Hidden in plain sight, really, as it's just across the street from a Yelper fave, Big Star Sandwich. Frankly, I'm heartened there's now another MCM-focused vintage store in town! Packed into the Lab's small space is a number of nifty teak sideboards, record cabinets, chairs and other Danish modern furnishings and housewares for my soon-to-be groovier living room. Prices compare favourably to the *other* MCM store, and the proprietors here seem really nice and friendly and enthusiastic about their wares.

There's plenty of mid century furniture to choose from and upon inspection of some of their refinished items, they do an incredible job. Like with vintage and hard wood furnitures, some of the pieces are not cheap but they're unique and will last a long time. The other plus to this store is their kitschy (and sometimes original) art pieces and tchotchkes. I prefer this place to the shop in the Quay so I'll most likely come back as a few items tweaked my fancy (especially the sunburst table) and I'll be sure to let people know about this place.

It is jacked up by over 50%, with many doubled of what you pay in the Muji stores in Asia. If you do travel often to Japan or to Asia, it may be better to just shop there. Well, unless you intend to buy big items like furniture. Final sale items are not refundable for either cash or store credit. So think very carefully before purchasing anything. I will suggest to do a quick online price check first. Even the sale items are still more expensive than in Muji stores in Asia.

Reputable glass shops regularly repair the connections and/or replace the window when necessary. We called Crystal Glass and spoke to the receptionist Heather and fully explained the situation giving the year, make and model of our car. We asked if Crystal Glass could properly diagnose the problem and give us a free estimate on how much they would charge to repair it. Heather said we would have to bring the car in and one of the technicians would have a look at it and see what it would need to repair. We said we would bring it in and Heather booked an appointment for us for the next morning. We drove both of our cars over to Crystal Glass so that we could leave the one for idiagnostics by one of the technicians. As soon as we got there the receptionist Heather came out and said they would not take the time to check what was wrong and that they would not do the diagnoses and quote we agreed to. Heather is no technician and no tests, no visual inspection of connections and no diagnostics were done. They totally wasted our time and gas for 2 cars to drive to Crystal Glass and back. I poke to Nick (apparently the manager) and all he did was make feeble excuses why they did not do what was necessary to diagnose the problem. Nick then said they would replace the entire rear window, which is likely totally unnecessary, but would not guarantee any of the work. The only way it could be determined IF the whole window needed to be replaced would have been to do the correct diagnostic work we had brought the car in for. DISHONEST AND UNREPUTABLE

I talked to Nick at Crystal Glass Canada over the phone and he was very friendly and helpful. Today I brought my vase into their shop in Burnaby and Nick repaired it flawlessly for free of charge. One of the boxes arrived completely destroyed and contained random parts from three different systems. We contacted customer service immediately and made multiple calls over the span of two months -- often waiting on hold for hours -- and were repeatedly assured the issue would be resolved. After all that wasted time and effort, we were told that the only option was to disassemble everything and return the items for a refund -- as if they were doing us a favor. By that point, the units were partially assembled and the boxes were long gone, which any reasonable customer would expect not to need anymore. They refused to reimburse us for the packaging or offer any alternative solution. Given the amount of time we already spent trying to resolve this issue, the company should have issued a full refund without requiring further inconvenience. Instead, they asked us to spend even more time disassembling the product and arranging shipment, which shows a complete lack of respect for their customers' time and effort. Disorganized, unprofessional, and dishonest. Stay far away from this company.

Unfortunately, I have come to suspect that these guys are a semi-scam company selling seconds that other reputable sellers have rejected. The whole delivery was a disaster with the guys leaving black finger prints on the white upholstery and then becoming increasingly impatient to leave despite the 'white glove delivery' in which they say that they will set everything up. They were halfway out the door when I pointed out that several items were missing. After more back and forth it turned out that 2 items 'are still coming' and 2 items were lost by the delivery company (if I hadn't noticed I hate to think how this would have turned out). They left half of a bookshelf in the middle of my living room and left the place with debris strewn everywhere. As soon as they left I checked on the drawers on the dresser and they are all stuck, one worse than the others. I sent an email to customer service about the black handprints and the faulty dresser and the response was just that the 'new dresser was stiff' (no acknowledgement of the handprints-photos attached). In the meantime I had been looking at the dresser and noticed that it has a significant visible sag in the middle which is crunching the drawers together at the centre seam. I sent another email with photos and, this is where I realized that this company is really shady, here is their reply: "What we're seeing appears to be drawer alignment and settling, which can occur with solid wood furniture after transit and during initial placement. This type of issue is typically correctable through minor adjustment or leveling rather than requiring a full replacement, and structurally, the pieces remain sound." They offered a 10% refund for an unusable product. I could go on but you get the point.

I started sending emails asking what is the status of my order. They replied that they are preparing the order, it will be shipped in the next few days and I will receive a tracking number. After a few days of silence, I sent another email inquiring about the shipment. The response was that they found out the top of the table is damaged and this was their last one. Told me they will issue a refund and asked me to send them my credit card number. Absolutely unprofessional and incompetent, to the point where I wonder if this is a legit store or they are a bunch of scammers.

Unfortunately the prices all seem 50 cents to many bucks more than the other dollar stores in this area.
