After many years of going elsewhere to get out vehicles oil changed we decided to try out Performance Plus. I was greeted well and the gentlemen there made sure I understood what I was paying for and why. I knew that we were going to need a transmission flush as well as an oil change and got that taken care of as well when they mentioned it. I had never been asked to bring it back a few days later to make sure it was good after the flush. So that was a good indication that they care about their work and the customers. In and out within 15 minutes with a full top off to our windshield wiper fluid along with the options to choose the quality of the products they have. Moved to the area this summer and started looking for a local shop (not a chain) to use for basic oil change. Great location and no appointment needed. However, I could not find the price of oil change during my internet research. No problem, went anyway. Parked in front of bay....still no price posted to see from car. After 20 min. waiting behind a bay...very nice man came over and had me go to the other bay as they were doing more than an oil change to the one I had got behind...no problem...I had the time. After a little chit chat I asked him how much for a "basic oil change" and his response was " in the mid $30 range" ... so I asked again... $30 what?..... he responded... "about $35ish" So, another 20 min. later... I pull car in and go to lounge. An old price board has the basic oil change listed as $34.99 and had *additional "recycling fee"$1.50...okay $36.50 right? Nope, when I paid the receipt had the oil change as $31.98 and a $1.00 recycling and $1.50 environmental fee..for $34.48. I had a coupon and paid $29.98 I think the price is competive locally.... I just don't like it when it is a big secret and I have to do guess work to know what the charge is. They did a great job cleaning my car and were very nice.....but, the next day I took our second car down the street to the competition (chain franchise) that did not hide their price. read more

Went there Saturday, my son is in from out of state and nowhere else was open. Car was towed to Holland from South Haven. All the people there Saturday were extremely nice but couldn't locate all the parts needed. They told us their certified mechanic would be in on Monday and he would fix the car so our son could get back home. They told him to call Monday at 11AM. The mechanic was belligerent, told my son he had more important things to do and if he didn't like it, he could get the car out, so we had to arrange for yet another tow. I don't understand how this place has any customers if this is they way they treat people. read more

We started using this shop because they are locally owned. Unfortunately that didn't go very far. Their shop is dark and dreary, and the staff is disappointing at best. The last time I was in there one of servicemen started to swear at me using a nice little word that begins with the 6th letter in the alphabet; all because I didn't pull far enough forward when I pulled in. I am very happy with the service I have received there. My friend recommended I go there because I needed brakes replaced. They charged me $200.00 less then the dealership. Another time I thought I needed a tune up and was told that I didn't need it. A just took my car back in to have them do the front brakes. They were again cheaper than two other places. They are honest. Yes, it is a garage so it isn't swank. I would rather have a small garage with less overhead. As for the guys, they have always been great to me. They aren't going to blow "smoke up your a@@" because you are a woman. I have had other garages try to sell me based on making me feel like my car will crash or die on me. read more

I have three vehicles, and I take them all up to the Gusher for oil changes, minor mechanical, tune ups, fix a light, whatever. Always quick service, and friendly crew. I swear the same people working their for a couple of years now, you never see that at a chain. Friendly, they recognize me, never pushy about "other" repairs, but politely remind me that they are needed. Great service, prices about average, quick service. read more

Ignore the poor reviews, this is a great spot. Honest folk who give it to you straight. The guys here talked to me about troubleshooting my oil for maximum utility, and not as an up-sell, and then told me about their top-off policy, where they will top off my oil until my next oil change. Had a similar issue to reviewer Kirk R. They seem to do a good job, but service really turned me off. Some guy came up to me and said "air filter too right?." I told him I had only planned on getting an oil changed. Instead of explaining how bad mine was or why it's important, he just said "it's your fuel economy" and walked away. $40 for an oil change is ridiculous. Will not be going back! read more
