We met Bill during a difficult time for our fur family. Our Malinois, Cora, had suddenly developed a streak of dog aggression, a problem that became so bad, that we considered rehoming her. We signed up for Sierra K9's reactivity training, and from the first session, Bill impressed us with his apparent supernatural ability to command Cora's attention and get her under control. He helped us understand the reasons behind her problem behavior and taught us a process to correct it. By session 5, we almost didn't recognize our dog. Bill is a very personable trainer and regularly sought out our input and feedback on his training method. He took the time to show us our pup's behavior through his expert lens and explained the reason behind why our puppy would exhibit certain behaviors so that the training sessions made more sense. By training us in addition to our puppy, he made sure that we would continue to follow through with our pup once he left. He also checked in with us regularly and made sure we were doing our homework- not something that every trainer will do- as he put it, if we didn't succeed with our pup, then he didn't succeed. My wife is a veterinarian and has received many hours of training on behavior, but it does not replace a qualified trainer who can take the time to work with your puppy one on one and identify their unique habits that need to be fine tuned. And I couldn't be more satisfied with the results- I can see a true difference in how our puppy thinks and responds to situations! Our puppy is a livestock guardian breed, which can be notoriously difficult to train due to their independent nature. Awesome experience! We chose to board our boy Bruce for training. I spoke to Bill over the phone and after our first conversation I was sure he was the guy. He is genuine, personable, trustworthy, and above all he loves what he does and truly has a passion for dog training. During the training experience Bill kept us updated with photos, videos, calls, and text messages. He was very communicative throughout the process always sharing what he was working on and where Bruce was excelling. For pick up and drop off he was very flexible. Since Bruce's return he has made so many improvements big and small. For starters it's not a fight to put a leash or collar on he just sits and waits. I don't have to wrangle him to get him in his house he goes in with ease. He no longer cries in his house (Big Deal!!!) He knows and follows the command for sit, stay, down, and heel. He understands what no means and stops whatever he is doing when you say it. A few days after he returned we had a gathering and he greeted everyone sitting, including multiple kids.
