You know how it goes- happy couple, candle light, 105 degree summer day... enchanting. One can't help being swept up in the moment of a intimate family wedding. Yet after having some time to reflect, I have to say that I adore this little chapel built when times were simpler in 1884. It only holds about 100 people, the entirely white interior clad in custom hammered tin shines in the glowing evening sunlight that passes through the stained glass windows. A little stuffy, but surprisingly cool given the asinine recent temperature highs. The surrounding gardens and reception area makes it a picturesque setting in the outskirts of Portland. From the minister walking down the aisle to the ringing of the bells as the bride and groom walk out the doors, it's really a lovely place for a wedding that goes off without a hitch. Yet a little part of me kind of hopes I never come back here, I'd hate to tarnish the memory I've made.

We got in before they got noticed and saved a bundle. A winter wedding here on a cold but sunny day. The sunlight glowing through the original 100+ year old stained glass windows and off the white, pressed tin ceiling and walls. Ivory pews, ivory walls, ivory all. We wore ivory, black and charcoal gray. Decorated with only evergreen boughs and silver urns. Just lovely. Good spot for just-the-couple photos on the front stoop. The owner is sweet as wedding cake ("honey", "sweetheart", etc) but just a bit scatter brained so keep notes and get a receipt. Don't patronize their vendor list for photographers, cakes or flowers--you can do far better elsewhere (see my other wedding related reviews). Bonus Tip: Check out The Antonia Ballroom for your reception needs (just two blocks north and one block east) and that's a good deal as well!

Toward the end of the tour, we looked at the calendar together and discussed the 9th as our date. We left under the impression that everything was settled and came back the next day to confirm it. That's when we were told that the small wedding package is only available Sunday-Thursday and that Saturdays in October were not an option. The representative later acknowledged that the date had indeed been corrected to the 9th while we were looking at the calendar and apologized for not clarifying the Saturday restriction at that time. I understand that the package information sheet stated Sunday-Thursday, but when you're sitting down with the venue representative, going through the calendar and selecting a date together, I feel that an important restriction like Saturdays not being allowed should have been brought up when we selected the 9th. Instead, we found out only when we returned to confirm our date. What was especially frustrating was that we were essentially left having to change our plans because something that should have been clarified during the appointment wasn't. I appreciate that they apologized and acknowledged the misunderstanding, but it was still a very disappointing experience when you're trying to plan something as important as your wedding.

It's quiet, walkable, and has a surprising amount of hotel, shopping, dining and wine tasting options within a just a few blocks. We stayed nearby and were able to walk to this event space from our hotel. The building has a brick exterior and interior with polished concrete floors and natural wood accents. The event space features large indoor and outdoor spaces. And the outdoor space had several seating options, both covered and uncovered with lots of lush landscape and greenery throughout. For this particular event, food vendors were stationed in the outdoor space with covered tents while the wine tasting vendors were stationed inside. Both low and high top tables were setup throughout to allow for a variety of seating and mingling options. The bathrooms are individual stalls with two access points from the interior and exterior which allows for ease of access and flow. I think the layout of the space is great for a variety of functions and I would definitely attend another event at this space. Despite this, they refused to return any portion of our deposit or apply it toward a future event. While I understand contracts exist for a reason, I was shocked at the complete lack of flexibility given how far in advance we canceled -- especially since the venue admitted September is one of their busiest months. To make matters worse, they later booked another event on the same date. That means they not only kept our deposit but also collected full payment from another client -- essentially double dipping on the same date. On top of this, attempts to communicate with Sarah Tynan were very disappointing. After emailing her directly multiple times to appeal for even partial consideration, I was simply ignored. Future clients should be aware: if anything unexpected happens in your life, don't expect compassion, flexibility, or even basic communication. Be absolutely certain before you sign, because once they have your deposit, you will not see it again -- even if they rebook your date and profit twice. After finally reaching someone after 3:30, I was told the kitchen had been extremely busy that day. At that point, I began to suspect the food might not be coming. At 3:49 PM -- just minutes before guests were arriving for a two-hour event -- I received a call letting me know the food had not even been made yet. I was told it might be ready "in a couple hours," and they suggested I order food elsewhere instead. We were left scrambling at the absolute last minute. We ended up ordering pizzas and salad from a local restaurant while family members rushed to the grocery store to put together charcuterie boards in the kitchen as guests arrived. It was stressful, embarrassing, and honestly hard to believe. I have worked in hospitality, events, fundraising, and vendor management since 2008 -- from hotels to nonprofit development work -- and I regularly hire caterers, bartenders, and vendors for professional events. In all those years, I have never experienced a caterer simply not show up and fail to communicate beforehand that they would not be delivering. To their credit, the contact person did apologize afterward and explained they were understaffed and going through staffing challenges. She also stated they would refund the order and help reimburse the replacement food costs. However, nearly a week later, I still have not received the full refund or reimbursement. I understand that difficult days happen in the service industry. What was most disappointing here was the complete lack of communication before the event and the position it put us in as hosts. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not feel comfortable relying on this company again for an event.

I think this place decided to have everything be made brand-new, and kept in tip-top shape. Which is probably the reason why nothing I saw was extremely huge. Not that I need that. They provided outstanding workers though. They were dedicated, did their job well, and were always there. Which is honestly a major plus, in my book. I didn't give this establishment an 8/10 because it's not all Langdon has to offer, but also because 8/10 is the highest I'd be able to do. So having it be just under that rating, is fine by me. Another weird thing...everyone was playing golf. I don't mean that they shouldn't be allowed, but it just was weird having to time pictures after they've moved from the hole. Or taking a picture at a wall. This review may be all over the place, and I apologize. I have nothing wrong with the establishment, I just don't really know how weddings work. Located right next to Bridgeport Village mall it was safe clean central to many different activities for my family. The staff was great from beginning to end. We stayed a total of three nights and coming from Hawaii its ambiance and detailed amenities like the hot tub and fire place made it a serene and relaxing stay and our toddler enjoyed it so much. For the price you can't beat it and it was simply amazing and I'm so glad we booked the deluxe king suite. The breakfast buffet included a wide array of choices and perfect for any traveler whether it's for business or leisure. There was also a silent auction going on in the beautifully crafted lobby with autographed pictures of celebrities and athletes to support cancer research. 10/10 overall would highly recommend and will make sure to stay here again on the next visit!
