I can't say enough about the incredible work Ed and his helper did on my 1979 Ford F250 Ranger…read moreCamper Special. From the very beginning, Ed was open to my ideas and really listened to what I wanted. I brought him a Pendleton blanket to incorporate with leather for a new bench seat, giving a nod to the 70s while still keeping a luxury feel. Together they collaborated with me to design an entirely new look that exceeded my expectations. The result is simply stunning--Ed is a true artist who has perfected his craft. He had a wide variety of leathers to choose from, and I ended up going with a gorgeous Mercedes leather. The transformation is night and day compared to the old, ratty seat cover I had before. On top of that, my truck didn't even have carpet, and they custom-made a carpet that fits perfectly and pulls the whole interior together. Every detail is thoughtfully done, and the quality is second to none. If you're looking for someone who not only has the skill but also the passion to bring your vision to life, Ed (and his right-hand man, whose name I regret forgetting!) are the team to go to. I'm beyond amazed with the final result!

My 1974 Camaro spent more than three months going in and out of their shop, and the main issue I brought it in for was never fixed. The car is now at another shop, where mechanics are correcting issues that Vintage Customs should have already taken care of. SWEET MERCIFUL NOSE GODS! Let me tell you about Dan's Auto Top and Upholstery, where the art of…read morechair-sniffing has been elevated to an Olympic sport and every seat tells an aromatic story! I walked in to find Dan himself, the Leonardo da Vinci of posterior perfume analysis, performing his legendary "post-sit sniff test" on a freshly reupholstered Camaro seat. His nostrils, trained by decades of professional butt-bouquet evaluation, can detect the difference between a customer who had tacos for lunch and one who just came from hot yoga. The shop's lead upholsterer, known only as "The Nose," claims to have developed a complex rating system based entirely on chair aromatics. "Every tush leaves a unique symphony of scents," he whispers while hovering inches above a recently vacated waiting room chair, his nose twitching like a wine sommelier having a spiritual experience. Their signature service, "The Deep Sniff Detail," includes a comprehensive analysis of your seat's aromatic profile. They maintain a detailed database of customer seat scents, categorized by make, model, and what their customer had for breakfast. I watched in awe as they correctly identified a client's dietary restrictions just by analyzing their driver's seat's olfactory fingerprint. The waiting area features a "Sniff Training Station" where apprentice upholsterers hone their nostril sensitivity. Each trainee must pass the legendary "Seven Seats of Scent" challenge before being allowed to work on actual customer vehicles. Legend has it that only three people have ever achieved a perfect score on the final exam - identifying the exact minute a customer left their seat based on scent alone. In the corner, a mysterious figure known as "The Archive" maintains detailed journals of every chair they've ever sniffed, cross-referenced by season, humidity levels, and whether the customer was wearing jeans or leggings. Their notation system is so complex it requires a PhD in aromatics to decipher. Five stars? Please. This place deserves its own category in the Guinness Book of World Records for "Most Sophisticated Seat Sniffing Program"! P.S. If you hear someone shout "HOT SEAT!" they're not talking about temperature - it's the signal that a particularly interesting aromatic profile has been detected. The entire staff will gather for an emergency sniff consultation. P.P.P.S. Their quality control process involves a blind sniff test where Dan must identify which employee sat in each seat. His accuracy rate is terrifying. P.P.P.P.S. They say on quiet nights, you can still detect trace scents from seats they reupholstered decades ago, each one a time capsule of posterior perfumes past. The shop's official motto: "Every seat tells a story... through your nose." Warning: Do not ask about the "Forbidden Sniff" incident of 2018. The staff still gets misty-eyed about that particularly pungent day.

We have a now-unusual well-made armchair with wooden legs -- and unexpectedly to all, it reclines! You just can't find pieces like this, and certainly not at affordable prices anymore. So when it became ripped up over the years, we knew we wanted to keep it. I spent HOURS reading reviews to find a local place to trust with reupholstering it. Although I saw that this business seemed to focus on cars and boats, the reviews were excellent, and the pieces of furniture impressive. When I went to look at fabric options (warning: it's a bit hard to find, and you might wonder if you're in the right spot: you are), In couldn't believe the available inventory. The owner kept bringing us fabric books and helpfully explaining about quality, prices, etc. We found a pattern we liked, and the quality is excellent (UV, stain, and tear resistant). We also saw some amazing ongoing upholstery projects in the shop, so we felt confident we were in good hands. Sure enough, within just a few weeks, our chair was ready and looks like new. We're so happy with new padding, attention to detail and quality of the work. They even threw in a free tuxedo cat! (Just kidding, that's Alex.) We keep meaning (and forgetting) to bring two little stools to be matched. But have no doubt: anything we need (re)upholstered, we're coming here.
