If you are getting married in wine country near McMinville, Rogue is hands-down the best bar and…read morecatering option available. I got married this past Saturday at the Evergreen Air & Space Museum and my guests (and husband) won't stop talking about how much they loved the food. I'd originally contacted a bunch of Portland-based catering companies who had tons of stellar reviews, but their quotes were totally absurd for what they were offering. I work in hospitality and have worked plenty of events, so I thought I'd had a reasonable budget for food and beverage -- but literally NO catering company came close. My reception was during peak July wedding season; they could afford to quote ludicrous prices because SOMEONE would eventually pay. I finally got Rogue through my contact at the Falls/Evergreen Museum. Aside from actually quoting me a reasonable price, here are a few of the MANY other reasons Rogue is amazing: - They're local to McMinville, so they know almost all the venues there and won't charge for gas/transportation like Portland-based companies - Janet (the co-owner and my primary contact) responded to all my emails quickly and in a straightforward way. No form emails. No glossy sales pitch requiring a "consultation call" and time-wasting handoffs through a disorganized event contact. I was literally like, "Here's what I want, and here's my budget. Is this possible?" She responded, "Yeah, we can make that happen, let me send you a proposal/menus for that price point." I'd had calls with 5 other companies and not ONE of them would give me this straight up info. Leading up to the reception we had tons of emails about menu adjustments I wanted and stuff, and Janet was always really on top of it. She's also extremely practical, no-nonsense, and organized... Honestly, that's a rarity in the events industry, where event planners tend to be all charm but can't remember all the glorious promises they made you on the day of your event. - I had a lot of specific things I needed for my menu due to some, ahem, "discerning" guests. I wanted some dishes pescatarian, some vegan, etc. And I personally wanted all of them to be local and sustainable. As an added difficulty, the Space Museum doesn't have any facilities for prep - or even running water. Everything had to be prepped and brought in from off-site. Janet handled all of those requests with aplomb. She even thought of things I hadn't. And everything tasted really, really good! - On the day of the event, her team was super on top of everything. They were very professional and everything was set up on schedule. There isn't a single thing I could criticize about their execution. We even had some last-minute challenges on our end, like the wine we brought for them to serve wasn't chilled because someone on our end dropped the ball, but they were totally adaptable and made everything work. Janet and her chef-husband also operate a restaurant called Subterra in the area, and they've been in the catering industry for a long time. They know what the heck they're doing! If you're where I was this time last year, overhwelmed by catering options and wondering whether planning your own wedding was a tragic mistake and maybe you should just elope so you don't have to deal with the stress of it all, just TRUST ME... Get Rogue on board. Tell Janet what you want and what your budget is (she'll have no problem telling you if it's not feasible... and probably figure out something that IS feasible for you). You won't regret it and this will make everything way easier. I survived planning my wedding reception, and you can, too! Go get 'em, tiger bride-slash-groom!

Take Home Chef Experience with Bay Area native: Joseph Hodgkinson…read more Last October 2006, our director organized a cooking event with Joseph and our department. This gave me the opportunity and encouragement to get back in to cooking through this one on one experience. Although, the food was delicious, I couldn't believe that I cooked it. Thanks Joseph for helping me. For some time now, I've ran out of dinner selections for my personal gatherings at home. Now being single, I have much more confidence to experiment with new dishes and ingredients when i invite guests for dinner. Highilights: Joseph introduces Vegan dishes. Gougere (cheese appetizer), Nicoise Salad (Mediterranean salad), Potato Gratin, and Peach Creme Brulee. Note: I served the Peach Creme Brulee last Thanksgiving and my family enjoyed it very very much! And my father is very selective with his desserts.

The best meal I ever had…read more Joseph was the chef for our proposal celebration and both Vivian and myself have been watering over the food. It was so good it nearly overshadowed the proposal.. He is stellar- just.. stellar.. You *have* to try his new style sashimi but everything was fantastic- from salad, to thai duck noodle soup to rib eye (omg- a basic rib eye should not taste that good-- it felt aged but wasn't) to Mango Ice Cream to Cardamon tea with cinnamon. And besides meal- the service.. everything was set up, put down, whole kitchen was cleaned, even better then when he arrived, the food was served on time, was hot, but not too hot, he kept refilling our glasses, stayed out of conversation, but then would join in if asked or at the right time.. It was.. amazing.. if i could afford him, I would hire him every day. We have already agreed to hire him at least once a year. And he made a menu for us to keep as a momento.... Everything from…read morethe planning, to the flexibility on the menu, to the presentation and aesthetic - they completely nailed our vision. We didn't want to do a traditional sit-down or buffet dinner and worked with Reedville to do more of a food station, heavy hors d'oeuvres set-up for our cocktail party reception. Every single item they made was seriously delicious, not just 'good' - NW salmon cakes, goat cheese tartlets, teriyaki meatballs for passed apps, and the charcuterie presentation was beautiful. Sweet chili shrimp skewers, thai peanut chicken, asparagus risotto, arugula salad, plus two custom items we asked for: pork belly bao buns and fried chicken sliders. Everything was out of this world. When we asked to do pork belly bao buns, they didn't bat an eye or even ask any questions - and then absolutely nailed it. The amount of food was perfect. They also tended bar for us with 2 signatures and a full bar and everyone was happy and drunk the whole evening :) The team was super friendly and professional, and Jessica's responsiveness was lightning fast. We would work with them all over again and highly recommend to anyone.

We weren't sure if we wanted to provide our own alcohol, or have Reedville do it, and Cam was so flexible with us the whole time. She was constantly tweaking little things in their proposal and always promptly answered any questions I had. The food is so good! I had multiple guest come up to me during the wedding and tell me, unsolicited, how good the food was. It was above and beyond many of our guests expectations of what kind of food they would be served at a wedding. My now husband wanted to order excess food on purpose just so he'd have more leftovers, I cannot emphasize how yummy everything was! The day of staff of servers and bartenders were all fantastic as well. While taking pictures during our cocktail hour and away from our guests, all of the servers made sure to bring us the hors d'oeuvres and cocktail each which was super appreciated! Overall I cannot recommend Reedville enough, they were fantastic!

One stressed out wanna be chef (Me) on the mountain needed a bit of help with a Thanksgiving feast for Kings. Busy Bee Catering swooped in and saved the day with their "Sides-Giving" offerings fit for royalty! Their fluffy mashed potatoes and gravy were divine. Their chicken apple sausage stuffing was a show stopper, as was the relish tray (as big as a trough for my goats), roasted vegetables and Fall harvest salad topped with sinfully delicious candied pecans. I feel like getting married again so Busy Bee Catering can handle the food. Thank you so much! You'll be seeing me and my hungry tummy again SOON!

We also used them at Alpine Events for our rehersal dinner with 52 people and the dinner was fabulous and the event space so lovely and personal for our gathering. Jan & Dani even decorated with the runners/candles/banner and flowers that we dropped off while at the rehersal. I can't say enough about them! Janey
