I have used them before and ordered off of the same computer so I see the same amount of light no matter what I'm ordering but this last time when I submitted my pictures and then when I went to pick them up they were so dark I burst into tears. When I called them, they said they would be happy to reprint them if I wasn't 100% happy. They then asked me to email them photos of the prints which I did and they said they were too dark and to lighten them so I did and then they said they were within their printing range. They said I could bring them in and talk to them. So when I went in, I explained everything and told them I have no way of seeing on my end what you see when they come to you so I approved what is on my screen which I have never had a problem with but this time they were so dark. The l supervisor told me she would reprint the pictures but then had to go in the back to see if there was anything else she needed. When she came back out, she said the manager said no they're not going to reprint them, but they would give me a 15% discount if I want to reprint them lighter. I feel like this is ridiculous because I had already spent a boatload on them and this is something I had no control over based on what I was able to see on my screen. I will not be going back. My guess is that persnickety will try to explain and justify what happened but the bottom line is they're the professionals and if they saw a picture come through on their screen that was really dark and if they know that what I'm seeing is really light based on my screen then why would they just go ahead and print? Why wouldn't they take the time to give me a call? Their logo is "fussy about the small details" but this was a huge one they missed! read more

First time using this company for prints as I was influenced by scrapbooker friend and she raved about them. Gave it a try and used coupon code. Can't stack them FYI. I got alot of 4x6 and 3x4 and a few 8x11. Mostly matte with a few glossy for certain landscape photos. With whichever you chose, they are bound to be great. I did notice one 8x11 had an error which I quickly contacted CS for and they were able to send a replacement quickly too. I will definitely be using their service again for batch of photos! We really wanted to love and support a small business but we selected the option for the passport and ID size photo layout and when we received them they were way smaller and had white boxes around them which made them invalid for passport use. Waste of time and money. Customer service continues to try to tell us we messed up but we literally have pictures of the images while they were in review with no borders and selected the option with no borders. If you read through Google reviews others have had these same problems. We should have trusted the reviews. Should also mention customer service comes across as really arrogant and rude. read more

I was referred to Persnickety Prints by a colleague to get some prints done for my business. I was on a deadline and after I created all my needed items, they thankfully had a 2 day delivery. I ordered on Wednesday expecting to receive it on Friday. I paid an additional $30 to get it fast shipped which I was willing to do. However it didn't come in 2 days but the following Monday. Needless to say I didn't get them in time. When I called Persnickety they refused to refund any amount saying it was FedEx fault. You would think that if you chose to use a company that you would ensure they are delivering as expected. They went on to tell me that actually there is a processing time and then the delivery time. So it really wasn't 2 days but 3 days. So why put 2 days as an option as a delivery time when it really is 3 days? Or at least put 2 days plus processing time. I didn't appreciate that there was no effort on their part to compensate what is to me obviously an error on how they word their delivery options. I've ordered from several other companies, shutterfly, staples, etc and have ALWAYS received when I expected. NO hidden processing times. read more

The ordering process and timeliness of my order was very good. The price for prints was also very reasonable. However, the quality of the prints are pretty crappy. I'm assuming they printed my black & whites via color printer, because they have a rose tint to them. And while the photo paper is fine enough, the size is NOT 12 x 12. It's millimeters larger and they don't fit in my 12 x 12 frames without bubbling. It'll be really difficult to trim them down, too, as paper cutters may bend the print if I try shaving off a few millimeters. Will not use them again for prints. Will have to try to order another set of prints from another company instead, and spend the money twice on a job not well done. read more

This review is just for the online experience from Persnickety Prints. I had heard about Persnickety Prints from various bloggers when they wrote about how they printed out large 12x12 prints for scrapbooking. This year I had committed to digital scrapbooking (through Project Life) in order to save me time and effort so I needed to find a good printing service to print out my pages. I researched the cost of photo books compared to individual prints, as well as the "style" I was going for. I decided in the end that I didn't want multiple photo books for a year's worth of Project Life pages so I opted for individual prints that will later be inserted into page protectors and kept into one large binder. Persnickety Prints offered the lowest price of 12x12 prints, at $1.99 per print. I printed out about 33 images, and while it wasn't cheap (and this was only for the months of January - March), I could not be more happy with the quality of the prints. The prints came in a well-packaged box and none of them were too curled. The colors were vibrant and everything came out so beautifully. I found that the website uploading method to be very simple and quick. Shipping was also incredibly fast. On orders of $39+, use the promo code "priceless" for free US shipping. I ordered on Thursday night and got it delivered on Monday! I will definitely be using this service again and again! read more

I wanted to do something special for our anniversary (paper) and decided to get a bunch of photos made as part of a larger surprise project at my boyfriend's place. Originally I'd planned on going with their retro prints but decided on some slightly bigger 4x4 ones instead. Since the service advertises that orders can be easily placed through your cell phone, I thought it would be a piece of cake to quickly knock out an order with plenty of time before actually needing them... Well that wasn't actually the case, and this is my only con: the usability of the mobile version of this site does need some UX improvements. Trying to upload from Dropbox allows only one photo at a time. After about the 5th, I stopped in frustration.. Then I saw they allowed uploads from a social media platform, such as Instagram. Great! But then after uploading, I realized the photos proofs on screen looked really blurry; poor quality. Worried that it would also look that bad in real life, I ended up creating a photo album on my phone specifically for the photo bundle, and uploaded that. First try: an error message that wouldn't allow me to x out. So then I closed and reopened the site. Then I tried deleting the Instagram album, which it apparently does not do; A pop up box opens the way other album edit options do, but it does not allow for a 'confirm' delete. The second time I tried uploading my new phone's album: PERFECT! By that point, a few days had passed. I can be a bit stubborn.. Now here is why I gave this 4 out of 5 stars: upon placing my order, I mentioned in the notes section that this was for an anniversary gift and that I needed it in hand by a particular day. I also mentioned that I would be happy to pay for any rush shipping. They emailed me within the hour to let me know they'd be starting on it asap. The following afternoon, I received a phone call from the shipping department letting me know it was ready to ship. It turned out that their shipping to Seattle was priory anyway, and since I was a first time customer, it was free. It was scheduled to arrive by the date I requested. You can imagine my surprise then when I received the package a day earlier than expected! When I opened the box up, there was a red "RUSH!" stamp on it and also hand signed thank you note from their customer service. The photos themselves looked even better than anticipated. I was very impressed! The UX issues, though frustrating, can be fixed with time. In the meantime, they do have a customer service chat line that can be called with questions. The fact that they have such awesome staff and a really great product is really what did it for me. Now that I know how to get around the bugs, I will be a repeat customer. As hoped, I had plenty of time to gather the other things I needed to complete the project. The photos of all the things we'd done this past year filled his entire bedroom! Ugh! I wanted to support a different company with my Christmas cards this year. I ordered my Christmas cards through Persnickety Prints and they were printed on the wrong paper. No big deal so I called and spoke with Brian in customer service. What should have been a very simple "I am so so sorry. We will reprint your order and overnight them" turned into a back and forth with Brian's lack of sincerity and professionalism being astonishing. He acted like it was no big deal that my Christmas cards were wrong. He even said "this never happens" - well it happened to me. I then had to email him a picture of my incorrect card and had to call again because I never heard back from him. Whyyyyy do I have to jump through hoops just to get a mistake on their part fixed! I wasn't asking for a refund or even asking for my $5 shipping to be waived. I just wanted my cards printed correctly! Good luck and ask for someone other than Brian in customer service. He didn't even say "I apologize " on the 3rd phone call. They lost my business - I will not be using them in the future. read more

*** Disclaimer *** I'm not just a uber foodie. Photography is another passion in my life. My major was photography and helped photography students at OCC photo lab (OCC is one of the best photo schools in this country). I tested and used various chemicals, films (both color and black&white - especially black&white) and papers. I processed both films and papers in the dark rooms day and night back then. So I do understand photography a lot more than usual. Yelp lets me use my full talents - my love of food, photography, and writing - no wonder my pictures look good ;p *********************** - Locale Destination - They're located in Utah, but I found them on google. Despite of the recent popularity for square format digital photography (by iphone, hipstamatic, instagram etc.), it's hard to find a professional printer that prints square format and does it well. Many photo apps offer the printing options, but they don't always offer the professional grade printing quality (color reproduction and paper quality). One of my photo teachers (his speciality is color and digital photography) has a photo lab (photomation.com) - mostly for commercial, where they are capable of printing even a billboard size. I asked him to print my iphone pictures but he said 3x3 or 4x4 were too small for his printers. It wasn't the first time for the rejection, which is kinda normal. I tried "Hipsta" lab - it was 50/50 shots - some really good, some not. I also tried several professional printers locally before, but it was a pain in the ass (though the prints came out nicely) and I could do only small amounts. But this place makes the printing so easy! All you need to do is to connect to your instagram or upload your files to their site. They keep the files (free) on your account, so you don't need to reload them if you decided to reprint them more. From iphoto (Mac users - I'm not sure PC has it. I'm a Mac user) : 1) Download "Lifepics" (free) on their website. 2) Pick the images on iphoto 3) Choose File - Export on the top bar on your Mac 4) Sign in to your account (email and password of their site) 5) It'll show you what you picked. So hit the "Export". 6) On their site, you pick the images, size, print type, and quantity. 7) Pay by credit card or paypal 8) They'll ship it right away (literally)! $5 flat shipping rate and standard takes 2 days. Their website is a bit confusing and mess. I wish they could make it more organized. They're a professional printer. They're a very good one and guarantee the print quality. If you didn't like it, you ship them back to them with the detailed reasons, and reprint for you (for free!) I didn't like 30+ prints out of 140+, which wasn't bad ratio from my past experience. They explained to me the differences on 3x3 matte card and 4x4 photo paper by email and reprinted them all for 4x4 (for free!). They're unbelievable! Great customer service!! I'm so happy with the photo paper quality - the colors are more intense, more details in the highlight, more contrasts than 3x3 matte card. Some of them tuned out a bit too dark, but big differences from the first time! They also print regular formats, but I only use iphone for my photography and heavy user of "hipstamatic". So my digital photography is square format. I have a DSLR, yet iphone and phone apps made me not even open the box ;p I shoot and edit only with iphone. How amazing what digital photography could offer. Some tips: Square format print size: 2x2 to 40x40. They even have a cool "polaroid" type printing and posters (making a collage). Paper kinds: the standard is matte. They also have pearl and soft texture art for extra $. Glossy is not so forgiven and leave finger prints on print so easily, so it totally makes sense. "Instagram Print": You don't need to use instagram - it just means "square format". It uses "card", not a photo paper. It's a little thicker than photo paper. The printing quality isn't bad, but less color reproduction capability compared to "Photographic Print". Some came out good - simpler images work better on this. Too contrasty or too light (soft contrast) images won't work on this since you lose lots of contrast. It's cool anyway. "Photographic Print": It uses a photo paper. It has a great quality, though I thought 4x4 was too big: smaller print size has a better resolution and crispier look than bigger print (unless you have a big file size to begin with). Since my file was dealt on iphone, the file size isn't big (which means not so good resolution to start with). It turned out great! I might try 5x5 but I assume that would be the max.. Unhappy print: you need to contact them within 24-48 hours. They'll reprint for you. - Conqueror's Deduction - It'll b my place to print square format - great for iPhone photographers!! Easy to order, very quick to ship, great quality, reasonable price and great customer service. I highly recommend even for the real photographers! read more

I've been a devoted user of Persnickety Prints for a while now. I use them for all prints in my etsy shop, our family photos, Christmas cards, etc. and no other place compares. The quality and clarity you get for the price is fantastic. We recently moved to Austin so now I have them ship prints and it's a flat $5 rate no matter how many prints I order. They also ship incredibly fast. Before our move, going into the store to pick up my prints was always a pleasant experience; nice people, cool vibe. On smaller orders like mine they were always ready within a few hours (or less) after I had placed my order. The online ordering system has come a long way, and while it still needs some work, once you figure it out it's fine. I love that I can upload my photos and have them stored FREE.
