Money grubbers!! If…read moreI could give this place minus stars I would. If you care about the life of your pet, please send them for emergency care elsewhere. The priority for this clinic lies in the bill not in the genuine care of your pet. In saying that, some of these 5 star reviews that I have read do not seem genuine. I only went to this clinic because it was a public holiday and there was no other closer clinic on Google maps. As it was an emergency, I had no time to choose the best emergency vet for my cat. I have now done my research and found a better emergency vet, I suggest you do the same. The following is only some of what I experienced. My cat was found paralysed one morning, rushed him to this emergency vet to get some treatment. The vet kept failing to provide important information. They didn't ask for a blood test, I got advice from my vet friend who lives interstate to ask for it. I had to contact her to ask the vet for questions and further direction because there was barely any explanation provided about the process and state of my cat. He was given 2 vials of anti-venom and remained at the practice. I went back to visit my cat, who was in intensive care that night, and left the premises with no requirement of a consult as I was just visiting to see him in person. The vet was so adamant on that additional $300 consult fee that they rang me later at midnight to "subtly" provide it over the phone and then proceeded to charge me that $300 consult fee. The next day, we needed to make a decision regarding the life of our cat, the vet left us in the consult room and didn't check in for hours and then tried to charge us for the period of time that we were sitting and waiting for her to return to finally end the consultation. Meanwhile she was attending to other patients in the background. The vet said we had options for the next step of the process and proceeded to push for the most expensive option, i.e. keeping the cat on oxygen for $3000 per 12hrs, with a recommendation of 3-5days. We were told we were being cruel and inhumane for not being able to afford the estimate they gave us and instead requesting to take our cat home to rest in a familiar environment. Obviously we know our cat best and know he would benefit from feeling safe and calm surrounded by familiar faces at home. When I mentioned I could not afford the fees, they pushed for euthanasia for an extra $230-500 as this was "doing him a favour and letting him die pain free" FYI my cat has pulled through and recovered at home. He has had no struggles with breathing despite being told that he was completely relying on the oxygen tank and going without would choke to death. After receiving our bill and questioning the additional random items in the receipt which were not consistent with the standard of service we received, we finally compromised and signed a form agreeing on the final set price. The receptionist charged us extra $100 and scoffed when we called her out on it and asked her to confirm our agreement with the vet. They ended up fixing it because we were adamant that we had signed an agreed amount. These guys were lacking so much empathy and were just recommending the pricier options every step of the way. The attitude and disrespect we received when we just didn't flat out agree on random items in the bill was atrocious. Instead of explaining the after-care instructions and showing me how to clear the cat's throat and bladder, I was given a set of vague instructions that were typed up with terrible spelling mistakes. When I asked for clarification on one of the instructions the vet let out a massive sigh and seemed annoyed that she was having to explain it further. I was sent home without any medication, eyedrops or fluid after care items to help support my cat's recovery at home. If the vets really did care about my pet they would have at the very least equipped me with the right materials to assist his recovery at home. My usual vet was open after the public holiday, I took my cat there and was provided better care instructions and materials. Total bill $7000 and I was there for a total of 1.5days.
