I ran out of Hills Science Diet Kitten Food and panicked. I called around and happened upon Petco in Englewood. I use their app, but haven't been to a store. Long story short, I was very impressed. It's a mass production company. There were about 20-30 mice in one enclosure, it should have only have 5-8, there was an enclosure with a single guinea pig (they are heard animals and there should be at least 2 in one enclosure) a lot of the fish weren't swimming properly, and the cats had very little padding in their cages, and the padding they did have was dirty and left unchanged. All the fish tanks with live fish were so dirty and filthy. I do not care what the bare minimum of a pet stores treatment towards their pets should be. This is animal abuse. read more

I have been to this store on several occasions because it is convenient. Every time I have gone in there they have certain species of reptiles in the wrong type of habits and feeding the wrong type of foods. I have said something to the employees but they don't seem to care. I feel sorry for the animals in there because they are not being properly taken care of, and that means they will give this incorrect husbandry and care to whoever purchases these poor animals. Their fish tanks are disgusting and the fish are always sick. Do they not have anyone who is in charge of making sure the animals are properly taken care of? It makes me sick to think of how miserable these animals are. Please do better Petco. You are advocating pet ownership by selling these animals and you aren't even taking care of them yourselves. read more

Outstanding employees!!! I arrived at the store ten minutes before closing in need of some specialty first aid supplies for our dog. Not only was I able to get them but the young lady at the register escorted me back to where they sell Doggie Asprin!!! I believe her name name was Jaime and she greatly helped me despite the store closing in 5 minutes. Great Customer service! read more

I found the store a bit disappointing. The store has boxes of merchandise laying around especially in their pet training location in the store. The aquarium area looks trash. The stuff never said hi or asked if I needed any help. I had my pup with me an as we were exiting she was never offered a treat which to me seems to be the normal at all the other pet store I have gone too. I just mover to this area from Dayton and had drop a few hundred bucks a this store location and had the same experience in May so don't think I will be going back anytime soon read more

I brought my dog to get groomed. It looks like he only got a bath. No trim. No tooth brushing. No nail trimmed. He didn't get his fur around paws trimmed either. I asked when I got him back and was told the person that does the trimming wasn't there so I know they didn't clip him. Yes, he smelled good but $100 for a bath is far too expensive. I'll just continue to go back to Petsmart and get the grooming my pup deserves. read more

Just left petco in Englewood Ohio where I tried to purchase a bone for my dog. There was a box full of same kind of bones all priced for 5 bucks. Got to the counter and the bone rang up for 10 dollars. I asked the klerk to walk back there with me and clearly showed her the price on the wooden box full of bones. Her response was customers clearly mixed them all up. My response was no they didn't. I said if the price is marked on the box as this was then you should sell it for that price. She wouldn't do that so I left without that bone. This happens way too much at the Englewood store to be all accidents. Just a heads up !! Question everything you buy there !! read more

I entered this store right after being discharged from the hospital and was n a cane to make a simple purchase for a few fish for my aquarium to enjoy while I recuperated during the 4th of July weekend. I needed new ones as nearly all of Petco's previous fish untimely died (while the current ones did not) and were reported to one who identified herself as the manager of that section, employee #375534. The previous purchase was one Algae Eater for $1.99 purchased from employee #3339898 on 05/25/21 and died within 2 days. #375534 told me that I had to freeze the fish and bring it in for a refund; something I consider a rather barbaric policy. Notwithstanding, I purchased more to replace on 06/23/21 from her in transaction #5095 for $9.63. Both approx 2" Algae Eaters and one Danio died within a week of purchase (while the current ones did not in a well settled, biologically balanced 20gal understocked tank). This brings us to my release from the nearby hospital on 07/02/21. I was met by the most unpleasant and bossy young female, employee #339898, who told me what I could purchase and what I could not. Outrageous. I attempted to purchase 2 replacement small Algae Eaters for the ones who prematurely died and was REFUSED. She demanded to know the size of my aquarium (without inquiring to find it was mathematically understocked) and REFUSED to sell me replacement Algae Eaters, and upsold me to a maximum 3 tiny Catfish Otocinclus @ $2.99ea. This came up to $9.64. She then REFUSED to sell me a replacement small Danio, and said I would have to put the Catfish back in order to purchase a 2" Danio. I told her how offended I was, and she acted like she did not care, and she stated she was the manager of the aquarium section. I asked for her name, and she refused and stated it should be on the receipt (it was not, but her ID is #339898). Noting the store #03829 had the WORST smell I recall in a pet store and had an aquarium section that looked like a fish mill with extreme overstock and dead fish in their 10-20gal tanks, I then left the store as my post-op pain was matching my anger. Of course and as is typical for this store, in a short time I found one Catfish dead, then another, now with ony one living. I would say emphatically, if you do not have to go to Petco #03829 as the closest, do not. I have been an aquarist for over 30 years, and I have never seen rapid death rates for purchased fish as this in a well-settled aquarium. This Petco #03829 needs to do much, much better. read more

Disappointing in comparison to the Dayton Kettering store. Very disorganized, non attentive staff, and just overall needs to improve. Aquatic center had a lot of mislabeled tanks, snail infestations, and worse of all dead fish. Even hardier fish known to tough out poorer water conditions were belly up and it's just disappointing. Shelves looked a mess. It was just bad. Hope that things do change for the better though. Staff wasn't rude whatsoever. read more

The hours are ridiculous during the pandemic. How do they expect other "essential employees" to buy pet food when they are opened from 10-6? I work from 9-6. Time before I was in they said I had to leave my kids in the car. We had too many in our party. Ok...let me leave my minor children in the car so I can get arrested. I really like some of the products but the service in this store has gotten very bad. The people they are hiring now just don't care. It's all about a pay check. What happened to people who actually care about their job and doing well? So disappointed in the service I have been getting. read more

For the third time in a row Petco has not kept my grooming appointment. The first time the person that checked us in said my dog did not have all his vaccinations (which he did), so they rescheduled for a date after his next vet appointment. The vet confirmed he did already have all his vaccinations. Then the appointment that they rescheduled us for was canceled because the person that booked it scheduled it for the day off of the groomer. When we finally got him in we paid for a bath and cut which included a nail trim, that they did not do. It's not a huge deal, but it was included in my payment so it should have been done. Then today we took our dog to his scheduled appointment and we were waiting outside and none of the 4 employees inside came to the door (it was scheduled before the store opened). When I went to call them to let them know we were outside I realized the groomer called as we were driving there and would not be there in time for our appointment. I am pretty understanding to unforseen circumstances, but this has been a ridiculous experience and it is always something every time. We have booked an appointment with a new groomer and will never attempt to bring him back to Petco again. read more

I have taken my small Yorkie/Terrier mix, Cher, here for a while now. They have always done a great job. There was one time her hair was uneven, but I neglected her grooming for a while before I took her and Cher can be pretty difficult to hold still. So I blame myself on that time. I can tell the employee that does her most of the time loves her. I always come in with her and my Red Golden Retriever, Charlie, and the employees love them both. The one time I waited a while because the groomer was late Charlie and Cher were spoiled to death by the staff with attention and treats. They loved how well behaved they just sat and waited with me. My only complaint would be sometimes appointments can be too far out and you can't tip on your debit card. However, they are very accommodating. I can be in the gym for hours and they have no problem with me dropping her off and coming back later. read more

My poor girl! She plays under our shed, and she's soo matted. Petco is super convenient, so I took her in for grooming. The groomer let me know that she's have to go short to get out the mats...no problem since it's my fault for not brushing her regularly. But then the groomer called several times to let me know about different matted spots and how she'd trim her and blend everything. Then a call that it wouldn't be safe to groom under her ears and to come get her...strange but understandable. I picked her up and they hadn't bothered with nail trimming, ear cleaning, teeth brushing, and she repeated what we already talked about on the phone. But she had shaved around her legs and "hygienic area". I wasn't thrilled but they didn't charge and I didn't want them to hurt my dog if they couldn't do it safely. Once I was home, I realized that there was a spot where my dog was grazed with the clippers. The groomer claims that it was already there under the mat....I can't prove her wrong....but it's very suspicious that she couldnt be bothered to say anything during the phone calls to me or when I picked her up. The groomers were very nice, but I will not be back and would warn anyone I know about going there read more

So I should have never took my puppy here for grooming! I only took her here because I was in a bind and they only required up to date rabies shot. Initially her grooming fee was 43.10 but when we discussed the details I agreed to their "spa package" ($66). This place claimed my puppy was biting the groomer as they attempted to brush her. My puppy doesn't bite first. Second she loves to play. And third she loves belly rubs. They apparently bathed her while she was matted and then blow dried and attempted to brush. You can't expect to brush mats after all of that. She has always gone to PETSUITES BY THE DAYTON MALL without any issue. This place washed and blow dried my dog and called me but did not leave a message. I figured after two hours which is normal for her she must have been ready. I had my cousin pick her up for me and they told her we didn't have to pay because my puppy would not let her brush her. My cousin said my puppy started out of there so fast. She was sad the entire day tail between her legs. She could not see because of the blow out. I'm sharing three pictures of what petco did and one photo of what she normally looks like. Do not go there. Go see professionals. And on another note they have like no clothes to choose from. The staff there don't speak. They all have flat affects no expression never anywhere to be found when u need something. I did not call or go in to address my concern because I was so pissed and it was my birthday.
