Yesterday I opened my dog food bin and a bunch of insects flew out at me. When I looked inside I saw what appeared to be some sort of "nest" in the dog food. I immediately took the dog food to Petco in Batavia where I purchased it. I asked for the manager, she gave her name as "T", she wasn't wearing a name tag and she wouldn't give me a full name. She took one quick look inside of the dog food bin and said "I know what that is, it's moths". I asked her how she knew this and she said that there had been multiple returns for the same reason. I told this manager that I wanted to get different dog food that was going to be safe for my dogs. We had already been about 1/3 of the way through the bag of dog food and obviously my dogs had been eating larvae. I told her that I did not want to take the dog food bin back home even empty. I had purchased it at Petco and I wanted a replacement. My grandson and I began to look for an alternative dog food. I decided on a bag of Purina pro plan. We put it on our cart, and the manager stated "You're not going to want that". I asked her why and she said "there are maggots on the bag". (I have pictures and video of all of this) She told me there were lots of brands having the same problems, and she suggested that I buy a brand that she uses that had not been returned for bugs. The bag of dog food I originally purchased was almost 50 lbs, and I grabbed three 17lb bags of the dog food that she recommended. She told me that the dog food was more expensive than the one that I originally bought, she said that she could give me credit for the bag that I bought but I would have to pay the remainder. I told her that was not acceptable. She said that she could not give me the dog food for free. I told her I had a problem with this, and she notified another manager that actually came in from outside. This other manager's name was Abby. Abby said that I could not exchange my dog food container for new one, and that with regard to the dog food, if it had not been purchased within 30 days there was nothing they could do to help me. (It had actually been purchased about 2 weeks ago) At this point I walked out of the store. I will not return there. I have canceled all of my Petco reward memberships that are deducted from my bank account each month. I have an appointment with my vet to determine what danger there is to my dogs. When I woke up this morning more of the insects that flew out of the dog food were in my house. Please see all the pictures and video. The brand of dog food that had the bug infestation was Wholehearted made by Petco.

This Place is a great pet-stop in Batavia, it's got an amazing selection of Pet Food- incidently the store brand dog food "Whole Hearted" is the food my Norwegian Elk Hound favors, the employees are extraordinary and attentive and their knoledge is impressive. They treat my pup like family whether or not she's coming in for a bath or grooming (which is top notch) or just stopping by to pick up a new bone or toy. I truly appreciate the attention to detail and care these folks put into everything and highly recommend them for all of your pet needs. Note: when you, adopt a new pup, stop in for a money saving coupon book, it was a awesome value to our Pup.

It was embarassing daily when she barked and lunged at people for no apparent reason. I had my first 2 hour lesson with Jason last night, and the difference I can see in my Teeka already has made me enjoy our walk this evening, instead of me feeling uneasy of her reactions towards people we pass on our walks. I would highly recommend Jason as he was able to assess my dog's unwanted bullying behaviour as "guarding me" in my house and in public. He showed me how to take control at home, and and on our walks. I look forward to our next 3 sessions and a calmer and socially graceful pup.

Jason is the puppy whisperer. It's as simple as that. He understands dogs and dogs understand him…read more My puppy is my first dog and I had no idea what I was doing. My fear of doing the wrong thing was affecting my dog and was making me an ineffective dog owner. Jason corrected my behaviour so that we could correct my puppy's behaviour. She's 6 months old right now and is a very relaxed and well adjusted pup. Nobody ever tells you just how much work having a puppy is and Jason put my mind at ease and gave me the confidence to take her out and not over react to situations because now I KNOW that she will come when called. With Jason's help I learned to enjoy my puppy and everything that comes with being a puppy. I realize that her puppyhood is short lived and I am enjoying every minute of it. Within my first meeting with Jason I learned the basics of what to do and what not to do, what dogs need in order to thrive, (and no, it's not just bones and love) and how to properly communicate with my dog to let her know what I want from her. Trust is key in a relationship with your pet and I wouldn't have learned that without Jason's help. No amount of reading puppy books or talking to other dog owners will give you the in depth knowledge and hands on experience that Jason will provide. If you're doing something wrong, Jason will tell you and understand that this is what's best for your pet. Mango and I both love Jason and would highly recommend him to any old or new pet owners. Thanks Jason, see you at the dog park!

Before adopting Wayne, we already had another dog and a cat so we knew we had a lot of work to do to get them acclimated and keep them all safe. After just the first session, we witnessed many positive improvements with Wayne's behavior which kept us wanting more. Now, after just 3 sessions with Dr. Karlene, Wayne has an A on his report card -at least in our book! In addition to learning commands, he sits and patiently waits for our other dog to eat first before he gets any food. He is much easier to take on walks (no more pulling and growling or barking) and we don't worry about him hurting our other animals. He's a very gentle giant with all of them. We recently added a kitten to our family and he's really sweet with her too, even when she bites his tail and plays with his whiskers. During this process, I learned that training a dog isn't as simple as dropping it off to a trainer to do the work; the family really needs to come together (humans and pets) to learn the techniques and do the work as a team. It doesn't take much time, just consistency and a good behavioralist!

Not to long ago we got a 4 month old Beagle mix and to be honest, I was terrified. I have never…read moreowned a dog before and I didn't want to have one of those terrible dogs that jumped all over people and didn't listen. That is where Karen came in. I made arrangements for classes, before Abby had been with us for a full day. Unfortunately due to some unforeseen circumstances, we couldn't attend the classes as we had originally planned. Instead I talked with Karen and we were able to have her come to our house once a week to help us with training. We are on week 3 now and I have to say I notice a huge difference in Abby's behavior. Karen has taken the time to learn what we want out of our class and to educate us on what she expects from us. Her approach has made me more confident in how I deal with our puppy and also how confident Abby is with me. In 3 weeks(1 purely informational/introduction) we have learned the right way to get Abby's attention(look), sit, lay down and proper greeting of guests. She also answered what seems like a million questions I had about everything from walking on a leash, to house breaking and choosing the right type of food. In addition to classes, Karen also runs puppy playdates, barn hunts and other dog friendly events. I look forward to our remaining 4 weeks with Karen and will probably take more of her advanced classes as our schedule allows and Abby is able. I would recommend Karen to anyone who asks.

See my husband Tim C's review if you'd like our puppy story, I will jump right in to the fun!…read moreTraining with Karen began shortly after bringing Abby to her forever home. Karen, in lack of a formal group for "class" visited our home for weekly training sessions. Abby has been very bright and responsive to her positive reinforcement training with Karen! In addition to our solo time with Karen, we have spent time adventuring to the formal training center for a barn hunt, joined a few friends for a puppy social and are looking forward to the possibility of beginning agility training soon! I must note in addition to her fabulous knowledge and skill set with all of the dogs she has interacted with, Karen did not hesitate to also help us through our first scary moment when the adults were away and the puppy broke in to her latched puppy tub, eating a great deal of food and becoming ill. Karen contacted a vet friend, worked with us and the vet through the process of elimination to determine the best next steps and offered to remain available by phone if Abby's health became even further concerning. Karen has an abundance of knowledge and understands owners and their furry friends will find their niche together, she just wants to provide tools to help make things more comfortable for everyone in the house. I look forward to continuing to work and play with Karen (sounds terrible but I'm going with it!), and will definitely always recommend her to friends, family and Yelpers!
