Super wet ear after grooming on my cocker
Magali C.

My dog came out with wet ears. Excuse was that she wasn't happy in there. She's a cocker spaniel and is prone to ear infections which I made very clear. Don't text me and tell me that my dog is ready if I have to finish blow drying her myself. On top of that they have the audacity to charge a dematting fee (dog was shaved anyway) of additional $7. Total came out to $67+ $12 teeth brushing + $7 de matting + $5.99 material fee. What on earth is a material fee??? So your hidden fees are simply $80 for bath/haircut for an 18 pound dog. Unreal. You are just as expensive as nicer groomers. Makes no sense.

Michelle was so amazingly helpful, kind, patient and went above and beyond to keep me safe. Richard, Tim and Hayden worked hard to get my needs met and keep me safe. This is the best customer service experience ever. Thank you for helping us find a muzzle even though it was soooo tricky and hard.

I appreciate the "Unleashed" Petco stores but the bigger Petco stores are best, simply because the selection is sooo much better. It's good to go into the big Petco store once in a while so you can see how much of a step down it is to shop in their Unleashed stores. For example at my local unleashed, they stopped carrying a certain favorite pet treat but I found them at this big Petco off of Via De La Valle. I might consolidate my Whole Foods run with Petco from now on...

Grooming department is an absolute headache to deal with! Girls are downright rude and lazy.

Yin Yang K9 - River at the training grounds

We also moved from Northern California to Southern California, which meant a new house, a new yard, and no roommates that she was so used to having around. There are so many changes, plus suddenly being home alone or going to daycare. River always suffered from anxiety. Dalek was the only one who was able to calm her down. Her anxiety made it difficult to socialize with others because she was always defensive. Daycare wasn't a great place for her as she was isolated in her own space but could her and smell the rest of the dogs. Luckily, we came across Ying Yang K9 training business card. It took one call for us to fall in love with them. When we met Jordyn and Dylan in person- we knew it was the right call to make. They arrived at our home and we were out front with River. A dog was coming near, I was in panic mode. Before any intros, Dylan had Rivers leash, kept calm handled River, and the other dog passed by. There was no incident, River was calm, and the husband and I were shocked. From this 1st lesson, I could see huge improvements in Rivers' confidence. Plus, we learned how to reassure her and communicate effectively with her. By lesson 6, River was a completely different dog. The anxiety has subsided so much. She looks happier. She is definitely more confident. And we learned how to better bond and communicate with her. They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks. River is a senior dog (though you'd never be able to tell), and yet, here we are literally teaching her new tricks while she has so much fun. I can't thank these two enough for the difference they made in our lives. I look forward to continuing our lessons to both physically and mentally stimulate River and continue building on the results already attained.

The basic puppy classes focus on socialization, simple commands, leash walking, etc. Both of my dogs enjoyed the classes and although they have selective hearing, they benefited from her courses and early introduction to other dogs and humans. She is extremely flexible in make-up classes which is great since weekends can be busy. What I really found to be the most wonderful thing about Andrea is that once you have taken her classes, you can continue asking questions in the future about behaviors, etc. My friend and I texted her about safe introductions and I texted her about resource guarding when I got a new puppy, before she had even met him. She is highly committed to dog training and their success. I also utilized her 1:1 training services for my first dog who has zero recall and had some safety issues as a puppy (opening the oven, trying to jump on counters like a cat, weird stuff) so she came to the home a few times to target specific behaviors. I found her prices to be reasonable and her homework to be useful. Our classes had dogs ranging from 5 pounds to 70 pounds so she can definitely adhere any training needs to your dog and adapts on the spot. Highly recommend! And again, if you're wanting more than just basic sit, stay, lay down, socialization, you would probably want to continue on to the more advanced classes, as the basic puppy course we took was simple and focused more on socialization and basic cues!

Bark Busters came to us highly recommended. After some research and reviewing Ted Talk and…read morearticles, I signed up our two rescue mix breed ~20lb boys. We are grateful to James of BB who placed us with Jenna. Our boys issues: high reactivity outside, especially other dogs, and inside, door bell, ring cameras, etc. Coupled with greetings by jumping and owning the house. Jenna set us on a path of activities for inside and was incredibly patient letting me share and ask questions, learning constantly. As we fine-tuned and we all got more comfortable we moved our training to outside. The methodology used is absolutely amazing and, I dare say, short of a miracle. We practice regularly and introduce the boys to different circumstances. All that food luring and positive food reinforcement training certainly has its place but only the techniques of BB with Jenna has helped our boys become trusting, comfortable, and happy. Here I thought I had to scan the horizon constantly to be aware of incoming dogs to prepare myself to hide behind a car or go in the corner behind garbage cans to get maximum distance. Not true. I walk no longer with my head on a lazy susan. We all are forever grateful. Our boys can lead richer more social lives. Thank you!!!

As first-time dog owners, the early support really did help us. Having someone we could call during those overwhelming first months was a relief. Over time, though, I realized I was hoping the training would shift toward more positive reinforcement. The constant, harsher corrections worked at first but eventually didn't seem effective anymore and started affecting my relationship with Mimi. I noticed this during a family trip where Mimi, who is usually fearful of strangers, bonded more easily with my husband and his family. She gravitated toward them when scared, and I realized it might be because they weren't following the correction-heavy approach, while I was. I also asked for help with Mimi's fear and reactivity toward other dogs, but was told they didn't have dogs available for training and that I would need to bring a calm, socialized dog myself. As a non-trainer, that was very hard, but we tried by traveling many hours to introduce her to my husband's family dog. The experience ended up being chaotic since the family didn't fully understand what the process required, and new people and dogs kept appearing even though Mimi wasn't ready. Her reactivity came back in that environment, which made me feel like the training had only put a bandaid on deeper fear issues. Maybe I should have clarified expectations better from the start, but with a high-need dog and being new to all of this, I didn't know what to expect. Since then, we've switched to a positive reinforcement trainer who organizes structured group activities. Mimi is still scared of bigger dogs and can still be reactive, but she's improving slowly and has been able to meet a few smaller dogs. She's also still fearful of people, but she nips a lot less now, so progress is happening. Overall, Bark Busters helped us in the beginning, but long-term we found that a different, more positive approach has been a better fit for Mimi.

Recently, a manager raised concerns about one of my dogs who has always been "high octane" and when I engaged in a constructive conversation with the owner that included my own observations about unsafe drop off procedures, two of my dogs were disinvited from participating in camp anymore (including one kamp had never raised any concerns over). Really disappointing that Kamp would treat a loyal customer this way and after the owner, Gian, represented to me the business day before that he was committed to working towards solution. They've turned into one of those places that is interested in easy dogs and easy money, not longevity of a client base. Goodbye from a good client that paid $600 per month.
