Emee and Katherine at EJP Events were one of my favorite parts of the wedding planning and execution process. When I settled on Portland as the site for the wedding, I found and interviewed three planners. Emee was the last I met with and I left sure that she was the one. She had a great energy, was very attentive during our meeting and knew every blog reference I made (and made a few suggestions of new blogs that I fell in love with). For all you pinning/blog-obsessed brides, EJP is for you. No idea during the process was too weird (wanting to block off a city street for the ceremony or having a shotski for the guest book) and no task too mundane (assembling and getting welcome bags to the rehearsal dinner for out of town guests). During the actual event Emee and her team were key in making the event run smoothly. The next morning my mom, stepdad and myself were discussing how we were not sure how we would have done it without her! She set the event up, conducted the ceremony (timing for walking, etc), ran the reception and then cleaned up, only stepping in to ask a question here or there when she needed input from myself or my mom (if the photographer could stay over their allotted time, if we were ready to do our big exit, etc). I am truly impressed with Emee's attention to detail and care in the planning process and I would trust her to plan any other event of mine, hands down. Towards the end I got very stressed with all the details (I was planning an out of town wedding) and Emee has a special approach for frazzled brides. Emee is amazing. We only hired her as a consultant for a single hour, and she produced a comprehensive "to-do" checklist, an estimated line-item budget, AND a great list of possible locations. I cannot overstate the value of the last part for us. She waited to send us her final suggestion list until she'd checked out several of the locations- and we're getting married on the coast (she had another event out there, but still). This allowed us to do much more informed research and have a perfect "shortlist" when we actually had time to get out there ourselves. And while we didn't go with any of the exact locations she suggested, we never would have found our dream spot without one of her ideas. She also completely understood our particular needs and desires, which range the "traditional to weirdo" spectrum. It was immediately clear that she had experience with all types of weddings and tons of good ideas for all possible scenarios at the tip of her tongue. I am a project manager who is detail oriented and all to familiar with how to coordinate events, so I wanted to plan most of the wedding myself. However, I did not want ANY responsibilities the day of my wedding...I just wanted to have a good time. So, I hired Emee for "day of" coordination services, which means she starts planning with you 2 months ahead of the wedding and then swoops in to pull it all together on the actual wedding day. Emee was very calm, organized and professional from the get go, which is why we hired her. She knows the business like the back of her hand and brought up details that I never even thought of. I really enjoyed working with Emee as a wedding coordinator, and highly recommend her and EJP. I have a really demanding job and was traveling a lot. I was able to get the big picture items done like choosing the location and vendors, but I really needed help with the details, the coordination and the day of. She asked all the right questions and made good recommendations to help fill in the gaps, including bring on awesome day of staff and organizing other helpers. EJP is a fantastic company that did wonders for our wedding. We made the decision to hire a coordinator pretty late in the planning process - about a month before the wedding date - and in that short time, EJP seemingly did a million things to make everything run smoothly and let us just enjoy the wedding. Among the many services EJP provided were: -Created a master plan document with detailed timelines, vendor contact information, and instructions -Coordinated with all of our other vendors and smoothed out any issues -Dealt with a misinformed audio vendor who thought we had hired them (could've been stressful, but Katherine took care of the whole thing) -Worked with the venue to make ensure proper set-up of chairs, tables, etc. -Brought us a snack before the ceremony -Led the rehearsal -Provided general advise and showed amazing patience as we asked ten thousand questions about various wedding minutiae. The people at EJP know the wedding industry backwards and forwards. For example, when my wife had a dress emergency just days before the wedding, they knew the perfect seamstress who could come to the rescue. Unfortunately we did not have a good experience with Emee. Based on all the other positive reviews, I wonder if something outside of work was impacting her ability to do her job effectively during the time she worked with us. Or perhaps she is very good at coordinating, but not at long term planning. We contacted her 11 months before our wedding. Emee started out strongly enough, but by the time it was ~3 months before the wedding, she was disengaged, frequently late, and was not proactive. She's a very nice, likable person, but we found ourselves having to bypass her because she was not timely. We also had to prod her several times in order for things to get planned. For our welcome picnic, it was 5 weeks before the event and my (now) husband had to prod her to help us narrow down a location. She sent us a list where we actually visited and decided upon a location two separate times (with one of them we actually met with Emme to plan the design and layout) that we later found out were not available. Some research in advance could have avoided this. At 3 weeks before the wedding we had no lunch location which was very stressful. I will say the coordination portion of the wedding seemed to go much better than the planning. The day itself went just fine. If we could do our wedding again, we would go with a different wedding planner due to all the planning stress that we hoped to entirely avoid, but instead we ended up taking over a lot of it ourselves. read more

December 12, 2015 Wedding in Portland. Emee and her able assistant Katherine were so helpful , so awesome, so calm. My daughter and I and her father had such fun planning the wedding along with our wonderful son in law no small part due to having Emee and her team. The first time I met with Emee, we said, absolutely can't do this without her. At all times, she was positive, reassuring when we were puzzled from her recommending vendors, suggesting ideas that worked, to providing the tea lights we forgot for the candles at the church. At the reception, to know we could enjoy the music and the whole event without worrying about the favors, the voodoo donuts, the who and what and when . The members of our group were complete novices when it came to holding a conference. Luckily, we hired Emee and were able to pull it off. Emee and her team guided us through the whole planning process and then through the event itself. They not only had to handle the needs of 20 speakers coming in to Portland from all around the world, but also the needs of attendees. They did so and made it seem effortless (which I know it wasn't). Our event lasted two and half days and they were the whole time making sure that things continued to run smoothly. Emee and her team are amazing! They are professional, responsive, creative, and wedding life savers! The first thing on the wedding list was to find a coordinator and Emee was the first choice out of 4 interviews and countless reviews of other coordinators. She had a very calm and collected demeanor while also being enthusiastic and provided a lot of ideas that fit within our budget. Emee also acted as a mediator between the differing ideas my husband and I had, in a very compassionate way. We really wanted a coordinator that would take care of the craziness that can happen behind the scenes so that my husband and I, as well as our family members, wouldn't have to worry about it. She was very kind and professional and spoke with me on the phone for ~20 minutes about my wedding and then emailed me some sample budget information. She helped me realize that based on my needs, I really didn't need a wedding planner. Yet I am reviewing the company here based on the fact that they were honest, did not try to convince me that I needed their services no matter what, and were extremely helpful, even though I used only their complimentary services. I opted for the "day of" service since I really just needed help at the end, paying vendors, set up and the overall orchestration of the day. My wedding was chaotic and stressful BUT I didn't have to deal with any of it because Emee had it covered...my maid of honor didn't show up so Emee rearranged the main table and had my new maid of honor walk down the isle with two escorts. I was asked to help coordinate a wedding and reception just a mere 2 months before the actual wedding date. As I live in Southern California and the wedding was in Oregon, I searched Yelp and came across EJP Events that seemed to have some outstanding ratings. I soon found out that these ratings were well deserved. I contacted EJP and Emee got back to me within a day or so. She quickly put my mind at ease by letting me know that she could handle the wedding within the allotted time and quickly set out to find out what exactly I was looking for. I gave her a brief rundown on my thoughts for the event and she took over from there. With just a couple of e-mails and a phone call or two, we showed up in Oregon on the wedding date and everything was EXACTLY as we wanted it. Although we already had the venue for the wedding, Emee put together a fabulous caterer that served excellent food, a baker that created a best cake I have ever seen, along with cookies, cakepops and cupcakes for a sweets table, delivered a photo booth that was a real hit, brought in one of the best string quartets I've ever heard, arranged for flowers, hired a DJ, set up limousine transportation, handled all the table decorations according to our colors.... the amount of "stuff" she did to make this day fabulous is endless. I could not be more impressed with the work that EJP and Emee did for us....even if we'd given her a year's notice I could not have asked for more.
