This is my 2nd time here. And each time, they try to force me to do what they want me to do. Today, Mike, Kim, and the older guy ganged up on me and we started arguing. All bc I wanted acrylic toenail tips for each big toe bc my nails we're very short, white French tip with glitter polish on top of the white strip and a freaking flower. The older guy, stopped what he was doing and came over to me and started fussing saying, "Every time you come here, you want designs from the internet. We can't do it. It's too complicated." I said, "1st of all, all I wanted was toenail tips, white French tip with glitter polish on the white tip and a flower that LOOKS like a flower. " He said,"OH!" Mind you, this was my 2nd and last time going to them. They didn't listen to me the 1st time and did what they wanted. So, Mike only put a new tip on ONE of my toenails and when I had finally looked up to see the progress, I asked him why he didn't do my left toe. He told me that I never told him--a bunch of LIES. I am 5he wrong race to get service. The way they treat their white customers was a complete 180 of how they treated me. They catered to these two women, who came in after me. They told me to get my polish, but they got up and went in the back and grabbed 6-7 different polishes for each white female. Now, I'm out of $60 and an ugle crappy pedicure. read more

I had been growing out my eyebrows for 1 1/2 months in order to get a great waxing job. I was thinking about going to Joy's or Threads up in DC but they were closed. I found myself in Charlottesville for the weekend and decided to just try this place out. I had a vague memory of going here for an eyebrow wax during my undergrad years, but wasn't sure if that was real or not. I decided to take my chances. I was so happy that I did. I didn't have an appointment and even though the place was pretty packed on the saturday afternoon that I went, I slipped in with a 5min wait. My wax was perfect. It was quick, painless and perfectly shaped. I think I might have to say that it is one of the best shapes that I have ever gotten, and I have been getting my eyebrows waxed for about 7 years now. And it was only $8 I also had a pedicure. This is where they lose a star. Although I thought it was "pretty good," I have had better. I am giving them 3 stars for the pedicure. They didn't spend too much time on it and I felt like the woman was kind of going through the motions. Sure, I would go back if a friend wanted to go, but I think there are better places in the Ville to have this done. The $18 for the pedi is pretty good and so I'm really not going to complain. All in all, I'm really happy with this place. It's in an easy to overlook location, which makes it hard to find. Also, you see the shopping center and go "really??? here???" Giving it 4 stars mostly because I don't have much to compare it to! I literally walked out of Tokyo Rose (which is directly next door) after a nice dinner and spontaneously walked into this salon to check out their pricing. Their simple manicures are only $15, which is pretty cheap compared to what I've seen in other salons I've wondered into. There wasn't a single soul in there except for the workers, but I was only skeptical up until I sat down for the manicure. The lady was very nice and worked thoroughly yet quickly. Honestly my nails looked pretty nice for the price, and they've lasted through the week without chipping, so what else could I have asked for! As someone else mentioned in their review though, they do have a lacking color selection. Mostly darker reds/purples, and you can tell that they haven't bought new colors or replaced their older colors in awhile. read more

Moving back to VA and in preparation for spring it was time for me to break out my dresses, shorts, and skirts which means I like to get my legs waxed because I cannot handle shaving them all spring and summer. I called a bunch of places this morning to get pricing and see if I could get a feel for the type of wax they use and how skilled their aestheticians are. I was in a bit of a rush with lots to do this afternoon and it was either between the spa at ACAC or Perfection. At perfection the woman said that if I did a leg with bikini wax I could get a discount on both. ACAC was $85 for full leg with bikini which is the best listed price I could find anywhere in town. I paid the $85 for full leg with brazilian though which is usually another extra $15-$30 at most places. So anyways... ended up at Perfection cause they could take me immediately so I went over and the place is nothing special and very basic but clean and the staff is really nice. Cindy did my waxing. Very sweet. I've gotten waxed before but it always helps to have someone who makes you feel comfortable when your stripping off your clothes to have someone rip your body hair out. She did a great job and I was there for about an hour maybe total from walking in to walking out. They use Gigi wax and products which are great. I've bought their microwave wax before which I really like too. Although never a completely pain free process she worked fast and smoothly and I didn't think it hurt, its more just a slightly uncomfortable feeling in certain areas where this skin is a bit more sensitive... honestly the worst nail salon in cville. i called and they said if you remove dip and get dip again removal is free. they charged me extra for removal and then one of my nail broke in less than a week. the whole nail came off. dip is suppose to last longer than a week... so i went back to get it fixed and they did not care for me and rushed to finish me and it looked terrible. they charged me again for the repair when on the phone they said they wouldn't. this was one of the most expensive places and lasted the shortest with the worst quality. i don't recommend. i recommend boom boom or serenity nails over this. read more

I love Perfection Nails! The women who work here are lovely and make sure you walk away happy. They really pay attention to detail and and do a very thorough job. After I got a pedicure, I smudged the polish a tiny bit onto my skin, but insisted it was fine. However, they insisted that they fix it to make sure it was perfect, even though it was my fault. 10/10 recommend. read more

I am a new Charlottesville resident and Perfection Nail was my first pedi/waxing experience. The pedicure was well done but the machine drying your nails was broken (what I didn't know) and I left with my nails a little wet... As you can imagine, after a few minutes, my pedicure didn't look fresh anymore.... I also had a bikini and upper leg waxing.. Well, I easily had an appointment and I wanted to try it as it close from home. The cabine was dirty and old. Dive spot on Ivy Road. Standard nail salon to receive manicure & pedis -- waxing as well. My girl did a great job on my manicure. No complaints. Manicures are $13 & and pedicures are $23 I believe. My only issue with this place is that they don't have a great color variety, and the polishes seemed a bit old. I recommend bringing in your favorite polish because chances are they don't have it. I just moved to Charlottesville from Baltimore and was in dire need of a mani/pedi. My friend recommended this place to me. The salon is a hole in the wall off of Ivy Rd. It is not much to the look at from the outside. The inside is very simple. They have about 6-7 massage pedi chairs and about 5 manicure desks. I ended up getting a mani (with shellac) and a pedicure. My experience was awesome. I will definitely return. Pedi - $23, Mani- $13 (+ $18 dollars extra for the shellac). A week later my shellac manicure still looks amazing! I spent an additional $2 (I know, not a huge expense, but still) to get a manicure that would last longer than a traditional polish. Not sure how long "longer" is meant to be, but less than a week before EVERY single nail has cracked or peeled is disappointing and an absolute waste of money. Will not return. read more

I made the grave mistake of getting a bikini wax here. I'd originally had an appointment at Cityspa, but they cancelled on me, so in my desperation I came here. The room where the waxing occurred was dingy, and the waxer stayed in the room while I undressed, which made me very uncomfortable. There was nowhere to put my jeans. I had never been waxed before, and she was very business-like, but almost too much so. Also, she didn't wash her hands when she came in, and she didn't wear gloves. I didn't even realize this until halfway through, and then I panicked about the cleanliness of the place. I didn't get to see if she was using a new dipping stick for each strip of wax, but given the lack of hand hygiene I'm very concerned about potential infection. The whole process took about ten minutes, and then I was on my way. I am now covered in petechiae from hemorrhages under my skin, and I have bruising farther down. Furthermore, she didn't get all the hair. This was pretty much the worst experience ever. Don't go here-- I'm not sure it's safe, and it's definitely not pleasant. read more

Not the most upscale place on the planet, but it works. I thought I'd just post a few of the waxing prices that I saw: eyebrows $8 (so were toes although I doubt anyone out there will be hoping the toe price is in one of the reviews), bikini $25, brazillian $45, and I think full leg was $60. I think if you do combinations, they give you a discount. It's just a small place in a shopping center near Bel Air gas station so you can go drown your brazilian waxing pain in a Jefferson sandwich when it's done. I had a bit of awkwardness with the woman and undressing and such, but I think it was worth it overall and I'll go back. It can only be so pleasant. read more

Worst manicure ever - I came in during a late afternoon, there were two ladies getting pedicures, and everyone else in the salon was sitting around. They seemed annoyed that I came in, and had to distract them from what was apparently the best episode of 'Doctor Oz' ever....they ignored me at the front desk for several awkward minutes. The whole process was rushed, my cuticles looked untouched, and several of my nails were filed extremely crooked. My polish was going on streaky, so the girl doing my nails called over someone to take over. She literally just gave up and pointed me towards the drying station. JUST TERRIBLE!!!! I came in for a pink/white fill in and pedicure. The pedi was ok. Nothing special. But the pink/white was a disaster!!! The man who did my fingernails pushed the cuticles too far back. It was painful. Secondly, he placed the pink powder over the entire nail and then covered my nails with the topcoat. What?!?! Why?!? I've never seen anything like that in my life! I asked him why and did he know that the fill in was just that, a fill in. I told him and some random girl (whose English left something to be desired) that this service was completely unacceptable. She tells me that that's how they do pink/white fill ins. She said that you have to request new nails in order to get what I had when I walked in. Damn!!! She didn't tell me that when I walked in. I told her exactly what I wanted when I walked in, and this sloppy unattractive mess is what I got. I wish you could see my nails! They look like a second grader polished them. No disrespect to second graders. My beautiful nails are now rose colored and ugly. Ive learned a valuable lesson here, stick with what you know. My regular manicurist is in Richmond,Virginia. My big toe is still sore from where the skin was picked off (on the toe itself). I don't understand. I arrived early on a frigid day when one does not want to wear flip-flops outside...in order to get fast and pleasant service as this is a busy place. Somehow my plan backfired because I was given the most junior, incompetent of the three women who work there. She hurt me several times digging into my toes -- in addition to the pain caused by picking my big-toe skin off. She doesn't seem to know what she is doing. Meanwhile, Cindy -- probably the most talented and integrated -- sat on her imperious rump watching an Asian soap opera on her computer at her station. And the middle woman who did an excellent job waxing my legs and eyebrows went back to staring at her android telephone.Leaving me to get a pedicure from a shy, unskilled girl.I know everyone has to learn...but no one was showing her how to give a pedi. I wish Cindy especially, who does seem quite capable, could take a page out of Lynn's book. Lynn was once at one of these walk-in nail places, not even as nice. But Lynn did not resent her clientele for being rich. Lynn was pleasant, a joy to be around, and was a really, really good aesthetician -- maybe from actually practicing on customers. First, she was scooped up to do massages and mani/pedis by the hippest hair salon in town. From there, she was scouted by a very exclusive spa run by two female Plastic Surgeons who do cosmetic procedures. Lynn is a valuable member of the team, appearing in their ads with the doctors, et al. I am sure Lynn is doing quite well. I wish Cindy could know that many of us "rich" b's have often come up from very difficult circumstances ourselves. And we didn't get to where we could afford manis and pedis in the middle of the day by watching soap operas. I am giving the place a one star because the pedi chairs are like sitting in a Mercedes Benz. I have had very good experiences here and hope I will in the future.
