I just had to make another review to show my love for the people at PetStop. They make my Lucie girl feel special and pampered. They do everything in their power to love her like their own dog. I seriously cannot be more thankful for the care they give Lucie. I have taken my other dog who is awfully shy and he did just wonderful! They loved him just as much! They never stop talking about how much they love Lucie and how they wish that I would have brought her sooner because they just enjoy her presence and personality so much. They give her all the care and love necessary to groom an older dog who has a few health conditions that other groomers wouldn't work with. The PetStop didn't bat an eye and took her on with such skill and care that I knew we would be set for life with a groomer. Seriously my heart goes out to you guys for taking care of my girl in the end of her life. All the troubled areas on a long hair dog they take care of no problem. They work to keep her hot spot areas clean and trimmed nicely. They clean her bottom up very well because she has constant urinary issues so it's hard to stay on top of that as well as the smelly drool she experiences from Lupus. I am the proud owner of what may very well be the worst cat ever. She excels at two things, 1) being up in my face/lap, and 2) shedding. It got to the point that sitting next to her was like being inside a snow globe...full of cat hair. WHITE CAT HAIR. The kind that gets everywhere and is hidden against nothing. How my cat can shed so much and still be covered in long white fur, I do not know. She sheds so much that if my Dyson vacuum used a pillow, it would weep tears into it every night bc nothing can keep up with that much fur. My life was going places--going places covered in cat hair. Then, I found the Pet Stop, and all that changed. Now I look better (I actually do, I'm only mostly covered in cat hair now), I feel better (also true. Ever get cat hair under a contact lens?) and my friends say I'm much more fun to hang out with (also true, since I am no longer late to everything on account of my having to lint roll everything) The Pet Stop is in Castle Shannon on Rte 88. I called and asked if they would be able to groom the worst cat ever who is really sweet but a pain in the ass. Without missing a beat, the woman laughed and said yes, they could handle my cat. Did I mention my sweet ball of fur turns into a sabre tooth tiger at the sight of a cat brush? Yeah, thats the third thing she excels at. I brought her in, and the groomer was very very very nice with her and took time to ask me what I wanted done with her. Me: "I dont know, shave her ass! Just fix the fur, I do not care!" Instead, she laughed and told me she was going to bathe my cat and brush her out. I wanted to ask her what her drink of choice was bc I was pretty sure the groomer was going to need a drink--and possibly a blood transfusion--after bathing my cat. I wished her luck and went home to lint roll my clothes and do some vacuuming. They called me a few hours later and told me that 1) my cat was clean and ready, and 2) she was well behaved. I immediately asked if they had to tranquilize the cat and they said "No, we never do that...." So then I was pretty sure they weren't talking about my cat. I swear my cat was 3 shades whiter and 25% thinner when they returned her. She looked fantastic! She also looked miserable as hell but this was to be expected bc she'd just loved her nightmare and also who cares--she looked FANTASTIC. Here is the best part: The last time I had my cat groomed, it was $75 plus I had to pay a "Cat Behavior Fee." She was so bad I had to pay extra. IT WAS $35!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can't go around kissing people you don't know, but I wanted to kiss the groomer, I was so excited! I cannot more highly recommend this place! They do GREAT WORK, are friendly, and affordable! I guess it is the nature of the business they are in but to call them defensive is an understatement. Ask a question and they jump on you with defensive. We used to go here, until one of our dogs was hurt and they took no responsibility. The groomer that hurt her was June. The reason I am posting this today, after all this time, is because June was fired this week from Nemacolin Wooflands for abusing a dog. Caught on video by a client, reported to the owner, who took immediate action to fire her. The owner of Pet Stop only appreciates happy clients. Those that complain she immediately gets defensive, denies responsibility, and from other posts, gets down right nasty. My dog is terrified now to be groomed, and I guess now I know why. VI will be calling my current groomer to ensure June doesn't get hired there either. read more

There are few places that will groom long haired cats but the Pet Stop does a fantastic job. They are all very friendly and accommodating every time I call. My cat is pretty easy going (surprisingly) but they always do exactly what I want and have her groomed perfectly for summer. Their prices are great and they all care for your pet like it's their own. The staff up front and the groomers were wonderful. But upon arriving home, the dog had obviously not been completely bathed, ears were dirty, he was shedding everywhere. And this was after a full groom. One of his nails was cut so short they were unable to shave it down, so it was easily caught while he was walking and cracked in half. He was bleeding for over 20 minutes and had to be tended to at a vet. But the reason for this review is the interaction my wife and I had with the owner, who hung up on both of us multiple times while trying to figuring what to do. She lied about my wife "screaming at that staff" while on the phone, which was not true because I was standing beside her while she was taking. She refused to refund and only talked about her "2500 loyal customers" and how she has never received a complaint. Please do yourself and your animal a favor and never go to this poorly run establishment. read more

I took my very long-haired cat to the Pet Stop after reading Kristen H.'s review. I was able to get a Saturday appointment within 2 days, which was impressive. They did a fine job trimming her nails, brushing her, and bathing her, but my cat did not look much different in terms of manginess after I took her. She has looked much more professionally groomed after taking her to other groomers. Still, for the price ($32, and they say cats cost between $20-$35) and the ease of making an appointment, I'd go back. read more

Before owning a dog that needed grooming, I just assumed you washed your dog in the tub and went on your way- dogs don't need that frou-frou stuff. Little did I know, but dogs need cuts, nail clippings, and sometimes some gnarly cleaning in the no-no parts. There are certain things I just don't want to do. I have been bringing my dogs to the Pet Stop for several years, and they have always treated us well. They take very good care of my dogs, who are always happy when I pick them up. The Pet Stop has full service from cuts, washes, nail clipping, and lots more, and they are very accommodating on specific types of cuts. Plus, they always give my dogs a cute bandanna around their neck that matches the season. I want someone to take care of my dogs like I do, and I get that with the ladies at The Pet Stop- and they're pretty reasonable on price and timing. read more

This place is inconsistent. The first time I thought they were amazing, super friendly and very thorough with my longhaired CAT. However, this last time was the exact opposite. As soon I as I walked in I had a bad feeling. They were rushing, barely greeted me or talked to me about what I wanted done to my cat, and basically just grabbed his carrier and said we'll call 30 minutes before you can pick him up. It was chaotic, like they overbooked and just wanted to check the next pet off their list for the day. When I picked my cat up he seemed happy and smelled clean. I didn't realize until we got home that he still had knots all on his belly. It was as though they just gave him a bath. Last time they got every single knot out. Now I have to take him back... not even three weeks later to have them shaved out. I'm extremely upset. read more

Just took my cat here to get his nails trimmed, I was worried (only because hes a diva) but they did great, he was comfortable with the staff and they were very quick while still doing an amazing job. Sue is amazing. My springer spaniel, who I should take to be groomed far more frequently than I do, always comes home with the nicest trim and smelling so good! He's timid and scared of strangers and Sue is so good and patient with him. I never worry about leaving him there, they take great care of him while he's with them. My dog is what we here in Pittsburgh like to call a Heinz 57 variety dog. In other words, he's a mutt. A mutt with a lot of fur. So much fur that sometimes I get stopped by random people condemning me for feeding my dog so much food, because he looks obese. True story. I used to take him to PetCo. It would take the entire morning, or afternoon, and they would charge a lot of money. Like, close to a hundred bucks. Which I'd rather spend on a massage. It's forty-five bucks to get your dog washed and groomed at The Pet Stop. You'd better tip more than 20%, though, because these kind ladies deserve it. Not only did they fawn over my furry little mutt, but they didn't even mind that I was a little late, due to getting lost in rush hour traffic. Best of all, my dog usually gets freaked out by all the commotion of the groomers at PetCo. Not the case anymore! He waltzed in, unfazed. Came out looking great, smelling great, and most of all, happy. An excellent experience, all around. read more

We have taken our cat to this place before. In the past, they did a fair job, fair price. This time, I took my Mom's long-haired cat in for a brushing and bath. I was told it would be "extra" as he hadn't been there in awhile (6 or so months). I agreed. They were to call me when he was done. Not even 10 minutes passed and I got a call from a rude woman, basically yelling into the phone "We can't brush this cat...we're going to have to shave IT to the skin - or else - come and get IT". I was appalled, he wasn't THAT bad. Keep in mind, this is in the dead of winter. I said I would ask Mom (she's in her late 80s what she wanted to do, as he was not my cat. She said "NO, can't they cut his hair to about 1 or 2 inches?". I totally agreed with her and called them back to tell them this. They told me they would ONLY shave him to the skin, nothing else. My belief is that they didn't want to do the work involved. Also, they seemed to NOT want cats. (Photos of dogs everywhere) and when I took the cat in, they rudely were saying "here's THE CAT...and the CAT is here." I told them "forget it...I'm picking him up immediately." When I got there, they rudely handed the carrier to me...no kindness...no suggestions...nothing. They even had shaved him (about a 3" x 4" area) down to the skin right on top of his back! As I was leaving, I suggested to them that they "shouldn't call people's pets 'IT'. The cat is a 'HE' and people don't like their pets to be called 'ITs'." They promptly told me "ohhhh, sorrry...and were laughing at me!." Imagine! The most disrespectful customer service I have encountered anywhere, in years. RUDE RUDE RUDE! DON'T go there unless you want to be laughed at and have your beloved pet called an "IT". P.S. I went to the pharmacy and bought anti-bacterial wipes, a new pet brush and some cutting shears and brushed, cleaned and trimmed Mom's cat with NO issues. Save your money! read more

Well lets first start by saying I have gone here over 5 yrs with no complaints...yes occasionally they cut too short on my 3 westies noses but human error that small can be forgiven and was. My one female had passed away Feb 27th so this time it was my 11 yr old male & 3 yr old female. I told them Maizie passed away...they groomed her for over 5 yrs, not even I am so sorry to hear that from anyone but that was least of my complaints. Milo had surgery and was all healed up before I took them down...when I picked them up I noticed his nose was cut extremely close (yes balded) but again,in the past this has happened...I didn't realize how bad it was til I took a pic. Then when I went to get him out of my white car his leg was bleeding at incision site. I bandaged him and called. They wanted to see him so I took him down to owner who repeatedly said that did NOT happen here...well I just left there and got home so what does it look like? I called vet who now wants to see him because it was an expensive surgery & he knew it had all healed up.I was lucky they said he would be ok and pointed out a bald spot under Milo's neck too where it looked like trimmer ran away. I have pics if anyone wants to see his bald nose & neck. I ask owner to please refund his cut and I also asked who groomed him,again, not only to say they did NOTHING but called to WARN me also about posting something not true on social media. I have the message also. She has not refunded me and not even as much as an apology...steer clear from this place. I can't believe I managed 5 yrs + without ever complaining & suddenly I am the liar. Her facebook page I messaged privately to try and be nice and not cost her business and her page says they monitor it frequently. I notice my message was read but when she called she tells me she hasn't been on that site in 6 yrs...that HER daughter set it up and she was the one who read my message. Her Business was closed after leaving vet so I figured that was a good place to start, a private message. At this point she has shown she does not DESERVE business. If you love your pet as we all do, find a different groomer & get references. read more

My dog's hair is PERMANENTLY ruined. I'm very disappointed to say I'll be finding another groomer. I first took my dog here 2 years ago. I have a long haired chihuahua and this is the first time I have owned a dog needing grooming. When summer hit two years ago my dog seemed hot and uncomfortable with too much hair. I took her to the Pet Stop and asked for a "summer hair cut" They gave her a shave down and the hair grew back. I've taken her for trims in the mean time, and this year when I brought her in for a summer hair cut they shaved her down again. This time it did not grow back. It grew back in weird patches. I've looked it up online and it appears that it will never be the same again. I'm very upset that my dog's hair is ruined and will only be patchy or short now. I feel that the groomer should have warned me this could happen. I called today to set an appointment for her and mentioned all this to the owner. I really expected her to say, "I'm so sorry, you should have been told! We'll do our best to make her look OK." Instead she insisted that two years ago I surely WAS told and that I probably insisted on having her shaved anyway, and that she did not owe me an apology. I never even wanted her shaved, I did it at the suggestion of the groomer thinking that's what people did with dogs in the summer. If they had told me this may never be the same, I would have said, don't shave her then! I'm sure that the people at the Pet Stop generally try to be consistent, but this time they dropped the ball, and instead of offering an apology they passed blame to me. Before this, I liked the service I received there, but I'm just not comfortable with businesses that dodge responsibility and pass it to the customer. It's not professional. I'm disappointed to say that I'm leaving the groomer I had only good experiences with previously because of the rudeness of the owner. read more

This is place is the best! Always nice and understanding. I have taken my dogs to many places, from big chain groomers to high end groomers and Pet Stop is by far the nicest. The groomers take their time with the dogs and really do a good job, always making sure the owner is satisfied. Love The Pet Stop!! Only place I know where you can walk in for a nail trim ... no appointment necessary! And the price is very reasonable! In the summer I regularly stop there with my two dogs .. one of which that absolutely hates to have her nails cut ... and then we are off to South Park for some exercise .. so convenient!!! read more
