    My little kitten
    Jamie M.

Worst PLACE EVER! I took my newborn kitten in that is 2-3 weeks old. My concern was he was having diarrhea and not eating. Well the Dr came in and examined him. At that time she was preparing to do his temp (of course rectal) at that time she stated "I wish I had a smaller thermometer because he is so tiny. Ok that statement right there made me think WTH. You would think she would just not take the temp with a regular size digital thermometer. Her assistant even suggested to do a tympanic temp the doc said it probably won't fit in his ear. Ok but yet you will put a huge thermometer in his rectum? AND HERE IS THE KICKER..... after inserting it in he was screaming and she held it in there until it beeped. Then said this isn't accurate it read 95 degrees Fahrenheit. Well let's fast forward. This was 6 days ago. He was swollen immediately after. And had a little bloody discharge. I still have to stimulate him to go potty. So he would be fighting me and trying to get away. I call back to Vetco today to ask about this issue.... Low and behold the liar of a doctor stated that she was not able to get his temp so she don't believe it is caused by that and suggested me to bring him back..... ummmm to charge me to exam my baby for WHAT U CAUSED?????? I DONT THINK SO!!!!! ⁉⁉PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS PLACE AND DO NOT TAKE YOUR BABY THERE AT ALL! I SHOULD HAVE READ THE REVIEWS THAT IS MY FAULT MOST DEFINITELY. I WAS PANICKING BECAUSE I RESCUED HIM AFTER HIS MAMA CAT WAS RAN OVER I JUST WANT HIM TO HAVE A CHANCE TO LIVE. SO PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE TO VETCO ON LAGUNA OR ANY OTHER VETCO⁉⁉ Sincerely 's mom

Mom and I brought in her 12-y.o. chihuahua mix to avail of the summer grooming package. Have previously taken her dog here as well to the Vetco side for her rabies vaccine, no issues then. Vaccinations are required for salon services. The cost for an XS short hair breed was $26, plus materials fee of $5.99. The "Bath" service was advertised to have included a bath, deep-cleansing shampoo, ear cleaning, blow-dry, 15-min brushout, nail trim, scented spritz, gland expression. "Clean Grooming service without parabens, phthalates and chemical dyes." Note that this does not include haircut, that's a different service (bath + haircut). Other packages could be added on: Routine/Essentials Plus +$24 (upgraded shampoo, conditioner, teeth brushing, nail buffing, paw balm), Shedding/Shed Release +$20-$30 (FURminator undercoat removal, shed-reducing shampoo and treatment, second brushout after shampoo, hydrating aloe treatment), Itching/Soothe & Repair +$26 (vet-recommended solution, conditioning spray, teeth-brushing, oatmeal shampoo, healing balm, nail buffering), Fleas Cleanse +$24 (flea shampoo, moisturizing conditioner, teeth-brushing, paw balm, nail buffing), Anxiety/Calm & Refresh +$26 (lavender shampoo and conditioner, scented spritz and paw balm, teeth-brushing and nail buffing). Appointment was made in advance, with text reminders. Arrived early and was able to check in after another customer. Two chairs in the waiting area near the entrance. We were helped mainly by stylist Lauren, but I think stylist Emily also helped with some check-in. Appointments take approximately 2-4 hours, with a 7-Point Pet Care Check to start. Estimated times: Check-in (~15 min), Brush and Clip (~30 min), Full Haircut (~45 min), Bath and Dry (~45 min), Report Card (~10 min). Estimated 2 hours, didn't receive texts after 2 hours so we returned and said it would be another 30 minutes wait. When we finally got the dog back, she was still a little wet as she "didn't like the dryer very much" and there was still loose hair (we did not opt for the shedding package). Nails trimmed fine, shampoo, etc. otherwise. Paper with SKUs given by stylist, which you take the cash register to be rung up/pay.

Our experience at Vetco, the veterinarian services offered in house at Petco: Not only can you select from an amazing array of food, treats, toys, and supplies for your beloved pet/s here, you can receive top-notch veterinarian care at the clinic within the store. Oriented to the right side, Vetco offers wellness care, vaccinations, dental cleanings, and microchips for your furry family members. We were absolutely blown away with the top notch care our beloved kitty received from the veterinarian and veterinary technician (Naomi). We were in shock and so grateful for the caring, compassionate, and skilled care our kitty received. I could not recommend a veterinary service to any higher degree than Vetco in Elk Grove. Out cat was treated with love and concern! From our warm greeting at the front desk to the amazing Naomi who got to KNOW our cat and let us stay in the room, our kitty explored and seemed to intuitively know the team was there to help her! Seeing the vet team gently hold Ichi for her exam and even take her temperature with minimal distress, we were overwhelmed with gratitude. The wonderful veterinarian gave Ichi a head to toe exam. Our kitty got a comprehensive wellness check, full suite of vaccinations, a feline leukemia snap test and vaccine (we will be back for a booster), and great guidance regarding diet, overall care, and flea/parasite control options. The cost for everything was $300 with a $25 coupon and we felt like it was the best money we could ever spend for our fur baby. Everyone was so kind and competent. They use a low stress restraint method here (no burrito wraps for cats) and let us choose whether we wanted to stay with kitty for her vaccinations or let her go to the treatment room. By that point Naomi had totally earned my trust so I gave her the choice. Kitty returned from her treatment room looking very good and even started grooming herself. We even got a phone call the next day checking on our cat after her vaccines. What a special touch! (She settled on my bed and nestled in the down comforter for a full 24 hours, without eating anything, but bounced back better than ever in 24 hours). I could not recommend a veterinary provider and more than Vetco. We were impressed with the knowledge, professionalism, and care for pets that was hard-wired into the epic team here. Kudos! Full disclosure: I have legit PTSD from how my dog was cared for years ago at veterinary clinics. She had late diagnosed Lyme disease, complications from spaying, and was poisoned by pesticides used for flea control. A lot of trauma and distrust resulted and unfortunately does affect my trust with vets. It's not automatic, it is earned. Back story before we went to Vetco: After adopting our cat through an informal process in mid-May, we looked diligently for vet care. Many vet practices that we were recommended were not taking new patients We got on a waiting list for a cat specific vet in June and I would periodically call to see if they had openings. By fall they told me there would probably be an appointment in December. I was uncomfortable waiting that long, so we then made an appointment with a different vet in East Sacramento and waited 1 month for the appointment. We got there on time and waited with our cat in the cramped, rather unclean waiting alcove for 45 minutes. What we saw in that time frame (plus the ridiculous unexplained wait) caused us to get up and leave. One man had issues with their dog's gaping and oozing wound from a surgery a week earlier and the front desk staff blew him off. He walked out with a $250 antibiotic prescription that I had gotten at cvs myself for $15. Another guy was hit with a $259 bill for expressing his dog's anal glands even though "we couldn't find anything." He looked shell shocked. Meanwhile my cat was getting more anxious by the minute. After our exit, I made a new appointment with a heavily advertised midtown vet. When we got there the receptionist made fun of our cat's weight (she is a bit chonky and yes one of the issues we want assistance with) but I was like internally "wow this is my family and you insulted her!" The bad vibes continued with the veterinary technician who treated our cat like a sack of potatoes, glaring at her in her carrier and got enraged when I asked to stay with my cat. She had to check if I was allowed and said petulantly, "You're going to have to get used to letting me take her back there at some point." I had had enough with her attitude and I said I wasn't comfortable with the attitude here and we left. We just tried to accept waiting until the end of December. Cut to a month later and my cat was seeming lethargic and I really got anxious. I had heard Petco had vet services but I was hesitant. And now you know the rest. We have a happy ending to our search for the best vet in Sacramento. PS the office and waiting room was spotlessly clean!

Working in customer service, it takes a lot for me to leave a business and not want to come back. I went in for cat food, and accessories to spoil my pets with, and came out with the cat food, and extreme discomfort as to how I was treated. It seemed to be relatively slow in the store, with one cashier on register, and two clerks chatting /ignoring me down an isle by the hamsters. Needing a restroom key, I approached the 2 clerks chatting. I politely waited. They ignored me until I had to interrupt their conversation. They shrugged me off to the front of the store to get a key from the solo cashier who was in the middle of ringing. So I approached 2 more clerks. Instead of helping me, they told me to wait in line for the key and went off to a room to the side to ring each other up for something. I felt completely ignored and they all seemed annoyed to be helping me. When I was finally rang up by Kate and her work friend, (the girls down the hamster isle), they never dropped their personal conversation. The little interaction Kate gave me was: "would you like your receipt?" I replied no, and she still handed it to me. If being ignored by a mean girls club is your idea of great customer service. Shop at this Petco, and specifically seek the assistance from Kate's work friend, (aka the clerk missing a left handed box cutter.) If this review gets to you ladies please just be aware of your surroundings when you're working. Be kind and engage with the people who are literally there to talk you and buy fun things for their pets. If they weren't there for the personal interaction they'd just buy it online. Also maybe instead of chatting so much, make sure the restrooms have the paper products they need.

Now that we are home, I am incredibly pleased with the outcome. Milot's behavior has shifted significantly for the better. Anthony spent two hours with me during pickup to ensure I understood the commands and techniques he used, and by implementing those daily, I've seen a massive difference in our routine. While the 'behind-the-scenes' of intensive training can feel a bit like a black box for a first-time owner, the results speak for themselves. If you are looking for a program that delivers a noticeable transformation, it is well worth the investment. I'm very happy with Milot's progress! Other things to note - Anthony was very responsive. Sent videos of progress and video chats as well - clean/brushed/bathe at least once before pickup - flexible with drop off and pickup Happy with the result. Highly recommend.

They let me know he wouldn't be able to stay unless he received professional training. With only two weeks before our trip, I reached out to PowerHouseK9. Anthony took him in for a week and made an incredible difference. He taught our dog to heel, walk calmly, and stop pulling on the leash. The improvement was obvious the moment we picked him up. Anthony is knowledgeable, patient, and clearly skilled at working with strong, high‑energy dogs. I'm extremely grateful for the results and highly recommend PowerHouseK9 to anyone looking for effective, professional dog training.

All I can say is: wow! My dog has never been happier and more well-behaved. Ironically, his approach, really, is about training you, the owner, to cultivate the behavior you want to see in your dog. He trains owners to address the root cause of behaviors, which leads to broad, systemic changes through energy-management and LOTS of positive reinforcement. Before finding Jaimie, I was worried I'd have to give my dog up to a sanctuary if I ever lived with another person who owned a dog because my dog's behavior was out of control. I no longer have that fear after training with Jaimie. He is truly a master of his craft, and I have full confidence his training techniques can work on any dog after seeing my dog's behavior transform. I have a 10 year old Shih Tzu that I adopted from the pound at 5 years old. She was constantly getting into trouble: jumping on furniture, marking in the house, pulling trash from trash cans, aggressive with kids and other dogs. I believed the folk wisdom that "you can't teach an old dog new tricks," and Jaimie shattered that myth within the first training session. Jaimie's approach is really quite simple, if you think about it: if you manage your dog's energy, and you set boundaries for your dog, you can create a completely new routine that your dog will adopt through your consistent, clear communication and praising good behavior. Over time, through consistency, you fall into a new routine, one where your dog listens and understands the expectations you've set, and it feels natural. Since beginning training, my Shih Tzu has stopped marking inside the house and outside during walks, stopped begging for food and stealing food from the toddler in my house, pulling trash from the trash cans, stopped barking at every little noise in the house, listens to my commands while walking on a leash, and no longer jumps on furniture. Additionally, she is generally happier, and more affectionate with every human she meets. Next, I'm planning to work with Jaimie on addressing my dog's anxiety with other dogs. All of the work the work you put into training really pays off, and I have full confidence that his techniques and attention to detail will help me guide my dog finally begin to trust other dogs. Trust the process, be patient with yourself and with your dog, remain consistent, and cultivate the behavior you want to see.

Several months ago, I found a husky mix on the street. As an experienced husky owner, I named her…read moreSky and decided to bring her into the family. However, I realized almost immediately that she had some serious behavioral issues--specifically intense leash aggression and barking--that I simply wasn't equipped to handle alone. After researching local options, I gave Bill at Sierra K9 a call. It was clear right away that he has a genuine passion for what he does. He took the time to listen to my specific goals: I needed Sky to truly become part of my "pack" and be well-behaved enough to join me at breweries, and events. Bill outlined his methods and experience in great detail, and we sat down to map out exactly what it would take to get her there. I opted for the two-week intensive Board-and-Train program. Bill made it clear that the training wouldn't end when I picked her up; he committed to meeting with me for as long as it took for me to feel confident. Throughout those two weeks, Bill and his wife, Shelby, sent regular progress reports, photos, and videos. Seeing her thrive gave me so much peace of mind--it was obvious she was making strides and was incredibly well cared for. On pickup day, Bill and I had a thorough hand-off session. While I was impressed with Sky's progress, Bill was honest with me: the foundation was there, but the real work was just beginning for both of us. When we got back home, I'll admit I struggled. The leash reactivity and pulling returned, and I felt completely hopeless. But Bill and Shelby didn't leave me hanging. They checked in daily, "talked me off the ledge" more than once, and quickly scheduled an in-person session at my house. When Bill arrived, he could tell I was frustrated. He calmly reminded me of the process and took Sky's leash; she immediately "snapped back into shape"--no pulling, no barking, just focus. He carefully observed my handling, gave me manageable homework, and, most importantly, helped me reframe my mindset. He taught me that training isn't a chore; it's an exercise in patience and a form of therapy for both the owner and the dog. Fast forward one month: I've been working with Sky every day and meeting with Bill weekly (and he is always perfectly on time). The transformation is night and day. While she's still a little better on the leash with him than with me (haha!), she is truly a different dog. I know now that with time and Bill's continued guidance, Sky is going to fit in perfectly. I'm actually enjoying the work, we celebrate the wins together, and I am sincerely grateful to the Sierra K9 team.

Bill was patient, knowledgeable, and very understanding of how overwhelming it felt. Bill took the time to assess each dog's behavior and explained everything in a way that made sense. The training methods were clear, consistent, and focused on building trust rather than fear. Over time, I started to see real progress, not just in my dogs' behavior, but in my own confidence handling them. Thanks to Bill's guidance, my dogs are now able to coexist peacefully, and the atmosphere at home is so much calmer. I'm truly grateful for his help and would highly recommend him to anyone dealing with similar issues.
