Cool guy helped me yesterday pick out some plastics and hooks, and even helped me rig them up. He didn't have to, but he offered. I was telling him about my setup, and he recommended I switch to a different reel for the type of fishing I'm trying to do. I ended up buying a Daiwa reel he suggested. Today I went fishing and man... second cast I got a bite! I was shocked. It felt like a halibut, flapping and going crazy, but I couldn't set the hook in time and it got off. Still, I was impressed! It is December 31, 2025 4:30 in the afternoon. I googled this account because it's relatively close to my house. It's only about 20 minutes out of the way but so are the other fishing tackle stores around my house so this is kinda in the direction that I'm going. I googled the store, found the phone number and called the number to confirm if they were open. I called twice, once at 430 and the second at 515pm. and both times it went to what would've been a Voice Mail, but it said nothing was set up and I couldn't leave a voicemail. Odd bc that's not normally the case with a business line. The hours of operation listed on the companies website and front door states that they should be open until 7 PM M-F. I think it is very unprofessional to not have the basics of communication like a voicemail set up or anything that you're closed. Let me start by saying how cool this tackle shop is. The selection is massive for the size of the shop, and it's very well stocked with all the gear you need. I came in just to check it out and left with some Keitechs for a very good price. I didn't catch the employee's name, but he was just super informative and helpful in every aspect. Had lunch with friends and stopped by this fishing gear specialty store near the restaurant. As we chatted with the owner, he mentioned it's a family-owned business that has been here around for over twenty years! The owner was very friendly and knowledgeable and we bought our fishing permits here. We also walked around the store, and it mainly specializes in selling a wide variety of fishing baits and other fishing tackles. Compared to the Turner's Outdoorsman, I actually prefer the atmosphere here, and most product's prices here match with Amazon's, so no worries about overpaying. There's an adorable dog and we had a really great shopping experience here and definitely will come back! read more

Richard was such a professional and provided excellent customer service to my son and I, as well as our friends. All together, it was two moms, two 11 year olds, and one 13 year old. We're all pretty new to fishing. Richard took the time to walk us through what gear we needed from fishing poles to bait to hooks. He didn't try to upsell and was realistic and offered practical advice. He even prepped our poles for us, and gave us local information on where to go. Customer service here is always pretty good. Just because I have to mention it, I know it's not their fault but I simply can't take my son in here with the customer's cussing and basically showing their big boy attitudes. Not every time but enough for me to be cautious. That aside, the selection is really good for the area and the seem to have everything we would need for the area. The rod selection is decent along with the reels they have but I think their terminal tackle selection really sets them apart. They have a wide range of hooks, jigs and tackle for everything I have ever needed and I assume for many other types of fishing as well. Sales people are mostly okay, I think that if you are looking for some direction they are always happy to help out. Prices are decent as well, I consider them a reliable shop and will absolutely be going back read more

Long story short: Store: Great for going in and getting what you need and back out. Purchased tackle for 2 people: $99.15 Customer service... I guess you would have to test your luck on whoever is available but I won't be going back... Details: Yesterday, I had some business meetings in the LB area... and figured that I should stop by this store to get information related to the tackle I would need for a last-minute fishing trip I made for later tonight. Since, it was going to be a bit out of the way, I called in to check if they were going to be opened and that I had a few questions related to tackle I should get ready for a friend and myself. Whoever answered said they're ready to answer anything when I arrived. I do not believe the person that assisted me was the same person over the phone due to his poor communication skills. I wasn't planning to bring in this 7ft rod that has been left behind for over a decade by a family friend in my garage to see if there are any issues with it other than having the line changed. When I asked about using rods 8ft - 10ft I was told that I was going to struggle with it. Then, I asked about tady lures and the response I received was that it is something more for someone that is experienced and knows how to use it. Again... not answering my question. I was hoping for more information than I was able to get off youtube... and google search engines. Instead, he further went on telling me about there being a learning curve, all the information that he could tell me but will not because he has determined that I would even be able to remember (I have no problem pulling out a pen and paper from my bag and actively take notes on info that I have not already gathered on my own). I said please tell me because I simply will be able to remember. He said look I could sell you the whole store but I am not. Again ... no thank you ... and that's still not what I am asking. I understand not everyone is detailed oriented and quick at learning new things. I didn't realize I needed to try and convince a salesperson to tell more about the specific products they sell that I am interested in buying. It is rare for me to have free time and enough time to go fishing more ... Especially, in 2020 due to my profession, my days off are scarce and I value what I choose to invest in my free time. I shouldn't have to waste my time to come in and not get all my questions answered or at least referred to another person/source. I'd been looking for a tackle shop in northern OC and stumbled upon this place. James (owner of Cambinos http://www.yelp.com/biz/cambinos-asian-bbq-cypress) recommended this place and, boy, was I surprised when I first stopped by. This place looks tiny from the outside, but it's bigger than you'd think. They've got a good selection of fresh and saltwater equipment. If you're into inshore/offshore fishing, they can certainly take care of you here. But, from what I've read on many fishing forums, this is THE place for bass set-ups. These guys are apparently well known for their custom-wrapped bass rods. I've seen their work up close and it's nice. Real nice. Anyway, they also have bait in addition to a great selection of artificial lures (crankbaits, swimbaits, irons, etc.). In terms of service, I don't think you can go wrong. I've mostly dealt with Jeremy and have never been treated poorly. If you're looking for something in particular, they'll help you out. And, you won't feel pressured to buy something you don't want or need. If you're into fishing, you should definitely check this place out. read more

Few times in the area since my boy practice baseball at the cage. So I decided to to check out this place due to great reviews. As I walked in no other customers in the store which it seem odd due to great reviews. After talking to some guy I asked to see if I can get line on my two reels. He suggested to go with 65 spectra on my Torium 30 and 45 spectra on my 16 A Trinidad. After adding line to both reels the cost for both was $160 I think it was way to expensive. Aight, I'll admit that I was only here because the Michael Unit was leaving for a three day trip and DRAGGED me here. I convinced him to try this place rather than driving to Bass Pro Shops in Rancho Cucamonga, which I HATE. Very professional equipment and staff. From what I know about fishing, which is not a lot, they seem to have the saltwater thing covered. It's a no frills shop, but they have some very high end rods and reels. There was nothing that I could possibly use, but the MU spent over $90. read more

After living in Palm Desert for 12 years I was able to move to Seal Beach. I fished all my life and at 65 I wanted to surf fish again. I stopped in at Performance Tackle where I met Joe and Mark. I was referred to this tackle shop by a friend of mine who is a professional fisherman. I brought in a couple of pics of a couple of reels, I thought I wanted. Problem was, those reels weren't what I needed. Joe asked me a couple of questions and educated me on why I was looking at the wrong reels. He guided me to two reels, which looked like the ones I had the picture of, but features and use was much different. I actually spent less on the two reels I bought then the ones I wanted online. I purchased a rod with his help and had braided line put on the reels. Just come here and ask for Joe or Mark. read more

I don't know who I should be mad at. Myself for being lazy or this over priced rip off tackle shop. It'll be the last time I come here. Not only are they expensive, but they're the least bit helpful. Not unless you're some "salty crew" badass fisherman then they could give two shits about you and your questions. I spent $44 getting two reels spooled up by them. I could have bought the same amount of braid online and did it myself for $27. Was the extra $17 worth the convince of them spooling my line? Hell no. Lesson learned save the money do it myself and take the extra $17 to buy more tackle. read more

Came to this place because of the reviews, even though this place is a little further than other shops. A couple of weeks ago I came into this place to get some repair work done on a rod. When I approached the counter, the guy on the phone was more concerned about what his competition was doing, that he kept on chatting away (over 5 minutes) even though I was standing right across from him. I finally gave up and started looking for other employees. It's just not what I'm used to from a tackle shop. I did not feel welcomed and it was not a friendly atmosphere from the guy behind the cash register. I felt like I was bothering him. I will go to another shop that is actually closer and had a 5 star review as well. The good... They Got the work completed Took about a week to complete The Negative... I came to performance after hearing about it from a friend, all I wanted was a little information on a rod and reel setup. What I got was a plethora of information, all really helpful, In Fact helpful enough to make a commitment to a setup I was hesitant about. Mark ( sales rep/Wikipedia of the rod and reel ) took me through all the details about a setup that might work for me. He was definitely not pushy, rather, wanted me to understand things from a detail oriented perspective. The workmanship is no less then perfect, my custom rod and reel setup came out exactly as I wanted it, I even got hooked up with the line they put on there. All in all great purchase, great people, awesome experience. It's people like Mark and the rest of the performance team that assure me that customer service is still something that companies put first, keep it up guys.
