I have tried a couple other Petco locations and most are good but Algonquin is hands down the best for grooming my dog Harlee! Every groomer does a great and detailed job plus are friendly. I will continue to come from Chicago to get Harlee groomed here!! Highly recommend Staci!!!

Groups of dead fish

I brought my son in to look at animals. When we went by one of the fish tanks, there were two groups of dead fish piled up on the bottom of the tank. I told a staff member who went to check it out and talk to someone, and she came back saying that's just how they come in and that someone will remove them from the tank. First of all, it's sad that that's just how they arrive at the store, but then they're just left there?

After the vet stopped the bleeding

I wish I could give their grooming services 0 stars. Not only did they shave my dog down to the bone on his leg but then they shoved Quick-Stop in the wound. Quick-Stop is ONLY supposed to be used on dog's nails when the nail is cut too short and bleeds. It has bacteria in it from dogs' feet and nails. When they shaved my dog's skin off and saw how bad it was, they shoved Quick-stop in the wound to stop the bleeding and hide the severity of the wound. When I got my dog home and the Quick-stop came off, the blood flowed out of the large gash like a waterfall. The vet said that because of the bacteria in the wound, stitches could not be put in until an antibiotic cream sat on the wound overnight. So we did that and the next day my dog was put to sleep so he could get several stitches. This was a two day, $600 ordeal that was incredibly painful for my dog. Shoving Quick-stop into the wound to hide the severity of what they did was gruesome, horrific and outrageous!!!

There's no other place for the best grooming for my dogs than this place. This was initially recommended by a friend, and everything is all fine when it comes to my pet, thanks to all of them. The staff are always friendly and accommodating. I go in here for the grooming of my pet. They always make a pet more beautiful than they were. There are a lot of things that are about how good things are. They are really good at their job, like they are so skilled at handling pets and all of that. They also really care for the pets, not only because it is their job, but I can also feel how good they are with the pets. Every pet that I have seen that has just gotten finished grooming here is so nice. I never heard anything negative from the experience of others while using the product. I am just really thankful to them because they always make everything perfect with regards to the pets. They also accept what kind of groom you want for your pet, which is so nice and they really follow through when there is a request. The cute pets really deserve to be in this good place.

Grooming was terrible. Wanted a little hair cut off of my dog but ended up shaving him to the bone. His skin got very irritated.

I didn't reply because I was working. Voicemail, text & email were vague, asking me to call back. She said she knew it was a holiday & I'd be busy but wanted to talk. On break, I called my spouse & we decided not to contact her further as we didn't feel easy doing so. At 5:15, she replied to my review with details of what happened & things I consider personal information. My work day ends at 6:30 & she expected a reply within 2 hours. I sent the reply to my husband so he & my mom could contact her. I had absolutely nothing nice to say to her. No time in the past has PS told us that Simon is "barrier reactive". We didn't know what it meant until looking it up. My dog does not react to barriers. My kitchen is blocked by a gate. When I cook dinner he just sits by the gate & watches me, not making a sound. Every other time we took Simon we got only good reports about him & how he acted around the other dogs. In the past we were told that they do not feed the large playgroup dogs. My husband asked many times when we took him before & was told no. The 1st call I got from Asher was vague. He didn't say when it happened. He said they took him out of group & put him in his own room. Without a time or being able to see him on the livestream, I made a guess that they waited to call me. How was I supposed to know if messages were vague? Then I'm told he was put in a private room without having to pay for it. I didn't ask for that. Why would I pay for my dog to sit around by himself & do nothing? The point was to have him out to play with others, not be alone. Again, how can you expect a reply in 2 hours after saying you know I'd be busy because it's the day before a holiday? The reply should've said we reached out & would appreciate if you contact us back, not publishing all the info online - exact date of last visit, using barrier reactive to make it sound like he's a problem. Why is it ok to publicly publish that personal info Chelsea? They called about 5:45. They told Chelsea I was still working & I wouldn't have anything nice to say. If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything. We found out that Chelsea wasn't even at LITH 11/27. Instead of waiting for a call back, she decided to reply on Google 2 hours later. Thanks Chelsea, for giving me a reasonable time frame to reply. My husband said she used the typical corporate jargon including only having 24 hours. You still had 21 hours left Chelsea. They expressed to her how upset I was by her putting this out in the open. THE NEXT DAY she copied & pasted her reply to my Yelp. Chelsea, didn't they tell you how upset I was with you putting it out there? To do it AGAIN on a different site is rude. She said she hopes I call her once I've "cooled off". As someone who works customer service & answers phone calls all day, I would have been pulled for professionalism training if I'd said something like that. I also don't "cool off" when my loved ones are accused. Chelsea, I'll die on that hill & you better believe I don't let things go. When Simon got home, his attitude was different. He was anxious and scared. He's usually cuddly & sits on our laps all evening. He slept by himself which is rare. What did your staff do to my dog? He isn't himself. I truly believe my dog was pulled in a way that hurt him & made him upset enough to change his mood. When he was about 4 months old, he got a split nail while at puppy preschool; we didn't think anything of it, we trusted PS. He has bad PTSD from it that I think we were wrong. We have to give him meds to calm him down when he gets his claws trimmed. What did you do to my dog PS? I read recent reviews & saw that PS switched management. My husband said the lobby felt different, less inviting & he didn't recognize the staff. Chelsea told him she worked hard to make LITH better. Did she? It seems worse under her. FYI Chelsea, I would have listened to a 10 minute voicemail.

The young kid who owns this or whatever also lied to me. I asked about a room and what was going on inside because I could see it and he said nothing and it was being cleaned - that was not true and I could see dogs in there and they all looked so sad. He said we could not go in to see dogs because it would rile them up, also bullshit- you just don't want people seeing your shitty/ depressing rooms. Do not take your dog somewhere if you cannot tour the place - duh no brainer, hence why I feel silly I even came back. The last time we picked our dog up he wreaked of pee and had yellow paws and had to potty right away. I should have known better and actually feel bad I let my dog come here. He was never excited to come. They also do not let you come see inside which is super sketchy and the one time I was able to get a look it legit looked like a jail cell and the dogs looked sad. It's also not cool the workers just stay outside and watch. That is not normal and they should he interacting with the dogs , not staring from a window outside. My dog hated coming here and was never excited. We ended up moving to pampered pets and it's been nothing but amazing ! The workers are great, so friendly and constantly interacting with the dogs. They have TVs where you can also see them and a beautiful outdoor space. They even have a pool for swim lessons . Please safe yourself the trouble and your dog the trauma of coming here. My dog visibly gets excited and cannot wait to come to pampered Pets so also a sign I know he is being loved and treated well.

After speaking with several training programs, visiting some, and prayerfully considering what the right choice should be Madi Potts helped make our choice easy. Before we would trust anyone with our little 7.5 lb boy, we had to get a sense of one's heart. My husband and I were not looking for someone who could simply "control dogs" or "make them obey commands". We wanted someone who had a heart for dogs to have better lives with structure, less fear, and longevity due to possibilities that came with what training offered. My first inquiry call with Madi was pretty long, if I recall right. She was patient, understanding of my many questions, and willing to talk as long as I needed to feel she was safe to go to next step with. We started with a 90 min at home training session to see first hand and understand how she would personally be as a trainer with Beans. That training was stressful and also a relief as we believed we found the right person to entrust our boy to. When the day came for him to be picked up, both my husband and I were crying. It wasn't just about trusting a new person to take care of Beans, it was also the resurfaced grief of losing our whippet girl of 11 years just a few months prior. The "what ifs" where overwhelming, but we agreed we were moving forward. Madi also saw our "anguish" if you want to call it that. She quickly said she typically doesn't give an update for the first 24-48 hours but she would update us that evening. To her word, we got a picture of beans at the park and our hearts settled a bit. Throughout the two weeks, Madi was wonderful about keeping us up to date and answering questions as needed or as we annoyed her (lol we might have been a little over the top haha) She never hesitated to share and ensure our boy was learning, and struggling in some areas, but overall doing great. Now that he is back with us, we have already had one of our follow up appointments and are so thankful Madi was who helped us with Beans. He was so happy to see her and made her say goodbye before leaving (even though he was supposed to "stay", lol). Training is still a ongoing work daily, Beans still doesn't love his crate but is accepting he is safe and it's ok to not see us 24/7 (Italian greyhounds are Velcro dogs to the max!) This was an emotional, time, and financial investment that we continue to place priority on. I know many will say do not board and train an Iggy, but for our family, giving him and us the tools to have a successful life together was important. We did our due diligence and don't regret our decision. Actually we are extremely grateful we found Madi and Suburban K9. When she left after our last follow up session she looked at Beans, gave him a scratch and said "I love you". I have no doubt she does, for that I am thankful. It is my hope everyone will find someone as knowledgeable and kind hearted toward an animals as Madi is. Thank you Suburban K9 for helping us learn puppy manners with Madi. We are forever grateful. Usually I train the puppies before I bring them out to her. This time I didn't. I wanted her to have him asap to help w the grief. After several tries of nudging him in the casket, kissing him and booping her nose to his nose to try to wake him up she realized he wasn't this time. After the funeral her behavior changed and she started marking everywhere in the house. Not knowing she was marking and bringing a puppy into the mix, made the situation alot more chaotic. My grandmas also in a wheelchair and depends on others for help. Which made things harder for her to train her puppy. After numerous phone calls, either being told it was nearly impossible to do what I needed help with or it's was gonna cost as much as giving them my first born, I nearly gave up. UNTIL.... Richard came to my rescue! When I talk to Richard for the first time, I got a sense of peace and a chance for hope. Instead of him telling me that this situation was an obstacle beyond imagination, or not possible, he took the challenge. He warned me it might take time, given the circumstances that I was pretty much putting him in and limiting what he could and couldn't do. But, he was willing to try and not charge me my first born. After the first session, we saw results that didn't seem reachable in the beginning. We've been able to break my grandpas dog from marking all over the house and the puppy's on his way to being pee pad trained. We still have more work to do but the progress so far gives the positive reassurance to keep going and not quitting. I highly recommend Richard to anyone and everyone! He's truly one of a kind
