Although this building recently switched locations, I've been seeing a therapist apart of this staff for almost 5 years. She's watched me grow from an angsty teen, to a slightly less angsty young adult, as well as grow in height. She's helped me with many tough life situations including my anxiety and depression, to very small day to day situations where I had trouble making decisions. I was never judged or made fun of, and she always kept a professional attitude, while also giving me the hard facts that I need to hear. She recently moved to private practice, so I will be meeting with a new therapist soon within this staff. I plan to stay here because of the kind treatment, and accommodating appointment times. That 1 star review seems to be an anomaly because every person (and dog) I've encountered at Perspectives Therapy has been nothing but amazing to me. read more

I have been going to perspectives therapy now for 5 years. I was matched with Susan Burton and I feel she was the perfect match for me. I am an adult dealing with childhood trauma, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts and issues with agoraphobia. Susan has been a wonderful help to me in this process. Her personality just meshes so well with the kind of person I can work with on these issues. She is thoughtful, helpful and when i need she finds a way to bring humor into our sessions. Susan also helps treat two of my children who seek assistance in having ASD and ADHD. She is an absolute delight to them and they just adore her. I have been to many therapist through my life and none have ever stuck. I very much feel like in respects to this line of work you need to find the right fit. I was referred to the Highland office, and matched with one social worker in particular, to seek counseling for my daughter (6 yes old) who had been through a trauma and was suffering severe anxiety and sleep issues. The social worker, Susan, was nice enough, but I didn't feel like any progress was being made after 6 sessions. I was willing to give it more time, as I know children can take much longer to work with. However, due to a severe snow storm my commute from farmington hills to highland took 1.5 hours (instead of the usual 35 min), so we had to miss our appointment that day. I let Susan know we couldn't make it due to traffic, and I received a nasty text back saying that wasn't a good enough excuse to cancel on such short notice and threatened to move our appointment time going forward, because she had "many other patients who still made it to their appointment that evening and our time slot is highly coveted". After I responded that she was being extremely unfair, she admitted that she doesn't make any money if we cancel. I've never encountered someone so unprofessional in the medical field before. It would be great if you start caring about your patients' well being instead of openly telling you patients you need to make money. She ended up making money anyway, since she charged us a $75 cancellation fee! read more
