A hidden gem. I was shocked that this placed wasn't absolutely packed. The view is 100. The food is 10/10 and the service is 5-star. Our water glasses never got below half full & our server was super nice. We ordered 3 of the small plates and the tropical torte for dessert and were perfectly full. (I was also very happy to see that they use hay straws as opposed to plastic.) Seriously our favorite place in the area for great food, stylish atmosphere with a gorgeous water-front view and fantastic service. Excellent service even better food. Very high quality dishes in a world of fried shrimp baskets. This place has excellent fresh fish choices, steaks and appetizers are amazing. My fiancé rarely encourages me to leave reviews but we both agreed that this one was necessary. With so many options in the area, do not waste your time here. The wait staff was quite curt. Even bringing our dessert before we had finished our entrees. We saw this happen to another table as well, so it wasn't a one time thing. The live music was no where to be found. And the food was... bad. The best thing we ate were the roasted truffle hazelnuts on our charcuterie board. We tried the garlic shrimp and it was so spicy it was inedible. Pot de creme was passable but if you ruin chocolate that's a crime deserving only one star. I'm sure the view was lovely, but it was pitch black when we were there. Hope you have a better experience if you choose to spend your money there. read more

We ate here two nights on our trip. Would have gone again but they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The atmosphere, view, service, and food were all top notch. Gorgeous location and amazing food! The service and staff were friendly and well trained. The food was cooked to perfection, especially the snapper with buttery cabbage and creamy saffron rice. The tender pork chop was delicious with apples and pecans glaze over mashed potatoes. The chef, Adam, came out to chat with us and make sure everything was delicious. Our server Tavarius was excellent and made great recommendations. There is a huge back deck overlooking the Gulf with 2 comfy lounge areas with gas fire pits. The nice bartender offered to make us anything we could dream up from his fully stocked selection. The s'mores dessert was beautiful and delicious. Had perused the menu on yelp prior to arriving. Had a plan of what what we were eating before arrival. Was very interested in trying the whole lion fish. Should have suspected something when the hostess asked, "You know it's just the bar?" Yes, we have looked at the menu. We were seated and given menus, that did not include half of the options we had seen on the website. Covid strikes again! Reduced staff, reduced menu, reduced options. We decided to have a couple of appetizers and eat dinner elsewhere. The smoked tuna dip was very good and the Frito Misto(tempura fried vegetables were good, a little greasy but the veggies were fresh)! Wait staff was very personable and did a great job. Staying at the Lodge with my wife we checked out the Perch for dinner. - Ambiance and view - absolutely fabulous. - Friendly and competent wait staff. - In terms of value, prices are significantly more than what you'd pay in town for the same, but expected for an on property restaurant. We decided to order several appetizers vice a main course. We ordered sea scallops, onion rings, crab/corn soup and New Orleans style shrimp. - Good: 3 large Sea scallops were cooked to perfection! Couldn't have executed any better. - OK: Onion rings were just fine. Nothing much to say about them. Not memorable. Wouldn't ever order again. - Bad: The advertised spicy New Orleans style shrimp had no spice whatsoever. The shrimp were cooked and prepared just ok and bland. Serious disappointment. The crab/corn soup was very bland. No identifiable crab. Severely lacking salt and flavor. These 2 iconic foods of the gulf lacked inspiration. Overall nice place but for the premium paid - Not worth it and won't be coming back. read more

Stayed at the Hilton and they have this amazing restaurant that amazing! I couldn't make a decision but when I did the server Tara (who is so kind) told me that my selections were popular and she also loved them. I love when people make recommendations that they have eaten. I had the octopus and it was one of the best dishes I have eaten. It was cooked perfectly. The crusted tuna was amazing. I got it cooked a little more. Service was excellent. Ask for Tara. She was so kind and made me feel so welcome as someone dining alone! read more

Perch gave us our favorite meal last year in the Gulf Shores/Orange Beach area last year; however, this year it did not live up to the memory. Beyond the fresh, raw oysters, the rest of the meal would not demand a repeat visit. Service was good, ocean view still great. read more

Ideal anniversary roost, views for days, exquisite service, casual clean luxury atmosphere, and menu filled with best bits from land and sea; we wanted higher end amidst fast food and casual southern eating and sure got it here. The others both did swordfish and I whole redfish. A few drinks too and deserts - drinks and my desert trio super good, spot on for this venue. The poke app wonderful! But all completely outdone by the perfect weather and near glassy gulf we got to gasp at during dinner. Oddly the swordfish didn't win my friends over like it should've, not worth a 36$ entry, seemed slightly overcooked and not as impressive as my redfish; which also had its flaws. Very tasty and easy to start on but half way thru I realized this was a stupid idea taking too much time and effort for my 34$ - maybe us bachelors aren't ready for the retired food life yet! We agreed at these price points there are many better options for value and views in the area but very few with this romantic halo. Our favorite for the past years (hilariously) is the Shrimp Basket with its basic menu and huge value. We also loved Fin & Fork further east. Tho - nothing matches these views, I could easily come back in 50 years! read more

Amazing ambiance and food! Sat inside with a good view by the windows. Dirty martini was good, but need to work on martini selection-blue cheese or feta stuffed would be better than pimento. Husband's Manhattan was great. Heirloom tomato tarte was delish, just needed some salt. Scallops 10/10. Octopus 8/10-super tender. Only weird thing was the sausage with the dish. Was supposed to be chorizo, if you're from Texas/down south this was not chorizo. Like a breakfast sausage. Red wine served at the appropriate temp. Ok now for dessert, I am a crème brûlée fanatic so when I saw espresso crème brûlée was pumped and the waitress said it was the most popular dessert. The flavor was perfect but the custard didn't set. It was super runny and warm. Definitely not the right texture. Super disappointing but at least the taste was on point. I was excited to try this restaurant as my family has been coming to Orange Beach for years. I booked it a few weeks prior to our trip to ensure that we could secure a reservation. However, given the last minute weather changes, I needed to update the time of our ressie. I attempted to do this via Open Table more than 24hrs before our scheduled dining time, but OT directed me to call the restaurant for any changes. I called 4 different times (just before their opening time, during open hours, etc.), but no one ever answered. I left 2 messages hoping to receive a call back to no avail. We finally gave up and booked elsewhere. I've never experienced such poor prior dinner service and am not sure I am willing to even give this restaurant a chance on a future visit. read more

Ate here for the first time and was not sure what to expect. Boy what a surprise. We started off with the country deviled eggs. Very good. Didn't know it came with pimento cheese which was very tasty. So good we had to order another one togo. We decided to get the whole snapper and was not disappointed. The fish was cooked perfectly. We went here to celebrate our wedding anniversary dinner. The food was delicious and the ambience was nice and relaxing on the patio. Seafood tower was displayed nicely and seafood was fresh. Hubby has the Delmonico ribeye. It was cooked medium rare and the flavor was good. Not a fan of the onion rings though. I had the filet. It was delicious but weirdly served in a bowl making it hard to cut but the flavor was excellent. Our server was very friendly and attentive. There was also a great acoustical guitar player and it was just the right volume so you could hear his talented performance, but still carry on conversation with ease. The food was great, but they are small portions and not so small prices given the size. I was very disappointed by our visit. I was looking forward to spending my birthday here especially because we ate here after our wedding about 18 months ago. I had high expectations. My reservation was done for the place downstream even though I called a month in advance specifically requested perch. They got it worked out and were nice about it. We were sat with Chris. I really wish we would've asked for someone else. We watched Chris give every table around us great and attentive service while we got treated like "the black table." O well. These things happen. We shocked him I think by ordering half of the menu. We had the calamari which tasted like it was covered in pancake batter and there was more zucchini and pickles than actual calamari. The deviled eggs were fine. I did like the garlic shrimp. The tuna was ok but the coconut rice was really great. My husband had the lamb lollipops and said they were fine. We had other things but I can't remember right now so there's that. My drink from the Valentine's menu was amazing. Even the foam on top so I definitely got another. Our table was constantly cluttered and we kept having to get Chris' attention to take care of us. He truly didn't want to be bothered by us. I honestly wish he would've passed us on to another server. I finished with the banana pudding. It wasn't what I thought it was going to be. The fried bananas tasted like it was dropped in a fryer with everything else. The pudding itself tasted like boxed jello pudding. Again. Super disappointed. I really hope it was a fluke because it's such a pretty place and one of the few places in town where you can dress up and have a nice date night. My experience at Perch was one better than many of the other five star restaurants I've been to. To start we were greeted by a friendly host. Secondly, our server was very attentive even though she had tables on both sides of the restaurant. The food was A M A Z I N G. The chef really knows what he is doing and you can really tell! We had the snapper and the duck special. So many delicious flavors, every bite got better and better! We asked our sever to let the chef know how much we loved the food and he came out to talk to us at the table. Overall, everything from start to finish really exceeded my expectations.
