I went in today to exchange a bag of food valued at 61.99. I got the wrong formula for my pup, and wanted to do a simple exchange of the same brand bag for the exact same price. When I had bought the wrong formula I placed an order online and was able to stack 2 coupons to buy a bag of food for 43$!. Which I thought was a steal with the SAVE20% coupon, and I had a 10$ rewards saved which I applied to this order as well. I went in and asked for the exchange and they charged me 25$. I asked why if I had used my coupons, and wanted the right formula. There was no price difference. Between the 2 items. The manager, I didn't get her name but I will. So it's been a few years since I've been to this petco and it used to be nice and helpful. When I walked in I was not welcomed and petco looked very disorganized and chaotic. There was no clear entry way. The fish tanks near the glass wall were filled with algae and webs. Some fish and shrimp were dead. No one offered me their help. I asked questions about some of the pets they have there and no one knew anything about the pets that they have. I saw the gerbils were labeled as "chinchillas" and their chameleons had different prices when they're the same species, size. And gender(I read the info). I felt bad for the animals there. And the aisles were difficult to get through with there being so many boxes piled up. read more

Worst customer service, specially Adriana "the manager" she's really rude. Went this morning to pick up an order, at first they couldn't find my order, the lady who was in front called this girl Adriana "the manager" to find the order and actually she did find the order, she even gave me the order. When I just stepped out the store this lady just asked me in a rude way "are you the person who picked up the order" I said yes why, she just told me my order was canceled and she didn't know why, so she just said give me the order because it was canceled, but at this point she was really really rude, while I keep asking her what do I need to do because I got charged for the order, she just keep sayin I don't know I don't know but your order was canceled. I asked her if there was anyone else to ask what can I do since I got charged and the order was canceled, she said in a rude way "Well I'm the manager here" so I asked her for a costumer service phone number and that was the only thing she gave me, after that she just went back inside the store. She really make people feel like they want to steal, like wtf? They were the ones who gave the order, so apparently they don't even make sure about the orders, they don't know the real status of the order, so it wasn't my fault at all. Tbh I don't know how this people get to be manager, they don't know what to do, they are rude, they think they own the store or think people wants to steal. As not only a customer of Petco but also a member of the Vital Care program, I come ALOT; mainly to use my hygiene benefits for my dogs. My dogs see Anthony over in the grooming stations monthly and I really wanted to come on here and point out that I'm so so happy with having a groomer as Anthony. He is polite and takes the time to explain packages or when I don't know something and that is really appreciated considering past experiences. He also takes the time to treat my dogs with care depending on how they act when he approaches them. I'm just very appreciative of workers that are not only working through this pandemic but still show that they care for their customers and for that I'm very very appreciative of that especially when it comes to my dogs. read more

Very unprofessional staff. We had an appointment for grooming at 7am today 4/15/24. We where there 5 min before 7am. The staff member Dolores arrived 5 min late and was very rude and said that she she couldn't do the job because my dog had knots. I told her that I was told yesterday when I scheduled the appointment that they were going to charge me extra if my dog had knots ( which I was fine with). When Dolores arrived she already seemed upset ( maybe because she had to wake up early). I grabbed the business cards and then she asked if I wanted to speak to her manager ( which I never requested) I asked if she taught I should then yes. The manager was also unprofessional did not introduce himself, I had to ask for his name the name he gave me was Williams... I don't know what Dolores told him before he came out because he had an attitude and was upset before even talking to me. I explained again that yesterday when I scheduled the appointment, I was going to get charged extra because she had knots. I would had wish I was told yesterday they couldn't do the job. I scheduled a 3 pm grooming appointment for my dog, and my dog was turned away because according to the staff member, she requires more than 3 hours for bathing and grooming, so what's the whole purpose of having an appointment if these "expertise" won't abide by it. I questioned the person who was attending me about the purpose of an appointment if there was a possibility of my dog not being seen, and her excuse was that when scheduling an appointment you don't have the option to go into detail about the current appearance or what your dog requires. So you would think because the appointment program is faulty the staff members will do their diligence and call before your appointment and ask about your dog's current appearance or ask further questions about the breed of your dog, but that did not happen. It was such a waste of time! I'm not taking my dog to Petco groomers ever. read more

Ive been bringing my Yorky here for years. Dolores was our groomer until she wasn't as available. Today I had an appointment came in just to be greeted with such bs from the manager Laura. Last visit a male did our grooming but mentioned Laura because he had trouble getting her face. He recommended her so I booked with her. Before I could check my dog in she went on to tell me she's diabetic and if my dog scratched her she couldn't finish the cut. Also said she had arthritis, . Like what the fuck! Isn't this your job so unprofessional just excuse after excuse. Why not mention this before I book a month in advance. She goes to say Dolores who with gifted gifts because we had a good relationship with her because of our dog. Over the years complains as well of our dog. I'm in complete shock this is Petco customer Service . Years of money spent 70 bucks and up on the full service just to be treated with gossip and excuses to why I wouldn't receive good service and she would charge me for what she could do. I've had plenty of bad experiences here, the first and most traumatic was when I took my bearded dragon in a few years back and they "helped" by drowning him? The girl then looked at me and was like "oh" umm are you serious??? Today I came in and the girl training dogs walks around like she's promoting her a** and didn't answer my question. The cashier is rude and not helpful either. We asked her a question and she nods. I was happy when I found out they were opening a petco here, driving to South gate is a nightmare and downey was out of the way for me. The staff is friendly, fairly knowledgeable of all products I've asked about (dog foods, cat foods, etc). Grooming department is nice, my dog comes out soft and shiny after a visit there, usually $36 for a basic bath and brush out, for Medium to large sized dogs. Their clearance section is great also, for toys you won't mind ur dog destroying. read more

Only thing I really don't like is how high the prices are. But since they have products that non pet stores don't have, such as pet meds/supplements/harnesses, you kinda have to just pay it. Although this location is a little out of the way for me, I choose to go there because of Laura, my dog's groomer. She originally worked at the Downey/Firestone location but transferred to Bell Gardens when it opened. Laura's been grooming one of my dogs since she was 1 yr old and she'll be 8 this year. And she's been grooming my second dog for almost a year. They both love her. Laura does a great job with the furbabies. She treats them as if they're her own and she does a great job with the grooming. Employees in other areas of the store are very friendly, but it's sometimes hard to find someone to assist when trying to pay for items, which, in my opinion are pretty pricey. read more
