Some weeks before someone recommended Walkerville Vet if I ever needed one. It was 12.15 on a Saturday. I phoned they close at 1pm and were booked. Told them about George's eye and was told to bring him in. Saw Claire, she was wonderful explained he would need surgery, gave medication to make him comfortable. Claire put us at ease. So pleased that the Walkerville Vet was recommended. Their prices are very reasonable too.

The responsibilities of the owner are as crucial as the responsibilities of the parent; if you consider the bond and the unshakable link that develops between the animal and the owner, you must respect and reciprocate the same bond. A dog will do anything to defend its owner, as will a cat under certain circumstances. You would not take your child to any old doctor or a different doctor every time it was ill would you? Once you had found a health provider that was really good with your charge, you'd return eh? As opposed to some vet clinics I've been to, every vet we've seen here with our 2 dogs has had a wonderful "bedside manner". By this I mean they don't try to get you in and out, but take the time to get to know you and your 4 legged friend. They offer professional advice and specific diet options. The puppy pre school class is well run with the lady running it having a nice disposition and a good understanding of puppy behaviour. I've seen some of these classes run by people who have no place working in a vet clinic. Thankfully that's not the case here. They also have a good range of food stocked, so if you're running low and need some specific food NOW then you'll probably find it here.

I got accused of not listening to advice about my kitten's care after being desexed. This was as I…read morewas leaving the vet after having another kitten desexed months later. The senior vet nurse started on me about not staying for the other kitten's post op debrief. In actual fact, I did. I was given a cone for her rather than a body suit. She was not getting on with the cheap plastic cone so I had to get another body suit from a different vet. I bought 3. The kitten pulled the first 2 off over night. She got an infection. The vet stapled up the wound a few days after surgery without pain killer or local anaesthetic. I was not advised of or asked if I wanted this treatment. After the vet nurse's tirade, I emailed her to find out what it was about. I got informed in writing that I had ignored and defied medical advice. When I recently sent a posted letter, I was sent a brief email saying I was not welcome at the surgery any more. I was not returning there anyway, as completely false accusations were made against me about my care. That irked me. A lot. I am a cat rescuer and so I do not take these falsehoods lightly. My complaint was totally ignored and I was made the villain. Nothing was investigated as far as I can tell. Sweep the problem under the carpet. People need to know that this vet clinic is making notes based on assumptions about the pet owner and then making unfounded accusations. My 6 cats are totally well cared for and very well loved. No harm would ever come to them by my hand. No fur baby of mine will ever go there again and I beseech people to take reviews seriously and choose a different vet. This one is very rude and it goes beyond that.

8 minutes ago NEW…read more 8 minutes ago NEW Do not go to this vet wish they had zero stars! They have completely botched my staffies simple lump removal! They cut way too much out and it was not needed as the lump was not cancerous, they cut the wrong way also then ran into trouble sewing her up! They used glue and 3 dissolvable stitches which is not the best. My staffies head is left looking worse than before! This was not what we discussed prior. They didn't even send her home with proper medication. Went and seen an owner there this morning, they made sure the vet who did the op wasn't there, the owner we seen was aggressive and didn't want a bar of what we were saying of course insists theu did it the correct way! A much older more experienced vet has confirmed what we already knew to be true. Will never any of my pets here again! Zero stars. Photos are before and after op..

We have also found their opening times convenient, their staff caring and flexible, the vets helpful and calm with our crazy cat. We also really appreciate the extras like a welcome card, a photo taken of our lovely cat, laminated vaccination cards, and a few other extras. Highly recommend them as a vet!
