I am very happy to have found Kaitlin and her crew. My 3yr old shihtzu wasn't "traumatized" at all by her new groomer. After being delayed in traffic, she was able to adjust our appt and finish on a timely basis. This great experience was soured by the unprofessional cashier trainee (Edwin). I bought hay not too long ago, recently opened it and put it in a sealed reddy container. Opened it about three days later to find tiny little bugs all throughout the hay and container. Mind you no bugs was in the container or i couldnt think how bugs would get into a sealed container. Im not too sure if it was in the hay bag itself or what. We took our Shiba Inu here to get groomed over the winter break. I know that grooming this type of dog isn't exactly easy but the price that we paid to do so wasn't too bad. We thought his coat needed a bit of shining up so they ended up using special shampoo that costed just a few dollars extra but it was totally worth it. Negative star! Recently got a cat collar for my new beautiful kitty. Apparently the connection of the clip was not secure and easily disengaged when kitty pulled on it. Left me with a opened collar and leash. Causing my new kitty to ESCAPE!!! Very sad and disappointed. I lost him. It was the type of latch the manufacturer made. Also the cashier did not thank me after the transaction. All she said was "here you go" and handed me my receipt. read more

Yesterday,29-Oct-2024, I went in to purchase dog food and fish food which I always do. The lady in charge of the fish, Keala I believe she said her name was, had the most profanity. Not just this time but even before. Every other word was " mother&_$+@#. She even bragged about her 3yr old knowing how to curse!! A few people just walked away VERY offended by her profanity. The last time I shopped at Petco was nearly 10 years ago and boy has it changed. STORE/PRODUCTS: I love, love, love that they have decided to go all natural with their dog food & treat selections. It is a huge help, since you are not left wondering what foods are good and which ones aren't. The products in the store are still pretty pricey, BUT if you really take the time to shop, you can find some great deals like their 2 for $5 dog toy bin. Seems cheap, but my puppy's favorite toy came from this bin. ALSO, if you are a pet owner MAKE SURE YOU sign up for their rewards program! Almost everything in the store is on sale when you do. AND you get $5 back after evert $100 purchase. I know it doesn't seem like a lot, but every little bit helps, right? SERVICE: When my fiance and I were still planning on getting a puppy from the Kauai Humane Society (KHS) we stopped in at Petco just in case we got the call that we got her! The staff was ALL SO NICE and SWEET. SERIOUSLY. They kept giving us pointers and tips and kept saying good luck on getting her. When we got the call that she was ours to adopt, they celebrated with us! We are in there almost everyday, and to be honest, I don't mind. The staff is AMAZING. TIPS: If you are a first-time puppy/dog owner ask them about their new puppy starter kit (or something like that, LOL). They told us about it because Kai asked for a "kit" and we got a handy pamphlet with a checklist of puppy essentials for 72 hours and then in the long term. I went with my 5 year old daughter and 8 year old son to buy some fish. No one helped us so we walked over to the front and asked if someone could help us buy fish. The lady at the front said we just needed to wait longer for the attendant to come help us. We waited more than 10 minutes and went and asked again. We were told we just had to wait. We ended up waiting another 10 minutes with no help and left. My daughter cried on the way home. Thanks. All we needed was someone to help us. The lady who told us to wait wasn't actually doing anything - she wasn't staffing the register - she was standing by the front desk talking to a coworker. Why didn't she just help us instead of tell us to wait for 20 minutes? Do you staff even care to help when asked? Groomers hurt my dog. The store is good. The grooming was done well. Unfortunately the lady hurt my dogs ears and accused him of biting her while grooming because she tried to cut off his ears. I came to the car and saw blood on his ears and have pictures. As groomers after charging $75 you need to be more careful with animals. Will not be returning ever. read more

kauai's first chain pet store, petco, just recently opened! they have a variety of things for different pets. there are lots of freshwater and salt water fish to choose from, as well as reptiles like tortoises and mammals like mice/rats/guinea pigs and cats! they have friendly, courteous staff that will assist you when and where they can. when i went today, i was in search of a betta fish because they're really simple to take care of, however, they are sold out until they get another shipment in. the gold fishes were pretty cute, though and i might consider one of those as an alternative. can't wait to see more to come! read more

I returned a big bag of dog food on June 8 to the Petco on Friars Road, San Diego. After a week I did not see the refund on line so I went into the Petco Store. I was told that a refund would take 2 weeks so I waited. After three weeks I called my credit card and Petco Main Office. Alexis had me send her a copy of the receipt ($75.00) and then I was informed on July 23 that it would take 8- 10 days for a refund. It's now August 11 and I still haven't gotten the refund. I email her every day asking about the refund. If you return something to Petco check your account. I will not shop at Petco again. read more

I buy my dogs food here. In the 20 + times I have been in, I can say I've honestly been greeted twice- the workers look up & then continue to do what they were doing. Majority of the time, the person who is ringing up seems annoyed that they have to ring up a customer. It's a pretty sad thing. I only go there for the Merrick brand of dog food. Supposed to include a scented spritz with bandanna, received neither both times. Hesitate before scheduling again & would want a thorough explanation of EXACTLY what they are going to do. My dog loves going to Petco. He searches for staff members because he knows they have treats in their pockets. I'm not a fan of the prices on the majority of items but I still will shop there for certain things. Love the fact that I can bring my empty kitty litter bucket I purchased there and refill it instead of adding more trash to our island. Their pet tags are reasonably priced and my kids and I just love the engraving machine. I also love the rewards card and huge discounts if you order online!
