Cheeks loves Dr. Liz!
Taylor M.

I absolutely loved this place. I am fostering a dog and the animal shelter I volunteer for asked me to take her to this vet for her annual shots. Almost Home Foundation recommended the Animal Care Clinic, so I immediately looked up the reviews on Yelp. After seeing the 5 star rating, I was willing to take the extra time to drive to a further vet for quality. They made an appointment for me to see Dr. Liz Orsi and my dog and I adored her. You can tell she truly loves animals. She was very calm and compassionate with Cheeks and gave her lots of kisses and treats. She was extremely thorough in her examination. I am sure once I own my own dog, I will continue to drive the extra distance just to go to this vet!

Second grooming injury

Complete Lack of Competence & Integrity: These people are nothing but desperate penny-pinching hacks. We love our dog to death, are a $200 k/year household, and would pay any amount of money for his care. Do yourselves a favor and don't go here for ANYTHING. We've gone to various vets and groomers for 13 years and have NEVER had worse experiences. First visit they WAY overcharged us for just a few vaccines - and we used to live IN THE CITY (literally paid more for those than we used to for our dog's entire annual vaccine package). Not to mention their grooming service was also exorbitantly priced, but at least that seemed more reasonable given our dog has IVDD and they supposedly specialized in sick/older dogs. Then the last time he was groomed (the very first time they actually worked on his paws, including nail clipping and pad shaving), they cut him. Noticed about a week later that he was incessantly biting and licking his paw, and since he literally ONLY ever walks in our 1.7 acre well-maintained lawn, it wasn't rocket science to figure out that that's what happened. We took him there for a vet appointment, where they confirmed he had a cut on his paw that became infected, and when we asked if the cut was the result of his grooming appointment, were literally told that was impossible because "we'd have noticed it much sooner." Really?? Two people with full-time jobs would've sat around and stared at their dog all day enough to notice if/when he first started licking his paw more than unusual? (Not to mention that when our dog sitter saw him a few weeks later, she IMMEDIATELY said he was nicked with the clippers, without any mention or info from us.) Then comes the veterinary wisdom of the very astute Dr. Nicole, who sent us home with a cone that she said only needed to be worn 2 or 3 days and some anti-itch medication + antibiotics. Any time we took the cone off, he started going after his paw again, so it wasn't till after about a week that we were able to remove it, and a few days after we ran out of medication, he started biting and licking again. We called thinking that SURELY this time they'd take responsibility, esp since the injury was their fault in the first place, so we asked for a free vet follow up, including meds. LOL. The maximum concession we were offered, after going back and forth, was a generous $5 discount off the office visit from the great Dr. Nicole herself! But then my husband had the idea of just asking for a refill on the meds (of course paid by us), which they graciously obliged, and thankfully did the trick. We resolved to never go back for veterinary care, but did still think they were the best option for his grooming needs. Took him in today, specifically said they cut him the last time so they needed to A) be more careful and B) actually NOTIFY us if anything did happen. Sure enough, the minute we got home and I inspected him, I saw this injury on his paw pad. We called, informed them, asked for a discount for the grooming or credit for future service, as well as for any resulting vet care to be free, and after nearly an hour, the BEST the grooming manager offered was a free office visit, if that was necessary. According to Dr. Nicole, aka the autocrat who runs the entire establishment, if we didn't pay for the meds, their office would have to (*gasp- almost sounds like real customer service!*), and that if this was the second time it happened, we were probably better off finding different groomers! So run, don't walk, from these unethical cheapskates who we wouldn't even go to for free.

I didn't reply because I was working. Voicemail, text & email were vague, asking me to call back. She said she knew it was a holiday & I'd be busy but wanted to talk. On break, I called my spouse & we decided not to contact her further as we didn't feel easy doing so. At 5:15, she replied to my review with details of what happened & things I consider personal information. My work day ends at 6:30 & she expected a reply within 2 hours. I sent the reply to my husband so he & my mom could contact her. I had absolutely nothing nice to say to her. No time in the past has PS told us that Simon is "barrier reactive". We didn't know what it meant until looking it up. My dog does not react to barriers. My kitchen is blocked by a gate. When I cook dinner he just sits by the gate & watches me, not making a sound. Every other time we took Simon we got only good reports about him & how he acted around the other dogs. In the past we were told that they do not feed the large playgroup dogs. My husband asked many times when we took him before & was told no. The 1st call I got from Asher was vague. He didn't say when it happened. He said they took him out of group & put him in his own room. Without a time or being able to see him on the livestream, I made a guess that they waited to call me. How was I supposed to know if messages were vague? Then I'm told he was put in a private room without having to pay for it. I didn't ask for that. Why would I pay for my dog to sit around by himself & do nothing? The point was to have him out to play with others, not be alone. Again, how can you expect a reply in 2 hours after saying you know I'd be busy because it's the day before a holiday? The reply should've said we reached out & would appreciate if you contact us back, not publishing all the info online - exact date of last visit, using barrier reactive to make it sound like he's a problem. Why is it ok to publicly publish that personal info Chelsea? They called about 5:45. They told Chelsea I was still working & I wouldn't have anything nice to say. If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything. We found out that Chelsea wasn't even at LITH 11/27. Instead of waiting for a call back, she decided to reply on Google 2 hours later. Thanks Chelsea, for giving me a reasonable time frame to reply. My husband said she used the typical corporate jargon including only having 24 hours. You still had 21 hours left Chelsea. They expressed to her how upset I was by her putting this out in the open. THE NEXT DAY she copied & pasted her reply to my Yelp. Chelsea, didn't they tell you how upset I was with you putting it out there? To do it AGAIN on a different site is rude. She said she hopes I call her once I've "cooled off". As someone who works customer service & answers phone calls all day, I would have been pulled for professionalism training if I'd said something like that. I also don't "cool off" when my loved ones are accused. Chelsea, I'll die on that hill & you better believe I don't let things go. When Simon got home, his attitude was different. He was anxious and scared. He's usually cuddly & sits on our laps all evening. He slept by himself which is rare. What did your staff do to my dog? He isn't himself. I truly believe my dog was pulled in a way that hurt him & made him upset enough to change his mood. When he was about 4 months old, he got a split nail while at puppy preschool; we didn't think anything of it, we trusted PS. He has bad PTSD from it that I think we were wrong. We have to give him meds to calm him down when he gets his claws trimmed. What did you do to my dog PS? I read recent reviews & saw that PS switched management. My husband said the lobby felt different, less inviting & he didn't recognize the staff. Chelsea told him she worked hard to make LITH better. Did she? It seems worse under her. FYI Chelsea, I would have listened to a 10 minute voicemail.

The young kid who owns this or whatever also lied to me. I asked about a room and what was going on inside because I could see it and he said nothing and it was being cleaned - that was not true and I could see dogs in there and they all looked so sad. He said we could not go in to see dogs because it would rile them up, also bullshit- you just don't want people seeing your shitty/ depressing rooms. Do not take your dog somewhere if you cannot tour the place - duh no brainer, hence why I feel silly I even came back. The last time we picked our dog up he wreaked of pee and had yellow paws and had to potty right away. I should have known better and actually feel bad I let my dog come here. He was never excited to come. They also do not let you come see inside which is super sketchy and the one time I was able to get a look it legit looked like a jail cell and the dogs looked sad. It's also not cool the workers just stay outside and watch. That is not normal and they should he interacting with the dogs , not staring from a window outside. My dog hated coming here and was never excited. We ended up moving to pampered pets and it's been nothing but amazing ! The workers are great, so friendly and constantly interacting with the dogs. They have TVs where you can also see them and a beautiful outdoor space. They even have a pool for swim lessons . Please safe yourself the trouble and your dog the trauma of coming here. My dog visibly gets excited and cannot wait to come to pampered Pets so also a sign I know he is being loved and treated well.
