I thought she might have done "something" to him too- The vet found nothing wrong- I now believe a dog can work themslves up to a seizure if very nervous.

Daniel is amazing!! I have a doberman Nova who is reactive and I needed a lot of help with her…read more Daniel has helped me so much! I have been to another trainer before and what Daniel has taught me is so different. The way he is able to see the dog's body language, explain it to me, and react to it properly is crazy! He is very thorough and makes sure you understand what's going on before moving on. I have seen such a difference in Nova and her behavior even just after the first week, it's like two completely different dogs. Daniel is someone I would recommend to anyone struggling with their dog and I will never use anyone else for my future dogs.

We have a 100+ lb, 8-year-old German Shepherd named Tore with serious anxiety and aggressive…read morebehavior. He is a very intelligent dog and generally very obedient unless there is a stranger or another dog nearby, in which case he would become completely uncontrollable. We had paid many positive reinforcement oriented trainers to help us out when he was younger and less aggressive, which helped establish the obedience but did little to curb the impulse control and aggression. He was manageable for the first 5 years or so, but as we had kids and they got older we prioritized working with him less and less and he regressed into a very bad state. Up until about 6 months ago the aggressive behavior had never been targeted towards our family, however we had an incident where he gave my son a warning bit on the hand. My son had reached out to grab his collar to try to bring him inside and he didn't want to go. The bite was definitely a warning and not intended to do damage, but still left a rather deep puncture wound and an even deeper relationship damage between the kids, my wife, and the dog. Our vet recommended euthanasia. We contacted numerous trainers who were either unwilling or incapable of working with him due to his age and the bite incident. We finally happened upon Daniel who was provided to us as a reference from one of the trainers who said no. Daniel was the breath of fresh air that we needed. After a brief consultation, he very calmly and clearly explained the root cause driving Tore's behavior, much of which was frankly on us, which we expected. He felt confident Tore could be rehabilitated and that he could teach us how to manage him long term. Daniel accepted Tore into his 6-week board & train program where he takes the dog M-F, gives him back for the weekend, then starts again on Monday. Throughout the program Daniel provided updates on progress and was always available for questions. While this was not an overnight magic wand, we noticed an immediate and significant difference from that very first weekend that Tore was back in the house. We are now wrapping up week 7, the first week after conclusion of the program, and Tore's presence in this house is a night and day difference. There are still hiccups (he is 8 after all), we've had the growling incidents when he doesn't want to comply, and he still gets worked up at strangers and expresses anxiety in certain situations, but the key is that it is now manageable, and we can get it to stop without having to throw him in a different room. Further, it gets more quickly managed with each passing day and incident where Tore is put to the test. Do not get me wrong, Daniel will not help you if you are not willing to put in the work, and it is a lot of work. Full Stop. But I firmly believe that this man can rehabilitate any dog if the owner holds themselves accountable to the structure of the program. I appreciated Daniel's communication style, once I opened the door for it our conversations took on a more casual tone that I enjoyed. I felt and continue to feel that Daniel truly cares about Tore and has a passion for what he does. He provided quite a few add-on services that most would have charged for and he didn't. For example, he helped us manage Tore for a vet visit to take a look at a potential leg injury (in-office vet visits were something I frankly didn't think would ever be possible for this dog). He also offers boarding services at a very reasonable rate for his clients which is a huge win for us (he's boarding Tore for us this weekend so we can go see family for Thanksgiving). Highly recommend Daniel's services...and bonus - you're supporting a veteran owned business if you hire him.

My husband and I could not be more thrilled with the results of a board and train experience at K9…read moreMastery for our Belgian Malinois mix, Zeus. At the end of 2022, I became pregnant and we started to notice more territorial and protective behaviors in Zeus. He was 1.5 years old at the time and still demonstrated intermittent destructive behaviors every couple of months. He also had a traumatic experience with crate training as an 8 week old puppy where he escaped and ended up sustaining a complete fracture of his leg. Due to this event, we had not been successful with crate training because of his anxiety. We tried increasing his exercise, using mentally stimulating toys, hiring a trainer who came to the home, and gradually re-attempting crate training. None of these efforts worked and Zeus' behaviors worsened. We had two incidents where Zeus bit another dog in the dog park that backs up to our home (which he thinks is part of our property) and where he barked at and cornered a 10 year old boy. My husband and I lost hope and, as our due date approached, we made the very difficult decision to post Zeus on a re-homing page. The next day after making the post, we had someone interested in taking Zeus. On that same day, a good friend recommended we send Zeus to K9 Mastery and generously wanted to gift us the opportunity. Christie was extremely accommodating in taking Zeus on short notice due to the urgency of the situation with our first baby arriving in a couple months. Zeus stayed at K9 mastery for 6 weeks and we got weekly updates. He was a handful when he first arrived as Christie dealt with his extreme separation anxiety and fear of the crate. Despite Zeus somehow escaping a heavy duty crate, digging under the fence, and chewing through dry wall, Christie did not give up on Zeus. She tried a variety of techniques ("puppy" heartbeat next to his crate, CBD oil, a steel welded crate, increasing his exercise in addition to training, etc.) to help get him past his separation and crate anxiety. Things got better as the weeks went by and when we arrived to pickup Zeus, we saw a new dog. Christie gave us the tools to adequately meet his mental and physical needs in a way that worked for our family and lifestyle. She taught us how to take control and lead Zeus so he doesn't feel the need to dominate and protect. In the several months that we've had him home, we have not had any issues with destruction, crate training, or aggressive behaviors with people coming into the home. He maintains the boundaries we've instilled with the new baby. We've received several compliments from strangers and neighbors while we've been out with Zeus on his excellent obedience. He listens despite distractions (food, toys, other dogs, loud noises, sudden movements, and his ultimate weakness, squirrels). We are so grateful to Christie for allowing us to keep our dog. Our home would not be the same without him and his sweet, goofy, and loving personality. We highly recommend K9 Mastery for all your dog training needs! Thank you, Christie, for your dedication to the dogs you train and your thoroughness in how you conduct your business!

Earlier this year, my pup Ryder was viciously attacked by two large dogs who slipped out of loose…read moredog collars as we passed them at the park. Fortunatley he healed well after two weeks of dedicated TLC but the trauma of the experience remained with both him and me well after Ryder physically healed. I reached out to Matt for virtual dog training appointments to help us through that, and his guidance and great wisdom around dog psychology and behavior and deep empathy for Ryder and in general made such a huge impact. I learned from Matt how to help Ryder through his fear and trauma and how to recognize when he was experiencing trauma (for example, he developed a new and strong fear of rumbling engines). By applying Matt's empathetic practices, Ryder has become much less fearful, is no longer afraid of rumbling engines or playing with other dogs and he's back to his old happy, playful, super enthusiastic and friendly self!! :) Matt also greatly helped my dog Ellie through the excessive anxiety that resulted from my marital separation and helped us learn what an impact the breaking of that social bond had on her and how to address it! We now give her the extra attention she needs when doing hand offs to switch between homes. Thank you so much, Matt working with you has made a WORLD of difference in Ryder and Ellie's quality of life!! :)
