I've been seeing Dr Lam for the last 4 years. He is really great with patients and knows how to put them at ease. He is thorough and explains things well so that you understand fully what is going on with your teeth. His dental hygienists are very friendly and thorough with their cleaning, polishing and (my fav) flossing too. Theresa, the office manager goes above and beyond to assist in any way possible. Whether it be a billing question or appointments or finding a same day appointment. She is also very responsive to any text inquires. Communication was very disappointing. I left a voicemail to schedule a deep cleaning and never got a call back. When I called again, it took about 10 rings for someone to answer. I was also told I'd receive a call within a week about a night guard and Invisalign quote, but that never happened. Lack of follow-up made the whole experience frustrating. read more

Reception can be hit or miss. The routine cleaning service is okay and typical. When the reception is a miss it's hugely negative. A lot of weird person vibes when they cannot communicate properly. Tried to call to reschedule my upcoming appointment. After a loooooong 15 second pause without acknowledging my request I tried to gently ask if she was still there. She then suddenly had attitude with a sharp deep sigh asking who she is talking to. Then after some more silence after telling her my name, she just hung up. Think the receptionist had a name starting with T. Won't be calling back to reschedule since it's extremely off putting. Wonder why this place cheaps out on hiring someone with even a barely acceptable personality. Think now that I moved, it's time to try a new dentist. read more

Don't waste your time! ! The front staff is completely unorganized. I had an appointment set up and when I called to let them know I would be 5 minutes late, I was informed I did not have an appointment on their schedule. I even had an appointment confirmation email supporting what I thought was my correctly scheduled appointment! Go elsewhere. Ridiculous. read more

I had two bad experiences. First one, the dentist asked me to "chew like a lady." That comment felt sexist. What does that even mean? I spoke to the office manager about this situation and she apologized on behalf of the dentist and everything was settled. Then recently I came back for a cleaning and when making the appointment they did not mention it will be a deep cleaning. I get there and they hand me a bill for $50+ for a deep cleaning. If they told me over the phone, I would not have made the appointment until later in the year because money is tight. When I tell them I am not going to do that and I want a regular cleaning, the hygienist was extremely rude saying she is not going to do my cleaning. I told her I do not have money for this and her response was "that's not my problem." She proceeded to say I am rude when I asked her well who is going to pay for it are you? She then told me to leave. When I went to the front desk to talk to her, this hygienist followed me out continuing to be rude and telling me to get out. When I asked her her name, she had so much attitude and sarcasm in her voice when she said I'll gladly give you my name because she knew the office manager would back her up. She told me she's the hygienist and she makes the decisions and that I am no longer a patient. I called to speak to the office manager who heard my side of it and then proceeded to tell me that she will speak to Dr. Lam (who has been my dentist since I was a kid) and the hygienist and give me a call back. I waited 3 weeks. No call back. I finally called back and the office manager claimed she was with a patient and never called back. They do not care about their patients. They only protect their employees. I am very disappointed in this dental clinic and I do not recommend them. Their form of communication is extremely rude from the first incident to this. I was not going to put a review but when they avoid reaching back out it shows they would rather have the review than chat with me about the situation. If they were thorough with their communication over the phone (explaining this will be a deep cleaning not a regular cleaning), I would not have been upset. However, they chose not to disclose that information over the phone. It felt like they were trying to get money out of me and they know if they mention that over the phone the patient may not make the appt. So instead they chose to keep it to themselves until I walked in. Additionally, when someone says they do not have money, most places would start talking about paying later or payment options or financial aid. None of that was discussed with me. It's sad they cannot call their patient back. But after this experience I do not recommend going here. There are MUCH better places in Pleasanton to go to, with nicer staff. read more

Dr. Lam is the kindest dentist I have been to! I've gone through 10ish years of painful orthodontic work and more. Dr Lam was sensitive and wasn't judgmental to my anxiety. Recently moved to the area and thought to give Persimmon Dental care a shot. Went in for my first regular cleaning appointment with an expectation of getting my teeth cleaned. But no, they had some other plans. They took my x-rays and wasted my time with consultation. I get paid by the hour and I have very limited availability. Honestly, they could have asked me or my former dentist for the X-rays and other dental related information. The consultation was nothing great, just reiterating a few facts that I already know about my dental health. Second time I made my appointment for cleaning and apparently they never booked me. Scheduling confusions are unacceptable and this place doesn't give me a good feeling. Like any other money making dentist offices they give you a list of issues with you and have you waste money. I've come to this place no less than 4 times as a new patient to setup an appointment for a cleaning/check up. They say they close at 6pm and 2 of the 4 times I came they were closed (by 4pm when I arrived) and 2 other times the door was locked (still before the 6pm close time) with the receptionist behind the desk and no explanation as to why they are closed. This last time I came (around 5pm) I tugged on the door, it was locked as usual. I looked at the receptionist and she put her hands up as if to say "I don't know what to do". Puzzled, I looked at their hours posted on the door, just to make sure I'm not crazy, and it still says 6pm. I wasn't there to get any dental work done, merely to make an appointment, fill out paperwork and give them my insurance info. I've never come across a business that's so difficult to give my money to. It's a bummer too because this place is so close to my office that it'd be perfect to get my dental work done during my lunch hours. I brought my two kids to see Dr. Giang. They had a great experience, watched TV the whole time, and chose an item out of the toy box. The sweet clay giraffe figurine my daughter chose and painted is so beautiful that it's in our display cabinet as a treasured art piece. I even sent Sandra (the kind receptionist) a picture of it. So I signed up for an appt and discovered Dr. Giang is also very thorough in explaining what's going to happen, which I really appreciate. So far I've gotten crowns and cleanings and have been very happy with them. And I get to watch HGTV while they work. Sandra accommodates my request for a text the day before the appt. The hygienists are also kind and professional. I asked if they had a blanket (I was cold) and she brought it and made sure I was comfortable before she started. So then my husband signed up. He and I agree that, although we have been to some wonderful dentists, Dr. Giang and his staff are the best. We look forward to being with them for a long time. read more

I had a very good experience at the dental office. Safety measures are in place so I felt very safe. The staff and Dr. Lam are very friendly and make sure you are comfortable. I was able to watch the Food Channel while awaiting my teeth cleaning and exam. The operator ones are modern and very clean and the dental hygienist cleaned everything with alcohol as she proceeded with the X-rays and teeth cleaning. Today I walked into Persimmon Dental Care for the first time with an excruciatingly painful, infected and exposed wisdom tooth. After calling and being refused by at least 7 dentists and oral surgeons for an emergency extraction, I felt completely helpless. After hearing from multiple oral surgeons that I would first need x-rays, and having had a great referral from our family's trusted orthodontist (Olympic Orthodontics), I called Persimmon Dental Care, who took my call and agreed to see me within the hour! I immediately felt such a boost of morale and relief knowing that someone finally wanted to help me get out of the immense and unrelenting pain I was in! Dr. Giang saw me immediately once I arrived, took x-rays, and laid out my options clearly and unbiased (not swaying me one way or another -- I have had dentists with hidden agendas in the past, Dr. Giang is not one of those!). After patiently allowing me to come to a decision Dr. Giang agreed to extract my exposed wisdom tooth on the spot and set me up with an appointment with an oral surgeon to extract the 3 wisdom teeth that were still impacted in my gums. In the hours following I was absolutely thrilled that I made this decision. I would never have guessed that pulling out a gigantic wisdom tooth that had caused me so much pain would have been so easy. It took seconds! Dr. Giang and the rest of the amazing staff at Persimmon Dental Care put my mind at ease, made me laugh, and most importantly took my pain away. Being that there was no anesthesia involved (only novacaine), I could not have built up the courage to take this leap of faith without their warmth, compassion, and sincerity. I used to be his patient years ago at another dental clinic but I moved and couldn't do the drive to see him. To my surprise, he also remembered my name and me. was thinking on getting invisalign and they told me to get my mold done, so I got my molds from them and then come back to charge me over 100 dollars for molds because they said my insurance didnt reimburse. It would have been nice to know before getting my molds done that insurance might not cover it! Might not have gotten the mold done then. My husband and I just moved to the area and decided to try out this dental office out of convenience since it's so close to where to live. And as an added bonus it got good reviews in yelp. The staff is very friendly they explain everything they're going to do which puts you at ease. My only dislike is the scheduling. Between my husband and I we've had 5 appointments with two more scheduled in less than a month! You'd think we have horrible teeth right?! Wrong, after our exams the dr said our teeth were fine and we could continue with the standard every six month cleaning. So why so many visit you might ask....well we had to have our cleaning done on one day then the new patient exam and x-ray on a separate day. That was four visits between the two of us. Then there were a couple follow up things the dr recommended, guess what we have to go back in for those. We saw our other dentist once every six months, so this was new for us. What's made it tough for us is that we have a newborn and we haven't found a babysitter yet. So going to the dentist in what will be 7 times when we're finished, in less than a month is hard. So yeah just be prepared to go back multiple times even if you don't have any major issues with your teeth. read more
