I was in a few days ago and at the door they had free samples, This isn't unusual for a pet store, but what was unusual is they had separate samples for dogs AND cats. I feel like cats are not nearly as often given freebies, I am so used to walking into a store and seeing all the dog biscuits and toys right at the register but it's always oriented to dogs, I just genuinely really appreciate this store for taking the time to think of cats too. Do not bring your dog here for grooming! I took my dog for nail grinding and face feet and sani trim. The groomer severely quicked her nail - cut extremely high up on the nail into the vein. It has been over 24 hours since her appointment and even with quick stop and bandages I have not been able to stop the bleeding. I have spoken to her vet, they told me to wait a little longer and keep changing her bandage then bring her in if it doesn't stop. I called Petco to let them know. Their response was, "well, the groomer said she jumped so, it happens". Nail grinding is hard to quick a nail like that, you have to try really hard. I also got a face, feet, and Fanny trim. The sanitary trim is ridiculous. The groomer just hacked away at the fur on her stomach and didn't touch her sanitary areas at all. Terrible groomers, even worse service. Not all business are managed equal. Not all petco are are operated the same from location to location. Not all people have good work ethics. Not all managers are doing the job like they should be doing. I'm not rating this store based on if I was greeted or if my dog got the attention I expected or if I'm being harassed if I need help right away. Yes some petco are bad because these are not people who go to school to get a degree in pet knowledge. These are normal people learning on the job and have pets themselves like their customers or have been in the pet hobby for quite some time. Consumers expect way too much and to be babies and have somebody hold their hands while shopping. I've worked pet retails for many years and no matter how much they talk bad about their "competitors" no pet store company is better or worst than the other because it's all about the managers who run the store to make it a success. There are failing petco because some employees are not capable of properly caring for the animals they sell and just go based on what online researches said. It's easy said than done. I always have a good experience with this petco. Great prices on marine life with a person who knows what they're doing in the aquatic section. I hate to say but for the same service you'd get in retail no matter if it's big corporation or independent run business. This petco location has local fish stores beat in prices and selection for aquatics. Knowing something in the fish hobby with pet retail background the source for many fishes we buy in store are coming from the same collectors around the world to the distributors, to the wholesalers then the pet stores. Segrest fish farms is one that distributes to pet company chains like Petsmart, petco, petsupermarket which I used to work for based in Florida and more. I can say for a fact petsmart people do not know how to take care of their fish livestock. Social media likes to talk bad about petco marine aquatics always having ich but little do they know the source of the product they're getting. Even if they got it from a different store once acclimated to a higher salinity the fish will be stressed from it to still get ich or marine velvet in the consumers home. Can't complain about this petco. They're doing great! Keep it up! This store has reliable marine aquatics first in my list. 90% stock I have in my tank is from this store from sand, rocks to livestock. I'll keep driving 30 minutes from prospect park Minneapolis to this location every time even when there's a petco that's only 10 mins away from me. One very last thing to add, those people who wants their dog to get attention as soon as they walk in there's chuck and dons across the street (another company I've worked for) they can go to for that just like there's petsmart across the street too for fishes that are also from the same place petco gets. Difference is who has the experience in pet husbandry the most that works there. Again it's all about management and product knowledge that makes a business succeed. I can say for sure the company I worked for as much bs as they talk about other business doesn't make them any better. Management is what fails to hire the right people with work ethics. Terrible overall experience, will not be shopping or grooming my dogs here ever again!!!!!! I showed up for my dogs scheduled grooming appointment and the groomer turned me away saying they do not groom dogs who are "nervous", in perspective what she meant by nervous is a crying dog, just like every other dog there. Yet, she suggested I try to groom him at the Blaine location because my dog knows one store from the other. It honestly looked like they overbooked themselves, making customers waste their time showing up just to be turned down. read more

The Petco grooming has gone through some adjustments since I have been going there 2 years. Regardless of the store situation whoever is in the grooming department has always done an awesome job with my to two dogs Patience and Peetey. Couldn't be more pleased with the service I just received 6-12-19. I do not remember his name but he was awesome with my dog Patience. Also on the store side, had questions about the types of dog food, lot of questions. Cathi was extremely helpful and when she couldn't answer a couple questions, she called Dan. Dan was very awesome and knowledgeable, took the time needed to figure out what I needed for my dogs. All the employees I have met, Olivia and Destiny included have been very helpful and kind. We took our shih Tzu poodle recuse to the groomer here. She does not like being in a kennel and she spent over an hour in the kennel, after she was bathed. She was put in the kennel wet too. We specifically told the groomer not to put her in a kennel and that when she is in a kennel she becomes extremely anxious and they did it anyway. Then when she was finally groomed we asked for an trim and instead she was completely shaved, except the top of her head and her tail that they left alone. Mediocre at best. They don't seem to care about your pet you bring in (at least the cashier I had this past Monday didn't seem to care). I will be bringing my dog to Petsmart across the street from them from now on. read more

Terrible service, if you can actually find someone and get someone to talk to you, then you may find they don't care about the pets they sell. Pets are products, with policies and prices. Should have gone across the street to pet smart. read more
