But today I went to Petco and had a very enthusiastic groomer by the name of Emily groom my dog she did a stupendous job and what added the cherry on top was she was very good with my puppy and believe me she can be a handful. Amazing pet store. Far better than any petsmart, and has very good fish selection. This store has better fish than any store, besides straight out fish company's. They also have a lot of reptiles, Arachnids, hermit crabs, amphibians all for great prices. Very friendly and knowledgable employees. Store was clean and well organized. Loved the wide range of products they had but my only gripe is they had very little freshwater fish in stock and 0 in stock of the kind I wanted to buy. They were sold out of a ton of their fish and the main reason I went there was to buy another fish. read more

The staff running the grooming department are not very pleasant. I've had an issue several months ago where I walked in for my dog to get his nails cut and filed ( which just for this service, you don't need to make an appointment) I've waited and waited for about 20 mins due to the lady ahead of me asking questions and so on. As I was waiting, another customer came in, the groomer completely ignored me and attended the man that came in after me. I addressed it with her and she got all bent out of shape and got someone else . I think I was in the right. I was next in line, and she completely saw me there waiting and just went onto the next person behind me. Ever since I complained about it, every time I call they don't handle my call very professionally. They've told me they'll call me back to set up an appointment for my dog and never do. As a paying customer if something isn't right I have that right to make them aware of it so their customer service skills can get better and nope. They just don't care!!!! Yesterday January 22, 2020 I went to the Petco store 2504 located at 375 E, FL 436, Altamonte Springs 32701. I was looking for a dog stair for my pet, I found at the shelf two grey stairs with the price of $49,99; I went to the cashier to pay the stairs and the person that was processing the transaction ask me to insert my card for the payment, when I was review the amount of the payment I realized that it was for a different amount $79,00. I complained about it and the manager of the store was called to assist me with this inconvenience. The manager's name is Craig, I explained to him that the merchandise that I was buying had a different price as listed on the shelf. The manager was able to verify that on the same shelf it was another stair like the one I got with the price of $49,99. The Manager start complaining that it was moved from side to side, I was perplex with his attitude, there was not any other product with the price. The manager response was that I had the responsibility as a customer to read every tag of any merchandise and compare that the price was the same one. I was really upset with his answer, I felt mistreated. The manager of any store is responsable to make sure that any product is in the correct place with a correct price. I told him about this, his his answer was "this was not one of his responsibilities". I could not believe what he was saying to me, so I asked him to honor the price of the product due to this situation, and he let me know that he was not going to do it. I asked him again that as a manager he could approve the price for the stairs and he specifically told me that he could do it but he did not want to do it. I was so upset and frustrated by being treated like this. I don't know if he treated me like this because I am a Latin woman, but I deserved to be treated as any other customer. I advised him that I was going to put a complaint under his name and he told me to do whatever I wanted to. I work in a company as a customer services representative and I never would treat a customer the way he treated me. My advise for any Latin woman will be to avoid going to that store because they will be really mean and will not treat customers as they have to be treated, with respect and honoring any mistake that the store or company made!!! read more

I've never had a good experience at that Petco. I go in occasionally to see if the reptile area has changed but it never has. No one ever seems to have knowledge on them and they refused to treat one of their enclosures for mites. I let them know that I saw tons of mites crawling around (I wasn't judging. Things happen) and they blew me off like I was an idiot saying they were pinhead crickets, not mites. Uhm...even if they were pinheads...why the Hell do you have hundreds of pinheads in with an iguana?? Awful place. read more

Really shocked yesterday by Petco grooming. Had a 1:30 grooming apt. & my dog was finished just before 9 pm. After an entire day of calls from them that it would just be another hour or so, I went over there ,as I thought my dog may have been hurt or something. They now had a different excuse. It was not that they had taken too many dogs, but the groomer had personal problems with a sick daughter. Since the dog was partially done, supposedly bathed, she couldn't leave. Once again, it was promised that she'd be done in one hour. At 8:25 pm when I went to see the manager he was indifferent, saying that I was not the only one who this happened to & he would pass of my comments to the day manager. A day of complete aggravation ,followed by a fifty dollar bill & indifferent management! Stay away! read more

This petco may look nice but the main store manager here is TERRIBLE. The manager MICHELLE gives no emotion or care when I asked for help, and seems to treat the employees of the store the same. I was completely shocked at how she was treating her employees when I walked up to ask for assistance. I stood there for a second and observed her employees struggle without her lending any kind of help, instead she was on her personal phone showing another manager pictures, I patiently waited till they finished gossiping and I went to her and said that I needed fish. I was told to wait until her 2 overly swamped employees became free. Why she couldn't help me herself? Why couldn't she help out her employees? Whatever it is I am not impressed with this particular manager, I waited 20 min until her employee was able to leave the cash register, all while she was free to help. I also had a return on another occasion and instead of kindly explaining to me that she could not take it back the return she gave me a short ended answer in a rude tone, which angered me because I was not being difficult by any means. She needs to learn manners and how to treat people if she is going to run a store that revolves around CUSTOMER SERVICE. I'm am a very big advocate of managers treating there employees correctly and helping out customers and getting there hand dirty on the floor. I've worked retail for 17 years and that is not how a DM should act. I felt pity for the employees and anger because I was late for work because a manager didn't want to get her hands dirty because her position obviously gave her a big head. I have been to many Petco's but this one is by far my favorite. The sales associates are always either busy at work or helping customers. The thing that makes this store stand out so much from all the others are the sales associates drive to make every customer feel like they are making a great decision on their purchase. The person that did that for me is named Andrew. If he is working when you are there, I strongly suggest asking for him. I was needing help picking out a dog food for my newly adopted dog, Heidi. Heidi is a 5-7 year old Shepard/Lab mix with a front leg abnormality. She also got two terrible hot spots in the first month of adopting her. I went into Petco with enough research to know that grains in the food can sometimes cause the hot spots on the animals and then found Andrew who was helping people on the sales floor on his break. I've worked retail before and I know how much that little break can mean to someone who has been on their feet for hours. I told him that I don't mind waiting for someone that isn't on their break but he insisted on helping me. Andrew then went on listening to all the things I want in a dog food (ingredients to help with joints and grain free). He also asked me how much I would like to spend on the bag of food. He then spent close to 30 minutes walking aisle after aisle telling me what to look for in the different ingredient list. It has been close to a month since I've switched Heidi to Merrick's grain free dog food and she no longer bites or scratches herself. Andrew you are awesome! Thank you for the undivided attention you showed me. I will continue to drive 45 minutes out of my way just to continue to support you and your coworkers. read more

I would never go to petco again, my pet passed away last night, I had just bought a lot of canned food 4 days ago. I did not have the receipt, but explained the circumstance,I also have a petco card so they can look up my purchase, but he would not even do that for me and the manager offered me a store credit. I told him I have no pets anymore what would I do with a store credit, so he said to me well thats all I can do for you, but you could donated the food to us.....................Is he kidding I just bought it from them and he wants it back but he wants to keep my money, What kind of customer service is that read more

I read the one review after I had went to Petco to shop and have my dog groomed and thought ummmm I will just have to see. Now that I have been talking my dog to be groomed for several monthes I will now say....I find the store to be clean and management to be helpful and knowledgable. Ignore Nanci's review on here, she saw the groomer crying because the groomer's daughter had been undergoing surgery and her mother could not be there for her because of work, work being grooming valued customers' dogs. While watching said groomer burst into tears after she had repeatedly apologized, Nanci continued to yell at her and demand her money back, screaming that her situation was not her problem. Insensitive customers like that need to be barred from stores. She did a great job on my dog that same day. I love taking my dog to be groomed here. read more

I've never been as offended in a store as I was by a worker at Petco in Altamonte Springs, FL today. I was headed to the check-out as a Petco female worker named Dusty stopped me to ask what type of dog food I use. She acted horrified and even made a gagging hand signal by sticking her finger in her mouth and making a gagging noise when I told her I feed my dogs Iams. She proceeded to talk to me about Blue Buffalo dog food and the benefits of having grain free food. She said they sell Iams and Science Diet at Petco to make their customers happy but there's a reason that they put it in the far corner hidden in the store. She continued on explaining how great Blue Buffalo is in comparison. I told her I'd just purchased a 40lb bag of food recently but that I would consider Blue Buffalo in the future. She tried to convince me to buy a small bag of Blue Buffalo and mix it with the Iams food but I told her I wasn't ready to buy more food since I'd just purchased a new bag. To this point, she was quite condescending but nothing that I couldn't overlook. However, after I told her I wasn't buying the Blue Buffalo today for the last time, she said "Well, grain in pet foods has been linked to causing cancer in dogs, so GOOD LUCK WITH THAT". I have never been so offended. I take great care of my dogs and treat them like my children. I only buy them dogfood with the first ingredient being a meat because I know that is better for them. This lady was extremely rude and unbelievably condescending. It was apparent that she must've been getting some type of incentive to push the Blue Buffalo food but I have never before witnessed such unprofessionalism. read more

Grooming is always over booked. It says that they take walk-ins. Every time I call they are over booked and you can't even make an appointment without it having to be in at least a week in advance. The staff lies because I've seen them take in a walk in when I had already called and asked if they had openings. They seriously need to change their advertising guidelines or add more staff. Worst service and the girls that answer the phone always have a different story. At least just be honest. If they want to get paid hourly but do less work that needs to be looked into by petco. One day it's we can take walk-ins tomorrow and the next day they refuse you when you get there and make you have an appointment set for a week later. Bottom line is don't advertise walk ins if you NEVER accept them. Also the staff needs to get on the same page on their schedule and availability. This lady Teri could not even get the hours they are open right. She told me they would be closed on Sunday. I will be giving my business elsewhere. read more
