Horrible animal care standards. Cages are tiny. Some of the animals have been in there for months. Care guides are full of misinformation, and not always present. Lots of dead, dying, and sick fish. Some of the products are either useless or dangerous(1gal tank marketed for fish?! for example) I'm assuming that like most pet stores they get their ferrets from Marshalls, a company with no moral standards and a history of factory breeding. Im not sure about the other animals. If I were in charge of the animals ethics laws the people who designed this place as well as some of the employees would be in jail. The marketing contrasted with the reality makes me sick. Adopt don't shop. And please do reliable research! read more

I was a witness of an absolute verbal abuse. I can't sit here and let that go. I am in disbelief, the way the manager spoke to the young girl. The young girl definitely was not in the wrong. If this is the type of people you guys hire, I am no longer interested in this service. I am afraid to bring my pet here if this is how you guys are treating customers and animals. This store is a joke. Placed an order online last night. I received a message they received the order and orders are usually ready an hour after received. I called around noon today to see if they had an estimate on when it would be ready. The woman who answered apologized that the order wasn't ready, but said the staff were just about to pack it right then. She made the order their priority and said it should take them 10-15 minutes to put together. About two hours later I received an email that my order was ready for pick up. I drove over, called when I arrived for the pickup, and spoke with a gentleman who took my info and said he'd be out with the order in a few minutes. When he comes out, he says my order hasn't been packed yet. I was confused and frustrated as I received an email confirming it was done (and also was told it was being worked on two hours ago.) The man replied that he didn't know what the staff had been doing, but it's not done, and not his fault!?! He said someone could package it but didn't know how long it would take. Or I could come in and shop for what I wanted. I was on my way to pick up my kid from school and couldn't wait too long, especially if they can't tell me when it would be done. I canceled the order and won't use them again. I understand mistakes happen. But being told order was being worked on hours ago, and receiving a message it was ready to be picked up-neither of which were true, is a big inconvenience and a waste of time. I don't understand what happened. And all the the staff can say is "I don't know what happened, it's not my fault" is unacceptable. Great job showing how little you value your customers. read more

Love this store! Colleen and Brittany go out of their way to help me every week. I come here to shop on behalf of a food pantry so I buy a large quantity of wet and dry dog and cat food every time I come. They help me get the best deals to make our limited budget stretch far (our clients love the PSP store brand, which is the best pricing!) Colleen helps me fill my cart, Brittany organizes everything for me at the counter and they both help me load my cart back up, and then Colleen always helps fill my car. They always remind me to put in my phone number and earn rewards - and those add up!! The store is always clean and organized and easy to navigate. I always have a great experience shopping here on the weekends, when other stores are usually so busy and the staff can't make time for anyone. I just have to give a shout out to Pet Supplies Plus in Quincy, Massachusetts. They're running very low on canned cat food stock, which of course isn't the store's fault. I placed two online orders yesterday for delivery. Both times they were out of a lot of what I wanted. I missed their phone call last night, and then they were closed. I was just about out of cat food and as I'm disabled, I really depend on delivery. After my phone call this morning, the staff worked their magic and got my order out to us as quick as could be. While I've always had a pleasant experience, today was an exceptional visit. I brought my 17 y.o. Havapoo for a self-serve bath. I was fortunate to meet Alana, and we chatted for a bit. Not only did she help set us up, but graciously offered to help me trim a bit around Moxie's eyes. Not so easy at first, but after post bath happily wandering around the store and going outside, we tried again. There is no question Alana genuinely cared about helping me see the little guy's eyes, and especially Moxie. She was so patient and gentle with him, and he even got his puppy ears again. First visited this pet store in 2013. I got a cat in October '13, and we needed to prepare for her arrival. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted and asked if I needed help and I asked about where all the cat supplies and food were. I was pleased to see all things that were on sale for anything cat related, and ended up buying quite a bit of stuff...ranging from her kitty carrier to cute toys and food. When checking out, we were offered a discount card to use whenever we shop. The prices were pretty good, compared to Pet Smart and Petco. I don't have a car either, and I'm glad they are close by (walking distance) so I can get goodies for my cat baby :) read more

The only reason I am giving this location 2 stars vs 1 star is due to the fact it has always been clean when I shopped here. As for the customer service... it is lacking to put it politely. Unfourtantly, every time I have returned to hopefully have a better experience. I leave saying "why did I go back" As a GM of retail and in the industry for years. You naturally shop with expectations that the customer service is nothing short of amazing, welcoming, and a knowledgeable team. That is not the case here. On evening I went in and asked for 15 small crickets for my bearded dragon. The female associate who was on. Said sure!! She comes back with a bag of at least 30-40 crickets. And states "I might have gave you a couple extras... I just can't with those things.. I don't get paid enough here" I was so taken back, because while I have zero interest in being a caregiver and cuddling with crickets either. This is an employee who not only signed up for this job but is being paid to do this job. Unfourtantly, this is not my first encounter with her at this location. Ultimately, any employee should respectively acknowledge a customers requests and declines. While providing tips and facts as to why another product may be better. Not arguing with the customer and making remarks when you don't buy what she suggested. We have done this before, and it lead to my dog being sick. I hope that this review is looked at as an opportunity to train and coach those who sell the product in your 4 walls! read more

Pet Supplies Plus is my favorite pet supply chain because of the decent prices, friendly staff, and decent selection. Ever since the first time I shopped there, none of the other locations have been as great, including this one. If you want a more upscale shopping experience take a hike down to the Pet Supplies Plus location in Brockton, but otherwise get your great deals here. Occasionally, regular Pedigree dog food is cheaper at the grocery store, but for everything else in the store, it's cheaper. And this place is decades cheaper than Petco or Petsmart, which are fine for convenience, but in Quincy, this is the most convenient. Staff are very friendly, and actually approach customers to be of assistance. While the store may be older (they opened in 1995), it's stocked completely and has been kept astoundingly clean, especially due to the fact that pets are welcome to the establishment. This location has a little bit less than other pet stores, but it has the basics, and a fun fish area. 4 stars for Pet Supplies Plus. Love getting great deals and great products here. I've been here about 3-4 times now and every time I come home I end up raving about my experience with something like buying dog food (I don't usually come home raving about that). Every time I go in I am greeted and once in the aisles someone always seeks me out to ask if I need help. They are also very knowledgeable. I've gotten great tips on what the best grooming brush for my pug would be (she also recommended a cheap one which I appreciated) and harnesses/ leashes, etc.Also walking around the store it's apparent that it is well staffed and every employee i walk by always asks if I need help. I don't find this is at a lot of places. Prices seem to be about average. Bottom line: can't say enough good things about this place. If you have questions on a purchase you plan on making, I recommend coming here. read more

I actually really like Pet Supplies Plus. I think everything is very well priced, compared to Petco and even Pet Smart who are ridiculously overpriced. If you sign up for the PSP card you get coupons too. They have a really good selection of all natural dog food, cat food, rabbit food, treats and pet supplies (leashes, first aid, etc). They also have some small animals and fish. The store may not be as attractive as the others and the employees are not as well educated or pet-savvy because a lot of them seem to be just getting out of high school and this is probably their first job but if you know what you need and don't need any advice then this is the best place to go in my opinion. Went shopping for my neighbor who asked me to go here to get all the specialty food for her kitties that I couldn't find in the pet aisles of her regular grocery store. Must say - pretty big and options I never knew existed. The entrance has the checkout section with 2 counters. The staff was very polite and asked me to give them a shout if I needed any help. At the left section of the store is where you can find a small little world of pets on sale. Birds, fishes, tarantulas, and many more... Good for animal lovers! The place was super neat and everything seemed to be in it's right place. Makes such a difference for customers who I could see were enjoying the shopping experience. Something that is not a common sight. I had a list of diet food that my neighbor wanted for her cats. And some other specialty food. They had so many of the items on sale. It was quite easy for me to find the specific brands and stack them up in the cart. At the checkout, the very kind girl was very nice. She made sure I found everything I was looking for. And given the extensive amount of products that i got, she also gave discount coupons for future purchase. I was very impressed with the great customer service. Finally, the place has a huge private parking lot that it shares with a good will store that's next to it. It was a luxury to drive in and be parked right in front of the store - something that doesn't happen that often. Simpler joys of life! read more

I don't get in here much because it's not in a reasonable driving distance but I stop in if I am in the area. It's also on a busy road. So getting in or out can be a challenge. It has a great selection for pet food. I have cats and I like that they carry more natural brands (along with the cheaper junk). I find their prices are comparable to bigger chains. Beware though, natural doesn't always mean better..., read the ingredients! They do offer frozen raw, some packages/types say for dogs only but some are for both cats and dogs. It's expensive but I do give it to my cats on occasion. This used to be one of the few bigger places that carried it but Petco carries the same frozen brand as well as refrigerated types. They have supplies for pets beyond food as well but can't say if they are a good deal or not. I find pet beds are expensive everywhere, including here! I have some beds I got at CVS for 10 bux that my cats have liked and used for years. But I would like to replace them now and have been looking. Overall, a clean store with lots of selection. Don't know much about the employees. I didn't really interact much with them. But no one greeted me upon entering or asked if I needed assistance. I don't mind being left alone though! read more
