I rescued my dog Wendy from the Human Society a little over a year ago. As a teacher with a very busy schedule, I was worried about her being home all day alone. I initially found a walker, by word of mouth. She was not with a company, very kind, but unreliable. I was never sure what time she came, what happened, or her consistency with Wendy. When the school year ended I decided to move in a different direction. I did extensive research on dog walkers, asked friends, and interviewed candidates. One consistent theme kept coming up... Petahholic. In my online research they were well put together. They followed up quickly on all of my phone calls and e-mails. But above all, they assured me that all of their employees loved dogs. It was the moment of truth; it felt like a first date. Beau, my perspective dog walker, was coming to meet Wendy. I did not have time to straighten up when he promptly rang the bell. Wendy seemed nervous, as my roommate and I were. But when he came into the apartment I felt my apprehension melt away. He was friendly and outgoing. He immediately bent to meet Wendy and asked questions about her habits. We talked about everything from her tepidness in the wind to bathroom habits. He immediately struck me as someone who loves dogs, and showed me dog accessories that he carries in his bag. He even humored me and came with me on her usual walk around the block so I could show him how she always tries to sneak into the CVS and where the flower man scares her. He immediately put my mind at ease and I felt comfortable and confident about his ability, responsibility, and most of all - love for dogs. Since then, and it has only been a few weeks, Beau has been a wonderful addition to Wendy's daily schedule. He is consistent in his time. Every day Beau leaves a note detailing the time that he comes and leaves, the route that he takes, what Wendy does on the walk (bathroom, playing, interactions with other dogs), and then a personalized note (which never judges my status of my apartment ). I sometimes write back to him. This makes me feel like we are in a conversation and I am part of Wendy's daily walk. I am so happy to have someone consistently there to walk, take care of, and give little Wendy a little love! I highly recommend Petaholic to anyone in need of walking. I am the owner of two cats and a frequent business traveler. After my sister who had been my long-standing cat sitter ended up moving too far away to take care of them anymore, I was in desperate need of someone new. An Internet search led me to Petaholics, and I sent in a request. Although my area is not usually served by the company, owner Jordan Kaplan made an exception and offered to take care of my kitties as he happens to live quite close by. After having a trusted family member take care of my cats, I was filled with much trepidation during Jordan's first visit as I am usually on the road for a few weeks at a time. I worried whether they would be properly taken care of, let alone become comfortable with a total stranger. To my great relief, Jordan's first time with the cats went very well. He was constantly in contact with me, not only responding to my emails but sending me his own updates as well. He would even send pictures of both of my cats every now and then, something I didn't expect but greatly appreciated! I have now been using Petaholics for over half a year, and I am a completely satisfied customer. My work schedule changes often, sometimes while I am on the road, and Jordan has been nothing but accommodating in terms of rescheduling dates and not charging when cancellation takes place in advance. I debated long and hard whether it would be responsible of me to get a Golden Retriever given my somewhat unpredictable work schedule and my frequent travel. After doing a lot of research, I came across Petaholics and, having liked what I read, I spoke with Jordan about the business and services. I couldn't be happier with how this has worked out. I have a wonderful dog walker, Elaine, who adores my puppy and whom my puppy adores in turn. I also have a great puppy sitter, Virginia, who has been so accomodating when I've had to travel or when I've suddenly had to add another night to puppy sitting gig because my meetings have spilled over into the next day and I just can't make it home. Between Elaine and Virgina, my puppy, can almost always get an extra evening walk if I end up with late meetings that prevent me getting home at my usual time. All of this great service is made even better by the care and attention they show Holly (the puppy), and the professionalism with which Jordan and his office manager, Christine, run the business. This is an outstanding service for someone who loves dogs, wants to have one, but who is concerned about making sure the dog has a good life whenever the owner is tied up during the day or over night or even over a weekend. These guys are great! I used their dog walking service and received consistently excellent service along the way. Petaholics only provides private/solo dog walks (so no group walks), which ended up working out really well for my dog. He bonded with the walker and seemed very comfortable and happy spending time with him. Even better, I would receive an email from Petaholics each time the dog walker would start and finish a walk. Additionally, the dog walker would leave a paper note in the apartment, including the date, time of the walk, where they went, whether the dog went potty, as well as any stories about what happened during the walk. In addition to the dog walking service itself, I was also very happy with how easy it was to schedule walks, pay bills, etc.. Virtually all communication was done via email, and Petaholics was always very quick to respond. I had to make modifications to the dog walking schedule several times, and I never ran into any issues. Petaholics was wonderful, to put it simply. I had to go out of town on short notice, and I was very concerned about my 11 year old miniature dachshund, as she is my baby, in all aspects of the sentiment. I found Petaholics on the internet and decided to give them a call, as I would much prefer to have at-home pet care than to stick my little princess (who sleeps in bed with me) in a cage under flourescent lighting! Jordan, the owner of the company, came over promptly to meet Cleo and assured me that Cleo would be just fine. he stayed here overnight with her for the duration of my trip, with three walks per day on the agenda. When I returned home, I found Cleo nestled in my bed, watching Animal Planet on the TV, as Jordan had set it up for her that morning. I moved to the city a year and a half ago from connecticut. I have two dogs, and I was concerned about being in the city and finding a trustworthy company. I found petaholics from an internet search and from the first encounter found them to be professional and caring. They looked to meet my needs specifically. We setup a meeting for the dog walker to meet my dogs. They were very professional and treated the dogs with respect. I have had a great experience choosing them to take care of my dogs. They have gone beyond just that experience though. When my dogs were sick they took them to the vet. They have dropped off the dogs at the groomers and picked them up again. Petaholics is very good about overnight needs. Petaholics is very responsive. We did a short commercial for them online because we are so pleased. The key is that they are very professional and responsive. They are really keen on developing a relationship not just with me but with my dogs as well. read more

My cat is my baby, she's very spoiled, and absolutely hates being left alone. She needs an unusual amount of love and attention for a cat. She follows me around, sits on my lap constantly, plays fetch, etc. So I was very worried about leaving for two whole weeks. But Jill, the girl that Petaholics sent over, was AMAZING. I've never seen my cat so happy and playful when I return. She usually needs to sulk for a while before forgiving me ;) It was clear that she had been very well fed and cared for. My apartment was still super clean, I couldn't smell the litter at all. Jill even bought her some food when it ran out on the last day!! All my instructions were followed to the letter. It's not terribly cheap but you get what you pay for. I couldn't be happier. My only caveat is that they do assign a person to you, and I would think that a lot depends on the person that you get. When you need to leave town but have a dog, a fair amount of stress begins to set in. Unless you have roommates or very accommodating friends, you feel damned to never leave the city again. Luckily, trustworthy places like this exist. I was really nervous about boarding my dog having not done it before. When my dog needed a place to stay, though, I was happy to find that this facility is clean, the staff seem understanding and really care about your dog and his or her needs - I was able to bring her toys and blanket, which left her with familiar smells, making the stay less stressful for her. When I returned from my trip to pick her up, my dog was seriously smiling. I could not bring myself to ever board her in a kennel, and I was deeply satisfied that I made the right choice bringing her here. To top it off, the price is really very reasonable. read more

Petaholics provides a great at-home service. Its great that a company is so dedicated to pet owners. Reserving my puppys' appointment was as easy as 1 2 3. I first called for information, and Jordan was very helpful over the phone. He answered all the questions i had and even gave me suggestions on training my dog further with commands and such. Right now we just focus on walking down NYC streets and making it back safely...maybe i should get a walker :p I signed up for the Puppy pilot program . I received the half hour treatment for my dog which allowed him to be walked and re-fed while i was gone. I have used this service twice and my dog seemed happy after the walk, i.e. not abused. The people at petaholics were polite and helpfu, and i recommend them to all pet owners. read more

On Memorial Day weekend, my usual cat-sitter baled out on me at the last minute. A colleague recommended Petaholics, so I contacted them, not sure that someone could be found on such short notice. They were incredibly accommodating, quickly found me a sitter, and everything was easily arranged from there. They are wonderful at communicating, asking me about my cat--they actually wanted to make sure my cat's personality, likes, and dislikes were taken into consideration! I was completely amazed at their level of personalized care. The sitter, Brittany, was WONDERFUL. She sent me text updates with pictures, and I knew I didn't have to worry about a thing. We have been using Petaholics' dog walking services for a few months. My dog absolutely loves Virginia, his dog walker. The two have formed a great bond. She leaves us detailed progress notes everyday and has been so extremely understanding about how we want our dog to be handled. Virginia also stayed overnight in our apartment with our dog for a weekend. Although we were nervous about leaving our dog alone for the first time, we knew that he was in great hands with Virginia. She gave us daily updates on what was happening and when we returned, it was like no one had been in our apartment. Overall, we would definitely recommend Petaholics' services. I've used the Petaholics dogwalking service twice while my family and I were on vacation and a friend was taking care of our dog, Lucho. I cannot say enough good things about Petaholics - we have used many dogwalking services in the past 10 years (probably more than a dozen, in both DC and NYC) and I would highly recommend them based on my experience with other companies. The dogwalkers arrived on time, took Lucho out for the amount of time promised, and overall, were reliable and dependable while we were away. Keeping me informed and up-to-date with email reminders about upcoming holidays, key-services or fees, makes me more relaxed about in my communication with them because I know in advance what to expect. This professionalism gives me confidence as opposed to other companies or individual walkers who tell me about fees or schedule changes "after the fact." This place is great! They're great for helping out with people who have long work days and feel guilty about leaving their pets at home. They have awesome customized care plans and are really affordable. I always feel comfortable leaving my dog in their trustworthy hands for dog walking, dog sitting, or grooming. Their dog-walking program is great - it's a one on one dog walk so I know that the dog walker is paying complete attention to my dog and it's the same walker every day so my dog can have a good relationship with the dog walker. Also, I get notes from the dog walk so I know that my dog was actually walked and the walker is paying attention to my dog. We have used Petaholics numerous times to feed our cat when we are away over the past couple of years. Setting up appointments has always been easy via web and phone. We live in an UES doorman building. All the pet specialists have been on time and performed the duties as assigned. Depending on the length of time you book for each day- they feed, scoop litter, play and provide company to our cat. We have had Mara as a steady sitter recently from Petaholics and she is wonderful.! She sends texts when she arrives and leaves and even sent a pic of our cat playing. The cat normally hides from everyone so it was nice to see her feel so comfortable with Mara. Our experience has been nothing but positive. Would definitely recommend. read more

We have been using Petaholics since about 2012 with Karen Tavares as our dog walker. When we moved to another area in Harlem she came highly recommended by other clients within our building. She is absolutely wonderful with our Marley and he loves her. He gets excited every time she comes to walk him and she is very patient with him as he can be very stubborn and doesn't like the rain. She leaves reports so we know what he did each day and at what time. She is very personable and professional and it is obvious she loves her job. I was very nervous about leaving my recently-adopted 6-month old kittens while I went on vacation. Jordan put me at ease the first time I met him. He was very professional, clearly very good with animals and my kittens liked him right away. Jordan took great care of my kittens while I was gone. When I first left for my trip, Jordan even contacted me to let me know that the kittens were doing well. More importantly, they were clearly well fed and happy when I returned from my trip. Jordan also came by on a different occassion when I got stuck at work for days in a row until 3 or 4 in the morning. In looking forward for a vacation I also had the worry of finding someone to watch my cat. After much research I gave Petaholics a whirl. To my surprise, I was pleasantly surprised and should not have woried at all! I had a great sitter who provided daily updates about her visit. I recently moved my six month old puppy from California to the City. I did my research and went with Petaholics to help in her transition. They have been great! She is adjusting well and we have named Virginia, her walker the Super Puppy Nanny. She is part of the puppy program and learning to walk in the city and so much more.
