It's incredibly disappointing to send my pet with the exact amount of food and treats needed for their stay, only to have them come home with food and treats still left over. That tells me they weren't fed according to the instructions I provided, and that's simply unacceptable. Proper feeding is a basic part of caring for someone's pet, and this feels like a serious lapse in care. read more

Be aware if you send your dog here to be groomed they will not be given any care beyond what grooming services you pay for. That means no water, no bathroom breaks, no walks. We brought our dog home after being there and it was clear she didn't have any help because as soon as we got in the house she evacuated her bowels and her bladder, and gulped up her whole water dish. I have no idea who thought it was a good idea to put a dog in a box after it's been groomed, but it's clearly not good care for animals. read more

Disorganized and Frustrating Experience I recently took my dog to Pet Paradise for a four-day stay because my regular kennel was full. This was my backup option, and I was hesitant from the start--looking back, I should have trusted my instincts. The lobby was crowded, with only one person handling the desk and phones while several customers waited. Usually, there's an older woman who checks us in, and she is always very friendly. She wasn't there when I checked in this time, although I did see her later when I returned to speak with the manager. When it was my turn, I asked if I could email my dog's medication instructions since the staff member, initially nice, was overwhelmed and didn't give me a form. I sat in my car and emailed all the details as requested. Later, she called to say she couldn't access the email. I offered to provide the info again, but she insisted I hadn't filled out a form (which I never received), and she raised her voice, talked over me, and didn't listen. The conversation became tense and confusing, so I decided to pick up my dog. When I explained to the manager what happened--including the issues with emailing and the staff member's attitude--she simply said, "That doesn't sound like something she would say." Instead of acknowledging any possible miscommunication or offering to make it right, she just defended her staff. This was a bad experience. I did not feel comfortable leaving my dog there after all that, and I would never return or give them my business. read more

Excellent experience getting my seven-month-old Bernedoodle groomed for the first time. Brittney did a fantastic job and really listened to my requests. Check-in and pickup were quick and easy. Very grateful to have found such a good groomer! read more

Groomers really take the time to make sure the pups look their best. Always smelling great!

GO TO DOGTOPIA!! Recently moved here temporarily as healthcare travelers; our dogs have been to daycares throughout the country and this place is awful!! Took them 3 times all of which they spent almost the entire time in crates due to "staff calling out". They told us one day they had 2 employees for the entire facility! Thats insane! If you work at a dog daycare and mass call out leaving dogs to sit in crates you need to find another line of work. If youre reading this review just check dogtopias cams versus pet paradises cams. It will speak for itself. read more

Nothing but great experiences here! We've been taking our dog here since moving this past summer and we've always had great experiences.

Make sure you look at the dates on these reviews. Maybe at one point they were good... Before you take your babies here, please look at all the terrible reviews below. There are a few good ones. These are probably from clients who are clueless what is actually happening behind the scenes at this place. Also, the people who have been giving good reviews--my guess is they have had their dogs here for minimal amounts of time. I have had my dogs here for 3+ years, pretty much daily. I have given this company thousands of dollars, so I promise I have experience dealing with this place. I have also been at 10+ daycares across the East Coast due to my job: There are unfortunately only a few daycares in the area--hence our staying. Also, I wanted to give this place a chance, as I kept thinking it would get better. I also love a handful of people at this place---Charlie, Robin, Lizzie, Ari, Lequecia, for example. These people do not get enough credit or recognition. They are literally the reason this location is still in business! Also, I have had no issues at all with grooming here. They have been great, especially Samantha. My concerns have been with boarding and doggie daycare. The staff turnover here at the Charlottesville location is insane. In the 3 years we have been here, people are constantly leaving. I have had 3 staff members who were leaving tell me under their breath how bad this place is. While I feel the company in general cares so much about the money, it is really this Charlottesville location that has major issues. We actually had a pretty good experience at two Florida locations. When I have brought up concerns, I have been told by a girl in management, Caitlin, that I have been "targeting" staff. Also, it is nearly impossible to get Corporate's number. Why? Great question. That seems sketchy, right? They seem to care more about their staff members' feelings than their dogs! There is zero accountability and very poor communication, aside from with those individuals mentioned above. They are always understaffed, so many days daycare has been cut short (and I have not been called and alerted to this). In the morning, there are often lines of dogs waiting outside with zero organization. My biggest concern is safety. My one dog was let out of his harness/leash in the parking lot (easily could have been hit by a car!!), staff forgot about this same dog for 8 hours and left him in his run without a potty break, and they failed to feed my dogs properly. When boarded, they have come home with half of their food still there. My other dog was bitten and then proceeded, on a different day, to bite another dog when she was not properly taken out of group when she should have been. By the way, this dog is almost 4 years old with zero history of aggression. I watched the videos and counselors failed to recognize very clear anxious dog behavior. And by the way, it is on clients to pay the vet bills of other dogs bitten (even when staff fail to do their job to protect our dogs!). They said to me that I owed over $300 for this other dog's vet bill! ZERO accountability! Their literal priority is SAFETY. The counselors seem simply inexperienced and the staff is consistently turning over. I have concerns about dogs' safety here, and I have concerns about the way in which this location, and company, is run just in general. When I have tried to express my concerns, it has been met with lack of response and accountability and blaming. I love dogs and I am so concerned about the safety of dogs at this facility. We will be going elsewhere. Also, management: Start looking at your very bad reviews!! Clients are trying to tell you something, so stop being defensive and do something! Also, this will make you laugh--this place charges $72 for individual boarding for two dogs--this means dogs sit in a run and get out twice daily. If you want to add in additional time for them to get outside, that is an additional $20 per dog per day. On top of everything above, they are a complete ripoff. IF YOU READ NOTHING ELSE: HUGE SAFETY CONCERNS, TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, and I DO NOT BELIEVE THEY CARE ABOUT THESE ANIMALS. read more

Have been taking my two dogs for daycare one to three times a week for the past five months. Almost all the staff knows my dogs by name when I bring them in and they never pull or tug on the leashes to get them to go to the kennels. They're very patient and kind with all the dogs as far as I have seen. I have boarded with them once over a long weekend and have had my dogs groomed twice, no issues/complaints with either of those services. Today at daycare, there was an incident with another dog and one of mine. I was pleasantly surprised by the promptness and professionalism of the staff and manager to let me know what had happened and the follow up to check on her. I will definitely continue to bring my dogs and recommend them to friends and family. I wouldn't totally trust some of the one star reviews on here, I've had nothing but positive experiences. read more

I picked my dog up and immediately noticed how dirty he was. when we got home he rolled on his back and I realized he needed to go to the vet immediately. come to find out my dog contracted an std during his stay. if anyone working there even looked at my dog during his 10 day stay they would've seen that something was wrong. for being one of the most expensive dog boarding in Charlottesville it's not worth it on top of coming home straight to a vet bill read more

Great place to go! My dogs Love the grooming and daycamp! Always leave happy! I recommend this place to everyone! They Really care!

For starters, they didn't even call us until 10 hours after a horrific kennel fire in which several pets were lost/killed/went missing and all (about 80) animals were stuck in a burning building for 40 minutes (if lucky) and 3 hours (if not). Local vets donated emergency help thanks to the fire chief--but as far as we know Pet Paradise did basically nothing. I could understand the poor communication if this was a mom-and-pop business scrambling in an emergency, but this is a big corporate operation with a call center in Richmond, so I just can't figure out why they didn't contact pet owners to let them know the bad news. Our cat is so horribly matted and traumatized that I have to believe she wasn't being well cared for even before the fire. Do not recommend! Postscript: Still no calls or emails back from Pet Paradise, and when I call the number they provide in the Yelp response below, the phone company says it has been disconnected. :( read more

Do not take your pet here. I made a day camp reservation for my dog when I was visiting Charlottesville. I was told that he would have three hours of play and then some rest in his own space with a cot and water. When I walked in, I was told that since he was being "evaluated" he would be confined in his own space for the whole day except for two thirty-minute periods of play. I asked to see where his space and was taken up to a long warehouse room which had row upon row of 4 ft by 4 ft STEEL CAGES with no cots and no water in a windowless room. There were about 30 dogs in there, all barking, all confined to tiny, airless, waterless cages. I could not get out of there fast enough. If you want your pets treated with respect and dignity, stay as far away from this place as possible. What's happening here is cruel. read more

We've brought out dogs to this location since it opened many years ago. Susan Hadley built a wonderful place for pet owners to board their pets and never had to worry. My daughter worked there while in college in the kennels. Susan made sure pets were nurtured and treated with love and respect. Prices were always reasonable for day camp, boarding and grooming. Jim and Karen Brown purchased Pampered Pets and continued the tradition of excellent pet care. It was awesome. Fast forward to Summer of 2019. I've had the same experience as others. Calls answered by a call center. In two grooming appointment calls for grooming I was told I needed to have my Vet send over our dog's Immunization records. Summer grooming was great. Same groomer, same cost. November grooming was okay. I asked for just a bath, nails and paw trim. What normally was $55 turned to $75 in the Fall. Just four months later. Quite a jump in rates. I'm going to start looking for a new grooming and boarding facility. I'm sorry to all former Pampered Pets employees who have taken such great care of our girl the past five years. But this company (Pet Paradise) has turned the former Pampered Pets into a place I don't think I can afford anymore and the feeling I get when we're there just isn't good. read more

Receptionist is rude with poor communication and lack of problem solving skills. Cancelled grooming appointments last minute, as in 2 min prior to the appointment time via email. EMAIL!!!! A call to apologize for the inconvenience as soon as the need to cancel our appointment arrived and a complementary service offered would have been nice prior to upsetting the dogs routine and driving 40 mins to the facility and having to double back 40 mins to drop the dog back off at home. My time is valuable as well. We will never be goi g back to this facility and will be making sure our friends with dogs are made aware as well. read more

Great for your fur babies, they can play all day and they have a break from 12-1 to eat lunch and relax!

Terrible. They had our two dogs for about six hours and did not even groom them. They also were not answering their phone, so I had to drive to the store to see how they were doing. When I saw how they were being treated we left immediately. AVOID!! read more

I made a reservation to have my pet boarded and got a confirmation. When I called one day before my trip I was told "the new owners are having problems with the web site" and we cant find your reservation Great....thanks That leaves me scrambling to find someplace for my pet, likely I'll have to skip vacation. What a terrible way to run a business. And with the prices they charge there should be better service........ Awful, simply awful read more

My almost 10 yr old has been boarded for years at many places . She's never come home as timid and jumpy as this time . They went to say bye to her at pick up and she was extremely skittish. She was hiding in a corner of our home for the entire first night. This is such odd behavior for her . It's tough to attribute and dissect the emotions of animals, but it made me nervous enough to not go back. I'm also just not a huge fan of the extra charges to do literally everything. This city is the only one I've boarded her that seems to do this (I'm sure there are others, but no MAJOR cities that I'm aware of) Plus the older lady at the front desk was a bit condescending for my taste. read more

The absolute worse kennel EVER! My dog spent 3 nights, 4 days at the one in Charlottesville on Harris Avenue. When we picked her up we asked how she did and the woman at the desk said "I don't see any notes in her file" "so I guess she was fine." Once we got her home she refused to get out of our car. When we finally coaxed her out of the back seat she jumped in the rear hatch area when she heard a car go by. For days she would not eat or go outside without being coaxed. And once out she would act timid and scared and walked with her tail between her legs. This was not the dog that we dropped off at Pet Paradise. It took her almost a full week to become herself again. And now she is afraid of loud noises, thunder and she will not go in her crate AT ALL! I don't know what they did to her but from the way she was behaving it could not have been a good experience! Also it doesn't help having a train run right through the back of the Kennel areal! I would never, ever recommend Pet Paradise to anyone! Whenever I mention our horrible experience to people they all say the same thing "that is exactly what I have heard about that place!" If I could I would give zero stars but I don't want that to appear as if I didn't give a rating! DON'T GO TO PET PARADISE!!!! No wonder you only have 2 stars. Two too many if you ask me!!!!!! read more

Fire aside, we were unhappy with the service provided by Pet Paradise. The fire, which occurred ~5 hours after we picked up our senior kitty (a day earlier than planned!!! Thank heavens our vacations was shortened) was the final nail in the coffin. My first experience with 'Pet Paradise' was scheduling an 3 day boarding stay in July 2018 for our senior cat who had stayed multiple times (~once annually for several years) at Pampered Pets, the same location/facility that was bought out by Pet Paradise. Firstly, when I called the # for boarding I waited for over 20 minutes to be connected to someone who could schedule the boarding. Then it took the representative (who is not onsite, but in a separate call center, over 5 minutes to locate any record of my pet to confirm she/we were 'return' customers). In all the call took over 30 minutes (whereas in the past it took ~5 minutes to confirm there was space, records were up to date, details of the stay, etc.) When I arrived I brought my cat with her food (in a bag with a serving scoop), treats, bedding, and a toy - which we always did when dropping her off with the original company on this site (Pampered Pets). When checking in I was told bedding was provided and I could not leave her soft pad or toy (extra bedding from home had been encouraged/welcomed before and this new policy seemed a little odd as it would require some laundry washing for soft bedding and weird to have the same soft bedding washed & then provided to another animal...). Because this was different I asked if I could go upstairs with them to 'say goodbye' and see her space and the women at the desk said 'no' - which was a little weird as at least one is a longtime employee at this location and I had always been able to accompany my cats upstairs before leaving them when the facility was owned by Pampered Pets. (Honestly this should have been my spidey-senses moment, but I admit I was in a bit of a hurry and as we had left her at this location before I didn't fuss). Also I also noticed that Pet Paradise has posted signs around that all amenities were included, no extras were charged (e.g. for treats, play times while boarding, etc.) which was different to the previous company on-site and I thought that was a nice upgrade. I wasn't asked if I wanted to pay for a daily cuddle/play time for my cat or pay extra for pre-'bedtime' treat. Fast forward to August (approximately 6 weeks later) when I needed to board her again for a few nights. Again I was on hold for ~20 minutes while waiting for the central call center to pick up (So very different from being able to call the location directly & get start to finish arrangements made in 5 minutes!). Once I was able to speak with a customer service rep and request an appointment I was told I would have to provide vet records for my cat as her records were out of date (I had just provided her vet records 6 weeks ago when she boarded and she was not due for any vaccines for at least 9 months). I was then placed on hold for ~ 10 minutes while the csr called the Charlottesville location directly and inquired about my cat's records. Yes, they had them on file. The ccr then came back and apologized for the wait and told me the company had a new system and that was the problem. I went ahead and made the reservation as our reason or boarding was last-minute and the location was familiar to us & our cat. I was then told by the csr (and new to me) if I didn't want to pay extra for the facility providing cat food I should pack our own cat food in individual servings in ziploc bags/containers (?). (Remember last time I went (6 weeks prior!) that there were signs all over the lobby saying that there were no charged for extras like food, play time, treats, etc, that the flat rate was a flat rate and included all activities, etc while your pet was in their care...?) When I dropped off our sweet senior girl they took her upstairs and as I looked around there were signs about activities, etc that you could pay extra for if you wanted your pet to experience them while boarded (play times, etc) - quick about-face on the 'no extra charges' stance. At this point my frustration was peak, but as we were going on a 3 day trip with no other back up plan I did leave our girl there with her food & hoped she would be fine for a few days. I also called another local boarder while leaving PP to ascertain whether they were accepting new boarders, etc) Short version: Ridiculously long(!!!!) call holds, poor customer service/systems, everything is covered to suddenly everything is nickeled and dimed ,a fire has occurred with no clear future preventative action (sprinkler system, what!?). Pet Paradise does not have your pet's best interest in mind. Period. read more

Had the absolute worst experience with my dog Jingle getting groomed. I drop him off and when I come to pick him back up, he had a sizable cut/gash on the bottom of his left ear and was shaking and clearly anxious (I attached pictures). The lady who groomed him, Samantha Kelly, called me after he was groomed and told me that she cut his ear and that she was sorry. I was clearly upset and asked what they would do to fix this situation, and all they did was take a measly $15 off. Jingle was bleeding from his ear and I sensed no remorse from the groomer. I understand that accidents happen, but the manner in which this was handled, and the sheer fact that I am a loyal customer of Pet Paradise and have been bringing my dog there for over a year, and have never had an issue with Jingle "misbehaving" while getting groomed throughout the entire time i've been taking him to Pet Paradise, just upsets me overall. read more

A person on the phone booked a grooming appointment for my cat. Then one hour prior the day of the appointment they cancelled THROUGH EMAIL. It's a good thing I get email to my phone. When I called to inquire they said they no longer take cats and the appointment should never have been booked because they don't have the space. They then could not recommend any place to send my cat for grooming. I have been taking my cat to Pampered Pets for grooming every 3 months for 5 and a half years, and I am so disappointed with how they have treated me as a returning client. read more

My dog came (or tried to come) here for daycare twice. The first day was his evaluation. Setting the appointment up was a pain, as they do all scheduling through their corporate number rather than at each individual location. My dog loves daycare but wasn't nearly as energetic as he usually is by the time he came home. They apparently board them a lot during the day (I was told only 20 minutes of play at a time) which really doesn't seem worthwhile. When I tried to make an online appointment, I found that none of the information I had originally given was in their system. As a result, I had to wait until Monday (even through the Charlottesville location is open on weekends, the people who schedule are not- another major inconvenience) to schedule his appointment on the phone. Finally I had set everything up, I took him to daycare- and all of the staff was outside due to a fire. I went around 8am Monday, and the fire had occurred at 6pm Sunday. Obviously it was an emergency at one point, but being that all of their scheduling is off sight anyways I have no idea why someone couldn't email or text indicating that they'd be closed. More than a week later, I still haven't heard anything from them. Even when they're up and running again, I will not be bringing my dog here. read more

I am incredibly frustrated with this place. I take my dogs in for an evaluation and one of my dogs does not pass. It turns out that if you have them in separate groups, they have a see-through gate so of course my female who is very protective of her brother sees him and she wants to get to him. At other places they would just put them in different groups and she wouldn't see him the entire day. Well that was fine, I decided that I would just keep her with me since she's a Velcro dog and him being the active one, I would send him to pet paradise where he could get his high energy needs met and his need for companionship with other playful dogs. So I purchase a five day pass and they never tell me anything about whether or not I have to make some type of arrangement because I said that I want the pass that I can use any time. So I take him in whenever I want to just like at the old place which is further from my house (I wanted to find something closer ) and it's fine . They never say anything. And I'm not keeping track of my pass because I'm busy and at my other place, they let me know when my pass is going to be up. So I asked my daughter to take him today because she was going to town and she gets there and they tell her that he's not allowed there because I haven't made a reservation??? What? They never told me once that I needed needed to make a reservation. So she's upset because I live at Zions crossroads so it's not like she can come back here and she has to get to work and they've never properly told me any of this. In fact every time I go there they act like their chickens with their heads cut off running around not knowing what to do and what they are supposed to be doing. I just feel like it's such a shame that their employees can't be bothered to even speak to you or ask questions or do anything but look at a computer screen and pretend that you're not a human being that needs to know real information. The only positive thing I will say is that he seems to like it there and I was really happy about that. But if I can't bring him in when I need to then what good is it? They really should have told me the rules and explained things to me instead of just leaving me to fend for myself. They don't even tell you where you're supposed to park , where we are supposed to pick up the dogs ? You are just left to sort of stumble around trying to figure out what to do . And they say that you're supposed to be able to see the dogs? They've never even once given me any information on how to watch from a Camera. My dogs have been going to Dogtopia for years and they told me everything I needed at sign up. Thank goodness for Dogtopia because my daughter was able to just go straight there and take my dog. It's just so much further away from our home and I was really hoping to find something close by. read more

I have taken my pup here twice and have had WONDERFUL experiences! Making a reservation online was so easy. The facilities are fantastic and the staff was so kind to both me and my pup. His first grooming was excellent and exactly what I asked for. He was very happy afterwards and had no nervousness returning for his second grooming. He was very excited to see his groomer, Brittany (who did such an amazing job), even though he has been timid to return to the groomer before we came to Pet Paradise. He also had his first day camp experience (which was free for the first visit) and seemed to have had the best time. I loved being able to view the webcam during breaks in my work day to check up on him, and was so pleased to see the staff constantly there with the dogs to ensure that they were all okay and getting along well. It's so great to know that my pup is being taken care of so well and that he is having a blast while I am at work. We will definitely be back and are so happy we found Pet Paradise in Charlottesville. read more

We had a fantastic experience with Pet Paradise. I had used two other groomers in town with mixed results. This time, I was impressed from start to finish. If you love your pet, or even just like your pet don't take it here. Deplorable conditions. The place smells like pee because they house so many dogs they make them pee and poop indoors inside their individual kennels (yes they make your dogs use the toilet on themselves). It's so loud and noisy in there you can hear the dogs barking from outside the facility. It looks like a prison for dogs. Their "housing" is rows of small cages with nothing inside, no cots or even a bowl in it (don't let their pictures on the website fool you. It is not a happy place). Each cage is filled with a different dog barking loudly and no play areas to be seen. They don't answer the phone, there are no cameras (or they'll tell you the cameras aren't working). I'm not even trying to exaggerate here. If your dog comes back with anxiety issues you'll know why. Mine came back shaking after less than a day. read more

Our dog has been boarded at Pet Paradise once before, but after an unexpected delay getting back into town during his most recent stay at Pet Paradise, we called and asked for a staff member to stay a few minutes past pickup (at 5pm) so that he would not have to stay an extra night. The assistant manager ended up staying late for us, which allowed to see our pup earlier than we expected! read more

Believe the 1 star reviews, I took my 10 month old puppy for grooming. I made sure to tell the groomer that I had a hard time getting him an appointment so he was a few weeks overdue and I pointed out where I thought he had some knots, we spoke about what kind of haircut I wanted and at no point did she say that he was matted and needed to be shaved. I picked him up and he looked like a rat, his haircut was completely uneven and shaved almost to his skin, his nails were so jagged that when I put him down he left scratches on me despite putting almost no pressure on my arms. The groomer couldn't even be bothered to speak to me herself and when I called later to complain I was told that my dog was trying to bite her, when I pushed further and raised a concern that the company wouldn't call me if my dog was behaving aggressively, I found out that he was just nipping like a puppy, and this is the reason he was shaved. The groomers here lack patience and skill. Dog groomers are so quick to blame owners for why they shaved dogs without their consent or letting them know, but I firmly believe the groomers here are impatient and unprepared. I took my puppy here because this place was highly recommended by a friend, this is my warning to you to just book an appointment at a Petsmart because they will have better customer service and a higher quality groom than pet paradise ever could. The customer service was absolutely atrocious. It's so expensive to have your dog groomed, especially when you have a dog that needs to be groomed about once a month, the least a place like this can do is to have good customer service and listen to your concerns. There were dogs barking and it sounded like fighting from the moment we entered the premise, when I picked my puppy up he was shaking and afraid. I've never had that kind of experience leaving a groomer. I will never take my dog back here and I would caution you to avoid it. read more

Where to begin? We had previously gotten our golden doodle groomed here back when it was still Pampered Pets. Unfortunately this last time, our dog came home looking like a completely different dog and not in a good way. We didn't even believe it was our dog until she finally stopped acting so weird because she was so traumatized from her grooming. She certainly was a little bit matted and so we expected them to have to shave her down a little bit more than usual, but I told the groomer that I really like to have her long and that if she could keep her as long as possible that would be great. The groomer told us that she would do her best to keep her as long as possible, and that the matting didn't seem so bad. I don't know if she got confused or made a mistake or was just straight up not telling us the truth, but when we picked up our dog, she was completely shaved down to the skin including her head, ears, and nose, and all her whiskers were gone. She also had bald patches on her chest and on her tummy. She looks sickly and almost like something's wrong with her. She also has scabs on her ears from when I'm guessing would be a cut from a very close call with the clipper. One of the worst parts is that they didn't even call us to warn us that they were going to be doing this to our dog. Even if the matting in her fur had been that bad, we would've appreciated a call to let us know that our dog was going to look like a completely different animal when we picked her up. We also would've appreciated possibly having the option to have them brush her out, even though we had told them beforehand that we didn't want to incur any additional charges. However, had we known that she would end up this way, we probably would've been willing to pay more. I didn't say anything when I picked her up because the groomer wasn't there and I was still in shock, but once I got home and gathered my thoughts I called the front desk and was told that someone would call me either the following day or the following Monday after that weekend to explain. It has now been a week and a half and we have not heard from anyone. My husband has called them three or four times and left messages and we still have not heard anything back. We could not be more disappointed with the service and with the type of cut they gave our poor dog, who is now very cold and looks nothing like herself. We were mostly calling to find out what the heck happened and whether or not we can get our money back but unfortunately we can't reach them short of actually stopping by and asking for our money back. It's safe to say we won't be coming back here, even though the first two times we got her groomed here they did a great job and she still looked a lot like herself. But after this experience, there is no way we can trust that they will do a good job every time. read more

My dog loves going to day camp. She leaps out of the car in the morning and can't wait to play with her friends. The transition from 'small dog' group to 'large' group was easy. The staff is very friendly and often give feedback on her behavior for the day. The facilities are clean and the camera system allows you go watch your dog play with the group. Luckily she is exhausted and well behaved when she gets home! read more

I would give this place a 0 if I could! We made an appointment months ago to have our two dogs stay here for the night while we attended family weekend at UVA. We immediately felt uncomfortable when the employee came right at our dog and tried to put an id collar on her without even greeting her or letting her sniff and then asked if she would be able to handle the dog. We were stunned that an employee of a pet place would ask this about a 14 year old Havanese that's never hurt anyone. Then, when we pulled out her medicine, both women suddenly announced that they didn't think the dog could stay after all. I had called twice and been told that we just needed to give instructions when we arrived. The website says there is no problem giving medicine. After a phone call they both said they wouldn't take her. No apology. Nothing! Charlottesville is such a pet friendly city and thankfully our hotel found us a pet friendly room but we weren't able to do some things we had planned for the day. read more

I boarded all 4 of my cats here when it was Pampered Pets. The price was very expensive, but we were having work done in our home and it was necessary. Since then, it has become Pet Paradise and they had a horrific fire. The fire department suggested they put in a sprinkler system. They re-opened fairly quickly and there is no mention of a sprinkler system. After what happened, you'd think they'd take heed and follow the fire department recommendation. read more

I brought my 2 dogs here for a 4 night stay. We were greeted with smiles when we walked in and right away we were taken care of. I watched them on the live cam daily when they went outside and they were all wags as they were played with by the staff. I paid extra for the "Furever Connected" package and it was worth it. It was comforting receiving pictures and a personalized update for Shadow and Rey while I was far away from home. When it came time for them to come home I think they were disappointed to leave, but they both passed out on the couch from exhaustion as soon as they walked in the front door! The Pawgress report was also a really great touch at pickup. I cannot wait to bring them back for my next trip out of state. read more
