How the mighty have fallen! In the nearly three years since we've been taking our Pomeranian to Petco for grooming, we've seen the quality of service fall exponentially. Yesterday, I took Lily in hoping to have a good experience, but it wasn't to be. We've been letting her fur grow out because we want that classic Pomeranian look. I told the groomer that I didn't want her cut really close, that I just wanted her trimmed about 3/4 of an inch. What did I get? A dog that doesn't resemble a Pomeranian AT ALL! And the groomer (I wish I could remember her name) said, "Well, if she'd had a double coat, this look wouldn't be a good one for her." Um... hello? Pomeranians are double-coated dogs! What the actual... ??? I asked to speak to a manager and expressed my dismay and unhappiness at the job the groomer did. I asked him at the very beginning of our conversation if he could identify Lily's breed and he had no clue. I had to tell him that she was a Pom, and she sure didn't look like one post-grooming. I received no apology, only a half-hearted, "Well, I guess I could comp the cost of the grooming." Please, Mr. Manager, don't knock yourself out on our account. I've attached before and after photos. If you notice her sanitary area under her tail and down her back legs, she was SHAVED in spots. Unacceptable! A knowledgeable groomer would know that you cannot cut a double-coated dog that closely because you risk the fur not growing back properly, and it can be a life-long issue. To say we are not pleased is the understatement of the century! In the beginning Petco did such a good job. Now, I'm unwilling to risk another repeat of this latest fiasco. read more

This is the 3rd time I have taken my little Yorkie-poo to the groomers here. The first time was just a puppy wash to get him used to them. The second time he had an allergic reaction to the shampoo and cologne they used. This time I told them to do the sensitive skin package and no cologne and the same cut as the last time. Well, he did not get the same cut by far. There were a bunch if spits that they completely missed. One of his nails was cut so short that he was bleeding 2 days later. They didn't clean his anal glands. His ear hairs on th inside and out were not trimmed at all. I had to trim them myself. I pay for the membership and that stops now. I will never take my furr-baby there again. read more

I took my two dogs here to be groomed. I payed for the Bath and Deshedding Plus package for both (appx. $85 each). I immediately noticed that my male dog still had clumps of shed in his bum. The groomer let me know that he attempted to site most of the time, so I decided to go ahead and brush both of them out with my furminator tool, and this is how much hair came out of both of them! I was appalled at how much came out of his back and neck area! If I am paying an extra $40 to get them deshedded, it needs to be done correctly. read more

3.7 Stars. Very small store. I wanted a particular cat tree like the one I bought at my former Petco in Florida but it was not available here. We got a smaller one instead and took a chance on these salmon greenie cat treats to freshen my cats breath and clean his teeth. He is addicted to them. Customer service is fair to good. The pets in the store always make me smile. I am always tempted to buy a beta fish here but my cat would terrorize it. read more

Had great things but I tried to purchase a hermit and the crabs with painted shells costed 11.99 for even though the shell can kill them and when the person that was getting my hermit that didn't have a painted shell the worker named miracle asked if I had a tank I said a ten gallon she asked if I had one already I said yes she said that they would fight each other and kill each other so I left and went to another store they are best friends read more

We had Angie groom our minature poodle since our regular groomer moved. I love shopping at petco and I had high hopes for their grooming salon. Unfortunately I was severely disappointed. When I picked him up, I first noticed she didn't pluck his ears. So I called back (I was already running late for a prior engagement) and they said to bring him back Sunday. Well, when I got him home, I was able to check him out. This is when I noticed the awful razor burn under his chin, on his neck. Through the evening, it bled pretty consistently. I took him back Sunday and showed the manager. They cleaned hm up and gave me aloe spray for him. Angie told me she didnt pluck his ears because they were red (although she didnt feel the need to tell me about it when I first picked him up). I was willing to let it go until I took him to the vet to have his ears plucked. When they looked at him, they said his ears were fine and there was no reason she should have skipped plucking them. So on top of the outrageously expensive haircut, I had to pay the vet another 60 to pluck and clean his ears (WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE BY THE GROOMER). Angie was unprofessional and did not even meet my expectations. Not to mention she felt the need to say negative things about me because I complained about her work. I will never let her near my dogs again. If you want to try Petco grooming, the only person I suggest using is Jessica. read more

Usually Petco does an outstanding job at grooming our two dogs, but not this time. We took our dogs for a de shedding treatment last Saturday and today my husband spent just 15 minutes getting all kinds of hair off one of them. They did a horrible job at de-shedding them. One of our dogs is a hound mix and has a lot of hair, so it takes some time to get it off. That's way we pay the $60 to take him to Petco. I guess we are just better off doing it ourselves and saving our money! read more

Very disappointed in our visit tonight. First we came in for fish for our three tanks. We waited and looked forever for a staff member and had to go to the register to find one. A young lady came to help. She immediately started asking my child questions about our tank. The moment she comes to me she said only "you can't put a goldfish in a 30 gallon tank". I said it's not a regular goldfish can you look at the fish before you tell us no? Mind you she never even walked into the fish area or spoke to me about anything only gathered partial information from my child. She then said better yet I don't think I can sell you fish today and walked away. I'm disappointed in the lack of concern she has for us as customers who have been customers for a long time and enjoy our visits. My children are saddened that the place we go to stock our tanks and buy our pet supplies has handled this situation so poorly. read more

Terrible customer service. Seems every time I come here no one is up front at the registers so you wait forever until someone notices that a line has formed at check out. Today I went in to make a return and the store employee walked by me didn't acknowledge that he saw me waiting, instead walks back to the back of the store. Seriously? It's bad enough you have customers waiting, but to not even acknowledge that you are aware and will get to them soon? A few moments later he returned and started to process my return but never bothered to say a word. That's customer service? Additionally, they don't seem to restock their items very often. There aren't any sizes to choose from in the doggy washable diapers and even the protective cones they sell is limited to 2 sizes available as the other sizes were not restocked. Rather than deal with this every time, I'll continue to take my business to Pet Smart across the street. SMH. read more

So I'm going to go on a rant for a second, so feel free to mute your eyes. So my and I brought Remi our Dalmatian to Petco to get groomed. We bought a muzzle to ensure the safety of the groomer. So we bring him in the room to check in and we're told to take the muzzle off because it is a corporate policy that they can't have it on. Fine it's off, then we tell the lady that going to trim him not to touch his front paws because he doesn't like them touched. What does she do, she grabs his front paws, so he shows her his teeth and she says that she's going to show him he's not the boss there so she keeps grabbing his paws. He starts growling at her so she grabs him by the hair of the back of his neck and says no sir, (HE'S DEAF) mind you, then she grabs his front paws again so you guessed it he bit her. Then we get called from our Vet saying he needs to be quarantined because of the incident because Petco called them. So entertain me here, if someone tells you a pot is hot are you going to stick your damn hand in the pot to show the pot your the boss???? WTF PETCO read more

We brought in our dog to be trained. It seems though that they want an already trained dog to be trained there. Our dog is not aggressive. She is scared but not mean. We brought her into the store for her training session. She barked at people but never lunged or showed her teeth. The trainer told us that they could not train her because she barks. A dog that barks. Who would have thought. Our dog sat there in the store with her tail wagging and was barking. Surprised a trainer could not handle a barking dog. We got our money back and will never trust a pet store to train our dog. We were honestly surprised by this whole situation. read more

I was very upset to find out while at work that my dogs regular groomer was no longer at Petco, Franchesca. I had my sister drop my dog off(because I was working) then she calls me and tells me that my dog was very excited to go until she got inside and it was someone else grooming plus another dog also booked at the same time as my dog-to ONE groomer. I feel, ONE when I went inside to book her 3rd apt-they should of told me that Frenchescal was no longer there, TWO how do you book 2 dogs at 11:00, say they are going to be ready at the same time with only ONE groomer. NOT happy and not sure if I will return after this visit. read more

Our groomer, I believe her name was Jessica, did a GREAT job on our Aussie. She even recommended switching him to a healthier brand of food which has already done wonders for his appetite and coat. Despite him being very very hyper, she got all the mats in his fur out without making him look bald or silly. I don't think i've ever seen him look that sharp no matter who i've taken him to. I wouldn't take my dog to this grooming place due to the employee I dealt with. We have been using Petco for the last few years to groom our 2 dogs but our last visit was the last. I Took our dog there recently for a haircut and when we picked up our dog a groomer with braces I believe her name was Melissa. I have spoken to her before but never had her do either of our dogs. She told me the groomer who we have been using did a terrible job, and that she usually tries touch up the dogs before we arrive but she was too busy. (note our dog looked great even though Melissa insisted it wasn't that great) She then went on to say she can do a better job for us next time and would put a note in the computer that she request to groom our dog in the future. It wasn't very professional and I want to continue to use our usual groomer but this lady just bad mouthed her and I don't want any of them touching my dogs. I would recommend finding a better groomer if you need to get your dog a haircut. read more

Awful and ignorant care of the fish. Witnessed severely emaciated koi in their big tank. You could see the ribs and everything! When I told the worker about it, he was clueless . They order WAY too many bettas and they sit stacked on top of each other( sometimes 3 high) blocking the air hole. Bettas are never rotated so you often pull a dead moldy one from the back and I've come in many times week after week on the same day and one betta is in exactly the same place. Deplorable and inexcusable. Petco in Bowling Green puts them to shame! read more
