Yesterday Petco had a flood and no customer was allowed in the store I know this because I went to the store to buy a baby ferret and they said no customer was allowed in due to the flood They told me the baby ferret was still in there, and I could come back tomorrow So today I woke up and I got to Petco 10 minutes before they opened so I can be the first one in the store so I can buy this baby ferret Since no customer was allowed in the store yesterday an employee bought the ferret, and it was the same employee who told me to come back the next day to buy the ferret If customers can't come in and buy the animals, I don't think the employees should because I was at Petco yesterday way before the employee even bought the ferret and I was ready to buy the ferret and they told me I couldn't come in due to flooding, but the employee bought the ferret because she was allowed in the store because she was a worker read more

To be honest, Petco has never been on my radar. I always went to the other big pet store. We happened to be next door to Petco and I needed some dog food. So I thought we would save some time and go here. Wow...I'm so glad I did. I was shocked to see that they carried my favorite dog food. I had switched to another brand because I was tried of ordering it. They even had the wet food in the Orijen brand. They also had my dogs favorite chews that I can only find at a store an hour from me. What a find! I left with a cart full and a big smile. This is my new pet store! I couldn't be happier about it. I just want to make all consumers aware that Petco may claim they care about animals but that is so far from the truth on a daily basis they throw out pounds and pounds of dog food that could easily be sent to a shelter or donated to an organization that feeds stray animals they're going to claim that the food is outdated or been recalled and in some cases that may be so but in 80% of cases that is false there's absolutely nothing wrong with the dog food whatsoever and to make matters worse when they throw it away they open it and spread it all throughout the dumpster so that it cannot be used there is no possible way they care about anything other than the dollar I have also found live animals in their dumpsters such as fish and hermit crabs so to the consumers who support their inhumane habits you may want to think twice before buying things within this store don't give support to a company who clearly does not care about animals read more

I went in to find flea remedies for my many pets and home today. Found some monthly flea drops that were very expensive along with some spray for my furniture. It was worth the cost to eliminate the fleas and I was ready to pay it in full, though. Honestly though, I was really struggling to choke down the cost of it all as that is almost an entire weekly paycheck (2 weeks before Christmas). The two women at the register were very sweet and chatty...and even looked the items up online to price match without my asking them to do that. Their customer service skills saved over $50 on the items. I nearly cried...and I know they saw the tears well up in my eyes as I thanked them. While we were there we saw a lady grooming a poodle looking dog. She started pulling its front leg in a forceful manner. She kept doing this. The dog started pulling back so a coworker forcefully held the dog by the head. Do not have these people groom your dog. read more

I would give this place negative stars if I could. I went in to buy feeder fish for my parent's tank at home like I have about a hundred times. The man getting the fish and helping me was extremely rude, grilled me with questions about the tank, and ask for my id to buy fish and said I had to be at least 18. I am of age, but I have been going there for years to buy fish and have never once been asked that. My brother and I have been buying fish since we were 16 without a problem. When I told him I've never been asked to show my id and asked why he was needing it, he was rude and belittled me. If it is a new law or policy that is fine and i'm not arguing that. The way he went about it was not okay and I felt harassed the way he talked to me. He was creepy and uncomfortable. If you work at petco and see this, fire the fish guy who worked on Dec 6th 2020 at 1pm. read more

The fact that they collect food for Bi-State Pet Food Pantry gets them 4 stars in my book. We are huge supporters of the pet food pantry and all of the St. Louis area Petcos have a collection bin. The staff are always friendly and they always have what we need in stock. The store is always well kept and clean. read more

If I could give no stars I would. The ripped my dogs skin trying to brush her out after they had called to ask if I wanted them to try and get knots out or shave her. I said to shave her not to torture her. They had to rush her to the vet and get the skin glued back together. Also sent her home with pain pills. read more

My dog gets easily nervous and has seperation anxiety sometimes; but I know he's always in good hands when I take him to the grooming salon to see Briana McVey. He gets excited when he sees her, and she always does an amazing job. She somehow manages to make my dog look like a full blown schnauzer even though he's a mutt. I definitely recommend taking your dog to be groomed by Briana, she is a magnificent groomer, and will always take very good care of your pup. read more

I was nervous about the cut but told Theresa what I was wanting and she listened. When I picked him up he was perfect. Normally I go to this store and have no problems. This week when I went to buy dog food etc. I forgot to give them my 5$ coupon. I was told by the clerk that in order to use it, I would have to go to the back of the line, he would have to return everything and rerun it. Mind you I was spending in excess of 160$ in food and treats. It seems to me that something more could have been done to use the coupon and make the process work for all involved. This is a review of their saltwater fish....I have spent hundreds of dollars on saltwater fish from Petco in Edwardsville....I have had a saltwater tank for years....normally I buy my fish from local fish stores.....but I started buying fish from petco during times when they had sales...last summer EVERY fish I bought there was dead within a week. I checked and rechecked my water....everything was fine. Finally I complained to the manager that their fish were not healthy....he then accused me of having a problem with my tank...I let that go. Then a few weeks later I came in to buy a coral beauty angelfish. One of the employees stopped me and rather loudly said I was not allowed to buy any more fish there unless I bring in a water sample EACH and EVERY time I come in to buy a fish. He said it loud and in front of other customers. I am a seasoned aquarist so I was very insulted. I called the Petco main office to file a complaint.....I did so...and was told the district manager would call me back.....he never did and that was in October 2015. NEVER buy saltwater fish from Petco. They are unhealthy and they don't acclimate them properly to their tanks..needless to say I have NEVER been back to that Petco for Dog food or anything else....just a FYI...their Aquarium supplies are more than double the cost of anywhere else...... read more
