This particular Petco is smaller than most I have been to, because of its size it doesn't have the inventory you might be used to. In addition to this the isles are cluttered and they have displays blocking some of the pathways which make's navigating the store a complete mess. The only worker I saw during my 10 minute visit was the cashier who was polite, but in the future I will opt for a location where I can get everything I need in one stop. I have a senior dog and they knew he is old and matted although he had a bath a month ago.. today they shaved him half way then called me to pick him up because he is matted .. it is not professional not to finish the job!! They also said he is old and cannot stand for a long time for grooming !! Well this sounds like discrimination!! This is a somewhat small location. I popped in looking for pet Halloween costumes (feel free to judge me). They had a much better selection than most other places I had been to, and actually had sizes in between XS and XL. Pricing was not especially cheap for these items. But, I found a nice item on clearance. The store was clean and well-organized. They had all the standard food, treats, bedding, leashes, etc. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I have been taking my lab to petco for awhile and have him cut down without any problems. I was denied service for a scheduled appt because the stylist did not agree with how I cut my dog. I'm putting one star because the customer service tonight was terrible, the lady that was feeding the reptiles was horrible it was around 6:30pm, they close at 8. I wanted some koi in my take that I needed to cycle for a week and I wanted to have them in before my family came over for thanksgiving, so I went in because they close at 8, I asked the lady for some help with getting some koi, and he response was "aquatics is closed" and I just looked at her because the lights was on the store was on, and she said again" don't you understand fish is closed lights are off automatically", the koi's lights where on the turtles was on, so I asked "so you can't sell fish?" She said no, I think it should at least be posted or at least don't give someone attitude when going into a store who was excited and happy about getting and choosing some koi, like I worked for Walmart for 12 years, I would never come after a customer in a rude tone unless they did first, also it should be posted. read more

Y'all knew this review was coming! So, I had scheduled my 5 month old miniature poodle puppy a trip to the "groomer" I asked them to shave her face, her paws, and trim off about an inch and a half. The groomer tells me "well, it's her first time so let's see how she does" I made it very clear that I need her face and paws shaved, I was okay with her not removing the inch of baby fur (WHY NOT)? 4 hours later I come back to pick up my pup and wouldn't ya know it? No shaved face, no shaved paws, no inch trimmed off. My wife says "how'd she do?" Groomer replies, "amazing! The best I've ever had a puppy sit for me" So I'm looking at my dog and I'm realizing that all they did was trim around her eyes, paws, and butt. So, the employees seemed really nice and really sweet so I fet uncomfortable to complain, however I didn't tip because they didn't groom my dog like I asked them too. I call up for a refund cause after I got home her hair is still in her eyes and it's literally as if she didn't get a hair cut. So I call up explain my situation and this girl on the phone immediately got defense "UHM NO WE DID THE CUT EXACTLY LIKE YOU ASKED" like, you literally didn't, you know you didn't. The thing is, most people felt how I did, too uncomfortable to say they're unsatisfied or you feel bad, I tried to be nice about it this girl talked over me, then proceed after I explained to her that I have mental health issues I'm unstable and I'd really like if she'd just listen to me, then it became as if she was making fun of my mental illnesses. I'm not going to let this go and I'll be pursuing this AGGRESSIVELY, made me drive back and fourth for my refund, refused to give it over the phone and then in order to TRY and make it so I couldn't get my refund they told their manager they're "terrified" you weren't terrified when you were making fun of me on the phone and telling me to come in person and laughing right? SCUMBAGS This lady even said to me "yeah poodle cuts are really hard, best to leave it up yo the professionals " but then you couldn't do the cut? So you're tryna say you aren't a professional? Our experience at the Petco groomers today was wonderful, and it completely replaced the somewhat stressful experience I previously wrote a review about. Our groomer was very kind, knowledgeable, and attentive to our dog. She made the suggestion to try grinding our dog's nails down since our last experience with the plain nail trim was a little rough. The groomer definitely didn't steer us wrong! Our dog's nails look great, and the groomer was so so kind and reassuring to our pup. Our dog typically does not respond well when strangers try to pet her head or face, and I watched today as our groomer pet our dog right on the head without any issues from our dog. This showed me that clearly our dog likes the groomer (even though she hates the nail trim!) The previous nail trim seems like it was definitely just a fluke- maybe our dog was too squirmy or defensive that day. Thank you for replacing a somewhat bad experience with a really really good one. Swung by to get doggie shampoo and dog food. As you know by now I'm a bargain shopper. Well, I'm really not, I just know the prices of my regular purchases and have a real issue with items or food being over priced, especially when the quality is no better than somewhere else. The dog food roll I get is in the dog fridge at Target, the big log is $11.99, at petco, a log of the same size and quality though different brand is $17.99. The cheapest doggy shampoo at petco is $7.50, which I'm sure is not better than Walmart doggy shampoo at $2.75. this place is just too spendy, my dog really doesn't care about brands, he wants good food and the occasional bath. I took my puppy to get a haircut today and the lady was being very rude. Her name was Kasey, she did not at all try to talk to my puppy so that he can get get a little more comfortable, she just stuck her hand out unexpectedly and my puppy barked because he was scared and she did not want to give him a haircut after that. Our dog was having an issue with his harness while traveling so we decided to stop and see if we could find something more comfortable for him. The two employees that helped us were great, Jason showed us comfort harnesses and travel harnesses and helped us decide amongst the two. Our dog loved Jason, he can be finicky about who he warms up to and it was great to see how well our dog interacted with Jason. The lady, I can't remember her name, she is a former social worker and is learning to train service dogs, she was very friendly and helpful also. This petco goes above and beyond to keep their customers happy. My 4 cats, and 2 dogs are all very happy! The clearance bin always has something that I want for my furball friends, and they have a good deal on fancy feast from time to time. The groomers do a great job there, although a nearby place is much cheaper, and much faster. If I can't get my dogs in there, Petco is my next call. They have a hypoallergenic shampoo here, which helps with my allergies, and that is a plus. Its walking distance from our house, and the pup friends can go shopping with me, and I like that. I went in to make the exchange and after waiting for the assistant manager, was told they would not process the return. I've always been impressed with the customer service at this Petco. The majority of the time, you will be greeted immediately upon entering the store. There have been very few times an employee hasn't been walking past the aisle I'm on and stopped to ask if I needed assistance. One time, a guy even gave me a coupon for the food I was looking at that I could use that same day. Every little bit helps! They have great selections of all natural and grain free brands that I get for my dogs (Blue Buffalo for one and Wellness for the other). I honestly don't believe my dog is being properly cared for, like several occasions my dog never smelled fresh like she had been washed, only cut. On one occasion I picked up my dog and the manager said the price went up without any convenient notice. I asked the groomers for additional body sprays and she referred me to purchase some. So delighted with this Petco for grooming. I took my 4 month old Bernedoodle in today. They were so pleasant and knowledgeable. They were so good with our new pup, making sure he felt comfortable. As much as I really wanted his hair cut today, it was explained to me that cutting him with the shears on his first visit really wouldn't be a good idea as it's all so new to him and we didn't want to cause undue stress. I hadn't even thought about this, and she was absolutely right. So she cut around his face and butt, and did an amazing comb out. He's so happy and I couldn't be happier. When he was nervous with the blow dryer she let him have a timeout from it all. Such care! We most definitely will visit again. This is my favorite Petco in town. The manager is so nice and helpful; he's always rewarding my pup Crosby and I with extra discounts and free picks out if the clearance bin for being a loyal shopper! They keep a nice selection of name brand toys, and the Petco brand stuff is always really cheap which is great for a dog like mine that goes through several chew toys a week. I actually adopted my pup Crosby through DMK rehoming that does adoptions at this location most Saturdays! They helped me get everything I needed and even give adopted dogs big discounts on training. We love the training class! Crosby loved the puppy one class so much we signed up for puppy 2 and canine good citizenship through akc done through this store. The groomers at this location are wonderful also; Crosby always comes back clean and happy; and they do a great job clipping his nails. I've been to many local owned pet stores and several petsmarts and petco's but the extra friendly staff at this store and their great prices make this my #1 store for my pooch. read more

I have a Highland Australian Cobberdog. I took in a pic of how I wanted her face to look. I also asked for a sani groom. Very disappointed! Her face was cut way too short and I don't see that they did much of a sani groom. Her hair around her vulva wasn't trimmed at all. Her sani groom at the vet looked a lot different. They also wanted me to leave her there 3-4 hours. They asked me to sign a release in case she needed to go to the vet for an injury. I told them they were to call me first. I didn't wait 3-4 hours. When I got there the groomer was leaving. I did get my Charlie before she left. I told her I felt her face hair was too short. She offered no response. read more

This Petco has been great ... they price matched their online ad price on a puppy pen, saving me almost $50 ... and then later, when we got our puppy and found out within a day that he apparently had squirrel genes and could climb right out, they were very gracious about letting me return it. When my son was interested in getting a conure, we where happy to learn that the employees at this Petco take the time to socialize their birds with one on one playtime, something other pet stores don't bother with. Just recently I learned they have free puppy playtime classes on the weekends assisted by a trainer - we can't wait to go! I took my dog in for a groom for the first time at this location in December 3rd and Miranda shaved her down to her bare pink skin. Who does that to a tiny puppy during winter? She didn't listen to any of the things I said. I asked for my puppy to have a teddy bear cut around the face (round)....she saved her whole head except the ears. She now looks like a rat. She charged me $65 and when my puppy and I went to Petco in Santa Monica, CA we were only charged $45. Why so much more? Had to be an easier job when all you did was shave all her fur off? Rudy at Santa Monica Petco listened thoroughly and always took his time to ensure she was cutely groomed and was happy! When Leti had Fleas Rudy in Santa Monica didn't even shave her as short as Miranda from Denver did. I would never recommend going there or to Miranda. My dogs butt hurts because she shaved it so thin...think she has a razor burn. Then when I went to checkout I was helped by another terrible sales associate who told me that because my Coupon wasn't working she'd have to send me to the back of the line....the line was 10people long...why should I have to wait in line again after I'm already in front of you sales associate? I hope your manager sees this and talks to your team about the value of good customer service and the importance of listening to your customers. I have worked in sales for over 10years. I have taken my dog to the Petco groomer for a couple years and was always satisfied. But the new grooming manager is completely rude and unprofessional. I scheduled a grooming appointment for my dog like I always do. When I showed up to the appointment the manager asked for updated vet paperwork. I mentioned that those should be on file since my dog has been going there for years. She told me that my dogs rabies shot was outdated by 3 days so they would not allow him to be groomed. I called my vet while in the store and vet confirmed that it was 3 days overdue but that should not prevent a grooming as it was only a couple days. I understand that rules are rules but the way in which the grooming manager handled the situation was terrible. She was very rude. When I mentioned that it would have been nice for her to let me know when I made the appointment she did not apologize and just said that was my issue. I will be finding a new groomer. read more
