We spent $50,000 getting our concrete pool fixed and resealed. We had a leak in the main drain - and, to make sure I give credit for that - that issue was fixed - however after the resurfacing work was done and we filled up the pool we saw a LOT of white streaks/footprints in our blue colored pool. We contacted Tim immediately and he said he'd come back to fix it. He came out to look at it and blamed it on the people who refinished the pool - that they didn't clean off their boots from the previous white pool job. There are chunks of white in the bottom of the pool. I asked him to come repair/redo the blue finish when the season opened this Spring. For numerous reasons, that didn't work, so we agreed he would come when the season was over and the pool was emptied. He did come on the date we agreed and did fix one of the issues but then told me to fix the white streaks in the blue pool myself. In fact - he blamed ME for the discoloration. WHAT??? When I questioned this, he got really mad, put the cover on an empty pool, packed up his stuff and left without talking to me. Unprofessional...and really concerning. Tim did a great job- my pool looks better than ever. He was responsive to emails and calls, did the work in a timely manner and was easy to talk through concerns in a professional manner. He works hard and wants his work to reflect that. I found his costs to be reasonable as well. I highly recommend Perkins Pools by Tim. My 30 year old pool was a mess. Tim and his crew worked in February under a tent and still did a great job! New gunnite, new tiles, new fountain wall and all new plumbing. Existing paver patio was removed and replaced and you can't even tell that happened. So many compliments from my friends! He even came back in fall and walked me through the closing process. After being taken advantage of by another local company, Tim from Perkins Pool was referred to me as someone that could help me out. He came out the same day I called him to give me his opinion on what needed to be done to correct the damage done to my pool and how to refinish it the correct way. I was extremely happy with the repair work, the professionalism of the entire crew from demo to refinish to clean up to closing of my pool. Tim and his crew were great to work with!!!! I highly recommend!! Will update my review when my pool opens with pictures of the the beautiful tile work and refinish job they did. So this is an interesting guy. He is not cheap but he is quick to get out there and also to collect half up front. In my case thank God I was offered my check back but I believe he did not think I would take it. He said he knew all about pools but I am afraid that is not the case. He recommended me removing the water from a fiberglass pool and that is a no no. I had a sump pump for the pool that was bad and he bought what he believed was a replacement and actually was a pond pump that would never have shut off and would have burned out leaving me vulnerable and not knowing the better. He said my filter system for the pool was wrong and that was incorrect he just was not familiar or was trying to build up the ticket. I was told all would be $1700 which I wrote a check for half, as he said he always collected of only to be emailed a proposal for $2500. He also said he only like taking the bigger jobs before I saw the $2500 number. He sent me texts and emails late In the evening to which I responded, but the next day when he put the pond pump in and I called him to tell him the hose was bent in 3 places so no water was coming out, he went off on me telling me I was texting him "drunk" at all hours and woke him in the morning. To which I say do pad my bill late and answer the phone early. Excuse me!!! So, yes when offered to get my check back I took it and sent him on his way. He took my 35' hose that he used with his pump since he must not have had one without me knowing and on top of it threatened to blackball me with every pool company around. All I can say is stay away. He is not knowledgeable, rude, and not someone I would trust being around my stuff. And from the other review I have found, I'm not the only one this has happened to. Again, Tim Perkins or Perkins Poole's in Florence, Ky. Update. On further review I have also found a part that was broken by Tim with his attempt to open my pool. And when called to request him to return the hose he took he asked for my ex wife's phone number. What was that all about. I would not get near this contracted. read more

They worked outside -- masks were not required. The family is enjoying our pool. Tim has been very helpful in maintaining the pool and adding the right chemicals. We have received so many compliments. The almost $30,000 investment was worth it. read more

Is there a NO star option? Do yourself a huge favor and stay away from this guy. Tim sounds very knowledgeable, but his finished product is much less than expected. We contracted Tim to tile and replaster our gunite pool. Like others have said, the only thing you can count on is for him to show up for his checks. We experienced numerous delays, subcontractors with little to no supervision, and a finished job with jets not working, stress cracks in the plaster, and uneven discolored plaster and unfortunately a leak that he claims no responsibility. Tim's response to all of this is "I just wanted a free water leak test out of him". I am now faced with additional repairs to fix my pool at my additional cost. Buyer Beware! I would give a zero star if it was an option!!! If you are looking to have a pool installed, DO NOT USE Perkins Pools! They do not stand behind their workmanship and subcontract the concrete work out to people who do not specialize in pool decks...all to put more money in their pocket at the sacrifice of the quality to the customer! My entire pool needs to be redone because he wanted to cut corners. He has opted not to correct it the right way and instead deal with this through the courts. First he dug out my main sewer line and tried to hide it by disposing of the broken pipe...that should have been clue #1! After the concrete was poured... very unevenly and with coping that will tear someone's skin up (see picture)....his offer was an "upgrade" with a product I asked about prior to the concrete being poured (spray deck/cool deck) to layer over the imperfections. Some areas are more than an inch off...not to mention the pool isn't even square. The concrete is already cracking! One entire side of the pool slopes INTO the pool, so every time it rains all of the water and debris will go directly into my Pool. The steps aren't plumb and the railing was put in during the concrete pour so it now has concrete all over it, making it unusable. The whole ordeal has been a nightmare! read more

My experience with Tim Perkins started in June 2018. My inground gunite pool needed to be completely refurbished with new plaster, tile and coping. I didn't think much of it at the time, but during contract signing at my house he took a call from a customer, which turned into a heated discussion. After the call he explained about how some customers are never happy...I should have taken that as a warning sign. The work started by emptying the pool. He duct taped sections of plastic pool hose together to make it around the house and down the driveway. Sometime after he left the job site for the night the duct tape gave way and flooded my neighbors yard. I notified Tim, but he didn't acknowledge the issue and left it to me to apologize to my neighbor. Cracks were found in the structure so he said he wanted to bring in an expert to fix. I paid the expert, who was at the house for 20 minutes. Turns out he was just a consultant who told Tim what to do and then he left. I paid a lot of money for a 20 minute consult. During the project I kept noticing other leaks and found that they were going through my garage and helping themselves to my hand tools. I emailed my concerns to Tim and that's when he got upset. He threatened to abandon the job if I didn't get a better attitude. I had so much money tied up with him already, that I swallowed my pride and literally had to beg him to return. They finished the job, but the new concrete pool coping was full of air bubbles, uneven and the job site was left a mess. He promised to come back to power wash the dust they left on the patio, but that never happened. I didn't write a review at the time because I knew if I was honest, I'd never get any warranty service. Fast forward a year later and I had a significant water leak in one of the underground supply lines for the pool. I was in the middle of getting a new concrete patio poured and the contractors couldn't finish until I fixed the leak. I called every other pool contractor in Cincinnati and they were all booked for at least 2 months. I was under pressure from my concrete contractor, so I unfortunately reached out to Tim Perkins once again. Against my better judgement I reluctantly hired him again to re-pipe the pool because he was able to get the job done quick and keep my concrete contractor on-track. He finished the work, which required drilling through the pool wall to enlarge the size of the return jets. They had to pack new plaster around the hole, which looked messy and didn't match up well with the original plaster. He also added new return jet eyeball fittings. After refilling the pool and restarting the pump I noticed air bubbles in the pump filter basket and emailed a video clip to Tim. He dismissed it as minor and nothing to worry about. $4000 work with air leak and it's nothing to worry about! It's now Fall of 2019 and I need to close the pool. I tried to remove the eyeball fittings, but they are covered with plaster, which has them cemented/glued into place. I tried using a channel wrench, but I think they need to be chiseled out of the plaster. On October 15, 2019 I reached out to Tim and included a picture to explain the issue. He responded to my email stating: "Big piece turns it has a Male fitting into your pic inch and a half jets.p plastic out big ring to cover imperfections". It was hard to decipher what he was saying, but as I couldn't get the cover to turn, I wrote back explaining I needed help and wanted him to close the pool for me at a cost as it was getting late in the year and the weather was changing. He didn't respond so I Thursday I sent a follow up email asking for his help and availability. Again I had no response so finally out of extreme frustration, I emailed him on Saturday to tell him I was taking legal action. He not only emailed me that same day, but he also called. It was now my turn to be the customer on the other end of the phone just like when I signed the original contract to refurb the pool. He told me that I never wrote him a review, so why should he jump through hoops for me. He went on to say that he'd never pay me and wanted me to grovel up to him to fix the work he messed up. At this point it was unrecoverable so I told him I'd find a real contractor to do the job right. He hung up the phone on me. As a final chapter to my experience with Perkins Pools, I wanted to finally leave the review he deserved over a year ago. I've read his online attacks to people who wrote bad reviews for him, so I'm sure he will repeat. As for me, I'll never let him touch my pool again. read more

Perkins Pools does not come highly recommended. We contracted with them to open and clean our pool. We informed Tim that our pool was green, algae and all, he said it wasn't a problem and we schedule him to come out 2 weeks later. Tim's right hand showed up first, he was extremely knowledgably and friendly. He checked out our pool, walked through what they would probably do and then met Tim shortly after. The first person left after he ran through with Tim what was going on and that we needed a new piece for our pump as they opened it. They got a quote for the piece and labor and we agreed. They both left, one to go get the piece and one to go to another site. Tim arrived back with the piece and proceeded to replace it. As the pump was working, Tim was skimming and scrubbing but we happened to notice that Tim was putting chemicals in the pool that he was using the chemicals he brought and the shock that was in our shed- without asking. He dumped bottle after bottle of our shock (about $50 the first day). He then said he would return the next day to continue and finish the job. He arrived the next day and saw the progress of the pool, he confirmed it was doing better and continued to skim and scrub, and dump more of our shock in the pool (about another $30 worth), all while on the phone with someone that was taking him through the process and providing advice, the entire time. Finally, after about 4 hours, we decided it was enough and we needed to part ways. We paid him for the part the day before and on the second day, we paid him what we agreed upon when we contracted him. As he went to leave, he had an issue with what we paid him, in cash, the agreed upon amount. My husband proceeded to tell him that it was what we agreed upon and it was more than fair for him leaving and us still having a green pool. He left to go to his truck after mumbling hatefulness under his breath as he picked up his items and informed us that he 'will make sure no other pool company works on our pool'. He then called my husband and informed him that we still owed him money for the chemicals. He said we we're to split the cost of chemicals. I'm sorry but if you are contracted to complete a job, you 1. Bring your materials to complete the job and 2. Complete the job- in which he did neither. He continued to argue with my husband and tell him that we owed another $35... at this point, I wanted him off my property so we gave him another $30, we told him it was all the cash we had and he could leave. He informed us that he would follow us to the bank to retrieve more money. We told him that we weren't going to do that and he needed to leave. He finally left the property. In all honestly, I was nervous to leave a review because he knows where we live and he was upset about $5, I can only imagine how he'll be when he reads this review but others must be informed before they book him. read more

Tim was great. He brought his team in and they knocked out our pool tile repair project within a day. We picked out the tile and he picked it up for us which was very helpful. The result looks amazing. I would definitely recommend! read more

If I could give this business a negative review I would. This is the worst experience with a company I've ever encountered. They refuse to complete the job the started (in April) because we are constantly asking on an update on completion. The owner (Tim) makes it a point to remind us that the work we are requesting is "minor" compared to his Olympic sized pools he works on but he had no problem taking our money. Tim is very unprofessional and money hungry. Stay clear from Perkins Pools they will take your money fo half the work and leave. Worst company ever!! read more
