The staff were welcoming and the building is lovely. They have a great sense of history in this building. Patrons were using the resources and socializing, making this a great public space. Even with lots of questions from different patrons, the staff were cheerful, easily handed off work and supported each other, and made sure everything worked like clockwork.

But also be aware that libraries have so much more these days. The Batavia branch has games you can borrow, stem kits for kids, a seed library! On top of that check out the events on their website or social media, they have so many free activities for adults and kids alike, from art activities to movie nights to so many more. We have been to paint nights for both adults and even my 1 year old, they had a cool baby race my daughter participated in, we gave been to trivia and always participate in their summer read program. You get the charm of the original building paired with the modern beauty of the Bausch & Lomb structure both are worth seeing. The library offers a ton of programs for kids, teens, and adults. Definitely check their website, because there's so much going on. Becoming a cardholder is easy, and once you are, make sure you look into their VIP section, you can snag free or discounted tickets to local attractions. You can check out physical books, audiobooks, and ebooks, and they're great if you need computer access or printing. They also have plenty of study areas and quiet spots to get work done. Honestly, they offer more than most people realize (myself included until recently!). The only downside is parking and it can be a bit tricky. I'm not sure if they validate or offer any vouchers, so it's worth asking. I was lucky enough to find street parking... but yes, you do have to pay. A great library with so much to offer. Highly recommend exploring everything they provide.

Like all libraries these days the card catalog has been upgraded to a computer look up system for ease for all. But what sets it apart is the kind and caring staff, that takes the time to get to know you, offer recommendations and host events. Whether you are a child or an adult, you will find something for you. Not much of a reader? Check out one of their technology classes, holiday parties for kids and families, and free art classes for kids, and also separate art classes for adults. Although the ground floor is small, it holds the adult section only, while the kids room comes alive down stairs. Displays are updated, and activities and fun abound. The Fairport library is located in the Fairport Village Landing - a plaza with many other…read morebusinesses and shared parking. Take the stairwell or elevator to the ground floor to enter the library. Once you're inside, you'll forget you're in a retail plaza. This was my first time here and I noticed large sections for children and teens, a quiet room, a nice selection of foreign films, a whole shelf of Hallmark movies, five big shelves of large print books for those of us with bad eyesight, and a lot of comfy places to sit. You can even check out a tote bag to bring your items home! If you walk by the library on the canal side, you can see in to the cozy reading area where the windows are lined with books. This is a welcoming and well stocked library that I will definitely return to.
