Me lady and I decided to get some lunch and stop at this place. This service was great very nice people and the restaurant was clean nice spot to go get some lunch. I ordered the seafood paella unfortunately which I a of my couple of my seafoods were substituted with look alikes. Unfortunately they don't taste like the real deal. The rice was good and me lady liked hers also I don't that those were their best dishes. We will look at their menu again and order something different. I will say if you looking for a quick lunch where you'll probably have leftovers if you order a rice dish that is the spot I don't know the lady's name that served us but she was very very nice. read more

We went for Wednesday Ladies' Night and had the best time with the girls. The food was really tasty, we had Peruvian beer. The cocktails were just okay, but [[HIGHLIGHT]]the real highlight was the vibe, great music and a super fun host who kept the party going all night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was a little slow, but the place was packed, so it's understandable. A little dissapointing -- this restaurant has always been a favorite for lunch. Very nice lunch specials - the food was consistently good and very tasty and good lunch prices. Well, they got a new menu, prices went up 3.00 for lunch specials, which would have been fine if they gave you the same amount of food with the same Great taste. They fell short on both - the Aji de Gallina was the quarter of the size that they once offered and had absolutely no taste. Not sure how soon we will go back . The service- server spoke no English. We've been coming here for years, back when they were located on Beneva and Clark. Unfortunately, they have fallen off quite a bit. The high point of the meal were the house wines. Very generous pours at $6 a glass . I really liked the Ribena Sur Merlot. Smooth fruity, very pleasant. My wife got a Pinot Grigio. I got the grilled Corvina my wife got the grilled chicken with Shrimp. Both were too salty for our tastes but we use very little salt at home. The chicken was over cooked, but the Chimchurri sauce was nice. The corvina was perfectly cooked, it is a bland fish and it relies on the sauce for flavor. Service was very fast. My family & friends have been coming to this as well as their old location for many years and have Always enjoyed it. The last 3 times we have Not. The prices 'keep' rising. The shrimp skewers have changed drastically, now the shrimp are small and dry..nothing at all like the perfectly grilled, flavorful & juicy shrimp that we were always served. We gave it 2 extra visits hoping it was an off night, unfortunately there was 0 improvement in our next visits. Not sure if we will return. In April 2021, my wife and I ate at their old restaurant location. We just ate in the new place and here's my review from the last time because we ordered the exact same thing by sheer coincidence. BTW, the new place is much roomier and comfortable. I had the dish that had fried, breaded fish with seafood on top in a cream sauce.  I almost cried it was so good.  The fish was fried wonderfully and even though it was covered in the cream sauce and seafood, the breading held up well.  The seafood was cooked perfectly and the sides of rice and yucca was perfect to sop up the sauce. My wife went the healthier route and had the grilled corvina.  Once again, this meal was cooked perfectly.  The corvina was grilled just right and the chimichurri was the right topping.  The fried plaintain was also delicious. Their food is absolutely delicious.  If you want a great meal, you should eat here!! read more

First time eating Peruvian food and OMG!!! literally have no words to describe how AMAZING everything was! I am Hungarian so i really do appreciate a nice home-cooked meal with lots of spices and this restaurant's food was definitely that and even more. The flavors of both dishes we had was phenomenal, So creamy and flavorful! Wish i could describe how amazing the taste and flavors were because the pictures doesn't do its justice but i can't so all i can say is, GO TRY IT OUT! You won't be disappointed. First time here. Loved it from beginning to end. Paella, corvina two ways all delicious! Appetizers was amazing. Chocolate cake which is made at home by the owner is out of this world! This is another classic Gulf Gate offering. Immigrants who reinterpret their home food as best they can here. Delicious and authentic food that is served by delightful staff. Loved the authentic variety of offerings. Overall review is positive; discuss sodium levels with the wait staff and and I would cut it by half. I can add more but cannot take it out. Everything was much too salty. Otherwise a real winner! Had the mixed ceviche (med) and thought it could use more cilantro, personally. Corvina in Chimichurra and a chicken breast with Chimichurra and fries, green plantain, fried yucca, grilled shrimp....well, it goes on but we quit there, but not before I got some Lacuna ice cream! My wife and I drive by this place a lot since they have moved to Clark Rd, so we finally decided to stop in and try it. We were delighted at the quality of the food. The grilled chicken and shrimp were truly wonderful. Served with plantains, rice, salad, etc. I was very happy. My wife is Peruvian so she knows what good Peruvian food tastes like. The food here was terrible and my wife did not like the food at all!! Please beware the slippery service charge. We spent almost $200 for 4 people as we did not notice the slippery service charge. There are other Peruvian restaurants in the area. My suggestion is to try them instead. read more
