Stumbled upon this nail salon while I was trying to pass some spare time, on my way to Chatime as it is located right beside the Chatime on Dundas. I was not expecting much since my previous shellac was all peeled off and I just wanted to find a place to do a quick mani. I walked in an was immediately greeted by friendly staff. Honestly, I walked by this place so many times and I always thought eh, not sure if I want to go inside. For only $30 (tax included), i got a full shellac manicure (and removal of previous colour) in less than an hour. I thought this was a pretty good price for a downtown location. The staff were really accommodating, even though their English wasn't good they tried really hard to help me find the colours i wanted. The shellac was not clumpy and there is absolutely no flooding near my nail beds. For the price, i think it was a pretty well done job. But if youre looking for a high end shellac or gel mani/nail art i suggest you look elsewhere. read more

I stopped by Perfait Spa for a shellac mani since I was in the downtown core and I was looking to kill some time. Located a short walk from both Dundas and St. Patrick's stations (close to Pablo, Uncle Tetsu's, and Chatime), I walked into the spacious salon with a couple customers already sitting at the manicure stations, but they were able to take me right away. First impression was that the place was clean, and that their selection of polishes isn't the biggest I've seen, but it was big enough to make me contemplate a polish colour for a good 5 minutes. They have glittery polishes, as well as your standard colours, and it should be noted that their "shellac" is actually gel polish. It's been mentioned in other reviews that the employees are on their phones or doing other stuff before greeting you, which I did experience, but I wasn't bothered by it. They still greeted me, they were polite, and my nail tech, Belle, was great, so being on their phones when I got there was something I could brush off. There's only one TV in the salon though, so during the service, if you're not one to talk to your tech or just like to occupy yourself during the service by watching the news, hope that you'll be lucky enough to see it. The tools used are sealed and opened in front of you. Another option would be that the tools, I assume, are sterilized in a disinfecting machine in front of you as this machine is in the middle of the manicure stations. Belle asked what shape and length I wanted, checking with me along the way, which I appreciate. She showed me only half of the colors that they have, which were mounted in a spiral. The other colours were in a basket and brought out by another nail tech when her customer couldn't decide what colour to choose. No issues for me here since I'm super lax and consistent with my white/light beige polish, but I took 5 mins to consider other colours (I still chose light beige). Belle was gentle throughout the service. No bleeding, no nicks, just clean cuticles. She was EXTREMELY fast. I found my left hand being under the light much longer than my right, but my nails look the same for both hands. She also buffed my nails after the third coat of polish to smooth out any bubbles/bumps, and added the top coat. Not sure if this is normal, but I mean my nails look pretty good and smooth, so I'm not complaining. Service also included a hot towel and hand massage as a mani usually does. The price for my mani was $30. From their signs inside a shellac mani pedi would have been $50, and a regular mani pedi would have been $35. All in all their prices are competitive and hover around the average prices you'd see at other salons. If you pay with cash, you pay flat rate. Card transactions have additional taxes, again, something you'd see at other nail salons. Considering I visited Perfait on a whim, I'm satisfied with the overall result. If you're in the area and looking for a quick mani, I'd definitely give it a shot. read more

Came in on a Saturday evening, they weren't as busy and had an excess number of staff. I got the mani pedi ($35) and was serviced by 2 people at the same time. The lady who did was pedicure didn't speak much English but was very careful and paid attention to detail. No complaints here. The gentleman doing my manicure however, wasn't as careful. He breezed through the mani and didn't bother with loosening up the polish (it was almost done and drying quickly upon contact). This was exactly the Canadian nail experience that I was looking for. I woke up absolutely nerve-racked, devastatingly fearful that I may not be able to get a French manicure as fresh as the the very hands that would wear it. Thank the Canadian gods and furious politicians above that they have allowed this nail salon to stand as a monument to all Canadian hands across this great health care for free nation. I have now received the French manicure. I hate how fresh I am. Sometimes it is deeply depressing, affecting to the point of me not being able to get out of bed for hours at a time, sometimes even minutes. But today, on the eve of my three shows for JFL Toronto, I love the too too fresh style on the very appendages that separate us from the beasts. People, run don't walk from this dodge place. My husband bought me a $70 gift certificate because it's near work. THEY WOULD NOT HONOUR the gift certificate. First they tried to tell me that I could get that certificate anywhere despite the fact that it is not generic but clearly has their logo/name on it. Am I fucking photoshop wizard? nope. Then they said it was a problem that it was not signed. I am just giving them what I was given. I am sure my husband had no idea that it had to be signed. Then they told me that they took over ownership from the previous owner. Ummm...if you take over a business should you not maybe honour the gift certificates of the clients? finally they offered me a 'discount' (eye roll). An amazing team of employees! Very talented and friendly! Linda spent a good 2 hours making sure of a great outcome and it did not disappoint! I went in for a manicure with some jewels, and I fell in love with the outcome! Linda also had a great sense of humour which added to the experience! I usually don't write a review on anything but this is something I need to inform the spa about or anyone that wants to do their nails in this location. My friend and I did our nails today and we actually called in for an appointment. My friend asked if they could do a UV Gel Nail and a pedicure. The person on the phone said that they weren't able to do the UV nail gel at first because the lady that does the nail wasn't in the salon. But suddenly, the woman on the phone said that someone could do it. So we decided to go ahead with the appointment. The staff were friendly and welcoming and was assisted quickly. However, the woman that did my gel nail was very sloppy, she was getting the gel at the back of my nails. It was so ridiculous because I NEVER had this problem in any nail salon I go to. So I told the woman to remove them.. she obviously tried to, but the gel was harden already so she couldn't get the gel off of it. By removing it, she also got some of my nails ruined (the shape). Also, it wasn't just one nail it was in four of my other nails. So I suspected that this was not the woman that did the gel nail. I also showed the woman the shape I wanted before starting them (coffin nail) and it didn't look like the one I wanted. Some nails are too narrow and my cuticle wasn't properly removed. The gel was just all over my nails.. So, next time you go to this location. Make sure it was the RIGHT UV gel woman. If that was the gel woman.. then it sucks. This place is ok. It's close to my work and always packed so they must be doing something right... My pedicure was decent, although there was a lady beside me who looked like she had a fungal infection and they didn't line the foot basin. Gross. I've seen people turned away for fungus. The lady doing my shellac manicure cut my nails down WAY to short so my skin is visible above my nail. I'm unclear why she did this. She kept leaving me to answer the phone or greet walk ins. Also the OPI nail dryer was awkwardly placed and balanced on my lap so I was hoping it didn't fall into the water and electrocute me to death. Not in love with the manicure because after 5 coats it looks too thick and like I have smarties glued to my finger tips. read more

Didn't ask me if I would like something else or offer any other services. I said okay I will just do gel then. He just stared at me and said something in Vietnamese. Another women came out and asked me what I wanted - I explained I wanted an acrylic fill but I was cool with gel. My favourite nail salon in Toronto! I've been coming here for a number of years now and Connie does the best nails. I've been to other nail salons as well but nothing beats this one because I always come out satisfied with the results. I get shellac and the services are done hygienically by polite technicians. The worst manicure I have ever gotten. Went inside with my sister for 2 manicures on a weekend but there were only 4 staffs working. Took a while to pick a nail polish color because most of them were either light pink or dark unappealing colors. My sister and I both picked an essie brand nail polish and sat down in front of the table and waited for a bit. A lady (who does not speak a word of English and kept asking her colleague how to say something in English for her) started my manicure and she tried to tell me it costs extra $5 to use the essie nail polish so I told my sister to pick another brand for me while she waits (tho I wished she would tell me before she started the manicure so I can go pick another color myself) Before she started painting the base coat on my nails, she wiped acetone to clean off the lotion/oil she used for the manicure and it stung my open sore on my thumb and it started bleeding (I have a bad habit of ripping my cuticles). I expected the bleeding, no big deal, wasn't a lot. BUT what surprised me was that she managed to paint around the blood instead of trying to clean it off (with a Q-tip, cotton pad or at least asked me to do it but she already started painting my other hand). She completely ignored it and all she said when she saw the bleeding was "oh". That I can ignore but what happened next was even more frustrating and I never want to come here anymore. There was a large bubble after the first coat of polish on my thumb and I stopped her before she was able to paint the second coat and asked her to try and fix the bubble. She painted over it anyways and hoping the bubble will pop (but it didn't). She tried to scrape it off which made it so much worst so she wiped the whole thing off and start over. The second time, she put top coat too early and it smudged the nail polish so she wiped it all off again. I was pretty annoyed at this point and hoping she doesn't mess up again but she still managed to leave a large bubble right in the middle of my nail and at that point, I gave up and left it that way because I needed to be somewhere and I was already late. I never have that bad experience to do my nail, I called in the morning to take appointment they said I can be there at 12pm , after 5 mins they called back ask me to go there at 11:40am , because the nail artist have appointment at 12:30pm. I already asked them will he be to rush to do my nail because I need to take off the bio gel and do acrylic new set , I knew that need to take more than an hour, and she said don't worry , he is the best and can finish my nail . I went there at 11:35 am , I still need to wait around 20 mins , then why they ask me to go at 11:40am , then started take off my bio gel , supposed can soak it off, and he used the tool to pull it up, I felt so hurt , my nail was "damage "because he pull the gel up !!! Then at 12:30 pm his next appointment arrived, he was so rush to file my nail , my cuticle was so hurt , now I left I can see are all the blood around , and I asked for no colour only clear , now look like grow one week already!!and they charged me $5 for only clear !!I won't suggest anyone go there get the nail appointment!! I went here based on a great review I read on this app. What a disappointment... It could have been bad luck or just a bad day for the workers in this place. But I actually didn't get to stay for any services because of how horrible their customer service was. Terribly dry and annoyed greeting. Not a clear estimated waiting time. Barely communicated with me and after 15 mins someone grunted at me to sit at a station, and then ignored me for a little while. Forget it. I got acrylic nails done here a few times. It's always the guy who does it and he hits the nail on the head everytime (pun intended). He works super fast which can be a bit unnerving given that they use those electric tools, so feel free to ask him to slow down. But he knows exactly what I want each time and listens to me (I hate it when they try to tell you what looks good! Do not come here. If you want regular nail and foot polish then yes it's a safe bet, but if you're looking for gel nails do not even try it. The woman who did my nails basically ripped off my old gel nails and even though I had asked specifically for gel nails not once was the UV light used. Don't get confused ladies, if you're asking for gel nails (even as just a base without shellac nail polish) you should be using a UV light to cure it. It was my first time at Perfait and I LOVED their service. My usual go-tos are Urban Nails and Nailsense, and this salon is on par with them in service. The prices are reasonable for a decent job, $35 for a mani-pedi. They did a marvelous job fixing my nails after the terrible job Yeti Nail Salon did. The Perfait ladies are very friendly and attentive in ways more so that my usual go-tos. The location is unbeatable 7 min streetcar ride from work for a lunch time primping and relaxation. I came to this place a few times to get my nails done. Peter does a great job doing nails, and the pedicures are okay, but could be better. The real reason for the 2 stars is because they are always changing the prices of their service. The first time i got my nails done, they charged me $30 for a refill, which was fine. The second third and forth time they continuously told me different prices for my nails, in which now for a fullset if average length, is $40! I am displeased with the ever changing price rates, and i believe that i can get a full set else where for cheaper. read more

Love this place! I've had gel nails for 4 years and have been to many nail salons. This place is by far my favourite. Peter takes the time to make sure every nail is even and well done. If you are going, it is best to call in and make your appointment for that day - do not book ahead. They are not good with different day appointment reservations.
