I got a puppy in aug of 2022 and he is awesome. No issues what so ever. Took him to the same vet my other dog goes to. I was kinda nervous to get a puppy at a store but all this shots had stickers and he was up todate on everything. He is not over a year and no issues at all. He has not been sick at all. He trained well and is a great people person type of dog. Had him and my lab groomed and they were awesome. read more

Couldn't be less happy I took my cat in when I was new to pueblo. I heard this was a good pet store and assumed it would be a good groomer too (my own fault) I took my cat in twice. The first time he came back with a large cut behind his ear I complained but wasn't too mad, I know cats are hard to groom. But the second time.... my cat came back with a 3 inch long cut down his back! After one day it started to get infected. I went in to talk to the groomer who said "oh I don't know how that could have happened" then walked away. Thank goodness the vet was able to give him cream but the injury got so infected that he was in pain for weeks and the whole area still doesn't grow hair (almost a year later) The pet store staff is nice and they have plenty of products But the grooming department is awful and I will never go again read more

Adorable puppies, but where they come from is not. Buyer beware...use a reputable breeder if you must have a purebred. They say their dogs come from reputable breeders, when they actually come from a puppy broker, who gets pups from mills all over. Reputable breeders won't sell to brokers , or pet stores, reputable breeders want to know where their pups go. Ask to see the pups paperwork and research the breeder before you buy. Also, as much as we all like petting these cute pups, they are putting every pup in there at risk by allowing it. They can easily contract diseases such as Parvo and others. Don't support puppy mills please! read more

I've always liked coming to Pet Paradise because not only because I support small town business but it's also one of the coolest pet stores around. With a wide variety of animals to purchase at a reasonable price (with the exception of pure bred dogs) I also like the fact that you can bring your animals inside to shop with you. Plus when coming in you have an opportunity to feed the insanely large coy fish in the front area with food dispensers nearby that only cost 25 cents. Overall my experiences have always been good and I will continue to shop here. read more

Can't unsee what I saw at Pet Paradise here in Pueblo today. My dogs were too be groomed. I walked in there was an older lady aggressively jerking hair out of a large black poodle type dog. It was squealing & crying while she used that needle type brush. She was jerking it's hair out of the leg & paw. Over&over. I wish I had video. When she noticed me watching she switched to a brush. Im still in shock. There's no way I was leaving my dogs to be groomed there. What's sad is the dogs can't speak for themselves. Maybe she don't like her job, then she should quit! I went into this store and fell In love with a puppy. the price was similar to that of surrounding breeders and I've always wanted that breed. the workers swore up and down that they only get puppies from reputable breeders so I went ahead a got the puppy. we'll come to find out that the puppy did in fact come from a puppy mill. it was bought by a puppy broker named crittersville who is know to buy from some of the worse puppy mills around. the paperwork was also a shame. the paperwork said tge puppy "had all of the shots" but there were no stickers or serial numbers so my vet has now assumed that the puppy never had shots. the puppy also had kennel cough when we got home. I will not be shopping here ever again because they fully support puppy mills. also letting people pet the puppies put them at a huge risk for disease. don't trust these people when they say they don't buy from puppy mills because they do!! read more

I absolutely would not recommend the pet grooming service. When I called them to see if my dog was ready to be picked up, they said no, give us another 1/2 hour. They said there was something wrong with the dryer. I went immediately there and the manager said my dog had a seizure while he was put in the caged dog dryer! They did not tell me over the phone. They should have called me and told me he had a seizure but they did not! My poor old Beagle has never had a seizure! DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG THERE! read more

My friends cat was groomed here a couple days ago and died this morning. The cat had multiple wounds on its body from the grooming sheers. She was in perfect health going into the groomer and when she came out, her demeanor completely changed. She became withdrawn and would not eat or drink and this morning she passed away. I would implore anyone who's thinking of bringing their fur baby here for grooming to look elsewhere. Received a puppy as a gift that came from this pet store. The dog is now 1 and a half years old. Literally speaking the dog has a personality disorder. Out of curiosity I thought I would take my concerns to the breeder himself. The breeder is: Roger Campbell, and Marla Campbell from Newton, Kansas. This is what I discovered about these people. Marla and Roger Campbell- Newton, KS: "Very Thin" Mother Dogs and Filthy Conditions In April 2013, USDA inspectors found two Boxers at the Campbells' puppy mill who were "very thin, with back bones ribs, and hip bones clearly visible," according to the inspector. Both of the dogs were females who were nursing litters of puppies. The inspector also found a bull terrier who had hair loss and cloudy eyes. The report also listed a number of additional violations, three of which were "repeat" violations, including unsafe housing, dirty feeders, and dogs kept outside in the cold without adequate protection from the weather. In 2012, USDA inspectors cited the Campbells for a dog with a bloody, swollen foot, a dog with eye problems, and keeping medications for use on the dogs that had expired in 2009. The puppy mill houses more than 200 dogs and puppies. It has also been cited repeatedly for filthy conditions, for keeping dogs in cages that were too small, for not making the facility accessible for inspection, and for numerous other problems. Great Service, the owners are great people. Went in looking for a tank divider, the lady walked us to the section and even helped us find the one we were looking for. We have two cats, a leopard gecko, and a hamster, so this place is perfect for us because they have everything for our babies. I really enjoy and like the store at Pet Paradise. However, my husband took my little dog in to get groomed at 10:00 am and it was almost 2:00 pm and I called them and said it would be another 20 minutes. I'm so stupid and feel so bad that I didn't call earlier. The groomer was informed that my dogs was a rescue dog from a Puppy Mill and had lived in a crate/cage for 4 years having puppies... so, DO NOT put her in a in a crate/cage. I didn't realize that when the dog gets older they put them down. They kill them! . I drove to the Trinidad to pick her up and one of the things they stressed was NEVER be caged again. Well, when my husband went in she was sitting in a cage. If that's not effect, when he brought her home, they did a horrible job. I called and asked for the manager (Gail) with all my complaints; I told her that she needs to be recut and that I never want that groomer again. She was snippy with me and seemed frustrated that I was bothering her. Well....the so called "Manager" was the groomer! Boy, did she get an ear full!!! Anyway, she had Annie fix her, as my husband waited and watched. Annie did a really good job with her. If I were the owner of the store, she's be fired on the spot!!! I do plan to use Annie again but, only because I spoke to Justin (a real "Manager") that manages both the store and the groomers. I told him that it was very important that he share this feed back with the owner of the store, because I sure would want to know if it was my business. read more

I feel that most groomers interest is in making a living which is fine..But I feel dogs are not treated with love and care. I've seen enough to convince me of that and makes me wonder what my dogs went through while I wasn't there to protect them. I'm still looking for a safe loving environment for mine. The lady from Denver must have been lucky enough to find a decent person to groom hers. Just because animals don't complain or scream out loud, DOES NOT mean they have no feelings. Have someone pull your hair, hit your hand or feet with a brush or better yet, brush your hair harsh with them brushes you use on dogs, or jerk you around by the neck cause you won't stand still, ETC. I was referred to this facility by a friend due the fact that I'm new to this area. Upon entrance reception was spot on I felt good about my dog going here. The receptionist could not find my appt. Oops. Not this Tuesday but next. But wait on the phone I said,"this Tuesday at 0830 correct?" "Yes sir", she says. Wrong but the groomer says she can fit him in. I asked her if she was sure and if it would impede her lunch, she said no, that she "eats whenever and loves working", She should be done around 1300. Wrong. It was 1700 hrs by the time I was called to pick him up. My poor dog was there for over 8 hrs locked in a cage the whole time. When I did receive my dog back the second I got him out the door he peed just a bit and it was looking slightly dark. Possible sign of dehydration? When I got him home he hit his water dish like there was no tomorrow. I can only imagine that he was never let out the cage to pee or given water. This is my assumption of course. However the signs are quite obvious. This is BULLSHIT! My dog is a part of my family and deserves to be treated with the respect that these groomers would treat they're own dogs. Never take your dog here unless you want the same treatment. I'm pissed. No pun intended. 0 stars if possible. Plus I tipped the groomer before knowing this on an account of a nice haircut. I wish I could take back my tip and the entire paid price. Annie the groomer do not overbook yourself for money and allow dogs to suffer to fill your pockets. You selfless dog abuser! read more

I have been visiting this pet store since 2001. I have 4 children and love animals and we have quite a menagerie. Over the years they have assisted with Lizards, Birds, Cats, Dogs, Ferrets, Freshwater and Saltwater fish as well as a Caiman Crocodile. This store is knowledgeable and honest. When we 1st got out most unique pet, they volunteered they had not owned 1 personally with the Caiman but had knowledge and in addition looked up information with me and over the years have learned as we have. Anytime I have needed or requested something for any part of my menagerie that they did not have they were prompt to order it for me and their prices are very fair. I also appreciate the fact that they remember their repeat customers and our pets. The facility is clean and their pets are very well cared for. I appreciate you all! Took my dog in for a bath and haircut. When we picked him up, staff was very sketchy about bringing my dog, Arnie out. When he came out, his eye was bloody and his left side of his face was swollen. They said it was from him straining on his collar while taking a bath. We didn't buy it. They said if it didn't look better in 48 hours, to call them and they would take him to their vet. We weren't comfortable with that; our dog looked miserable. So we took him to our vet in Colorado Springs whom we have gone to for a while now, and we trust. They took a look at Arnie. Realized he had bruising throughout his eye, his ear, and his mouth. Determined there was no way that was from "straining" on his collar. Livid, realizing someone had HIT my dog, I called pet paradise and talked to grooming manager. She said "it happened while they were blow drying him". Story had changed. And so basically, she allowed us to believe someone hit him with the blow dryer. LONG STORY SHORT-- We urge you to NOT GO TO PET PARADISE. I'm so disappointed. I've been bringing my dogs here for years and have usually been highly satisfied with their service. But I recently brought in my newest member of the family, a rescue dog that I still don't know much about, and was so surprised with the "service" they provided. This dog was less than cooperative when they tried to trim his nails. I expected them to handle this situation professionally; this can't possibly be the first time they've seen a rescue dog that was unfamiliar with the process. Instead, after a minute of trying, they pushed my dog out of the door, literally and threw a pile of powder on the counter to apply to his over trimmed nail that was bleeding everywhere. The handler didn't even have the decency to explain to me that he was bleeding and she didn't even give me time to grab the leash.That was it. I tried to apologize and reiterate that he was a rescue and that I didn't know how he would react, but they shut the door in my face. I still don't know how he reacted because they didn't say a word to me. I will never bring any of my animals back here again, even the well behaved ones. read more

My mother took one of our pups to get groomed. When she went to pick him up, his eyes were extremely bloodshot and he was scared. When asked what happened, she was told that the groomer left him in the room, tied up with the dryer on and he had been pulling on his leash trying to get away. The groomer stated that she had no clue how long he had been doing it.
