I'm not thrilled about this place. I own a standard poodle and his cuts are usually expensive. I'm ok with that because I knew what I was getting into when I bought the breed. However, I didn't care much for the random bald patches on his body. 3 to be specific. I get that dogs move during appointments but there are giant patches on his neck & chest. I think what irritates me the most is that they strategically do not tell you about their mess ups. It's not Easter. I'm not looking to hunt for mistakes. Tell me *everything* that occurred. They were quick to tell me it took more than one person to hold him (he's had a poor experience earlier this year that I told them about). My dog wasn't returned to me bleeding or in pain. I certainly can't cut dog hair myself. But I'm not very fond of their customer service as a whole. Would not be coming back. read more

We have been bringing our 60 lb pittie Catahoula mix here for nail trims and buffing since she was a pup and recently brought her in for her first bath. I know bathing her is no easy task. She is a big strong girl who tries to escape the tub every time we try to bathe her ourselves. I was impressed by how amazingly soft she came back. We will definitely be coming back! The only thing preventing this review from being 5 stars was the timing, initially was quoted 2 hrs for my 2:15 appointment but she wasn't actually ready until 5:30. Poor Business - required unwritten grooming rules and would not groom our dog for a scheduled appt. It takes nearly two weeks to schedule an appt. to get a dog trimmed. We scheduled an appt., followed the prescribed rules bringing rabies vaccination status. I have have an older dog that requires minor form of relaxation at a weak strength. I mentioned this to the groomer b/c my dog was scared and the groomer DENIED service and returned the dog saying that this was PetCo policy to not groom a dog that was on even a mild sedative. We called in the manager, Andy, and he could provide NO documentation online, on paper or anywhere else. This approach is recommended by our vet for grooming, nail trimming, etc. b/c it is an older dog and easily frightened. This is also not our first time at this PetCo. We have brought our dog here multiple times before and this has not been an issue. In addition, we returned home and called 2 other groomers and asked what to do for a nervous dog and the solution with a minor sedative is what was recommended. PetCo, this devalues the time it takes me to schedule, plan, and bring my dog to your store as well as puts us in a real pinch as we have to wait another 2 weeks to get in anywhere. This is poor business practices and poor customer service. read more

This is for the clinic they run called Vetco. I took my dog in for vaccinations, a heart worm test, and a prescription for heart worm meds. I was told on the phone by an employee of the store that it would be $79 (there's no pricing information on the site when you make the appointment). After the appointment I was handed a bill for over $130. I told them that I was told the cost for service would be $79, which makes sense since this is supposed to be a low cost clinic. The $130 is only $10 less than what my vet would charge. They said no, this is what they charge. I pay it and get the prescription for my dog's heart worm meds and it's for the wrong brand. The vet tech said not to worry because the kind I need is a generic form and I can just have my online pharmacy call Vetco and it would be approved. Fast forward a month, three canceled orders, and 11 phone calls later and I still don't have my dog's medicine. Every order has been declined because Vetco has told the vendors that my dog is not a patient. Vetco is telling me that the prescription has been filled even though I have all of the order cancellation papers and bank statements showing otherwise. Still no resolution and Vetco is now saying I have to bring Poppy in again for a full visit if I want the prescription to be filled. That's another $80! Stay away from this company! There is nothing low cost about them and I believe their practices border on criminal. read more

The grooming salon for my dog was horrible experience. They left him a long cut near his arm after he got his hair cut. I was really disappointed. In addition, when I was there to pick him up I saw there was a small dog getting his hair cut and I was very disappointed with the way they were treating the dog while cutting his hair. They were grabbing that small dog really aggressively and clearly you could tell the dog was really scared. I personally will never be taking my dog back. read more

Don't take your dog here. The only reason I gave them two stars is because they got the job done, they did wash my dog, but why settle for that when there are a ton of better options? When I arrived at the grooming counter two workers were sitting there. They didn't greet me, I had to say hello and tell them I had scheduled ahead of time. Okay, not great customer service but these are young adults, that's fine. I get my dog checked in and sign the paper work and I'm told it will be 4 hours. When I scheduled the appointment, I was told 2. Because of this, I was no longer going to be able to pick my dog up myself due to work and would have to arrange for someone else to get her. I asked what they would do to ensure my dog got picked up by the correct person. I was informed that it "doesn't matter, we just assume it's the right person that pays for the dog". Though it's not store policy, I asked if they could check id to ensure it was the correct person to ease my mind. I gave the name and phone number of my father law who would need to pick her up. The groomer, Sarah, was still combative and indifferent about my concerns. I spoke to a manager and he eased my mind some. 4 hours later my father in law contacts me to see if they had called about my dog being ready. They had not called either of us! He called and she had been ready for an hour without letting us know. If he would have waited any longer, there store would have closed working the next hour. Luckily, he was able to get her and they did check his ID. Overall, it was a mediocre experience and I would try somewhere else before coming back. read more

Came into the store, and to say we didn't know what we needed for a dog would be an understatement. I'm sure we had a puzzled look, as a lady named Rose came up and asked us if we needed help. She didn't say in a passing way, she truly meant that she is there to help us. Although the inventory in this location doesn't cater to my needs, what they do have is top quality. I'd much prefer to drive past the Petsmart near me (it's like triple the size with half the selection) and head to Petco! The staff here has always proved very knowledgeable and friendly and provided outstanding customer service. I cannot speak for the groomers as I have never used this service here, the rest of the store though is the bee's knees. Did I use that correctly? Bee's knees are a good thing, right? The store opens at 10:00am, we walked up at 10:13am and the doors weren't open. That's fine, waited a couple minutes and then decided to call to see if they were actually open. Finally someone opens the doors, we do our shopping and my dog picked out a toy. The employee looked like he was trying to take it from my dog's mouth and asked "Are you guys going to buy it?" rather rudely, to which I replied "Why would I let my dog pick it up if we weren't going to buy it?". I have never been to Petco before. The staff was very considerate of my dog. She is 13 years old in December this year and they were very aware of her increasing stress level. They even expedited her bath and nail clipping and helped to calm her down. The young woman who took her on was so kind and spoke so very gently that Sadie calmed down quite a bit. I've seen many negative reviews about many grooming salons, but not this one. All the staff was super considerate and very sweet to both of us. Before I came here, I tried to go to PetSmart. The tech at PetSmart refused to use my Zodiac Shampoo for Dogs because it contained anti- flea and tick components. The employees at this store have always been friendly and helpful, especially with questions that could be answered not only instantly, but with useful insight and feedback as well. The store is always clean, which considering that people may bring their pets through, that says a lot for being on top of things. Prices are moderate to fair... If its a PetCo brand, you can be sure that the price will be best, but for clumping action on litter, well... the price reflects the action... There's a bulk section for dog treats (don't open to investigate without expecting a big nose full of uh-huh), and there's usually foods and treats on sale at the main entrance. read more

I needed a fairly large item in a hurry and the shelf was empty, so I asked the person working there if they had any more in stock, or if they had it in stock at another store I could drive to. She said she thought they had some in the back, and left to speak to a manager. Shortly later she returned, and said, yes they do have them in the back, but they would not be opening the box they were in for another 3 days (it was Monday) and I could come back on Thursday to see if they opened the box. I explained I needed it in a hurry, and would she please check inventory of the other stores to see who has it on the shelf that I could buy. She pulled her iphone out, and after a bit, told me that Target carried them, and I should go there or maybe Petsmart. She showed me the picture on her phone, and it was a different item. I took my 10-month old goldendoodle to them for grooming and he came back looking like a completely different dog. We specifically asked the groomers to leave his hair long and natural-looking and they shaved it all off completely and left only his ears and tail untouched. Even then, the hair is patchy in many areas and you can see his bare skin in some places. They also clipped my dog's nails too short and he was bleeding for a week on-and-off after we picked him up from the grooming place. You could see the skin where they cut it too short. They are also extremely overpriced for the quality of their service. They charged me $90 just to shave all the hair off of my dog. I am extremely dissapointed in the quality of their service, and I will not be taking my dog there ever again. read more

Several people had recommended Petco. I sure didn't expect what happened. I brought my puppy in, a labradoodle, and had a horrible experience. I think the groomer did try, but did not have the skills needed. When I picked him up she said that I shouldn't bring him again and should go somewhere where he can be medicated. He was so upset that he didn't eat for a day and a half and if he wasn't in my lap would go into his crate. This is NOT his typical behavior. I took him to the vet the next day and she checked him out and said nothing was wrong with him. He let her do whatever she wanted. My vet said not to go back. I also realized that the groomer must have cut his ear pretty deeply. There is a huge scab on it. Thinking this may be why he wasn't happy with her. The icing on the cake is that I went in to buy a treat for him and now there is no record of me ever having a rewards card with them. Guess they don't want me coming back either. read more

The isles are very tight, and there simply is not enough space for all of the displays that they have. I scheduled a $45 cut and shampoo for my 10lb dog. Only to be charged $86 when I picked him up. My dog was shaved to a one but somehow I was charged and addition $10 for brushing and an addition $25 for a brush out. Brush out? He was shaved! When I asked about it, the girl shrugged her shoulders and said " Our prices have gone up." What? They went up since Saturday when I scheduled the appointment online with pricing? No, the price did not go up. The cut and shampoo was still $45 but I was charged an additional $35 for services that I did not request or authorize. My family has been using their grooming services for years and have never been charges like this or received such bad customer service. To add insult to injury..... $86 later, he still has stray long hairs on both ears. It was a quick chopshop of a haircut that cost almost twice as much as authorized. read more

I won't be back. I used to shop at this location very frequently for dog food. I always just had a neutral experience there. I went in there today to try to get more links for my dogs prong collar to extend the length since he gained about 25lbs since I got it from our trainer. I use the xs links for my 105lbs great pyrenees because they distribute the weight and pressure more evenly and the prongs aren't long enough to penetrate his thick, 2 inches of fluff around his neck. I couldn't find what I was looking for, so I asked a sales associate for help. I said I was looking for prong links to which he said, "we don't sell that here." I corrected him and informed him they're on the website and I was literally just looking at them in the training needs aisle. He then said, " well, why does your dog need that? Like what does it do?" I'm assuming he was going to try to sell me a different product like a gentle leader or something. I just said, "this is what his trainer equipped us with and trained him on. I use it to keep him in heel on walks." He then said, "oh so he pulls constantly on it then?" And I said, " no, he knows not to pull with this on and stays in a heel. He won't heel in a harness or regular collar." To which he replied with, "yeah, I wouldn't pull if I had THAT around my neck either." This person seems to have no knowledge of prong collars, yet insisted on making me feel like an uninformed, terrible pet owner. What he doesn't know is that I have worked in the pet care industry for about 5 years now (and still do), and I'm very informed of all training tools, the pros and cons of them, and how to properly use them. Prong collars are harmless and used and sized properly, which I clearly strive for considering I'm looking to adjust the length of my dogs collar. It's unfortunate this store is employing passive aggressive people who aren't as educated on all things pets as they like to think they are. It's fine to not be educated on something, but it's not fine to pretend you are and then shame a paying customer for doing the best thing for their pet. read more

My dogs and I come here frequently. The staff always remembers their names and make a point to greet them and give them treats. I love this because my boys aren't that social, and the treatment at Petco has really helped them open up. However, my dogs are long-haired, and require frequent haircuts. Not only did the groomers do a terrible job of cutting my bigger dog's hair, but they didn't cut his nails, and didn't tell me. I ended up with an injured dog and an infected foot. $60 + vet bills? Not at all worth it. When I confronted the groomer, they called my dog "aggressive." The store is great, but don't ever take your dog to groom here. We now go to PokaDog at Camp Bow Wow and love it. read more

Took my sweet "senior" dog to get a grooming. By the time I got home, (within 5 minutes!) the groomer called and said they bathed him but he started acting like he was having seizures and she had to take him out and put a towel over him. I sped up there, (once again within 5 minutes), and there he was with some lady from the store petting him while he sat on the floor. HE WAS SO GLAD TO SEE ME! This lady, who was not the groomer I left him with, told me that the sound of the dryer seemed to unnerve him and he started showing signs of a seizure and that his tongue started to turn purple! They asked if he had any record of seizures, had he been checked by a vet lately, had he ever been to a groomer before. I told her no seizures, we had a regular vet and that he had been to a groomer before. I told her, rather firmly, that I was leaving, never to return and that I'd take my dog to the vet myself. {There was more conversation here but not of any relevance}. On the way out the door, I asked to speak to the manager just outside. As I was explaining why I was so angry, the lady who had been holding my dog when I came in, walked up to us outside, said she was a district person and she would be happy to address my concerns! Basically, I told her that I had already told her my concerns and that I was taking my dog ASAP to our vet. Our super vet is down the street and I took my doggie in and she took time to give him a once over. Bottom line, my dog is fine and there's no sign of seizures. The vet also said, "Well, his tongue is just naturally purplish." What the what???? He has arthritis in his back and it's a possibility his back hurt when they lifted him into the tub. I WILL NOT GO BACK TO THIS STORE! My sweet baby will go to the vet for his grooming from now on! read more

Previous to my visit I had adopted a senior dog who was extremely timid and had severe trust issues - against humans. The folks in the grooming salon were extremely sensitive to the issues this little girl has. Gentle and kind to the maximum they made her as at ease as possible. Gentle hands, low, kind voices and obvious care for their little customer made her experience as good and as gentle as possible. We shall visit often. read more
