Do not go here. Horrible since Dr Thomas left. I was told that the office visit would be free due to getting our new kitten a vaccination- but then got charged. I confronted the receptionist on this and she said that wasn't true since the kitten is a new pet. Also, receptionist was not wearing a mask! Dr. Seemed I'll informed on how to treat a skin condition my kitten has- he only seemed interested in seeking me preventative products but would contradict himself on what these product would do for her existing skin condition. I felt completely taken advantage of financially and left with no treatment for the kittens skin condition. read more

Beyond amazed! They saved my dog!! He ingested something and no hospital would see him due to being at capacity! We were treated so rudely by more then one place. The staff and dr at pet headquarters were angels! They were kind and took him immediately even though it was late and unlike the other place are not 24 hour. They never made us feel for one second like we were bugging them or keeping them late. They were kind they went out of their way to keep us informed! 5 stars all the way read more

I've been very happy taking my dogs here to see Dr. Thomas, who was very compassionate and always put the pets well being ahead of money. I went today to get the 2nd round of shots for my puppy, they charged me almost double what was quoted on the phone. Because of covid-19 I had to pay by credit card over the phone, the receptionist kept me on hold for 22 minutes and didn't care, withheld my puppy until paid. Not only will I never return, I'll make sure everyone I know is aware the rapid descent of service at this establishment. read more

New vet. Is impolite doesn't tell people his name and seems the up sales are unbelievable. Won't be going back. We miss dr. Thomas

Had apt but was running behind one hour. All I needed was a refill but they said I needed a checkup before getting the Rx again. Put my dogs on twice as many meds. When original meds worked fine. Recommended teeth cleaning when they had them done last week. Also said we should do another checkup in 10 days to see how meds are doing with possible Xray and blood panel. Meds are twice as expensive as before! read more

I will echo what every other recent review has said: Dr. Thomas is gone and this vet has turned upside down. Dr. Raj is the new vet and he clearly cannot run the business. His staff was remarkably lost and incompetent. It took 15 minutes to simply process my payment after my dog was finished. I have found a new vet.....This retail space will be available for lease soon, maybe somebody will open a good sandwich shop or something read more

I'm very sad to report that Dr Thomas has moved away and sold his practice. We've been to see the new vet twice, and after yesterday's visit we will NOT be returning. First, the message machine says they open at 8:00 on Saturdays. They did NOT open until 9:05. I was luckily I got their at 7:50 because when they finally opened there were at least 20 people behind me. One guy even started a list so it was fair for those of us that had been there for an hour. This same man said that 3 weeks prior he had waited 8 hours to see the vet on the Saturday walk in clinic. I got called back first at about 9:15 and I didn't leave until after 10. (And I was the first patient of the day!) The vet seemed nice but didn't explain much too me and it was hard to understand him as well. He was very slow taking notes. At one point he came in with a shot and told me that it was for my puppies worms. I had to help Hold my dog. When I finally got to leave the room It took me 20 mins to check out. There weren't any directions on any of the medicine being sent home. When I freaked because my bill was $180, I found out that the shot he gave my dog Was for nausea. It wasn't for the worms. He totally lied and got another $55 out of me. He sent me home with the de-worming meds and told me to give my dog 2.5 of the 3 pills. Thank goodness I looked up the dosing because my puppy should have only had 1 pill! I have never paid that much unless Dr Thomas did a surgery. (He's done 8-10 Surgeries for our dogs in the last several years) when I left after 10:00, their were at least 30-40 people on the list waiting to be seen. I would say save you time and money and look for a new vet! I'm actively searching for a new vet in Ventura that's reasonable like Dr Thomas was. We're heartbroken Dr Thomas moved away. He was one of a kind read more

I love Dr. Thomas I have 4 dogs and he treats them all. I was reading over the other reviews in shock by the terrible comments. I have nothing but great things to say about Dr Thomas and staff. What other Vet would give an emergency surgery on New Year's Eve to save the life of one of my dogs and charged me a great price. Dr. Thomas did. It just goes to show the kind of person he really is. I will always recommend Dr. Thomas and staff. They are Awesome!!!!!! read more

Horrible. We really miss Dr. Thomas. Never been told the new vets name. I went a few times to the new vet, wasn't thrilled, but today was the last straw. My dog is on a separate worming schedule from the shot schedule because she had issues when we first got her and needed to be wormed a week before she could get her shots. She had just gotten wormed again a few days prior. The vet knew this, as did the staff. I brought her in for shots only, and they still wormed her. They claim it won't hurt her, but it was unnecessary and they still charged me. This vet is also nickle and dimes you other ways so all of our bills have been surprises after going to Dr. Thomas for so long. My now deceased car was seen multiple times by Dr. Thomas before he left, and basically was trying to make him comfortable at his end of life. New vet repeatedly pressured me for tests and surgery. On my 18 year dying old cat. Ridiculous. Just wanted to make a buck. We're looking for a new vet. read more

TAKE YOUR PET ANYWHERE ELSE! Dr. Thomas no longer owns this business. I wasn't even told this when I called, and asked if Dr. Thomas was in today. The new vet, no idea what his name is. Everything is still in Dr. Thomas's name, on the door, the paperwork, the brochures in the office. The staff is so confused. I heard a client being told, she was pretty sure the medication was the same. Didn't even confirm about the dose. Scary. They couldn't tell me when or what company would be cremating my pet. The had no info. They did say that they would call me later in the day with the info. 2 days later I returned to get the info, since no one had called me. I was told that they didn't need to give that to me. They finally showed me a bag, with the name of the company when I informed them they indeed did have to tell me. I then called the company to find out when my pet would be picked up, and to make sure my cat was actually the cat that would be returned to me. No confidence that pet headquarters would handle this properly. The company was wonderful. Even delivered my pet to me today, because I didn't want him to go back to Pet Headquarters. I can't even tell you how horrible it was to have my animal put down here. Absolutely, no respect given to me, or my animal. I told the vet I wanted to be with my animal when he passed. Just rubbing his head, so he would know I was there with him. After they had the IV in, they didn't even tell me as they gave him the shot. Then they just left the room. Not even an, I'm sorry. They didn't even tell me they were going to give him the medication. Just administered the fatal dose. read more

I am beyond thrilled that Dr Sam Thomas is back full-time at PET headquarters veterinarian clinic. Dr. Thomas has been my Vet for over two decades. He is honest, direct and fair- he will provide the best treatment for your pets . He is not a veterinarian that will prolong your pets life for the benefit of his pocket. If you're looking for an exceptional honest veterinarian- you need to look no further. read more

All of Dr. Thomas's staff are gone now except Gus. The new receptionists are clearly overwhelmed, which I guess is to be expected for a new business, and they can't answer any questions about drug prices or animal care and refer everything to Dr. Raj. One girl admitted to me that she knows nothing about animal care and complained that she was very hungry at 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon as she was working up my bill after misplacing my chart for 20 minutes. Did she want me to say, "So sorry to keep you from your lunch"? The wait time is ridiculous, even just to pay the bill and even when there is no one else around. They answer phone calls and walk in back even if you arrive in their lobby before the calls come in. The walk-in hours on Saturday are for those who want to wait at least one hour to be seen. I am sure Dr. Raj is a nice man, but I don't think he is a very experienced vet based on my limited interactions with him. The doctor decides the charges for the day and also decides what you will pay for the medication. There is no reference chart that they can use because "Dr. Thomas got charged different prices for medication than Dr. Raj gets charged." They ended up overcharging me on two separate occasions. The prices for the medications that were given to me were at least three times higher than what I could get online. The wait time for Dr. Thomas used to be frustrating as well, but at least he didn't overcharge me for medications and procedures, which kept me coming back. When Dr. Thomas was about to retire, he told me that he told Dr. Raj, "Don't raise the prices I have set. You will make an excellent living, but if you raise my prices and start requesting all sorts of unnecessary tests, you will lose half my client base." Well, sorry, Dr. Thomas, he does charge more than you did, and I think he is losing at least some of your clients. Chances are good that he will still do well, judging by the huge amount of clients that showed up last Saturday for his walk-in hours, but I intend to go somewhere else because I have absolutely no confidence in his abilities, and I can't afford to pay ridiculously high prices for pet medication. read more

If I could give it no stars I would. Doctor Thomas is no longer there. Had terrible experience with the new owners. Would never go back. Or recommend it to anyone. Don't be fooled. Taking my dogs to doctor Thomas for over 15 years. Was never notified of the change. They left up a big thank-you poster from the K-9 Organization for Dr Thomas. The new owners had nothing to do with it. Very deceptive very deceptive. Watch out for the increase in prices. read more

Unfortunately Dr. Thomas sold and no longer owns this business and after one visit with the NEW owner we will NEVER go back and I highly recommend taking your pets elsewhere. The vet and his new staff have TERRIBLE communication, they are all very unprofessional and the Dr. didn't bother explaining anything he was doing while with our pet which leads me to believe he didn't even know what he was doing. This used to be a wonderful place and now it is just awful! If you've been coming here for years and loved Dr. Thomas please find another vet or you will be highly disappointed!! read more

This place is the biggest bunch of lying over charging scam artists around. Apparently my dog had parvo. 2500 for me to hold her down in my car while a vet tech did a parvo test. 24 hr care my ass. They leave at 5 at night and maybe someone will show up around 930. The vets not till 1030 11. My dog was kept in a damn broom closet. She had an IV to her paw. The last day she was there I was worried sick and was waiting in my car by six am to check on her. No one showed till about ten. I was the first person in there and her IV machine was beeping. Someone had knocked or something the night before and it wasn't distributing her her meds. So for 14 hrs she was not administered anything yet the vet came in after 11 am. Sat there told me she's doing good how they took her for a walk this morning. BS. I had been there for five hours no noone had done shit. I was there to take her home and at least let here die in peace. Magically she decided to eat for the first time in five days. She lived and is doing fine now. But they tried to charge me another six hundred for an X-ray. When I said no I was told she'd be ready for pick up in half hour they just needed to take her catheter out. Which is itemized on my bill, she never had a catheter. The lying pieces of ....z they don't care about your animal they only care about your money they know most pet owners will do anything for their animal and they pray on that read more

OMG what a great place. The gals at the front desk are friendly and professional. After seeing all the reviews on Yelp decided to try for myself since getting a new rescue pup. I am so glad I did. Dr Thomas is wonderful. So warm and loving with my little guy. I wanted to just establish my guy with a new vet, just kind of a meet and greet with the doctor. He checked him over, gave me some needed advice and sent me on my way...did not charge me one cent!...How often does that happen?! I feel comfortable that this office will be a good match for myself and my dog, and altho I hope I do not have the need to see a vet very often, you can bet it will be Dr Thomas. read more

I came here after my vet, as well as all of the other emergency vets in my area, were booked solid. The staff was able to squeeze me in within an hour for a sick kitty who was not doing well. More of an ER than an actual vet. Useful in emergency situations for getting a last minute appointment. Will take 1-2 hours longer than they say and charge an arm and a leg for it. Not organized or well managed. Front desk and vet techs are nice, but it seems like the vet and other staff don't communicate so information conveyed to patient is inaccurate or uninformative. Even after paying my bill, it felt like my pet was being held hostage or they were lying about when/if the treatments I had paid for had been given despite being my pet being there for almost 12 hours. Wouldn't recommend. read more

VERY UNHAPPY with the "care" provided for my pets here. the staff is very friendly, but i'm sorry they do not know what the hell they're doing. i took in my two completely healthy cats ONLY to get updated vaccines and they come out with this huge bill saying they need all of this stuff and treatments, and that one of my cats has an ear infection, when both of them were COMPLETELY FINE before i brought them in with no symptoms of anything. the vet had to do an "ear flush" which no one told me what the procedure was or what to expect after or anything, i was left clueless. NOT TO MENTION THEY GAVE A SHOT TO THE WRONG CAT, which caused her blood sugar to skyrocket. after i took my cat home she was completely disoriented, cant walk straight, complete hearing loss and struggled to eat or drink anything for a week. its been almost 3 weeks and she still cant walk straight, or do anything she is depressed and it is so sad to see her like this. and she has developed eye conjunctivitis too. both of my cats were healthy before i took them to this place. I don't know how unsanitary the back rooms of that vet is but it must be horrendous. i also dont know how much they're struggling to be able to jeopardize the pets of many people just so they can get more money but its disgusting. i had to take my cat to another vet because of the condition she's in and spend more money i do not have because of this. read more

Can I do negative stars. Took my cat there as emergency cause nowhere else had openings Saturday night emergency vets weren't taking in. She wasn't eating or drinking and throwing up. We said she was also very tender on side. The vet was very rough with her and man handled her around like a doll. He ran blood work said it was her liver and to give her these meds. Total was $500 he also said they gave her fluids which they never did cause you can smell on their fur when they've gotten them and she didn't. One of the medication he gave her tastes like vomit and another had to be taken with food how she wasn't eating. Few days later got her into her normal CAT ONLY vet and she was pissed. Her liver numbers we only two numbers above normal. She doesn't worry till over 300 said they were bit higher cause she's not eating. Felt her side and she was bit backed up and had lots of gas. We walked away from that appointment with new meds for less that what this guy charged us. He never gave her fluids and she would have never taken the meds from him cause they cause stomach aches and taste terrible. These guys don't care about your animals well being or heath at all stay away and go to cat only vet office. Thankful I have insurance but that doesn't cover $250 from them I won't get back read more

I have never been treated so poorly by a doctor, vet anything than I was with this Vet. I have been stewing all day not sure what to say but feel like I have to write something because it was the worst experience with my dog. He insulted me. He insulted my dog. He was yelling at his vet tech and my dog was terrorized. I left in tears. I had asked him to trim her nails. They handled her so hard that she shot out her anal glands and peed a little on the table. She's 8 lbs. When he was done, he wiped it up with a paper towel and threw the paper towel and nail clippers sideways against the table so they ricocheted off the wall and walked out. No goodbye. No see you soon. Just left. I had to ask the vet tech if we were done and he had to go out and check. Let me just say Dr., IM DONE! I can't believe what happened today. I think about a pediatrician and how they treat the children. Can you imagine if a pediatrician acted this way towards a frightened child? If you don't like your job, maybe you should retire. I'm completely in shock that he has good reviews. Maybe because it's cheap. But you get what you pay for. I'm mortified. read more

Dr. Thomas has been our vet for the last 6 years and we cannot express how thankful we are to have him as our vet. 6yrs ago, our beautiful American Staffordshire Terrier girl (Naynay) started limping and we were told by our vet at the time that she needed to have a $5000 knee surgery. Not only did she need this extremely expensive surgery, her quality of life was not guaranteed to be any better than 60% post recovery. Since she did not seem to be in pain, we took her to get a second opinion at another vet clinic, told them what the previous vet told usm and they said they agreed and she needed surgery. We were terribly upset with the potential of her not recovering to 90-100% post surgery (she was only 4yrs old) so we decided to get a third opinion. This was when we found Dr. Thomas' clinic. He looked at her and told us we simply needed to give her an anti-inflammatory and she's be good a new. Surprised at the simple solution, and a little hesistant that this would actually work, we followed Dr. Thomas' recommendation and within a day, she wasn't limping at all and was back to her full vibrant self! Dr. Thomas continued to care for her through a cancer diagnosis, all the way until it was time to let her rest completely (July of 2018). When it was her time go he even waited for me to drive from Mid Wilshire to Camarillo see her one last time (thank you so much for that!). He was VERY accommodating in her final hours - and that we are truly indebted and will bring all of our dogs to him as long he is in business (we make the trip from the eastern San Fernando Valley to Camarillo because he's the best!). His wife was so kind to us and our loss as well. She made us a keepsake of her paw print to remember her by. Thank you again for taking care of our girl, and being the superstar Provider for our 12yr old boy dog and the new little guy we added to the family! read more

What a disappointment. After reading the reviews on Yelp for Dr Thomas and receiving personal recommendations from people in town, I was pretty excited to meet the vet for my new puppy. Let me just say I NEVER want to go back after how I was treated. Dr. Thomas saw my dog for maybe five minutes. Didn't take his temperature or anything. But instead spent that time insulting my boyfriend and I. First it was our choice of breed. We have the sweetest blue nose Pitt and the Dr pantomime slapped me across the face when I said their bad rep is due to bad owners. Oh no he said my dog is a killer and I can't change that. Then he insults our age, we are too young to know what we want or what we are doing. Then he just assumes I am not college educated (I am by the way but I have one more year to go) and tells me that I will never make it in this community without a degree This man knows nothing about me or my family. And instead of doing his job, which is making sure my puppy is healthy, he chose to give us bullshit life lessons. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED! read more

Pros: inexpensive Cons: can't think of any Took my cat to Vet in Thousand Oaks: Brought my cat in for throwing up, going the "cheap way" was a $220 bill because they charged me for the visit, the shot they gave, AND TO ADMINISTER the shot, and it still didn't work. Brought him in again, and after more shots and X-rays, he was still throwing up and I got a $320 bill. Took him to Pet Headquarters in Camarillo, Dr. Thomas looked at him and said it was a hair ball issue. Walked out of there for $13.03. Seriously?!? What a waste of time and money. I should have brought him into Dr. T from the beginning!!! read more

Dr. Thomas is the best vet in Camarillo and surrounding areas. He has very fair prices and is always honest. They have walk ins on Saturday morning from 9-12pm and is always busy, but Dr. Thomas and his team sill provide excellent service even with high volumes of clients. I changed vets after traveling to Thousand Oaks for vet check ups and high fees. I once met an individual who drove down from Van Nuys on a Saturday morning for a walk in appointment because they trust Dr. Thomas with their dog that much. I will always trust Dr. Thomas and would recommend to anyone who is unsure where to take their pet. read more

Please do not take your cat or dog here in an emergency. We were referred here by our usual vet when they couldn't see our cat in an emergency situation. Our cat ate a big piece of ribbon, we called ahead of time to let them know the situation and they said they would see her immediately since it was time sensitive. You have to induce vomiting while it's still in the stomach to prevent further complications and obstructions in the digestive system. We drive all the way there, fill out paperwork and they take her in the back. After waiting 20 min they come out and say they actually don't have the injection to induce vomiting so we have to take her somewhere else. And on top of wasting an hour of precious time between the phone consultation, driving time and time spent in their waiting area, we find out they had given her hydrogen peroxide, which is ok for dogs but NOT ok for cats. Their incompetence has put our cat in risk of surgery and further life threatening complications. They are an absolute joke and should not be in business. read more

Dr I mean Vet Thomas was very rude. My animal was in obvious pain & he was making jokes & laughing while it was obvious I didn't want make jokes and only wanted to talk about the well being of my animal. Dr. Thomas is really nice and knowledgeable. My cat broke both of his hind legs and I went to 3 different vets in the area. The cost of getting him fixed up was the price of a good used car. Last resort I put up and ad on Craigslist and a lady answered me, saying the same thing happened to her cat and that she went to Dr. Thomas. I brought Miles to him and the prices I had been quoted. He outright laughed at the high charges. He fixed up Miles, pins, casts and meds, for a quarter of what the other vets quoted. The other vets make me sick. They'd rather me have my cat put down than lower their prices. Thank you so much Dr. Thomas! read more
