Beautiful area my family came here this year! We had a tour of the dam and it was amazing! Our tour guide was fabulous!

The Mount Morris Dam is a dam across the Genesee River gorge from the north entrance of Letchworth State Park. It is run by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. I arrived just barely in time for the daily 3pm dam tour. It was run by an excellent ranger named Tom, who explained all about the dam. It turns out it is a dry dam used for flood prevention of Rochester upstream. The exhibits in the museum were neat, and the children's play area was well-maintained. Tom also offered excellent restaurant suggestions, and trails to take at Letchworth Park the next day. Great roadside stop I did not find until I reached town! read more
