I don't want to put my pet's name I don't want to name the employee but the only one thing I would like to say is Joey the manager in the grooming section is the best of the best. I went with my pup yesterday. I paid for the package but for some reason the groomer forgot to do certain things. When I contacted Petco they were nice on phone. They connected me to Joey. He gave me an appointment for today I went there. He was very kind and humble. He saw what I was talking about he realized his employees mistake. He even apologized for his employee's mistake and fix it. What more a good manager can do. I bugged in corporate world for almost 18 years and I see Joey is a good manager. He has all the qualities and capabilities whatever is required for this position and any other bigger positions. I really appreciate whatever Joey did for me today because me and my wife decided to avoid Petco next time. But Joey by helping me today and taking care of my pup. Made us a satisfied customer. I I suggest whenever you go to Ball road Petco. You have any questions or any complaints talk to Joy trust me he'll fix it with a smile. Horrible service from the grooming. I've called for multiple days trying to get an appointment for my dogs and they don't care to answer the phone. I even called the front to ask if they were even open. He then tells me that they have a lot of groomers here and that he'll pass me over to them.... big shocker once again they didn't answer. -Friendly staff. A lot of options for your pet's needs. I used to work for Petco back in the day and it was always fun and interesting. We came in to buy live water plants and ghost shrimp for our aquarium that we just purchased for our young slider turtle. -We found a lot of options for water plants. They had a good deal going so we decided to buy a few. Their prices are a little overpriced so I would suggest looking around other stores before purchasing there. I found some of the same aquarium decorations at Wal-Mart for almost half the price! They didn't have any ghost shrimp but we talked to someone about their next shipment and we will probably be back to get them. -They do offer a rewards program for every 100$ you spend you get 5$ back. The store is located inside a shopping center which means a lot of parking but depending on the day or time it might get busy and finding parking might be a little difficult. -Store was clean and organized. We only looked around in the aquatics section so I'm not sure about the rest of the store. We will definitely go back. read more

I love this store! I've been coming here for about 13 years and I can't believe I haven't written a review yet! They have everything for almost every one of your furry companions. I've been able to buy my dogs food and my 4 cat's food here as well as beta fish food, turtle food, and even food for my little brothers crawfish! They also have a great selection for hamster and guinea pig items too! I know I have a zoo haha It's in a great location, always clean and the majority of the employees are very friendly, especially Brandon! Thank you Brandon for your awesome and kind service. This store has a lot of good deals and they work with rescue groups, which is awesome in my opinion. A store that caters to animals discriminates against senior dogs. When I called back to cancel an appointment for my non senior dog the girl sounded like she wanted to start laughing. Joey Joey Joey! This groomer is the best! My wife & I brought our little dog in for a haircut & he's a very anxious dog; shakes & shivers every time. Joey went above & beyond to make my dog feel comfortable, I've never seen a groomer talk so sweet, he treated my dog like it was his own, & as a dog owner I can't tell you how much relief that brings me cause I always have a lot of guilt taking him. When I picked my pup Jax up it was like the two of them were best friends, my dog NEVER leaves those appointments with a smile & tongue out in happiness, but sure enough out came Joey & Jax like the two just had a blast. I visited this Petco to check out aquarium accessories for my betta fish. The parking lot can get busy. Luckily, there were a number of available spots on Sunday. I used to shop at Petco when I lived in Minnesota. I had a betta fish and a guinea pig back then. The guinea pigs at the store were adorable. It made me think about getting one again. Getting back to aquarium accessories, I found a rock formation. It looks like a donut. The base apparently bubbles, so I will have to see if it truly works. I like the aquarium section. You can even get glow-in-the-dark gravel! The cashier was friendly and cheerful. The store is bright, clean, and well-organized. There were a couple of dogs with their owners. I love it when businesses hire nice people & have good customer service! The people that work here go way above and beyond what their job duties call for. I always feel welcome and know that my dog is in great hands. Jessa hands down is the best with puppies, for training to giving advice on all sorts of things, we trust her with everything. Danielle is awesome we love her!! And Alex is always caring and answers our questions about grooming and puppy nails. The people that leave reviews on this page negatively are the ones that are in the store causing problems and are mad because they have to always be right. Brought our dog in for a bath + grooming and pick 3 package upgrade. Everything at first seemed to be fine. Met with the groomer and showed a picture of how she is supposed to look the first time she got groomed at Petco from another location. She is a Kokoni, so her fur is usually a little long and fluffy. The groomer said said they have notes in their system from the other branch so thought everything would be ok. Few hours later, I go to pick her up and wtf?!....her fur got shaved down to 1/2", parts of her fur are uneven, her butt and belly are shaved down to the skin, and the tail was left alone and looks like a raccoons tail...she doesnt even look like the same dog anymore. Gf and I were furious. Manager of the grooming department apologized and comped the whole package but the bad grooming damage was already done. How do you mess up when you were shown a picture of reference? We will not be coming back and will be going to a professional dog groomer from now on. Lesson learned, their groomers need way more training, and not on clients dogs because that's how our dog looks like now...a botched training attempt. read more

Ever since their remodeling, this store has been looking so much nicer and organized. It makes the place seem more spacious as well! Lately, the staff members have been very personable and most importantly, helpful! This location is my go-to for all my pet supplies. I love bringing my babies Chandler and Charlie with me and they absolutely love it. The employees offer them yummy treats when we come. Another plus is that they have little clean up stations for when the pups have accidents. They have variety of different foods, snacks, leashes, etc.. Also ever since their remodeling, they have a designated room/area for the cute little kitties who need homes. You're able to see them through the glass window and there is a play area for those who want to meet the cats. It's pretty awesome! read more

Ahhh tonight reminded me of why I don't go to corporate chain pet shops.. Got off work late tonight and my normal shop was closed and needed to get crickets for my scorpion and bearded dragon and to check out some collars for my pup. They had crickets in containers, about 20, 30 and $6 bucks for large crickets.. Total rip off. ESPECIALLY when there's only like 5 alive in the actual container. Most of the things in this store are over priced. I think the only thing that is reasonable are their dog collars. When my friend and I got to the line, the cashier had an issue with an override code and needed the manager to come to the front to put it in. That took a good 10, 15 minutes before that happened, and there was only one register open, so the line started growing. Luckily the cashier, Noel, was really cool and chatted with us, and apologized to the lady who was behind me that made it rudely obvious that she was irritated and in a hurry. He ended up smoothing things over really nicely, and another cashier came over to open up a register to take care of the growing line. Overall, I'll only be returning only to exchange a collar I bought my pup. Totally my fault, got one a bit too big! But props to the cashier. He was really cool. Bummer on management taking a while. I have been a loyal customer for a very long time but this is the second time that I asked for assistance but didn't get any. I asked the cashier to call someone to help me in the aquatics and waited 10 mins for nothing. The same cashier who I asked to get an associate to help me went in the aquatics right in front of me, put in the fish to acclimate, turned off the lights, and left without even acknowledging me. So in the end I just left. Im a very patient person but this is not the customer service anyone deserves. read more

I have a 14 month old rescue pup that rescued me! I've tried many groomers over the months and a friend who sometimes dog sits for me found a groomer named Joey G at this Petco. I work nearby but live 15 miles away. Well, my pup loves Joey and so does mom. He's an asset to Petco. All the staff seems great as well. Joey treats my pup like he's his own. His cuts and grooming impeccable and I've paid twice the price elsewhere and never got this care or wonderful experience. Thank you Joey for understanding this pup rescued me! I come here often to shop and I've never seen such disrespect coming from who I believe is a manager. As someone who is in a leadership position I would never yell across the store to an associate while they are helping a guest. I understand this is a pet store but that does not give someone the right to treat others as dogs. The associate helping me was very informative in the animals I was considering for purchase but that leader really upset me and was not a good representative of the store. read more

I once came here for my pet bird to get him some food or the millet that he eats and I found it way cheaper than literally other store. They were in a bundle too so it had way more and less pricey. Petco's animals are very fun to see and fun to watch what they're doing and I love how they have a shelter for cats and dogs inside the store. read more

My review is for the "Groomers" here since i don't buy much for my dog at chain Pet Stores b/c of the mark ups. Would be 5 starts if I ever had my dog fully groomed here, but rather than paying someone to do it...I do it myself. My dog is small with short hair...I can wash her. As far as getting her mani/pedi done....they are terrific!! I've always trimmed my dogs nails until I got this dog. She yanks her paws and makes a big scene when you try so I send her to the pro's. They are so patient with the squirmer and very fast. I've yet to have a complaint about length and I never make an appointment, I simply walk in...drop her off...go pay in the store...come back...and she's done! Be sure you have your pets shots up to date, they require a print out of proof that every animals is vaccinated.....even for just a nail trim. Once you're in the system, you're good to go!! read more

Needed to buy food for my dog, I usually shop at Petco, arrived a couple of minutes (7:58 pm) before closing (8:00 pm) and the doors were closed and locked. When the cashier approached the doors to let customers out I asked if I could come in to buy food for my dog, he said "we're closed." I replied I had been at the closed locked door a couple minutes before 8:00, he kept repeating "we're closed." Seems the employees wanted an early out on a Friday evening and had no empathy for a hungry canine. My advice don't try to enter Petco shortly before closing time. read more

We took the pooch in for his Rabies vaccine, were served quickly by a licensed vet but the paperwork we left with was illegible. The Rabies Tag number is required for licensing so I called the Petco 800 number to have them provide it from their records. The operator asked for the receipt number, phone number, date of the shot, store number, owner's name, pet's name and then told me they have no record (so no Rabies tag #)! Maybe Petco can tell me how to get my dog licensed without the tag number? read more
