The experience has been great. It requires commitment, focus, hard work, and actually doing the work. Anton helped me to focus on recovery and building strength so I could care for myself and my baby. But also loose the excess weight that I don't need on my small frame. I've lost 25 lbs since starting the program, and expect to loose more. I will continue to do this program as it's helped me reach a new level of stretch and establish health eating habits.

I've surpassed my original goal weight, lowered my body fat to healthy (nearly athletic) levels, and feel stronger, more toned, and confident. My clothes fit great, and most importantly, I've been able to stay consistent without feeling burned out or restricted. About 4-6 weeks in, it became clear this program was delivering results I hadn't experienced before, even after working with other trainers. Instead of feeling demoralized, I felt motivated and genuinely excited to show up. Working with Anton (at the new Santa Monica location) has been a huge part of that success. He has an incredible focus on form, education, and accountability, delivered in a way that feels supportive, doable, and sustainable. He's kind but firm, without the ego or machismo you often find in this space, and it's clear he and the entire team are invested in real progress, not just selling sessions. I've learned how to balance training, nutrition, and sleep, and how to fine-tune calories and macros in a way that supports my goals without feeling painfully restrictive. Ultimate Performance is professional, clean, and staffed by knowledgeable, friendly people. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who's busy but willing to commit, work hard, and build true health and fitness as a lifestyle, and not a quick fix.

I have been commuting up to an hour and a half each way, twice weekly, to train at Virtuo since May…read moreof 2023, and I keep battling the 405 because it's worth every minute of traffic. Brandon has created a unique environment that is welcoming to those of us that may not identify as gym bros, and a training philosophy that gives you the tools you need to actually accomplish your goals. It doesn't matter what those goals might be, because Virtuo doesn't adhere to a 'one size fits all' style, and it does not aim to project one singular idea of fitness onto its clients. Over three years, my trainer, Keith, has taught me how to lift heavy, which is something I never thought I would be able to do (I literally couldn't do a body weight squat correctly when I walked into my initial session), much less thoroughly enjoy, and he has helped me develop quickness and athleticism. He balances strength with functional motion, power with endurance, and always provides me with fun, innovative, and challenging workouts. His expertise has enabled me to reach levels of strength and fitness that I figured would be far in my rearview mirror at 41 years old. And, while the strength, speed, and muscle definition are nice, the confidence that I continue to gain from these sessions is invaluable. While Keith is 'my trainer,' all the trainers are highly knowledgeable, enthusiastic and kind. They make an effort to interact with you, even if you're not their personal client. There is a collegiality amongst them; they learn from each other, and you will learn from their collective knowledge. It's an exceptional place, where fitness is both discovered and mastered. Any day at Virtuo is a good day. Sign up - you'll sweat, you'll smile, and you won't regret it.

Toby's an incredible boxer as well and I love getting to learn from him. He's worked on a really great progression of training for me and I always leave feeling great. Where do I start?…read more It's not easy battling the yo-yo of weightloss, and it's intimidating enough to exercise besides a stranger, let alone a personal trainer as fit as a model - but from the beginning Angie welcomed me with a warm smile and an understanding. She's been in my shoes, which means she not only understands the physical part of the journey, but emotional. She cares about her clients and the majority of them have been with her for years. She's in it for the long haul people! Not like those gym trainers that just get some certification from who-knows-where and pick up a pay check. It's been tough for me because I tend to plateau a lot but since I started with Angie, I've lost over 15 inches in total and am still going! And I know even when it's all said and done, we will still be in touch.

When you join you get an eval with a physiotherapist, who then meets with the trainers to determine where you, specifically, need to start building strength. I have never in my life been stronger and we even healed a high school knee injury and a recent disc injury. Sessions are efficient and intensive, 30 min (but you can double up for a 60). For semi private, one trainer guides 3 people doing their own program, so it's completely custom and very hands on re: form, etc. The owners, Wayne and Stephen, have created an amazing program and vibe: Supportive, AUTHENTICALLY positive, with trainers who know what they're doing and are so personable. I have never felt unsafe, even as I advance to things I've never done before. Highly HIGHLY recommended.

A few notes to consider before reading any equinox reviews:…read more* I go to multiple equinoxes in LA and OC. This review leverages the experience of these other equinoxes in mind * Lots of entitled and spoiled people go to Equinox and consider even minor every day hiccups huge inconveniences worthy of the death penalty. They come onto yelp and leave disgruntled reviews. Make sure to adjust for this. Parking (****) - like any gym in LA, real estate is tight and parking validation only lasts for a limited time. Westwood gym is a 2 hour validation and going from the parking to the gym is quick and easy. Above average compared to other gyms. LAFitness right across the street is 90m and you'll spend over 10 minutes getting to and from your car. I still think this is not enough for a gym visit so I take my scooter and dont have to worry about it. I'm surprised there aren't more e-bikes or scooters. Gym layout(***) Also needs the caveat of: like any gym in LA real estate is tight... this means small floor layouts separated by stairs and more stairs. The gym could have been designed with better use of floor space. They have the equipment seprated by type (free weight, assisted) which is unfortunate. It would be better if all the leg equipment was in one place, all the chest equipment in another, regardless of whether it's free weight or not. Still this is just a minor gripe. Customer Service (**) - this is where all the LA gyms suffer. It's just... LA. Compared to the OC gyms the CS is really mediocre but compared to LA it's probably above average. This is probably a plus for busy gym goers that don't want to be bothered with pleasantries but coming from OC, where all the employees give you genuine hellos, smiles, fist bumps, shoot off quirky compliments as you lift, make you feel at home, know you by name...it is kind of dry. Pool (??) - can't really comment as I dont swim but you can see the pics. Not all the LA gyms have a pool so i'm assuming this is a plus. Steam room (***) - just average. The clientelle doesn't quite know how to use the eucalyptus oil spray so it's always musty. Spray that shit constantly on the steam homies. Boxing (*****) - i love this boxing gym. No speed bag but it's a separate room with double end bag, heavy bag, and a tear drop bag. Usually empty. Some people kind of dick around in there for a whole hour but I mostly see people doing efficient hard core works outs and stepping out within 20-30 min. So if you brought your e-scooter, not a big deal to wait for it to open up. Usually empty when i show up Overall this is my go to gym in LA. Occasionally i'll go to culver city or santa monica for a change of scenery but i like this one best.
