He first spent about 30 minutes checking the unit, then gave me the price and left to buy the part. After that, he spent another 2.5 hours fixing his car before coming back. When he returned, he spent less than 30 minutes repairing the unit and then rushed to leave because he had another job. While he was here, he complained that the attic was too hot and even asked for help fixing his car. The AC worked right after he repaired it, but it stopped working again within 30 minutes. Since he had already left, I contacted him and asked him to come back to fix it again. He came back the next day but did not really do anything. He said the unit was making sound and running. He didn't even go up to the attic to double check again. so he claimed the outside unit needed to be cleaned. He then quoted me $400 per unit, for a total of $1,200 to clean three units, which I believe was extremely overpriced. I told him to clean only one unit first so we could see if the AC would work, but he refused and left immediately. On the same day, I had to call another company to schedule service. I paid another $200 for the repair, plus $290 to clean the outside unit, and the AC has worked without any issues since then. The other specialist told me that DC Air had installed the replacement part in the wrong area, which caused the unit to stop working again. I found this company on Yelp and saw that it had a Yelp Guarantee, but after this experience, I no longer trust these so-called reviews and guarantees. They were very quick to show up and the worker was very polite and professional. However, getting quoted $550 for replacing a stopper was a bit much. When I balked at the price I then asked about another issue with the tub (my son had dropped a small toy down the drain a few week ago) I was quoted $220 to get the toy out. I then balked again at the price since it should just be a matter of checking the trap. When I said I would prefer not to move forward with the work, I was then told that these were worst case prices. I then asked it we could just do hourly instead of a fixed quote and the answer was "if I start to use my machine, we can't do hourly anymore" I understand that plumbing isn't cheap, but $770 to get a toy out and fix the stopper (the thing that stops water from going down) seems a tad too much.
