gives $10 tips. I don't normally take my cutie to Petco, but Katie trimmed up Toby very well and liked her. Until today! They have a great selection for fish, but the employees are so rude and disrespectful. The first time I was treated poorly, thought maybe she was having a bad day, now I have been back three times since then and they always have attitude it seems. Not only that, one day we get quoted a price and the next day they say it's not for sale. I would stop coming here if it weren't for the good selection of fish/aquarium items.
