Dr. Battier was good but Dr. Garcia is condescending and cold. She used fear to talk me into additional costly tests that didn't address my original concerns and turned out to be unnecessary. She is incompetent and does not instill confidence in her abilities. I changed vets because of her. read more

I wish I had done more research before taking our pets here. A number of reviews note that since Dr Battier stopped practicing things have changed. I don't know how they were but I can tell you how they are now. I've had to chase them numerous times to get paperwork sent to me. They missed vaccinations on our new puppy which if I hadn't caught would have breached our rescue contract. And last, the doctor has the worse bedside manner. It's a shame because the people up front are warm and welcoming. We've moved on now to a new vet and couldn't be happier. Hopefully Dr Battier sees this and gets involved in their namesake. read more

I took my dog in. Although he can be a bit hyper I don't think it's ok to call my dog bad. When they took him back I heard one of the ladies say bad dog, very unprofessional and considering it is a VETERINARY clinch they should be use to dogs! I was suppose to see Dr. Battier but instead some older Dr comes in and she was old and I don't know if she knew was she was doing. I called to speak to someone about what happened and I got no apology, no I'm sorry let me see what we can do to fix this. Very disappointed in this office read more

My cat had been with Dr. Battier for about 12 years, with good results and personal attention. Unfortunately, about 60 days ago she got a UTI which proved fatal. During this time, I was steered to other people in the office that I did know nor trust, even when I demanded to see or speak with Dr. Battier personally 5 times, I was refused. "The doctor is with a client" I was told repeatedly. On the final visit, with my cat near death, my demand for Battier's presence was again refused, at which point I walked back to her office. I'll be choosing my words carefully. What I saw, in my opinion seemed to not an operational Vet Clinic, but a bad play about semi-woke 1st year community college students covering the boss's "Weekend At Bernies" lifestyle. My opinion. Oh, and the staff somehow forgot to prescribe pain medication, so I had to watch my cat die miserably over the next 2 weeks. There are so many questions here...Did I wait too long?.. Was just my cat's time to go?.. Why didn't I take her somewhere else? .. If I would have just marched into Battier's office the first time?... These things I will never know, but I do know this. Dr. Battier, I have called you 5 times for an explanation, and you have not responded, and that says it all in my book. In closing, I am not a fan of Dr. Battier, although many of you are. I recommend you choose more wisely than I did. read more

I was going to take my pups here. I have 5 dogs...that's a lot of business to a clinic. I was turned off by two reviews- one with the cat resulting to death and another pup and antibiotic questions. It says a lot when those reviews are not addressed by the clinic but ignored here. To the staff of this clinic... your vet/doctor is only as good as the staff. If the staff is not good (which is the case with these :2 reviews), it doesn't matter that your vet is good. I hope you vet gets to see these reviews. read more

Rating this 3 stars because I do appreciate Dr Battier and the vet techs that have helped me and my pup, but there was a receptionist (one of the older lady's) that treated me very poorly over the phone. Her tone was very harsh for most of the conversation. I had called to get instructions on antibiotics since it was my first time ever having to administer them to my dog and her response was condescending. She said "they're antibiotics..." when I asked how long I am supposed to give them to my dog. She even laughed in awe as if this is common knowledge to people not in the medical field? When you're taking your dog to the vet due to illness, the last thing you need is rude staff adding onto the emotional stress of it all. On another note, I notice some of their techs could use more confidence in handling large animals. I did appreciate their short wait times though. I decided to go to a different vet after this and the staff is ALL very polite and helpful over there! read more

My dog never walked again after leaving Dr. Battiers office. My dog arrived walking and never walked again after. Mia, my ten year old pitbull went to see Dr. Battier after she appeared to have pain in her neck and pain while walking, however, Mia was still able to walk. Dr. Battier recommended that Mia have an X-ray later that day and we would be able to see more moving forward. I SHOULD HAVE NEVER BROUGHT MY DOG TO DR. BATTIER. Mia never walked again after Dr. Battier manipulated her neck during the X-ray. Dr. battier never mentioned that Mia had the risk of never walking again. When I tried to speak to Dr. Battier regarding this, she was BEYOND RUDE and lacked total empathy. I know Vet school was more than 30 years ago for you but you should brush up on your empathy course. How ironic, that I took my dog to the vet to get better, but Dr. Battier only made my dog worse. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE. read more

I was very impressed with all the staff as they were all very polite when I spoke to them on the phone. Every one was also very respectful, kind & considerate Everything is done in your car in the parking lot i' met the doctor she came out to the car and explained everything about my dog to me. Even knelt down & landed up having to sit on the grass as we chatted a while. I would definitely come back Oh if you're over 65 they give you a 10% discount which is always nice. This is an awesome veterinarian clinic. I found them through a friend and I'm glad I did. I adopted a Chihuahua /Shih Tsu 18 month old dog during the Clear The Shelter event at the Camarillo Animal Shelter and she had kennel cough that I was able to detect immediately (shame on them for not treating her for it and/or giving her to me with medication.) Instead I ran her to Dr. Battier's Clinic the next day where Dr. Garcia found her weight down to 5lbs 6ounces and in need of urgent care food, IV hydration and antibiotics. The hydration was prescribed daily and they were kind enough to help me do it every day. They did everything they could to manage the bill for me to afford the visit and still do everything possible for my dog, Angel. I'm telling all of this to explain how the staff reacted to my dog's and my needs. They were extremely kind and sympathetic towards Angel and me and continue to be every time I have an appointment. The office is sparkling clean, the employees were so professional and helpful and the Drs. are incredibly sweet to my dog and me and so knowledgeable. I trust them completely with the health of my little Angel. I highly recommend Dr. Battier's Clinic, Dr. Battier and Dr. Garcia. Everyone at the Clinic is committed to giving your animal the best care available. They also take care of the animal's owner! read more

We are new to the area and needed to find a new vet for our 11-year old cat. He doesn't like going to the vet at all - we've had bad experiences. The check-in process was easy and the vet assistants were very kind and empathetic. Dr. Battier came out to the car to deliver updates and explain what she was going to do next. As this was a preventive visit, our cat did well receiving a vaccine and even let Dr. Battier check his weight and clean tartar off his teeth. With very few "cat whisperers" available in Camarillo, I recommend Dr. Battier for cat fur parents to consider for their fur baby! read more

Our kitties have been patients of Dr. B's clinic for 14 or 15 years now. Dr. B and her staff are truly the most kind and compassionate group. Prior to finding her clinic one of our young cats was getting sicker and sicker and other vets pretty much told us that it was what it was. He would die. I just didn't think that we had to accept that. So I took him into Dr. B. She did a few tests and physical examination. Wow, she found (which no other doctor found) he had chylothorax disease and a collapsed lung. After suggesting we give our kitty (Woodstock) an over the counter herb Rutin along with many lung taps (draining of the chest cavity). He ended up living another 5 years. We still take our remaining 2 cats to her clinic and I would recommend Dr. Battier to anyone looking for an experienced and knowledgeable veterinarian. read more

Went in last Saturday (a little before they opened) without an appointment as my beautiful Pom was having seizures. Though they didn't have a doctor on duty that day, the two ladies working were very kind and helpful as I was out of my mind worried and crying. One quickly helped me with my second dog while the other hopped on the phone to find somewhere local that could see my Queen quickly. They found somewhere else, helped me get both dogs back in the car and sent me off. I am very thankful for their help and care. This review us very difficult to write. My beloved Shepherd, Argus (Argy!), required euthanasia literally overnight. From apparently very healthy, to badly failing the next morning. An undiagnosed tumor on her spleen had ruptured, I'll skip the trauma and heartbreak. As anyone who's owned a Shepherd will attest, she was my constant companion and a full member of the Family, not a mere pet. The level of compassion shown by every member of the (all female) staff is impossible to explain in words. I felt surrounded by care, empathy and understanding that softened my grief. A few days later, I received a condolence card signed by the entire staff with genuine and personal messages. Do you suppose I'm interested in seeing any other Vet, ever? This isn't a request for business sent their way, it's simply a testament to these beautiful, compassionate and caring Angels, who gently transitioned my sweet baby. read more

The whole staff was amazing! We sadly had to put our dog down, but the staff was compassionate, patient and wonderful. Dr. Garcia took the time to call local overnight hospitals, talk to other internal specialists and communicate during the entirety of our dog's last hours. Pippa and I enjoyed our first experience here. We were referred by a friend , my other Vet is partially retired and we just can't get in when it's convenient for me. I have been planning this for months so timing was important to me to get my new puppy seen. I have been dog less for 6 years. Pippa is 7 1/2 weeks we were put in a room right away. The office was very clean. Dr B was very nice and spoke in language I understood. They also have a discounted puppy program package. That really made things right for me . We received complementary food, advantage and a special file folder with a bunch of information on your puppy, this will help me keep all my important papers organized for Pippa. After labs came back I spoke directly with both veterinarians from this office. My questions and concerns were answered. We are very happy with our new team for our special girl. We also have two Spynx cats, 3 African spurred Desert tortoises, and some chickens. read more

Dr. Battier's entire team is fabulous! From scheduled appointments to the time my dog had an eye injury, they have taken excellent care of my dog! My dog is a little rambunctious when he smells cats and also has a collapsed trachea, but the team take their time with him and I feel safe with leaving him, if need be. I appreciate the honesty of the team and the timeliness of appointments. I moved away from Camarillo but just haven't found the same treatment at another hospital so we will continue coming here! read more

I love Doctor Battier and her staff.. I have a few animals, we will just leave it at that.. :) She is very personable and takes time to listen. I have never felt rushed or felt as if Unnecessary services were being pushed on me. Koda our Shepard mix was having some difficulty. She is getting older and was just overall feeling low.. It turned out that she needed to go the hospital. She had/still has some. Issues with her lungs (Weird Siberian Husky thing) I was thinking it wasn't going to end well. Long story short, we were able to bring her home and Dr. Battier is here to help us manage her aftercare until the end.. it's comforting to know the doctor is just down the street. If you have met Dr. Battier, you know she has a beautiful accent and I just love listening to her talk to my cat, Aladdin. Aladdin is a Himalayan. He tends to get itchy at different times of year. I love that the Dr. B knows just what he needs to be comfortable and doesn't rush to do this test and that test.. I have recommend her to many people. It's really cool when the feedback comes back that they value her as much as I do. We love the new upgrades to the office and it's conveniently located. read more

2018 UPDATE: Note that my original review is specifically for Dr. Battier and not for any other vets on the staff, whom I've had less than stellar experiences with. ******* Bring your pet here and expect to be treated like FAMILY. We've been taking our lab/pittie mix, Maggie, to Dr. Battier's office for over 7 years now. We come here A LOT --- not only for annual exams and the occasional boo-boo, but also every month. Long story short, Maggie has abnormal anal glands and must get them expressed (aka squeezed) regularly every few weeks. Dr. Battier has a comforting bedside manner, which is definitely appreciated when you're in a place that your dog clearly does not want to be at. Pets can sense the energy in a room, and Dr. Battier's calmness always sets Maggie at ease. You feel like a top priority during each visit. Ask all the questions necessary because she takes her time to cover everything during your appointment. If there is one minor suggestion for improvement, I wish they would move to digital records. All the notes here are handwritten. And when you have a dog that's been coming for years, the file becomes super thick and a bit inefficient to flip through when evaluating history. The staff here is WONDERFUL. I have noticed some turnover throughout the years, which is a bummer since we've gotten to know some of the techs very well. That said, each time there is a new staff member, they are just as caring and friendly. There are park benches inside the waiting area and also one outside the front door, so plenty of seating! Unfortunately, Maggie is not dog-friendly --- if there is another dog around, the staff always accommodates our situation and either brings Maggie in through a side door, or signals us that the coast is clear when the other dog has been brought in to a patient room. Good to know = Plenty of grass areas for your pet to do its business beforehand or afterwards! Location is on Las Posas Rd, nearby the Police Department. My family and I own up to 10 dogs and 3 cats, along with a menagerie of other soulful animals. Our beautiful angels are certified in therapeutic services, they serve/ed in Special Olympics and within our own therapeutic business. Compassion and Sympathy: Through these years with Dr.Battier, we have been blessed to own dogs and cats old in age, whom crossed over the "Rainbow Bridge." Every time, we have left the staff, along with Dr. B, we are all crying. No words, just incredible sympathy from one spirit to another. Their compassion is extraordinarily immense. Integrity: We have also needed surgeries, dental, vaccinations and a multitude of other medical treatments. Always conducted with utmost respect and integrity. Always providing ease to their service options, while providing high standard care. Team work and Patience: Each time we've entered her office, I am so impressed by her teams immediate response and consideration of our beloved animals. There are times we maybe bringing in 3-4 puppies. The staff is so patient! As most may think it's part of their job to be patient, I can't tell you how many times I've been with friends who receive vet care elsewhere and have I've seen the lack of patience their pet endures. Not always part of the job, but it is with Dr. B and her team. Love: The most important part of being a part of Dr. Battier's Veterinary services is that all my animals love this office! Even my cats! And cats can be crazy. Mine roam around the room and feel comfortable. What a wonderful feeling our family receives when we experience our pets relaxed behavior. I also have a pit mix who is hyper - and she has learned to become calm in the office~ truly Awesome. Gratitude: I have so many wonderful stories about each of our animals in meeting with Dr.Battier. Some stories great and some sad, however the personnel are always compassionate about our animals care. I need to also mention Dr. Battier is quite informative. She seeks alternatives if needed and if unable to find the answer she will continue to seek it out to no end. Her conservative professional loving approach is unique. Obviously, we have trusted her through these pleasurable years and we have not encountered one negative experience, nor have I questioned the approach implemented. I recently took my 17 yr old Kitty to another local Vet who I think was trying to make money by suggesting surgery among other things. My kitty declined quickly and wasn't able to stand. She had a large tumor. She was like my child. I knew she was going to need to be put down and I was borderline hysterical in tears. After my last Vet experience I asked around and had a friend refer me to Dr. Battier. I was skeptical from so many bad vet experiences. On the phone, the woman I spoke with was so nice and helpful. When I came in, they knew who i was immediately, I was already in tears. I got a room immediately. She asked me the questions and I told her the answers. She filled the forms out for me. The Vet was very nice & compassionate. I explained what was happening. I wanted to be certain that putting her down was the best option. She showed me why she suspected it was cancer and showed me where the tumor was spreading under the skin. She suspected renal failure. She made me feel good about my decision. My cat got fleas and I tried everything to prevent from going to my regular vet. I needed to be seen ASAP to prevent the fleas from getting worse. I called at 8:30 am and was able to get an appointment at 10:30 am on the same day. I arrived and was greeted as soon as I walked through the door. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. I was in and out the door within 40 minutes. They also gave me a military discount! So happy with this clinic. This will be my new regular vet! I highly highly highly recommend this place. I typically I just let bad experiences with businesses roll off my back but this particular experience demands an honest evaluation. While it isn't Dr Battier's fault by her own actions the office has chosen to contract services with another provider that has proven himself to be unreliable. Twice now I had an appointment for my pet to have an echocardiogram. The first appointment was a drop off appointment. In order for me to get my pet to this appointment I had to take the day off from work due to the timeframes and my commute distance. (My problem not theirs) I was willing to do this because my pet is extremely important to me and I take her health as serious as I do my own. Three hours after I dropped my pet off at Dr Battier's office I was called and informed I should pick up my pet and that the services were not provided due to an unforeseen emergency on the part of the Dr that was contracted to perform the echocardiogram. I picked my pet up right away and took her straight home. She was panting the entire time and went directly to her water bowl and drank an excessive amount of water and of course proceeded to vomit. It was obvious she was denied water while she was waiting at the vets office. I was a bit put off by this but wrote it off because ultimately my pet was fine. A few days later Dr Battier's office contacted me to reschedule the appointment. I explained that I originally had to take the day off from work in order to make the first appointment and wouldn't be able to do that again at the moment. I explained what days I currently had scheduled off and Dr Battier's office spoke with the contractor who in turn agreed to make a special visit to Dr Battier's exclusively to conduct the echocardiogram for my pet that fit within my scheduled day off. I picked the day and he (the Dr) picked the time most convenient for him. Dr Battier's office confirmed the appointment with me a day or two prior to the appointment where I made it abundantly clear that this was not another "drop off" appointment and that I intended to wait while the test was performed. I showed up to the appointment 15 minutes ahead of time out of respect to the Dr to ensure we were on time and all checked in and ready for our appointment. I was instructed that they would call me in a few hours when the test was complete. WHAT????? I again explained that I would be waiting. The front office then contacted the Dr they contracted with and was informed he wasn't going to be there at 1 o'clock for our 1 o'clock appointment but he would get there once he was done with his current appointment and appointments at another clinic. Obviously the Dr that Dr Battier's office uses for these tests is unreliable and unfortunately this reflects poorly on Dr Battier's practice. Regretfully we will be looking for another vet that can provide services in house or contracts with service providers that respect their clients time as much as they do their own. read more

Clara, my 14-year-old Maltese, became so sick she could not even stand, I thought she was going to die. One month prior, I had received an email from my veterinarian saying he was retiring. I was desperate to find a vet. So, I started to ask friends and looking up vets on the Internet. I had called many vets in the area, but due to Covid-19 either they weren't open or didn't have any immediate opening. I was in utter despair and at this point Clara had stopped eating and drinking. I kept calling vet offices and getting the same results, it was getting very discouraging. I called Dr. Battier's clinic and told them about my situation and their answer was to bring her immediately. For the next two months, Dr. Battier and her staff made a real effort to help Clara get well again. After daily visits for hydration and taking many of my calls, Clara started to improve and slowly recovering. Besides being an excellent veterinarian, Dr. Battier is very caring and compassionate!! I started coming to Dr. Battier's clinic after being referred from my sister and I'm so glad I did - Dr. Battier is an awesome veterinarian, very patient, kind, and understanding. She is sensitive to my pet's high-strung and timid nature and is always attentive to my concerns - explaining procedures and treatments thoroughly and succinctly, and is always able to answer my questions. Another thing about Doc Battier I really appreciate is her conservative approach to treating my cat. I never feel like she does tests or recommends anything unnecessarily, and have never had a reason to question her expertise. The support staff is awesome as well - the office manager, front office staff, and technicians are understanding, compassionate, and accommodating. Even though I recently moved to Thousand Oaks I still go to Dr. Battier for all of my cat's primary veterinarian needs...she's truly exceptional. read more
