When this restaurant opened for the first time in Pooler I was excited because I love Indian food however, the reviews were pretty bad so I waited & I finally tried this establishment for the first time on a Sunday 10/10/21 around 9PM. What I wanted most was the paneer because I had it before at an Indian restaurant in Richmond Hill. However Persis version of paneer is made with no flavor, taste like water and I'm not exaggerating. It seemed pointless eating it because it had no taste. I asked for mild seasoning but the sauce it was in was too spicy for me unfortunately because I wanted to mix the sauce with the chicken and the rice. I ordered the chicken tikka kebab, the meat was very tender and it was good. We had a few other dishes but I think overall this will not be our go to spot for Indian food. read more

Indian Food Is Not Hot unless you order hot.. There are three levels Mild, Medium, and Hot or Vindaloo. Love this restaurant, we get food here just about every weekend I love to try out new things so working my way through the menu. I do not eat the hot level and I tend to stick to the med or mild dishes. I love lamb and get the medium in that but we eat mostly vegetarian dishes. The dishes we have are very good and everything we have had has been better than most Indian restaurants we have had here the Savannah area. The waitress Monica is very good at making sure you are happy and makes sure you want for nothing.Give it a try. Best meal out in a while. read more

It was our first visit to an Indian restaurant in the Savannah area (we are from NC); the food was quite flavorful and fresh: don't expect South Indian stuff o flavor though; for North Indian - Chinese, this is a good place: we ordered different types of naan, roti, butter chicken, chili shrimp and mutton biryani...everything was pretty good. We also ordered half tandoori chicken; it was delicious but a total ripoff; we got one single chicken leg quarter for $12.99!!! No breast, wings etc as part of the half chicken. If you go to some other places, you can get a whole tandoori chicken for 16 bucks...I raised with issue with the staff but they said the manager wasn't available. One of the staff members was really nice and apologized but he said there was nothing he could do. Also, the prices are all very inflated (they said the reason was meat prices were high - but we went to an other American restaurant later and there was no hyperinflation in the meat dishes). I hope the management fixes these price gouging issues and then I would give this a 5 star rating! read more

We go there for the outdoor seating option. It's a strip mall and the outside area is very basic. There's a ceiling so you don't get wet in case it rains. The food is good. We like very spicy -- or, "Indian spicy" as they say -- and if you are adamant, they'll give it to you! The service is good. The female server always wears a mask but there is a male (manager?) who comes at the end to take the dishes away and he does not wear a mask usually. We always get a Vindaloo dish and the Tikka Masala -- both delicious! -- and the garlic Naan -- very good. read more

Went to the lunch buffet yesterday as it is right by my office. I usually expect the lunch buffet at Indian restaurants to be inferior to ordering off the menu. However, this restaurant kept the buffet hot and fully stocked. At the end of the day the food still buffet quality but superior to most Indian buffet's and has me excited to go back to order my usual favorites of the menu. I think this place will be either equal to or just a slight notch below the best Indian restaurant in the area (Himalayan curry kitchen). read more

We were very glad to have another Indian resto open in little Pooler. Walking in, it is fairly dark and not a very inviting atmosphere. The layout is too open & there is a lack of a welcome station/host desk. I felt odd just having to wait around for a server. We ordered a takeout (chicken tikka masala and vegetable kolhapuri, both spicy). These dishes come with rice, wish they had an option to opt for naan instead. Both were really good, authentic Indian. Among the worst dining experiences in my 64 years of life. Went twice on a work lunch. N-O-T going back. WAY overrated. First time I got a dish with goat meat. The "meat" was actually bone and fat. Spent more time trying to remove the teeth and gum destroying bones than I did eating, and constantly feared swallowing dangerous bone shards. Only a couple of tiny meat fragments, or could have been gristle. Assumed it was a one time mistake. Second time I got a chicken dish. Again bone, skin, and fat with virtually no meat. I suspect they spoon it from a big pot without checking if meat is included. Thus, I paid WAY too much for meat and rice dishes that were simply spicy rice with bones. read more

Ok, I started dining at this excellent Indian restaurant shortly after it opened a couple of years ago. The food was and is still delicious, however, some things have changed recently that have really turned off my partner and me. It's the filthy, disgusting menus that they put in front of us to order from. Honestly, the pages are encrusted with bits of old food and stains that look like a one year old child ate their lunch on it. That's too bad that we had to experience this because as I said, the food is fantastic. Plenty to eat, delicious and arrives in a timely manner. However, these nasty menus have to go! really great food and service. extremely friendly staff and owner. we had multiple people check in on us to make sure everything was perfect. restaurant and bathrooms were very clean. waitress made sure our drinks never ran empty. prices were very reasonable (about $11 for a dinner entree that also came with a big serving of rice). spice levels were exactly what we asked for. the one star review claiming mild was flaming hot was definitely a personal issue ;) my medium butter chicken had enough spice to liven up the dish but not too much to over power. no complaints and will definitely be making this our new go to indian spot. read more

I came in around dinner time to pick up a to go order since I've been craving Indian. The environment was very nice and clean so it was pleasant to walk into this establishment! The woman who gave us our food was genuinely sweet and gave my 4 year old some water because she was thirsty The food was good. Just really bummed how the portion sizes are so small for $13 and while eating our dinner my husband choked on some kind of metal foil piece that was in his butter chicken which was honestly the most upsetting thing to have to deal with. In the middle of dinner and my husband starts choking and pulls this out of his food. After paying $74 for all the food we ordered we got 3 undersized entrees one of which could've killed my husband/ myself or children, 2 orders (4) samosas, 4 plain naan, raita and rice that come with the entree (also undersized) . Like I said the food was good and the environment was great along with the woman who served us but besides that I'm unhappy with this first impression of Persis. read more

Mediocre food! Being originally from India I have a fairly good idea as to how Indian food should taste.... Order a couple of rum and cokes.... coke had no fizz. Ordered 2 garlic naans.... came out thin and crispy instead of thick and fluffy, My girl ordered a pakora platter. Very ordinary. Nothing to write home about. I ordered a Mutton Rohan Josh. Run don't walk to Persis!! Haven't had anything on the menu that is sub-par. I love the staff and the consistency of the food each time we visit. I often eat the butter lamb or goat with cheese naan. The flavor of their food really comes through it's not just the let's through all the spice and heat where they can barely taste the dish kind of place. Arrived at 11:40 for lunch take out. The host greeted me and had his mask in place. The restaurant was empty. I ordered Chicken 65 Biryani and Lamb Samosas ($26.55). While waiting three men who worked at the restaurant came out, with NO masks, and proceeded to re-arrange the restaurant. I then noticed that the chef was also maskless. My food finally came out at 12:10 and I was grateful to escape the restaurant because they began moping the floors with an extremely powerful detergent. At home to my absolute disappointment, the Chicken was from the day before and had just been re-heated. Plus I found a hair in one of the samosas. The restaurant itself was also dirty.
