But also be aware that libraries have so much more these days. The Batavia branch has games you can borrow, stem kits for kids, a seed library! On top of that check out the events on their website or social media, they have so many free activities for adults and kids alike, from art activities to movie nights to so many more. We have been to paint nights for both adults and even my 1 year old, they had a cool baby race my daughter participated in, we gave been to trivia and always participate in their summer read program. While its definitely NOT the huge glass roofed facilities one finds in universities and big cities, its definitely a notable one of a kind place all it's own that I'm personally quite fond of. You get the charm of the original building paired with the modern beauty of the Bausch & Lomb structure both are worth seeing. The library offers a ton of programs for kids, teens, and adults. Definitely check their website, because there's so much going on. Becoming a cardholder is easy, and once you are, make sure you look into their VIP section, you can snag free or discounted tickets to local attractions. You can check out physical books, audiobooks, and ebooks, and they're great if you need computer access or printing. They also have plenty of study areas and quiet spots to get work done. Honestly, they offer more than most people realize (myself included until recently!). The only downside is parking and it can be a bit tricky. I'm not sure if they validate or offer any vouchers, so it's worth asking. I was lucky enough to find street parking... but yes, you do have to pay. A great library with so much to offer. Highly recommend exploring everything they provide.

Like all libraries these days the card catalog has been upgraded to a computer look up system for ease for all. But what sets it apart is the kind and caring staff, that takes the time to get to know you, offer recommendations and host events. Whether you are a child or an adult, you will find something for you. Not much of a reader? Check out one of their technology classes, holiday parties for kids and families, and free art classes for kids, and also separate art classes for adults. Walking up to the circulation desk, I was facing a nice professional office space with a doorway to the children's section in the back, but I turned around and saw the massive interior of the main building. The library is open and airy with high ceilings, ornate tiles, dark wood shelves, display cases, and some dark iron fixtures. It is simply stunning. And how wonderful that this was purpose-built as a library! I'd love to visit again on a late afternoon to see how the sunlight falls through the tall windows. Friendly staff and a lovely building.
